another chapter of my fanfiction about Yuuki's time at Cross Academy told from Zero's point of view.

disclamation: I do not own Vampire Knight. believe me when I say that if I did, i would so get on Viz Media's case about the way they ended the manga and give the staff a good whip lashing to finish the anime into the manga, down to the very final chapter. the manga's ownership rights, themselves, are reserved for Matsuri Hino-san.

A month and a half after Valentine's Day had come and gone, I was lying in my bed in the Boy's Sun Dorm, even though it had taken me all night to sleep as well as I could at the time. That was when our school's idiot of a headmaster showed up with at least my Yuuki in tow. She actually looked pretty tired, herself, after being woken up by her so-called father. She was already dressed, however, and did not look anywhere near as gruesomely tired as I was.

Idiot Headmaster: Well, come along already, Zero. I've a surprise planned for both you and Yuuki. It's also an incredibly pleasant one, at that. Look at Yuuki, she's already dressed up and ready for today's surprise.

Yuuki rubbed her eyes, though. That was the surefire way I knew she was still tired by then.

I got out of bed, anyway. I might as well have started the day since my Yuuki was already up along with the headmaster.

Idiot Headmaster: I have a great surprise announcement for the two of you at the dining table.

Once we all made it to the dining table, however, the headmaster seemed less into his news and more into the food he had prepared for all three of us to eat for breakfast. Granted he had almost as much of a talent for cooking as my own vampire hunting master had, but I was a bit upset about being woken up from only just starting to have good dreams the prior night.

Idiot Headmaster: Here's my own tuna carpaccio with marinated tomatoes and a pinch of parsley. I've also made my beef filet and vegetables in a lovely cream sauce. These are all dishes of my own creation, my very own.

A/N: Of course, these right here are the words of Kaien Cross and not my own creativity.

I could tell that he was exaggerating slightly, especially considering that the dishes he called his 'very own creations' had already been invented previously and had simpler names in reality. Whenever our idiot headmaster did try to make his own concoctions in the past, he would always get too creative with the ingredients and the results looked and tasted so horrid.

Of course, I was mad at him for waking me up from finally having good dreams for the first time the prior night during my sleep. I would never tell what my good dreams entailed from that night, but I could say that they were some of the best dreams I had had since just before I ever came to live with the idiot headmaster and my Yuuki. And to think, I had even had some good dreams that night without needing Yuuki to make my own nightmares go away this time. Admittingly, I had to force myself to have a good night's sleep without my Yuuki's help, but at least I had better dreams this time.

When I was woken up after only just getting into my good dreams, I was annoyed to no end. And now, I even wanted to hurt that idiot headmaster of our school just for calling Yuuki and I to the dining table so early.

Yours Truly: Are you telling me he called us here at the crack of dawn for this?

I then looked towards my Yuuki. She seemed to only be interested in the tiny carrot she was munching on and did not really sound like she got what I was getting at.

Yuuki: Yeah, calling it his very own is a bit much.

Of course, it was a bit much for him to be calling these dishes his very own when he was only as good at cooking as this when he followed the recipe exactly, but still…

Yours Truly: That isn't what I was talking about.

Yuuki: Huh, what do you mean?

Obviously, my Yuuki would not get what I was getting at because she did not know that I was awoken from finally having had a good dream when the two of us were called up for this sort of thing at the crack of dawn. Meanwhile, I bet that she had good dreams her whole night's sleep since she seemed a lot more awake than I had even wanted to be at that moment.

It was then that Yuuki and I heard the headmaster say something upon apparently having come back to the dining table.

Idiot Headmaster: Say 'cheese'!

Then, he snapped a photo of Yuuki and I. Of course, I did not want to be photographed without any permission so I hid my face behind the food that was in my hand.

Yours Truly: What's with you, today?

Of course, the idiot headmaster had an immediate response to my question.

Idiot Headmaster: Commemorative Photo. Today is special. You'll perform your duties not as prefects, but as full-fletched members of the Disciplinary Committee, making it a day to commemorate.

Both Yours Truly and Yuuki: Huh?

A/N: Obviously, the word 'prefects' is my own. I replaced the word 'guardians' with it because Yuuki and Zero were both called 'prefects' in the manga, and not 'guardians'. I am genuinely sorry for not mentioning that fact earlier.
