"It wasn't so long ago that we were friends."

"I know, but I can't... not after-"

"Lily, you know I didn't mean it."

"I wish I could believe that, but you've been hanging out with them, you've changed. I can see it."

"Who am I supposed to hang out with? You? You didn't even want to talk to me. Potter and his crew? They hung me upside down, Lily. They showed...my...to everyone!"

"They were just trying to be funny."

"They were being cruel. Why are you defending them? Wait, something's happened, hasn't it?"

"James, he, well, he asked me out."

"He does that every day."

"I know, but this time it felt different. He's trying, Sev. He hasn't said a mean thing all week."

"Wow, the world must be ending."

"Severus!"

"What? Lily, don't do it. Don't go out with him."

"And why not? Just because you don't like him?"

"He hung me upside down and showed the world that I wasn't wearing pants! Everything was on display and then he laughed about it! Sirius almost got me killed, remember?"

"It was a misunderstanding."

"No, it wasn't. He knew Remus was in there, knew what he was."

"I'm sorry, Severus, but I already said 'yes'. I'm going with James to Hogsmeade this weekend. I would like it if you didn't come, didn't follow us."

"Is that the only reason you're talking to me, to tell me not to follow you? Fine, I wasn't planning on going anyway. I've got homework and Slughorn's got some rare ingredients he's offered to show me. I hope you have fun Lily and that he doesn't break your heart, but then again, you've made it obvious you don't care what I think."

"Sev-"

"No, I should be going. Just remember, if he offers you something to drink, make sure you see it being poured."

"He's not-"

"Good bye, Lily. I hope it works out for you."

"Sev, Severus, wait, come back!"
