A/N: Fang and Lightning have a moment with their infant daughter at the Yun-Farron household before having a Yun-Farron version of Sunday Funday, with the infant named after Fang's mother (who is alive here). Conclusion to the Halloween and Thanksgiving themed tales with this story. I will add that there is a brief mention of a past Rydia/Kain (FF IV) pairing, which their 'story' is necessary for this fic.

The Green Eyed Miracle

Rydia Yun-Farron. Fang and Lightning's infant daughter, the one who was in Lightning's womb for the past nine months. Named after Fang's mother, who was beyond happy upon finding out Lightning stepped up to help make Fang's long time dream of having a family of her own become a reality, the dark haired, green eyed 'miracle' as some would label it due to Fang's difficulty to get pregnant after several rounds of treatment over the years, before and since Fang and Lightning got married in front of family and friends... it was noted by those closest to the couple that Rydia really IS a miracle to the married couple due to said issues Fang has had. It was Lightning's idea (and hers alone despite what Vanille and Snow both had thought) that their daughter is to be named after Fang's mother. On a quiet Sunday afternoon, Fang and Lightning look at their infant daughter taking a nap in her crib with more love in their eyes than one thought that they could give to their baby girl.

As for Claire 'Lightning' Farron herself, the very tales that came from her mother-in-law herself, which included one about being named after her ancestor, Highwind Yun Rydia - plus another about the importance of empathy towards those from a different culture and raising a child whose parents with different backgrounds, who chose to be with Kain after a long time to think about Edge's offer to be in Eblan as his wife and then declining that very offer centuries ago, noting that she couldn't stay put in a kingdom considering what she was capable of doing and what she had to do in her home village of Mist at the time. Kain understood her painfully heartbreaking decision, it wasn't easy for those involved all those years ago. It was a few years after they wed that Kain and Rydia chose to start a 'clan' of Dragoons whose loyalty would be to Baron, with the Summoners to assist them on the field with their powerful magic. It was because of Kain's compassion for Rydia's difficult situation all those years ago that the Yun Clan prospered for as long as they did.

Some centuries later, this same compassion that came from Highwind Yun Kain and Rydia in the past was then found in one Oerba Yun Rydia, and even later in her only daughter and child Oerba Yun Fang. When Rydia met Fang's then girlfriend Claire 'Lightning' Farron some time later, who has since married the brunette, the oldest Yun immediately accepted the Cocoonian native without hesitation. Why that was the case, considering how those from Gran Pulse tend to be hostile to those from Cocoon, no one will ever know outside of Oerba Yun Rydia herself. Rydia couldn't stop crying happy tears upon finding out that not only was Lightning finally successful in getting pregnant, but when she found out they were having a girl, Lightning also told her that she and Fang are naming their newborn after her, which was a week or so after the Thanksgiving get together that Lightning and Fang hosted, which the oldest Yun couldn't attend due to an emergency situation in her end of the world that forced her to stay behind. Although Lightning was sad upon hearing the news, she immediately understood what had went on, and vowed to keep in touch should things change somehow.

In the months since Thanksgiving Dinner they've hosted, Fang made sure to be involved with EVERY milestone that was part of Lightning's pregnancy with their daughter Rydia; she even got her mother to help them out with varying aspects of the pregnancy somehow to ensure that Rydia Yun-Farron was born healthy and happy as she could be. What would surprise the married pair was the oldest Yun would help them in every aspect of the pregnancy, a focal point for improving relations between Gran Pulse and Cocoon ("This, these talks to make things better for Cocoon and Gran Pulse, won't mean a DAMN thing if Cocoon and Gran Pulse can't work together for peace between our people... and I'm fucking sure you lot would agree..." Rydia, with passion in her voice, addressed these very words to the Pulsian and Cocoonian Councils on the matter the day after finding out that Lightning and Fang was expecting a girl) in recent times, let along Rydia agreeing to help the pair, despite both Lightning and Fang having highly paid jobs of their own, Little Farron (Fang and Rydia's nickname for Serah) and Vanille already helping the married couple with varying matters related to Lightning's pregnancy.

As for Christmas and New Year's at the Yun-Farron household, knowing that Lightning was getting bigger, the married couple kept a low profile whenever they were out in the public eye, which close friends and family practically buried the house and its occupants with all sorts of gifts - both for the couple and baby Rydia. It was then that the older Rydia made a surprise visit to the Yun-Farron household with even more gifts for the household as a whole; not only to help the couple out on the upcoming birth but to also help around the house. Lightning felt odd about this at first but was quickly grateful for this gesture from her mother-in-law later, knowing how difficult simple movement would be until baby Rydia's grand entrance to the world, which Fang was floored with how empathetic her mother was with her wife at this point in the pregnancy. What was even more shocking was whatever Lightning ate, Rydia and Fang ate too. To show solidarity with the pregnant pinkette.

In Fang's eyes, this is very typical of her mother to do.

One look at the nursery inside the Yun-Farron household, and Fang will proudly say that her mother, Oerba Yun Rydia, was the mastermind behind it, with Snow, Noel and Hope helping with building and assembly of the needed furniture to blend both cultures in the best way possible. Even Fang chipped in, surprising the oldest Yun considering the circumstances that came before and Lightning's success in getting pregnant with baby Rydia. Being clever as always, Fang snuck in Rydia's crib the toy that Vanille had gifted for them for Christmas without making a single sound to wake the newborn. The married couple were both fortunate to be tired enough so that they can retreat back to their room to catch a nap for themselves.

Several minutes later, Fang and Lightning Yun-Farron officially retreat back to their room, where Lightning would be the first of the two to fall asleep in their king sized bed. With Fang looking at the sleeping form of her wife, the brunette smiled. Thank you for carrying and giving birth to our green eyed miracle Rydia… our Little Sunshine... I love you so much, Claire, forever and always. You have no idea how much this means to me. I'll tear down the sky for us, our little family, if anything comes to you... Fang happily mused to herself while looking at Lightning, who currently is asleep. Holding her wife in a protective state in their bed, the brunette somehow found sleep as well a short time later.

Sure enough, Baby Rydia's crying woke them both up a good three hours later, and it took the speed of Lightning's namesake to find out the newborn was quite hungry. With Fang watching her wife breastfeed their infant daughter, the brunette became more grateful than ever for her mother's intuition on the pregnancy, as things weren't as difficult for Lightning and Fang as some had initially feared it to be, knowing how hard Fang had it trying to get pregnant years before Lightning's success in the such. The married couple started to sing a song in Pulsian to the infant who smiled at her two mothers with her eyes for the first time. "Definitely our little miracle, Fang..." Lightning happily but mused to her wife, who shared a looked that agreed with the older Farron's thoughts on this. Rydia Yun-Farron definitely is their green eyed miracle, the missing piece to their family, now complete.

The family would spend the rest of the day having fun and made sure that their Rydia would only smile at her parents with her eyes all day long, hopeful the smile they get from her eyes would never go away. Baby Rydia made sure to include her toys, making an once quiet Sunday into a the Yun-Farron Family version of Sunday Funday. Oerba Yun Rydia got a video of this the next day from one Claire Yun-Farron at her home in Paddra and couldn't stop smiling throughout the video, knowing that Fang made the best choice by being with Lightning, and for more than one reason, with the biggest reason being the family they now have, with Rydia Yun-Farron completing the picture Fang and Lightning wanted to finish all those years ago. "Thank you for making my Fang happy, Light. Baby Rydia is such an angel. Keep making them happy..." the oldest Yun happily said to herself after the video was done, with a smile of pure content and joy on her face.

The little family would be happily together to the end.
