Arc 1: Kanto
Chapter 3: The Proud Ferret
Once Ash was recovered and got a new jacket, he and Lucario made their way into Viridian Forest.
Once inside, they fought against wild Pokémon in their way to get ready for Brock. Lucario got way stronger ever since he evolved, they defeated a few trainers inside the forest without any problem.
As they kept making their way into the forest, the found a clearing, were on top of a rock, there was a white with a red stripe Pokémon sleeping.
Ash raised an eyebrow "What's that Pokémon?" He looked at Lucario that shrugged his shoulder. Ash took out his Pokédex as it scanned the Pokémon.
"Zangoose; The Cat Ferret Pokémon, Native from the Hoenn Region. It has a rivalry with Serviper for decades and they developed a way to counter any type of poison. They have sharp claws that are their best weapon. This is a male Zangoose with the ability Immunity and knows the moves Sword Dance, Crush Claw, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter and Slash."
Ash eyes widen "A native Pokémon from Hoenn... what is it doing here of all places?"
"Lucario." Ash turned to Lucario that looked serious.
Ash nodded, seeing his logic "You think they also brought him here?"
Lucario nodded as he approached the wild Zangoose. Lucario remembers the time he was captured. The fear and uncertain feelings he had. He was about to shake Zangoose to wake him up when he snapped his eyes open and went to slash Lucario that jumped away in time.
Lucario landed and got in stance as Zangoose got of the rock slowly and stretched as he gave Ash and Lucario a bored look. "Zan-Goose."
Lucario scoffed "Lucario."
Ash blinked. Zangoose just called Lucario... weak. And if something that Lucario hates, is being called weak.
Zangoose smirked and waved his paw in front of them "Zan." He said as he climbed the rock again, deciding to go to sleep again.
Ash hummed "You don't want to fight us?" Ash asked the Zangoose that nodded.
"Zan-Zan."
Lucario growled and Ash scoffed making Zangoose turn to him "Say, if you think that Lucario is so weak, let's fight. If you beat him, we will admit you are stronger, and if you lose, you will have to go with us, deal?"
Zangoose seemed to consider it before smirking and jumping in front of Lucario as with his claw made a motion of slitting his neck.
With no warning, Zangoose went for a quick attack and Lucario was hit pushing him back a bit. Then he went for a sword dance and Ash nodded.
"Lucario! Jump and go for an Aura Sphere!" Lucario jumped and charged his attack, before launching it. Zangoose scoffed as he dodged and went for another quick attack. "Lucario! Double Team!"
Lucario created images of himself and Zangoose went right through one. Zangoose glared at Lucario that landed on one leg "Hit him with a quick attack of your own and then a Force Palm!" Ash ordered and Lucario jumped towards Zangoose and kicked him on the side of the head before putting his palm in front of Zangoose chest, before putting force into it sending Zangoose flying towards the rock and breaking it.
Zangoose climbed from the debris and glared at Lucario that smirked. Zangoose went for another Swords Dance, before quick attacking Lucario "Lucario! Endure it!"
Lucario put out his chest as Zangoose tackled him with his shoulder as he grinned and went for a Slash. But Ash saw it coming.
"Lucario! Counter!"
Lucario hissed in pain as the Slash really hurt, before he uppercut him, knocking Zangoose out as he went out flying towards a tree.
Lucario held his chest in pain as he fell to one knee. Ash took out a potion "Great job buddy! You did great!" He said as he applied the potion.
Lucario sighed in relief as he felt his wound healing. He walked towards Zangoose that was knocked out and healed him. He slowly blinked as he rubbed his head and sat down. "So," Zangoose looked at Ash and sighed "Are you willing to comply your part of the deal? You are not planning on running now, do you?"
Zangoose shook his head "Zangoose!" He proclaimed as he stretched his paw for Ash to shake.
Ash smiled "Awesome! Welcome to the team then!" Lucario came to them and Zangoose gave him the stink eye and Lucario glared back to him, something that Ash noticed "You two will be teammates now, so please try to be nice to each other."
Lucario huffed but nodded and Zangoose rolled his eyes "Zangoose."
Ash nodded "Yeah, you are really strong actually." Zangoose looked at him with a raised brow "Until now, no one else gave Lucario a hard time."
Zangoose smirked "Goose."
Ash chuckled and Lucario scoffed "Who knows if it was luck, skill or something else. But I know that you can be strong. In fact, you can be the strongest of your kind."
Zangoose smirked, liking how that sounds. Besides, he knows that he can be stronger than that weakling of Lucario.
Zangoose grabbed one of Ash's Pokéballs and let himself be caught.
*Later*
As Ash was making dinner, Zangoose and Lucario were sat next to each other.
Lucario turned to Zangoose that looked bored (A/N: Ash will still listen Lucario and Zangoose say their names, but they are talking with words now between them.) "Zangoose."
Zangoose gave him an annoyed look "Eh? What now?"
Lucario kept his stern look "Now that we are going to be teaming together, we need to place some ground rules for us to have a peaceful relationship. First off-"
"Hold on," Zangoose interrupted "Why should I obey orders from a weakling like you?" He smirked and Lucario narrowed his eyes.
"I beat you if you forgot. Or did I hit you too hard?"
Zangoose narrowed his, before scoffing "It was thanks to our trainer. He gave you the win. Next time... it will be different."
Lucario snapped his tongue "As long you don't interfere with Ash's objective, I won't mind you."
Zangoose raised a brow "And what's that objective?"
"To become the World Champion." Lucario eyed him "And for that he needs a strong team."
Zangoose smirked "Don't worry about me then. I will become the strongest, and don't you dare to forget it or drag me down."
They glared at each other as Ash came with the food "Hey guys, what are you talking about?"
They looked to him "Zangoose."
"Lucario."
Ash sighed "I know that you guys will become friends sooner than later."
*Later*
"Don't be a sore loser." Ash said to the girl, Misty, that he just beat.
It all started when he was training his team. Zangoose trying to learn Pursuit and Lucario Swords Dance and Close Combat. While that was happening, they broke a tree that almost crushed her, but crushed her bike.
She demanded for him to pay her bike back, all 1.000.000 Pokédollars now. Money that Ash doesn't have. So, she challenged to a fight. That she lost, Zangoose taking out her Psyduck and Lucario her Staryu.
Misty glared at him "You and your Pokémons destroyed my bike! That was my best way to get out of this creepy forest!" She huffed and crossed her arms "Now! You must escort me out of here!"
Ash looked at his team. Lucario looked annoyed while Zangoose yawned "What?"
Misty glared at him "You hear me! Your Pokémons are strong! So you will make sure that no creepy bugs get close to me!"
Ash noticed something on her shoulder "Ehm... Misty..."
"And you will walk on front of me to avoid them getting close."
"Lucario."
"...And your Pokémon will be behind me to avoid bugs creeping behind me."
"Zan-Goose."
Misty got tired of being interrupted by these rude team "What!?"
Ash pointed at her shoulder where she saw a Caterpie.
...
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
She ran away, leaving them behind. "So... you guys think that she will be fine?"
"Lu."
"Goose."
