The former number two hero Enji Todoroki sat upon perhaps the most comfortable chair he had ever sat in his life. It was intricately designed and while he was no expert he couldn't say he recognized the wood it was made out of. He guessed the chair was worth at least ten grand in USD on the lower end. On the higher end, well he was in the office of the richest and most influential man in Japan. Around him the decor was similarly high end with many display cases atop the walls displaying artifacts of significant value. Many of which were powerful magical items. Enji had to wonder why Midoriya had called him in. He retired from heroism after All for One's death and worked almost entirely at UA. Enji hadn't performed a job for The Clan or Midoriya for at least five years. To be honest Enji had thought Midoriya would reach out to Toya to replace him since he had reached number two a year back.
"Enji. Good to see you. Punctual as always." Midoriya greeted Enji as he entered the room.
"Boss." Was Enji's simple reply.
"As curt as ever. You haven't changed a bit." Midoriya observed with his trademark smug grin adorning his face.
"Less than you I'm sure." Enji hedged.
"Hahaha, true. How has Rei been?" The CEO asked Enji.
"Fine. She's been trying to help Shoko shape her ice lately. They've made quite a bit of progress and seem to be having a good time. Although to be honest I think Rei's just been trying to get Shoko into ice sculpture creation since Fuyumi and Natsuo never took to developing their abilities to that level." The redhead explained.
"Ah yes, I hear Natsuo has even entered college now. How time flies. Speaking of which, Shoko is going to UA next year isn't that right?" The Midoriya patriarch asked in a jovial tone.
"Yes. She wants to follow in the footsteps of her older brother and become a hero." The Todoroki hothead told the business magnate.
"Her older brother? Not you?" The black haired man asked.
"I certainly hope not. I was no hero before I met you. Toya on the other hand was never blinded by his own drive, like I was." Todoroki explained to the businessman.
"You are far too hard on yourself. That was but a small part of your life." The ice cold man assuaged the fiery hot heroic teacher.
"Perhaps you are right, but we are getting side tracked. What is the reason you called me here today?" The flaming man inquired.
"Come now do we have to get straight into it? Surely I can just call upon an old friend to talk." The centuries old mage said.
"For someone of your stature? No." The father of four stated bluntly.
"Aww. You're no fun." Midoriya leaned in with his elbows seated on the table with his hands obscuring his mouth. "Very well then, business. I want you to come to an upcoming meeting taking place between the HCC and the Yokai that the Amairin will be mediating."
"The Yokai? I thought Yasaka hadn't left Kyoto since the last generation of Campione died?" The middle aged fire user asked.
"That is true. The Yokai retreated to Kyoto and have remained very isolationist since then and most of our interactions have been very limited but Yasaka's daughter, Kunou leads the faction of more open yokai who wish to reestablish relations with the outside world. It would seem she has convinced her mother to begin branching out of Kyoto." Midoriya explained.
"I see." Enji simply said. He wasn't sure if this was good or bad. The Yokai faction had almost always been isolationist in nature in the modern era. In the period leading up to the death of the previous generation of Campione the Yokai had been attempting to open up and become more integrated with the rest of Japan and had been working heavily with the HCC at the time. An effort which immediately stopped once the period of instability began following the death of Japan's Campione.
"You've worked in Kyoto before and have had several interactions with the yokai there and you are also one of the few in Japan who know of the supernatural yet hold no connection to the HCC. That makes you a good mediator as you are a completely neutral party."
"Mhh, and who will go with me?" The hero asked with his arms crossed.
"Why my son, of course. After all Yasaka will be there with Kunou so it would be impolite to not show the same amount of trust back." The red eyed man told Enji.
"Ah, the heir everyone's been talking about. He's about Shoko's age, correct? Are you sure it would be wise to bring him to such an important meeting? He's still a child." The wielder of the Hellflame questioned.
"Perhaps not, but if he is to take after me then he will have to learn at some point. Besides, he's already killed his first Dead Apostle. I'm sure he'll be fine." Midoriya stated nonchalantly.
The former number two hero still had his arms and sighed before saying, "Fine. I'll do it." Enji stood up and started walking to the exit. "Call me when I am needed."
Although he couldn't see it, Enji was sure Midoriya's face was split in two with his trademark smirk.
Upon leaving the large skyscraper that was the Midoriya Conglomerate's headquarters Enji proceeded to wander about for a bit to think. It had been years since Midoriya had asked anything of Endeavor. Enji had spent nearly two decades being the number two hero before the death of All for One. After which Enji began to move toward teaching instead of hero work. He had done his part and now if his kids wanted to be heroes in his place he had no problem with that.
When All for One died the Amairin and by extension Midoriya were without any major obstacles to ruling Japan. Midoriya himself had been fighting for control of Japan for nearly two hundred years and yet when he finally achieved his goal he almost immediately announced a successor. He wondered why Hisashi would name his son as a successor so soon. For a mage of his caliber he still probably had at least a century before he even started showing signs of aging.
Hell, he looked the same as he did nearly twenty five years ago when they first met.
A successor, that made him think of his own past. Who Enji was at that time was not something he liked to dwell on. Enji had always been a competitive child who strove to be the best. So much so that he fought his hardest to surpass the seemingly unassailable All Might. However upon reaching number two at only the age of twenty he realized just how wide the gap between them was. So he despaired and decided that if he couldn't surpass All Might then he would create a successor who would. A quirk marriage with a powerful ice quirk user would create a child with limitless potential. With that in mind he moved with the single minded obsession only someone with passion as great as his could understand.
Then he met Rei. More than anyone else he had ever met, Enji found that he truly cared for her. It was like destiny. Someone whom he could truly see himself coming to love with the perfect ice quirk to his fire. He had been getting ready to propose to her when Hisashi Midoriya approached him. The business magnate told Enji that if he wanted to be number one then all he had to do was come work for him. At first Enji had been skeptical that a businessman had so much control over Japan but it soon became clear that the man controlled everything. Especially the hero industry. The discovery had destroyed Enji's entire worldview. All Might was number one because Midoriya made it so. Endeavor was number two because Midoriya made it so. All in the name of peace and stability Midoriya controlled everything.
On that day, Endeavor the passionate hero who strove to be number one was crushed under the boot of reality and was reborn as a servant of the leader of the Amairin. Enji went on to hold the number two spot while starting a family with Rei. Not out of any particular desire to create the perfect offspring to defeat All Might but because he had lost all the drive he had to be number one and was left with just his love for Rei.
Now if only he could get All Might to retire. The man certainly deserved a life for all the service he's done.
Eijiro Kirishima was running to the dojo after school had finished so he could train with the Boss and Bakugou. It had nearly been a month since they started and sometimes he felt a little guilty seeing as how he interrupted the Boss's time with his girl. The Boss always waved him off saying that he got enough personal time with Bakugou and that training together was more important. How manly!
Every time they met the Boss always seemed to do something manly and the best part was that it was all natural for the Boss. Eijiro strove to be like the Boss. Heroes like Burnout and All Might always seemed so far away and untouchable like he would never be able to reach them. The Boss though, he was different. He was a man amongst men who despite not possessing a flashy quirk, possessed the spirit that superseded anything a quirk would be able to give. It was like he was staring at exactly what Crimson Riot was talking about. It gave Eijiro courage when he thought about his own quirk.
While thinking of that his run had brought him underneath an underpass. Eijiro was breathing in one moment and then it felt like his mouth was filled with gelatin the next.
"Finally a good skinsuit to hide in. Don't worry kid, I'll make it quick." The gelatinous slime surrounding Eijiro said.
Eijiro panicked, thrashing around attempting to break free of his slimy shackles to no avail. The sudden attack scared Eijiro and his thrashing was mostly just reflex but soon things started to get dark as he was running out of air. Eijiro was scared. Even after everything he was completely helpless. Now he was going to die without ever achieving his dream. Without ever paying back his parents, Boss and Bakugou. Even as he was running out of air he refused to give up. Not now, not ever will I give up again. Eijiro began hardening parts of his body at random and thrashing even harder to knock loose the slime but nothing seemed to be working and he was running out of air until.
"Have no fear, for you are safe. Now that I am here, that is." All Might proclaimed as his punch launched wind pressure so high that he was freed from his slimy prison at once.
Eijiro coughed out any remaining slime after falling to the ground. Once he got up he saw All Might stuffing the slime into bottles."All Might!" Eijiro exclaimed as he saw the number one pro hero in front of him.
"Hahah, sorry about coming so late. It would seem that this city's sewer systems slowed me down enough to allow him to get you." All Might apologized while giving his trademark fearless smile. "Now then I need to get going."
"Wait, All Might I have a question I need to ask!" Eijiro begged. This was quite possibly the only chance to ask one of his heroic idols the question.
"I'm sorry, no time. Heroes have to battle the clock as well as villainy. Off I go." All Might said a bit quickly before making to jump.
Eijiro couldn't let this opportunity slip so he stuck on to All Might's leg just before he jumped hoping to get him to stop for a moment to answer his question. Unfortunately he was too late as All Might jumped right as Eijiro grabbed hold.
"Aaaah" Eijiro screamed.
"Wow now. There's fanboying but this is just creepy. Let go." All Might told him.
Eijiro looked down for a moment and blanched, "Can't, I'll die from the fall!"
"Oh good point!" All Might exclaimed.
"Please All Might I just have a question I need to ask you. You're the best around, it needs to be you." Eijiro pleaded.
"Ok, ok I get it. Just hold on till we get back down." All Might relented.
Once they had gotten back down onto a rooftop Eijiro separated from All Might.
"That was reckless young man. Now I have to go. Bang on the door and someone will let you in." All Might scolded quickly before walking to the edge of the rooftop.
"Wait All Might!" Eijiro screamed desperately.
"No time." All Might responded.
"Can I be a hero?!" All Might stopped in his tracks.. "I mean I don't really have a very flashy quirk and sometimes I freeze up and don't know what to do." Eijiro gripped his shirt as he looked down, unable to look at All Might in the eyes. "Still everyday I work hard to be the best man I can be! In spite of that, can I be a hero?"
All Might looked at Eijiro for a second before starting, "Young man I-" And coughing up blood. All Might's previously buffed out form deflated into an emaciated husk of a man.
"All Might! What happened, are you alright?" Eijiro desperately questioned.
"I'm fine, relatively. You know those guys at the pool who puff out their chest to look bigger? That's essentially what I do." All Might explained to the confused boy.
"Seriously?!" Eijiro queried incredulously.
"Yes, seriously. Look about your question. I don't know. You look fit and you seem to practice martial arts so that's certainly a point in your favor. A quirk also doesn't need to be flashy to be useful as a hero. That being said, some quirks are completely unsuited for heroism. But that is not the main problem. If you are to become a hero then you cannot have the luxury of freezing. Of course such things can be worked on but at the end of the day if you asked me if I believe someone could completely change their nature in so little time. I would have to say no. I do not know you so I cannot say for sure." All Might told Eijiro.
"But can I become a hero?" Eijiro pressed.
All Might sighed and then lifted up his shirt showing a terrible injury on his abdomen, "Look kid, the truth is to be a pro you have to always put your life on the line and if you don't think you'll be able to do that then you should think about becoming something else. I received this injury five years ago fighting a terrible villain and now I can only be a hero for three hours a day. I was lucky not to die. There are plenty of other professions you can become to help people."
"I see." Eijiro simply said with his eyes downcast.
"Look kid, I'm counting on you to not go spreading this around." All Might said as he pointed to his emaciated form.
"I would never." Eijiro said resolutely.
Soon All Might left and Eijiro was wandering around the streets in his head thinking over the encounter. While All Might wasn't his personal idol, that would be Crimson Riot, he was still the number one hero and his words mattered a lot to Eijiro. He was left in a daze and wandered about for a while until he saw some smoke coming from down the street. He didn't know why but Eijiro was drawn toward the smoke until he saw the slime villain from earlier fighting against a number of heroes. It was his fault that the villain had gotten away from All Might and was now wreaking havoc. But that wasn't the worst part, someone else was within the villains tentacles.
Ashido was stuck in the tentacles trying to escape. Thankfully her acid seemed to be giving the villain a hard time with her thrashing around sending out acid making it incredibly hard for the villain to even start to suffocate her like he did with Eijiro. Still he looked on as the heroes present did nothing to intervene. Eijiro was frozen, he didn't know what to do. He wanted to save her but his legs didn't seem to want to respond
"Someone please help me!" Ashido yelled in desperation.
Finally Eijro was able to see Ashido's eyes. She was scared. Terrified. The girl he had always thought was the bravest in his school was even more scared than he was. In that moment he took off. He wasn't thinking. No he couldn't think. All he knew was that he had to help.
"Kid, wait, get back." One of the heroes told him as he sped past them.
Eijiro didn't have a plan other than a vague idea that he had to help Ashido. So he did the one thing he knew how to do he punched. The slime seemed to grab onto him and try to pull him in but this time he had leverage and overcame the pulling force of the slime. The punch didn't seem to do much but Ashido seemed to be a little more free than she was before so he made to punch again. He was able to do this two more times until the villain seemed to get tired of the dance and moved its entire body to engulf him entirely. Eijiro tried to back off but he wasn't fast enough and would be completely engulfed. Eijiro closed his eyes and accepted his fate.
"Don't even think about giving up on me Kirishima." Came a familiar voice in front of him.
Kacchan was zipping back and forth on the impromptu parkour track we had set up to help train our movement in cluttered areas. She was using her quirk to augment her movement with such grace that it looked like even mistakes looked intentional. She had wanted to train on the course for some time by herself because she was angry that I somehow always was able to catch her despite not having explosion powers that allowed me to change direction mid leap.
So I was off to the side talking to an exhausted Kaede who I had managed to convince to give the course a whirl. She had only gone once and hadn't even gone that fast but by the time she was done she looked like she had just run a marathon.
"So I'm confused about something. I was wondering if you could clear it up for me." I said to Kaede who was stilling lying on the ground looking like she was entirely done with exercise today.
"Shoot." She simply replied.
"So I've heard about the Age of Gods before but since gods can still descend upon the mortal plane how are we not still in the Age of Gods?" I queried. My magical education still had a lot of gaps. I had only begun learning for about a month and it was that upon everything else I did.
"The Age of Gods is specifically in reference to the time when the gods were able to walk and influence the Earth without the Curse of Madness affecting them." Kaede explained.
"Wait, if the Curse of Madness wasn't always there then why did it suddenly become a problem?" I asked.
"That's a complicated question to answer. Gods are far less something like people with great power and much closer to ideas and concepts given power, form, and an ego. The Gods gained human forms because humanity gave the concepts human forms. You could say the reason why gods exist as they do is because humanity gave birth to them through our collective personification of ideas. In that same vein overtime when civilizations began to be born codified religions came along with them. Soon gods became far more definite than the amalgam of belief and power that they were before. Gods were still concepts given power but now they also had legends attached to them. Legends that influenced their personality when they resided on Earth. The gods did not like this and so tried many different ways to allow them to reside on Earth while not being affected by the curse culminating in the birth of Gilgamesh." Kaede finally got up off the ground. It seemed that lecturing me had given her some energy.
"So the gods did things like creating avatars and demigods to allow them to better influence the world without actually having to be there." I said in realization.
"Yes, and it worked for a time and extended the Age of Gods until the birth of Christ. Nowadays gods are only able to directly influence the world through the gifting of magics. Anything more and they risk being influenced by the Curse of Madness." Kaede finished as she started dusting herself off from any dirt that might still be on her.
With that conversation over I looked around but didn't see Kirishima. That was odd seeing as how he was almost always early to training. He hadn't called yet either to tell me that he wasn't coming. I'd been feeling a bit off all today and now Kirishima hadn't come to training. It seems as though Kaede had picked up on my worry and asked, "Is something wrong Izuku?"
My brow furrowed and I spoke, "Kirishima's not here yet and he hasn't texted me to explain why."
"Maybe he's sick." Kaede reasoned.
"Maybe." I responded.
"What the hell are you two talking about?" Kacchan asked, approaching us after finished her last lap.
"Kirishima hasn't said anything about not coming today." I told the bomber.
"Weird, that musclehead is always going on about how manly it is to train." Kacchan uttered.
I looked at my phone that had received no messages from Kirishima. The feeling I had in my gut told me something was wrong. I had no evidence but my gut has never been wrong before.
"I'm going out to find Kirishima." I stated before I started running off in the general direction of Mustafa Private School.
"Don't you dare just start running on me Deku!" Kacchan yelled as she trailed behind me.
I didn't mind her and kept running on. I had left the Tsumukari Muramasa wrapped up next to the door to the dojo so I swiped it as I ran past. We jogged for several minutes at a fast clip that would be considered faster than most people's sprinting speed. I sped up even faster when I saw smoke on the horizon. Turning the corner I saw the situation. Kirishima was fighting what I was sure was the slime villain from canon and within its grasp was Mina Ashido. The scene was eerily similar to the one from canon albeit Kirishima didn't have a backpack and it seemed Mina's acid was doing a good job of stopping the slime from fully engulfing her. It seemed as though I had arrived at just the right moment as Kirishima was about to be engulfed in the slime. He had closed his eyes, seeming to accept his fate.
I sprinted at full speed taking off the wrappings around my sword and arrived in between the villain and Kirishima before saying, "Don't you even think about giving up on me Kirishima." I unsheathed my blade in a lightning quick move that cut through the villain in several places. The slime villain screamed in pain and fell back in agony.
"Boss!" Kirishima shouted in joy and then turned and saw a newly arriving Kacchan who fired off a large blast right into the villain. "Bakugou!"
That blast Kacchan set off seemed to disturb the slime and while it wasn't a lot I could see Mina had loosened a bit. My mouth turned into a devious smile as I figured out how we were gonna do this.
"Kirishima, get the girl. Kacchan and I will loosen him up enough for you to get her out." I stated in a serious no nonsense tone.
Kirishima's eyes widened in surprise before saying, "Right."
"Katsumi, with me. Go for continuous low powered blasts. I'll keep it from encircling you." I ordered before starting toward the villain.
"Don't order me around Deku!" She screamed even as she followed my lead.
"You, how did you hurt me? I don't even have pain receptors in my slime." The slime villain asked, finally seeming to be able to speak again after it had finished screaming out in pain. The villain sent out tentacles of slime at me.
My grin somehow became even more shit eating as I retorted, "Magic." I cut through the tentacles and the villain howled as if his arm had been cut off. Meanwhile Kacchan blasted past me toward the main body of slime and punched. Of course her arm went several inches in and the villain looked happy he had caught another person for all of a second before she started setting off her explosions. Suddenly the parts around where she was setting off her explosions seemed to deform and lose cohesion. The villain attempted to stop this and sent out tentacles from regions of his body that hadn't lost cohesion. All attempts failed as I met the slimy appendages with the end of my blade. Finally Kacchan's blasts and Mina's acid caught up to the villain and Mina was released from the slime.
"I've got you!" Kirishima proclaimed as he caught Mina's falling form and started running back to safety.
Suddenly out of seemingly nowhere before Kirishima appeared All Might proclaiming, "I really am pathetic. Before I told you the traits that made a great hero but now I see I wasn't living up to my own ideals. Pros are always risking their lives, that's the true test of a hero!"
"No, you won't take me again, All Might!" The slime villain screamed and attempted to move away.
But All Might wouldn't allow the villain to get away so easily and brought his fist before yelling, "Detroit Smash!" And punching the villain into pieces through sheer wind pressure alone.
Then All Might gave Kirishima a look before giving the boy a thumbs up before taking off. So he would be the successor. Not a bad pick. Certainly better than me.
I put the Tsumukari Muramasa back into its sheath and then went to pick up the shroud that I wrapped around it. Apparently it was the shroud of some bigshot saint of the Church so it had strong sealing properties as well as inherently suppressing evil. Basically it was an extra layer of protection so that if anyone accidently tried to pick it up then they wouldn't be immediately killed or possessed. As I was wrapping the shroud around the sword I heard Kacchan yelling quite loudly.
"What the hell! As if you were doing anything." Kacchan squealed at the hero attempting to reprimand her.
"Even still, we are trained and licensed heroes. You three should have never interfered. Do you want to die?" The hero encased in wood began lecturing Kacchan. I think I remember him from the series but not his name. Kage Woods? Eh. Whatever.
I turned and saw Kirishima still holding Mina in his arms. "So you know her?" I asked Kirishima.
"Huh? Yeah, we go to the same school." Kirishima responded seemingly in a daze.
"Yea-Yeah, I'm Ashido Mina. But you can just call me Mina." She responded to me with her legs still shaking.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Izuku." I greeted the pink girl.
Before I could speak anymore to Mina, Kacchan started yelling, "And you did nothing while All Might swept in and did all the work!"
"What the- kid you're lucky you're not an adult yet. Otherwise you could be charged with quirk use with intent to harm." The hero scolded, clearly becoming angry with Kacchan's obstinate attitude.
"What I-" Kacchan started, furious at the hero's incompetence.
I put my hand upon her shoulder and stopped her, "Katsumi, let me handle this." She looked at me looking like she was about to blow a cap but I didn't relent.
Eventually after an intense staring contest between she relented, "Fine." She turned her head away from me.
I nodded at that before turning to the hero and saying, "So when are you gonna apologize?"
The wooden hero seemed a bit surprised at my sudden declaration, "What are you talking about? Kid, you and your friends could be in major trouble for interfering in hero work."
I tilted my head at that. "How? You and the three others sat around letting the villain hold a civilian hostage? While Kacchan may have not said it very eloquently, you failed in your primary duty as a hero to protect people so much that civilians had to step in to help. I think you owe us an apology for forcing us to do your jobs for you."
The wooden hero seemed to become downtrodden near the end of my speech but still continued, "That is true but you should have never intervened. The kid was holding out on her own and none of us had suitable quirks so we were waiting for reinforcements and All Might came so there was no need for you to put yourself in danger."
"And watch as someone calls out for help yet receive no help despite all the heroes around. It isn't a quirk issue. You and the rest of the heroes here were just afraid." I stated, looking the hero right in his eyes.
"Why you-" The wooden man started before another pro hero with weird gauntlets and an open chest put his hand atop his shoulder.
"Kamui. Leave it." He simply said.
"What? But Death Arms, these kids need to know what they did was wrong. Why if they weren't so young, they could be charged with vigilantism." Kamui told Arms, waving his own arms around to emphasize his point.
"Look, just leave it alone. Okay. Just trust me on this one." The large man's grip was tight and his gaze was one of absolute seriousness.
Kamui looked confused for a second but relented. He sighed before giving me one last piece of his mind, "Look just don't do something like this again."
Soon after Mina was given a checkup and the good to go by the paramedics we walked away from the scene. Of course Kirishima gave his word that he would walk her home and Mina had consented. I would have allowed Kirishima to do that himself but he asked me to come along so of course Kacchan came as well. Overall it seemed Mina had mostly gotten over the scare by now and was now very bubbly.
"So he called you Boss. What's the story behind that?" Mina bounced in front me walking backwards with her hands on the back of her head.
Before I could answer Kirishima did, "Well, Boss helped me out a while ago when I was feeling down and he's so manly. I feel like I can learn so much from him." I think I could see Kirishima's eyes sparkle.
"Pft, hahaha. Yeah I can see that." Mina said before she turned around. It seems as though we had made it to her house as she walked up to one of the houses along the road. "Hey Kirishima."
"Yeah?" The boy with sharp teeth replied.
"You were really manly today. Thanks for saving me. I know you'll be a great hero." The pink alien queen told the boy before opening the door to her house and walking in.
Kirishima looked like he was about ready to cry so I placed a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
"Boss, was I really manly today?" Kirishima asked with a shaky voice.
I was going to answer but it looked like Kacchan was going to beat me to the punch until a voice called out behind us, "Yes young man you were."
We all turned around to see the emaciated form of a tall man with blonde hair and sunken eyes.
"All-" Kirishima blurted out before he covered his mouth with his hands.
"Young man, may I speak to you alone?" The man who I knew to be All Might asked.
Kirishima turned to me and Kacchan but before he could ask I said, "Don't worry, just talk to him. We'll be at the dojo. By the way." I turned to the All Might. "If you want to keep the whole secret identity thing working you might want to learn how to change your voice more than just your tone. Anyways I leave you two to it."
Kacchan seemed confused for all of a second before a look realization crossed her face, "All-"
I put my hand over her mouth with my other putting a finger on my lips. "Shhh."
She knocked my hand off of her mouth and gave me a pout. I know she's trying to look scary right now but it just looked kinda cute to me. Eventually her gaze turned back to All Might.
"Let's go." I simply said.
She looked at the way All Might was looking at Kirishima and tilted her head down before saying, "Sure."
We left for the dojo and caught up with Kaede who looked rather angry at me for just running off like that. Thankfully her anger didn't last too long and Kacchan and I sparred for a while waiting for Kirishima to return. Eventually he did and I could see signs that he had cried. Meanwhile Kacchan seemed to become more and more distracted as the day dragged on with her gaze falling on Kirishima in contemplation often.
Night had fallen and I was in my bed thinking upon the events of the day. As much as I disliked the notion, Fate was a force in this world. While I hadn't asked the details it seemed as though Kirishima had met All Might in nearly the exact same way Izuku had. Hell, Mina even took Bakugou's place as the one captured by the slime villain. That's despite the fact that her quirk made her optimal to fight against the villain. I mean shouldn't the villain have realized that and moved on to another person?
I could feel a headache coming on. I had long realized that I wasn't Izuku in the slightest. Where he was emotional I was stoic. Where he was empathetic I was callous. Where he was motivated by the pure desire to help people I was motivated by my belief that it was an obligation I had to fulfill. Where he used fighting as a means to an end I enjoyed fighting to my core. No matter how you sliced it I wasn't the successor that All Might desired. He would never pass on One for All to me. Kirishima on the other hand had all of what I lacked. Empathy, heroism, emotion, love.
To be honest I think Kirishima was actually a very good choice and I had no enmity toward him. It was just that I wasn't sure what I should do anymore. Should I still become a hero? It was what I had worked toward my entire life but now I wondered if I was really needed. Thinking about it I guess I'm not really needed am I? Kirishima has taken my place as protagonist so maybe I can just be myself.
I want to fight. Even if that seems a bit childish or weird. I think I finally understand what my father said all those years ago. In my previous life I fought and fought until I could no more. I had wanted to leave that behind me but I can say with complete sincerity that I crave a good fight more than anything. The whole I have to become a hero because I'm the protagonist is really just an excuse in the end.
I'm not a good person am I?
A/N: So I'm definitely turning Shoto into a genki gal.
If you didn't notice, Yasaka and Kunou are DxD characters and DxD is a part of the world. Right now most of the supernatural communities of the world are basically coming out of isolation after recovering from what happened to kill all the previous generation of Campione.
On that note I think I've decided on where the new generation of Campione will preside over. France, India, Arabia, Russia, Brazil, Canada. Still working on what exactly their characters are gonna be but I've decided what I want the broad strokes to be.
Izuku finally accepts himself? Basically this guy has zero empathy toward anyone that he doesn't care about and the only reason he does things is because he believes them to be right. So basically his morality is entirely logic based rather than emotional.
Next Chapter: Meet the Yokai
Till next time signing out.
Beta's Note: Hmm… Interesting. Hahaha I don't even remember BloodWolf saying anything about DxD characters until they popped up in the chapter So, this has been fun -Fighingdragon
