I promised you all longer chapters in the future, didn't I? this chapter happens to be when Headmaster Kaien Cross first announces the dawning of the Cross Academy Night Class. needless to say, Zero takes it pretty horridly.

disclamation: I don't own 'Vampire Knight' in any way, shape, or form, nor do I own Zero's point of view in this fanfiction. as a matter of fact, the only thing I truly own in this fanfiction, if anything at all, is the fanfiction, in and of itself.

It was several months later before that pureblood vampire, Kaname 'what's-his-face' Kuuran, had felt safe enough to visit us again. I still refused to refer to any purebloods using an honorific of any kind; a rule of vampires which all other vampires ranked below the purebloods were more than happy to mindlessly oblige.

That was when that idiot headmaster, Kaien Cross, made an announcement to his foster daughter, Yuuki Cross, and me. I had also refused to be thought of by Yuuki Cross as her brother, adoptive or otherwise.

Kaien Cross: I'm going to establish a night class at our school.

Yuuki Cross was curious about this, but I could not have cared less to hear about it.

Yuuki Cross: Do you mean like an evening class for the seniors?

I just continued to read my book as I pretended to listen to the idiot headmaster's announcement.

Kaien Cross: No, it's not for the high school or university students. The classes will run at night, and most of their studies will be high level research, and they won't receive grades, either. You see, these are nocturnal students who live much longer lives. We can't treat them like us.

Suddenly, just as it did with Yuuki, my curiosity was finally piqued. Actually, it was not really that my curiosity was piqued so much as it was that my danger senses were suddenly tingling. I knew exactly what kind of creatures that idiot headmaster was referring to when he called those kinds of students nocturnal and added to that that they lived much longer lives.

Kaien Cross (continued): Every student in the night class is going to be a vampire.

I saw that coming. And upon hearing this news from the idiot headmaster of the academy, I rose up from my seat and dropped my book onto the floor without even bothering to put so much as a bookmark in it.

Yours Truly: What are you trying to do? Letting those things in the school?

It was then that I could hear a voice come from the doorway to the room. It was an adult male voice.

Voice: The goal is to promote peaceful coexistence between vampires and humans.

It was none other than that Kaname Kuuran at the door to the room, the same Kaname Kuuran with whom my precious little Yuuki was so infatuated.

Kaname Kuuran: And to educate young vampires so that they become a politically moderate force. That's his plan.

I was shocked at his presence back in the house, but Yuuki Cross, as expected, was elated to see her beloved hero.

Yours Truly: Kaname Kuuran.

Yuuki Cross: Kaname!

Then, she ran up to her beloved to hug him. He hugged her in return.

Kaname Kuuran: Good evening, Yuuki.

I did not know what the headmaster was thinking this time, but his fascination with vampires would stop here.

Yours Truly: That's absurd.

My seething anger was taken to its limit after that, and I ran up to Kaien Cross to try to reason with him and talk him out of letting such creatures into the academy.

Yours Truly (continued): There's no way that vampires wanna peacefully coexist with humans. They're history is stained with the blood of innocent people's lives.

But, that idiot headmaster would not accept my words to him, no matter what I said. What was worse than that was when he tried to make it sound as though he actually did know what I was getting at.

Kaien Cross: And, it is our goal to put an end to that. I know how you must feel, Zero. I, too, have lost someone because of them.

If Kaien Cross really had lost someone because the vampires…

Yours Truly: Then, why?

I did not know how he expected for me to take his explanations, but I did not take them very well.

Kaien Cross: There's no need to worry. Kaname has agreed to join the night class as well.

Was that part of the agreement supposed make me feel less worried?

Kaien Cross (continued): This will ensure that the other vampires behave.

I suppose the fact that all the other non-pureblood vampires simply had to obey a pureblood like Kaname Kuuran should have been enough to ease my worried mind, but still…

Yours Truly: But, things are over if he double-crosses us.

That was when Kaname Kuuran bid Kaien and Yuuki Cross farewell and covertly glared at me.

Kaname Kuuran: Yuuki, Headmaster, bye-bye.

With that covert glare of his at me, he left on his way out of the house.
