another chapter about Yuuki and Zero's joint time studying at Cross Academy told strictly from Zero's point of view.

disclamation: I do not own the Vampire Knight anime, nor do I own the manga. I just cannot find it in me to forgive Viz Media for the way they ended the anime. as for the manga, well all rights of ownership with that are reserved for Matsuri Hino-san.

Yuuki and I were on time to work for once. The only good thing about Valentine's Day is that the teachers would let the two of us go despite sleeping in class. I think that they worried about the Day Class girls when they would be in a hurry to see the Night Class guys more than usual.

The gates to the Moon Dormitory opened and the Night Class's faces were revealed.

Yuuki blew on her whistle to try to keep the Day Class girls under control.

Yuuki: Listen up! No cutting in line.

Of course, Hanabusa Aido was very eager to take the chocolates from the Day Class girls. Guys like Senri Shiki, however, were over it and seemed like they did not want anything to do with this event. I suppose I was in the exact same boat as they were. Of course, Akatsuki Kain told Senri Shiki to 'just put up with it'.

Yuuki: OK. Day Class ladies, it's almost that time. Today's event is about to start. Get ready to pass out as many chocolates as you can. And for you Night Class gentlemen, stand by your gates and accept the chocolates as they're given to you. We should approach today's event with as much order as possible. And, listen, this is not some kind of game. These ladies take this very seriously.

Hanabusa Aido: Taking chocolates from girls is my obligation.

Then, the blonde-haired vampire rushed to get the chocolates from the Day Class girls. Something in my gut, however, told me that Hanabusa's sweet tooth would not stop at chocolates. Yuuki tried to stop him herself…

Yuuki: Wait! It's not time yet, Aido.

Her only resource towards being able to keep Aido at bay until she blew on whistle was a voice that sounded gentle, calming and trustworthy, but I knew for a fact hid a violent and hateful arrogance.

Voice: Aido.

Of course, the voice belonged to Kaname Kuran. Who else would it have belonged to? Hanabusa stopped at the sound of Kaname Kuran's voice, anyway.

Kaname Kuran: You must behave yourself today. That understood?

Hanabusa turned around and faced Kaname Kuran like a good vampire dog would.

Hanabusa Aido: Yes, of course, Lord Kaname.

Hanabusa may have thought that it was to protect him from my wrath, but I knew for a fact that Kaname Kuran ordered his blonde-vampire dog to wait just to be my Yuuki's hero just like he always had. Yuuki bought it as much as Hanabusa had apparently.

Yuuki: Thank you, Kaname. I appreciate it.

Then, my Yuuki rushed towards the chocolates' gates for the exchanging of the Day Class girls' chocolates. She wore an expression on her face that told me exactly what she thought of that Kaname Kuran at that very moment; that 'he's just amazing' as I was certain that she was phrasing it in her head. As soon as she finally reached the chocolate giving gates, Yuuki readily said…

Yuuki: On the whistle, girls! Ready?

Then with that, she blew on her whistle and signaled for the Night Class guys to finally start taking the chocolates from their admirers among the Day Class girls. Senri, however, tried to walk right by his own chocolate exchange gate. Takuma Ichijo, the blonde-haired vice dorm president of the Moon Dormitory who acted more like a human than any of the others, stopped him though. He grabbed Senri and brought him over to his chocolate exchange gate. Senri looked miserable while being forced to do this sort of thing, though. I know that I would have been if I were in his shoes.

Kaname Kuran almost got away with it, but his own admirers from the Day Class stopped him by asking him to accept their chocolates, as well.

That was about when I could hear Ruka talking about her jealousy towards the Day Class girls who were fawning over Kaname Kuran. Akatsuki, of course, commented to her about the way she looked to him at that very moment. Of course, Ruka had her own comeback about Akatsuki's expression.

Ruka Souen: They're giving you chocolates. The least you could do is smile.

Then, the class representative from Yuuki's and my own class showed up to the event and began talking to Ruka just long enough to already annoy her to no end. Of course, it was because of the chocolates that he got for her. This was Valentine's Day. White Day was not until the following month.

Then just when I thought that things continued to stay under control, Hanabusa quickly tried something ugly with one of his own admirers.

Hanabusa Aido: So, tell me. What would your blood type be?

The Day Class girl he asked did not seem to know what he was talking about all of a sudden.

Day Class Girl: Huh? It-It's type O.

That was around when Yuuki once again blew on her whistle and gave him a red card for asking the Day Class girl to give him some of her blood in addition to the girl's chocolates specifically made for him.

Yuuki: Idol, I mean, Aido, stop! I said all you can take are their chocolates, nothing else.

Luckily for Hanabusa, he got the point behind it and not a minute too soon because I would have been ready to beat him within an inch of his life if he dared even try to eat any of the Day Class girls. He sighed in defeat over the matter, anyway.

Hanabusa Aido: Alright, then.

Then, both Hanabusa and Ruka glared towards my direction. Of course, I did not take that lying down and glared back at the two of them.

Back with that Kaname Kuran's admirers, more of them tried to get him to take their chocolates, too.

Day Class Girls: Please, accept this.

Kaname Kuran: I'm sorry, but my hands are full. I'm afraid I just can't accept any more.

That bastard. I knew for a fact that that Kaname Kuran was perfectly able to get even just one more Valentine's chocolate. But, the Day Class girls bought what he sold them as usual.

Day Class Girls: Oh no, it's alright. Please excuse us. We're the ones who are sorry.

That was when that vampiric bastard began walking away from them, pretending to be kind.

Kaname Kuran: Thanks for understanding.

My Yuuki was busy holding back the Day Class girls from trying to get too personal with the Night Class guys when that Kaname Kuran strode by her and suddenly seemed to have the time to talk to her.

Kaname Kuran: Thank you, Yuuki.

Yuuki: Sure.

Then, my Yuuki once again managed to lose even her concentration in that vampiric bastard's eyes.

Kaname Kuran: Don't get yourself hurt.

Yuuki: I won't.

My Yuuki literally paid a heavy price for losing her concentration in Kaname Kuran's eyes. She wound up getting pushed forward by the other Day Class girls and losing her balance along with the chocolate she bought for that Kaname Kuran in the process. Of course, I was all too willing to step up and give it to him for her, regardless of what I thought of the guy.

Yours Truly: Kaname!

Then, I tossed my Yuuki's obviously store-bought Valentine's chocolates to that Kaname Kuran. He caught it in his hand like he wanted it most of all.

Yours Truly: It was on the ground.

Yuuki got up from her fall as soon as I gave it to that Kaname Kuran in her stead.

Yuuki: Zero!

But, Kaname Kuran seemed to know who it was from just by the name on the tag alone.

Kaname Kuran: Glad to accept it. Thank you, Yuuki.

Of course, I gave it to him to prove to the Day Class girls that he was lying when he said that he could not take any more of their Valentine's chocolates. I also saw no reason why I could not help my Yuuki in an act of chivalry, as well. I know it sounds a little out of character for a guy like me. If there's one thing that still makes me human, however, it is that despite the way I treat the other Day Class girls, I always pride myself on being a perfect gentleman… to my Yuuki, anyway.

Yuuki only got flustered by Kaname's gratitude at receiving a box of Valentine's chocolates from her in addition to his recognition of the box as her gift.

Yuuki: Uh, yes… sure!

As soon as he turned to walk away, Yuuki turned around to face me. I don't know exactly what I was expecting from her, but the scowl on her face was nothing like what I had even expected from her, never mind hoping for such a reaction. Then, she began punching me in the gut like there was no tomorrow as she asked me…

Yuuki: Why did you give that to him without asking me? You were so angry about it, too.

This was the thanks I got for trying to demonstrate chivalry? Some way to show gratitude. Of course, I had my own response to her ingratitude towards what I did for her.

Yours Truly: It was watching you that me so irritated. Why didn't you hand it to him yourself? Ouch!

Then, she stopped punching me just long enough to avert her gaze away from me.

Yuuki: I didn't know what to do. I thought it might be awkward if I gave him a gift.

Of course, I knew why she thought that, but I dared myself to ask her why, anyway.

Yours Truly: Why would you think that?

I knew for a fact that it was because my Yuuki believed that vampiric bastard, Kaname Kuran, to be so different from her. She had thought of him like that ever since that one night when she first ran to me. It was as though my Yuuki was finally ready to accept that it would probably never work out between her and Kaname Kuran, no matter how much she had always wanted him.

Just then, I caught the scent of Yuuki's own blood and she was not even bleeding this time. My lust for her blood was getting worse and more serious. I did not care if it went against the regulations of my work ethic, anymore. I needed to get out of there and get away from the source of my own bloodlust.

I left my Yuuki on her own at that moment. She did not even notice me leave, anyway. It only further proved to me that she only had eyes for that Kaname Kuran and would most likely never learn to love me… not the same way I lo_ like her, anyway.
