Another day arrived in the pridelands, kovu woke up followed by kion and kiara. Kovu stretched and waited to get some food before going to do lion guard duties. "Enjoyed your sleep kovu" kion asked yawing after, "yeah I never had a sleep as good as that" kovu responded. "Well that's good to here" kiara said joining in", "I'm really glad things turned out this way" kovu admitted while giving a smile towards kiara and she returned. Then simba and nala woke up and they went out for some food. Then kiara and kovu talked about what they have been doing since they last saw each other. Kion had been meaning to ask how they met. "Hey guys I've been meaning ask how did you guys meet" kion asked curiously.

"Oh right you weren't around yet" she said knowing why he didn't know

"Well we got some time so might as well tell you the story, it started a few years ago" she started

Flashback starts here

It was a calm dawn rising on the pridelands some animals were still asleep and others were waking up still. At the time kiara was not as responsible as she was then as she is now. She was six months old and wanted nothing to do but explore the as she was about she was stopped by her father. As you can imagine he was over protective as always. When she left to explore she didn't notice timoan and pumbaa until they blew their cover. She didn't like being smothered with unwanted attention she snuck away but stumbled into the outlands where she met another cub.

"Who are you pridelander" the cub demanded

Kiara was nervous, the young outsider cub was trying to be intimidating, she was trying to jump away but kept facing him, "what are you doing" the outsider cub asked on what she was doing.

"My father told me never to turn your back to an outsider" she responded

"Father" the cub repeated, then realized who she was the daughter of simba

"What's the kings daughter doing in the outlands" he asked

"I wanted to see what was in the outland" she answered

"Wow you should follow his example always doing what daddy says" he teased

"No way" she said

"Imagine that daddies little girl" he continued to tease her

The cub then jumped onto a log, "as an outsider we take care of are selves" he boasted

"Really?" she asked curiously

Kiara then jumped onto the log with him, "That sounds pretty cool"

He then looked at her with a smug look but then saw something behind kiara and then screamed. She looked at what he was screaming at and joined him as a crocodile tried to eat them. They jumped away onto another log they caught their breath, "that was a close one" he said. But they notice the log was rising and they realized they landed on a crocodile and they were in the middle of a crocodile float. They dodged all of the snapping kiara climbed up to a tree branch and saw the other cub running for his life" hey! what about me" she called out. "I'll distract them for you" he told her, he then got the crocs attention which bought enough time for kiara to escape. Then they met back up an ran away from the crocs. Then once they were far enough away they stopped to catch their breath.

"woah man did you see the size of those teeth" she exclaimed

"And you were really brave" she said complementing him

"Well you were pretty brave yourself" he complemented back

"I'm kovu" he introduced himself

"I'm kiara" she introduced bac

Then zira showed up and the simba and nala and other members of the pride then they took the cubs and returned to their homes.

End of flashback

"And we haven't seen each other since" she said finishing the story

"Wow interesting I bet dad was mad" kion said playfully

"Oh he was so steamed" she playfully answered

Then simba and nala returned with food and they enjoyed some nice breakfast, then after they were done kion took kovu to the lion guard layer for their daily duties.

Kion and kovu arrived at the lair with the rest of the guard, kovu was amazed by this place with all the paintings on the wall.

"Kion why is kovu here" fuli asked but then notice the mark of the lion on kovus left shoulder.

"You made him a member of the guard why?" she asked

"1 he deserved better and 2 he stood with me against his former pride" kion answerd

Fuli somewhat understood his decision but he could of at least told them about it but she let it go, if what kion said is true about him she can somewhat trust him, they left the lair and left to go on patrol.

"So what do you guys do first" kovu asked

"Well we first do are morning patrol and if anything pops up we respond" ono said

While the guard and their new member were walking around they stopped by a watering hole for a break and a drink. And when they did kiaras friends tiifu and zuri were there and some other young lioness. They notice the guard was their and they decided to see what was up with the new lion and kions new scar.

"Hey kion " zuri said getting his attention

"What's up zuri " he asked

"Well we were wondering about that scar of your and that new lion" she said in a flirt like tone

"His name is kovu and he knew kiara since before I was born and as for my scar it was from dealing with outsiders who were gonna kill me" he answered but watching what they were doing and noticed that some of the young cubs were observing kovu a bit, looking at his muscles, his main and his eyes. Kovu was a bit uncomfortable with their actions towards him and really hoping kiara wasn't here other wise he would be having a tough time to explain things to her. Then kion told them they were going back on patrol now much to the young lionesses disappointment. And when they were gone kovu thanked kion for that but the rest of the guard mainly fuli were holding back laughs and tying to hide their grins.

"HYENAS IN THE PRIDELANDS!" a group of gazelles yelled from the distance

" It must be janja and his clan" he said

"Lets go till the pridelands end" he said the start

"LION GUARD DEFEND" they said together in unison

They ran off to where janja and his clan were terrorizing. And when they got their they spread out and took on janjas clan one by one. Kovu handled himself well against a member of his clan. "Who's the new guy?" janja asked "His name is kovu and he is more than a match for your hyenas" kion said with a grin. After knocking janja down him and his hyenas ran back to the outlands with their tails between their legs. The guard celebrated their victory and kovus first mission as a part of the team.

"Ha not bad kovu you were pretty good" fuli said with her arms crossed

"Yeah not bad" bunga chimed in

"What now" kovu asked

"Well with what we just did to his clan they probably won't come around here for a while now that we number into six" kion said with a confident smile

And with that they returned to their homes and decided to relax and kion decided to give him a proper tour of the pridelands they wandered all over and meeting the other residents of the pridelands. And everyone took a liking to kovu despite the fact he was with the outsiders. And kovu felt more comfortable now that he felt welcomed by the pridelanders and then after the tour was over they noticed it was getting dark so they returned to pride rock where they were swarmed with admiration of the other young cubs luckly for them kiara pulled them out of their. Then telling kiara about their day they diecided to relax. But kovu wondered something.

"Won't janja and his clan come back" kovu asked

"Don't worry after learning we have a new member and how we beat them today they won't come back for a while" kion said

"Hey kovu" kiara asked sheepishly

" Yeah what's up" he asked

"I was wondering if you would sleep with me tonight" she said blushing deeply afterwards

"Shore if you don't mind" he said walking over to her and then kiara snuggled up to his chest kovu blushed like crazy and then kiara drifted off to sleep.

Kovu looked over at kion but he just had a nice grin on his face and went off to sleep. Kovu was glad that he was back with is friend and childhood crush things have turned out good for him all because of kion with that he forever thanked him.
