Ginny wasn't sure when it had happened, how it had happened, all she knew was that it had happened. The world had come crashing down on her. The war was over, they'd won, and there, in the midst of battle she'd done the unthinkable, the most insane thing she'd ever done in her life. That was saying quite a bit if one counted the times she sneaked out to fly, the fact she'd joined the battle at all, and the whole thing with Dumbledore's Army.

No, kissing Draco Malfoy in the middle of the Great Hall after the battle had ended, before the dust had even settled. That was the most insane thing she'd ever done. Around her, she could hear people screaming, some in joy, others in shock and, well, in Ron's case, disgust.

Ginny didn't care what they thought, what they said, all that mattered was that Draco had survived. He'd lived and now he was standing there, surrounded by rubble, by dust, by the fallen bodies of both sides, kissing her back. Their lips parted and Ginny stared at him.

"Think we should see about helping?"

"Only if I'm not being carted away to Azkaban," Draco stated, his fingers wrapping around Ginny's. She looked at him dead in the eyes.

"They'll be taking you over my dead body," she hissed, a sense of protectiveness she's never felt before surging through her.

"Good," he said, kissing her again, this time slower, more gentle, as if they had all the time in the world. For them, in that moment, they did. Once again, they parted and looked to Professor McGonagall for what to do next, for who to help and how to start their lives now that the threat of death no longer hung above their heads every moment of every day.
