another slightly short chapter about Zero's life with Yuuki in the series.
disclamation: I do not own Vampire Knight in any way, shape, or form. if I did, I would really crack the whip on the awful, evil Viz Media staff for having some kind of nerve to end the anime on the note that they did. I'll never forgive them for it... NEVER! ahem, all rights of the manga's ownership are reserved for Matsuri Hino-san.
For the next few hours, Yuuki and I were on Academy Night Patrol. Then, I saw her looking into the school window while the Night Class was in session. I knew exactly who she was watching from inside the window.
Yours Truly: How's Kaname Kuran, tonight?
Yuuki heard me ask her the question loud and clear, at least judging by the way she reacted. It was precisely the kind of reaction I secretly wanted from her when she turned to look at me.
Yours Truly: I know he's your hero.
Then, Yuuki began to shake her hands up and down in frustration, judging by her tone during it.
Yuuki: I wasn't just looking at Kaname. Stop acting like you know everything.
I did not know why Yuuki insisted on pretending to think that she was not all that hard to figure out. Like I said before, she was so obvious that it was pathetic.
It was just about then that Yuuki went up to the edge of the school building's roof for further examination.
Yuuki: So far, so good. It seems to me like the Night Class is behaving just fine this evening, and it doesn't look like anyone from the Day Class is wandering around, either.
Then, Yuuki chuckled happily. She was just too happy-go-lucky for her own good.
Yuuki: All in all, it's a peaceful night, safe and sound at the academy.
Yours Truly: Come on. You don't really believe that. You honestly think things are going well between the Day Class and Night Class?
I was well aware of that being the smarter opinion and that it would have been smart to agree with.
Yuuki: Of course, I do. It's my hope that humans and vampires can all get along, someday. That's what we're working towards.
I really needed to learn, though, how to know better than believe that Yuuki, of all people, would ever agree with me about vampires, at all. I might not, but she trusts vampires enough to let them near her.
Yours Truly: I know the headmaster believes that the Night Class is on his side, that they believe in his pacifist views, and they're good vampires; but I don't believe it, not for a second.
Yuuki: Yeah, but_
Yuuki began to try to talk to me about before most likely remembering who she was talking to.
Yours Truly: I agreed to be a guardian prefect for just one reason. No matter what, someday I will find the most effective way to destroy every one of those beasts in human form. I'm going inside.
With that, I left Yuuki out in the cold to see if she could learn on her own just how savage even Kaname Kuran truly was.
