The Heroic God Slayer
Chapter 5
As much as I wanted to leave those who are reading my stories wanting more, I always hate when authors do that in some of these. Also I keep going over the battle and the like over and over again and….. I just need to write this. Oh and I have read some of the end of Campione, but I went with an original story where Godou was only partially successful. He and the rest died due to another set of incidents and thus my OCs had to eventually take over. Hopefully some readers are giving my other stories a look too. So on with the show.
(Mina POV)
What is this? What am I going to do?! Am I going to die!? I thought this was just going to be us following some classmates to find out about a steamy romance. I didn't think we'd actually meet the villain that was attacking people. Let alone that I would be a target. But what did he mean by calling me a monster. I'm human! I just look a little different from my family descent! I mean sure. I'm thinking about calling myself Alien Queen but…..
Never mind that! I need to get away. My back hurts and I know its bleeding. Even if I have to crawl, I have to get away from this maniac. But before I can, I feel a new set of pain in my legs. I look back and see the dog has bitten down on my left leg, and the monkey has such a tight grip on my right I think it may be broken. "Yet another oni to kill. Be glad that your death will lead to protecting this land from more monsters like you," I hear the man say as he brings his sword up and I see it glint in the sun.
I look around hoping someone will see and say they had called the cops or heroes. But there is no one around. Like I've been spirited away or whatever it was back in the day. As the blade comes down, I close my eyes in terror. Waiting for the end.
"Not today Momotaro!" I hear as the clash of steel-on-steel rings out. I look up and I see Midoriya standing above me with some sort of weapon in hand. I then hear a clap and stone flies out of no where and blasts the monkey in the stomach. And a set of branches grow and wrap around the dog's muzzle and opens it up enough. "Ashido! MOVE!" I hear him say and I crawl again to get some distance.
The next thing I know Xeimei-chan is standing in front of me and telling me to hold still. "Xeimei! Get her and the other girls out of here quickly! I'll handle Momotaro for now!" "Understood my king! Good luck in battle!" With that Xeimei-chan and Uraraka-chan get under my shoulders and try to get me out of there. I look back and see the form of Midoriya standing with that weapon, and a determined look in his eyes. I'm not sure if it's the blood loss, but he looks so impressive.
(No POV)
"Who are you to stand in the way of my duty?" Momotaro says after he had been knocked back by Izuku. The oni slaying hero's eyes narrow as he takes a closer look at Izuku. They then widen in relaxed realization. "I see. A god slayer. You must be the one who interrupted the recent tournament. Why do you protect these monsters?" "My focus in life. My dream and goal! Has always been to be a hero who can save others with a smile on his face, and who can inspire others to smile. You may not see the people around you as human, but I am willing to see for myself," Izuku says with determination in his voice.
Momotaro is impressed by the young god slayer's declaration. He nods before saying, "you have all the trademarks of what it means to be a hero. But these fools still deserve to pay. They have played god so much that it has led to this state!" Izuku isn't sure what he means but he has a suspicion about what the rogue hero is saying. He also knows talking will get them nowhere.
He spins his glaive and tries to attack Momotaro. But every strike the Japanese hero blocks every single strike and even knocks Izuku back. Momotaro laughs a bit before going in for his own attack. "That glaive gives you the ability to strike through divinity. But there is a catch isn't there!? And you've yet to truly grasp what that is!" the oni hunters says as he knocks Izuku into a building. Then out of sky comes the pheasant and it attacks Izuku's face. The scratches don't bleed but they do distract the boy.
Then the dog rushes in and bites Izuku's leg, and the monkey punches the boy in the stomach before grabbing him from behind. Momotaro then rushes again and slashes Izuku across the chest. Izuku winces as his skin gets cut, but the injury isn't very deep. "I see you are quite tough. But let us see how well your neck can handle a blow!" Momotaro says as the sun sinks down below the horizon. Just at the rogue god strikes, Izuku disappears. He then reappears behind the peach hero and slashes his back with the glaive.
As Momotaro is reeling, Izuku pulls out a dart from behind his back and throws it at the dangerous entity. Momotaro dodges the first thrown and cuts the second. But the third strikes him in the shoulder and he cannot move. Right as Izuku is about to attack again, the animals attack him as well. This time though taking more humanoid forms. Izuku gets knocked around a few times by the dog and monkey, while the pheasant (which looks like a woman) flies over to Momotaro to whisk him away.
Izuku takes a claw strike and punch to the face before punching off and cutting both of the entities. His nose and a few other areas are bleeding, but he is still standing. This is enough for the two animals to cause one last distraction and get away. With the two gone, Izuku collapses down and tries to catch his breath.
With the girls, Xeimei had created a portal just as they were running that warped all of them back to her and Izuku's hotel room. "What?! How?!" Ochaco asked while looking around. "I'll explain later. Right now, we have to fix Mina up," Xeimei says before stripping Mina's uniform off of her. Momo noticing the severity of the injuries, grabs her phone and tries to call the hospital. But Xeimei stops her. "They can't help her. And unfortunately, I haven't been to the hospital associated with the CCTH. I'll have to treat her here."
Xeimei then uses some magic to start healing some of Mina's injuries. She focused slightly on the bite that the dog had inflicted on her ankle. While on the pink girl's back the cut is deep enough, they can see the barest peek of the bones in her spine. Xeimei focuses intently on that as well as using a few of the medicines she had concocted. Mina was crying and started screaming as Xeimei started working on her back.
To keep the girl from thrashing, Reiko and Ochaco were holding her arms and legs. And Momo was creating something to knock the girl out. This was especially needed when Xeimei said she would need to do some stitches on her back. Mina starts to freak out a bit, but Momo uses the chloroform she made to help her relax a bit. And Xeimei gets started.
Once she has finished, Mina is somewhat coming to again. "Easy. Don't move around too much," Xeimei says while Mina rolls over on her side. Right as she does Izuku comes into the room. "Is Ashido okay? Xeimei were you able to….." Izuku starts to say until he notices that Mina is on the couch. And she has nothing covering her chest. Not even a towel or bra.
Everyone realizes this and when the girls start to scream, Xeimei dampens the sound so it doesn't disturb the neighbors. And just when they were about to say something else to Izuku, they notice he is hurt as well. "Midoriya you're bleeding! We need to get you to the hospital!" "I already said that wouldn't help. They're used to quirk or similar based injuries. This was done by magic," Xeimei says nonchalantly. Izuku though facepalms when she says that, and the girls look to her like she is crazy.
"What are you talking about Xeimei-chan? Magic isn't real," Ochaco says with confusion etched all over her face. Xeimei stops and puts together what she just said. Before saying, "oops."
Izuku just sighs before asking if she had a potion or something he could drink. Xeimei nods and makes some tea while the other girls cover up Mina. After Izuku had drank a few sips of the tea, his wounds had already begun to heal. This shocks the girls and they finally get around to asking the biggest questions.
"What the HELL is going on around here?!" Ochaco asks first, with Reiko and Momo questioning who it was that attacked Mina and why they were hunting him. Xeimei and Izuku look to each other and back to the girls before the former says, "my king… it may be best to explain what has happened. As well as who you are. By the way did you defeat Momotaro?" Izuku looks to the side before saying Momotaro had gotten away.
"Wait MOMOTARO? As in the mythical hero of Okayama Momotaro?" Reikos asked with wide eyes…. Or eye. She had one bang covering her right eye. The two magic based heroes sigh before asking if they should wait for Mina. "I'm fine Midori. I'm curious about what is going on between you two. But I want to know who attacked me." Izuku sighs before asking Xeimei to give the basic explanation first. She nods and begins.
"First of all, gods and magic do exist. Its actually what I use. I pass it off as a quirk, but the truth is I'm a mage formerly with the Nine Heavens Syndicate. I use Taoist arts and my jian is actually a mystic weapon. I'll show you." She summons her sword Yun Huifu and sets it on the table. Ochaco and the rest were surprised at how she summoned it to begin with. But when they try to draw the blade, it doesn't move. Even two of them together can't pull it out.
Xeimei chuckles before saying, "every so often a god will rebel or go against their legends and become rogues. They rampage in various locations from time to time and depending on the type you may see a different type of disaster. A sun god a drought, a war god a conflict arises. You get the idea. Most people can't see them and only perceive what happens as natural disasters. For the most part no one can stop the destruction they unleash. But there is an exception and a group who can make a difference." She then looks to Izuku who is drinking some more of the medicinal tea Xeimei made. The rest of the girls are confused and shocked by what she described, but they didn't understand what Izuku had to do with any of it.
"Those who can fight back are special humans known as Campione. They are humans, who have slain gods." Upon hearing this all of the girls are dumbfounded again and staring at Izuku. Who just sighs before saying, "yes. I am a god slayer. When I visited Yuangshao with my family I happened to get caught up in a very dangerous and special event for the gods. A tournament of true heroes." Izuku explained what the tournament was and that he had stopped it by slaying a few gods before they kill more people.
All of the girls needed to sit down after what Izuku had described. Some even accepted Xeimei's herbal tea to calm their nerves a bit more. "So let me get this straight: you met few gods and one of them gave you the ability to stop it. And instead of turning it over to another hero you went and fought them yourself. And in doing so you killed three gods! And gained the abilities of each of them! And now you have to fight against a rogue version of Momotaro that wants to kill almost anyone with a quirk?!" Momo says with growing panic.
Izuku just slowly nods before saying, "yeah pretty much." This makes most of the girls anime fall over. Mina though asks why she was targeted. "Weeelllll. Um. Yeah its because you have horns and your skin looks like it does. Momotaro has been targeting mostly people with horns or strange skin tones because it fits in with the legends of him slaying oni. Even if a god goes rogue they often follow their karmic paths. Like a dragon slaying hero willingly attacking a dragon that may have been born of the land's vitality. If they did kill it, the land would whither up and die and they wouldn't care less," Xeimei explains. The rest are shocked by what she had described, but Mina felt like this was an extreme discrimination case.
"If we were dealing with a human yeah. But he's not. So I have to deal with him. I won't let him kill anyone else," Izuku says while gripping his fist. He then says to Mina, "don't worry. He won't hurt you again, and I will pay him back for what he did." Upon hearing that three things happen. First Mina blushes and feels a tingling in her chest. Second a few of the girls look at her with envy, including Xeimei (though she tries to deny it). And third a huge set of hawk wings appear from Izuku's back and he sees how to better use the glaive.
"So that's how it works! No wonder I couldn't use the glaive to sever his divinity! I needed to feel need to avenge someone close to me! Thanks, Ashido!" Izuku says with excitement as he feels out how to move and draw the wings in and out. The rest of the girls are confused though and are looking at Izuku like he….. like he spontaneously grew a pair of wings. "I don't get it what is he talking about?" Mina asks Xeimei who looks to be contemplating the scene in front of her.
She nods before saying, "there are some tricky things involved with Campione and their authorities. Some require very specific activations, while others are passives. The strength you've seen Izuku use before is in fact born from the authorities of Herakles. I'm guessing the tough skin is part of it too?" "Yeah. It called Nemean hide. It makes it to where you need either divine weapons or attacks to hurt me, and I can generally ignore injuries," Izuku explains his other authorities including the one that let him beat, if only temporarily, Momotaro. "If I know a bit about the god involved I can use a poison dart to stun or paralyze my enemy. But I can only use it once during the day and three times at night. Also, I can move with the shadows if I use Xbalanque's authorities at night."
"Meaning Momotaro won't want to fight you at night again. But you need something else to defeat him and his subordinate gods. And we need to do it before Master Jonathon returns. We don't need to deal with him as well," Xeimei says while pacing back and forth. Reiko though stops her to ask about the two things she just mentioned. Izuku facepalms again because Xeimei dropped into a mumble spree about magic like he would and dropped some extra bombs he was hoping to not deal with.
"Haaaa….. Well I don't know much about the later but subordinate gods are basically what the dog, monkey and pheasant were. They don't have as much power as Momotaro but they have enough power and can support and protect the god that summons them," Izuku explains. Reiko nods in understanding as does Momo, seeing the act akin to certain quirks that create or summon something. Ochaco and Mina though are just confused and concerned about Xeimei. Given she started talking to herself in Chinese. Izuku gets her attention by speaking the language back, which surprises the girls. Izuku brushes this off as a normal perk of being a Campione.
She then remembers that she talked about the first Campione again and this time it is Izuku ordering her to give him some more details. Xeimei clears her throat before saying, "the main reason Master Jonathan is constantly disappearing is because of he goes off on adventures thanks to one of his favorite authorities. Namely one he took from the god Ratotaskr. He can basically be anywhere in the realms he wants with a thought. And I do mean all of them. Unfortunately, he tends to get sidetracked on his adventures and disappears for decent stretches of time. Especially once a few other Campione started appearing." Everyone in the room was reeling at the ability she had just described. Izuku meanwhile is nervous about the idea of fighting this man given he is not only older and has more authorities, but he has the ability to be anywhere he wants. Even in a battle.
Izuku then gets back to the main point to worry about. "I need to beat Momotaro. Hopefully he is still focused on me by tomorrow, and he won't come after you again Ashido." "Mina." Izuku looked back and saw that Mina was blushing. She said that Izuku should call her by her given name. "If you need someone you are close to….. well why not me?" Mina said with a small smile while looking down. Izuku blushed a bit before saying he also needed more details with Momotaro. "Leave that to me my master," Xeimei said with a coy smirk before kissing Izuku.
This made all the girls blush brightly and Mina feel especially jealous. Especially after they notice that Izuku and Xeimei are really getting into with the kiss and using a fair amount of tongue. When it is done, Izuku has a determined look in his eyes. And now he is mumbling about all of the details of Momotaro that Xeimei just gave him.
"WHAT THE HELL?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" Mina shouts while Ochaco is passed out from the blood rushing to her head. Reiko and Momo are much the same and question what the girl was thinking. "It was a teaching technique. Normally I would use magic and focus it on his head. But that doesn't work on Campione. Magic just breaks or just gets canceled out around them. But if you inject it like I just did, or like with my medicine he drinks it, the spell can work on them." While this helps alleviate some of the worry a few of the girls are thinking they lost a shot at Izuku.
Mina though decides she won't be outdone and asks Izuku to come a bit closer. "Um what's up Mi-umpgh!" Izuku says before Mina reaches up and kisses him. She doesn't go all in like Xeimei but she makes her statement. "I'm not sure if I really like you like that yet, but I do want you to get some payback for me and all the others who have died. So, think about that when you are fighting Momotaro tomorrow." Izuku smirks before saying, "don't you mean today. It's past midnight." The girls all look up and see he is correct. Mina just calls him a jerk quick before they all try to get some sleep.
Xeimei tells them they can stay with their room and each of the girls eventually pass out from the exhausting last few hours. Izuku isn't sure where he'll sleep, but Xeimei insists he sleep on the bed. When he tries to offer otherwise but the Chinese mage will not let him.
Most of the teens sleep so long it is almost noon before they wake up. Mina is better given the amount of magic Xeimei used to heal her, but her back and legs are still tender. So, Momo and Xeimei order room service to fill all of their bellies. Once that is done, Xeimei uses some more magic and some medicines to ease the pain. And they take some time exploring Okayama.
But when the sun starts to go down, Izuku nods to Xeimei and she takes the girls back to the hotel. Izuku meanwhile heads outside of the city to face Momotaro and his partners. Once he has reached the forest, he can sense his opponent. "I knew you would come." "Indeed. I'm impressed by your forethought. You made sure no others would get caught up in our fight, and you seem more confident than the last time. You truly believe yourself to be a hero. What is your name god slayer?" Izuku nods before breathing deep and saying, "Midoriya Izuku."
Momotaro nods before saying he will remember it drawing his katana. Izuku summons his glaive and rushes at Momotaro. When the two meet, Izuku can tell how the rogue god will strike and blocks at the proper times before countering with a few strikes of his own. Then Momotaro shifts to where Izuku gets blinded by the rays from the evening sun and the reflection off of the katana. And while he blocks the next katana strike, he can't counter the punch to his face from the monkey. Or the bite to his back from the dog.
When Momotaro goes to strike again, Izuku spins to slam the dog into Momotaro's side. Izuku then pulls out a dart and hits the monkey in the chest with it. The subordinate god then collapses, twitching slightly. Momotaro is angered by this and rushes at Izuku again. Izuku blocks and strikes again and again trying to find an opening.
(Inner world description)
The glaive works to sever the bonds of divinity of the god or entity that the wielder views as someone of revenge. And it can work against two different types of gods. However, not only must there be enough knowledge of a god, but the wielder must land a series or decisive blow to fully sever the enemies divinity.

Izuku notices that his opponent has his left side open, he slips by and slices Momotaro's leg and arm. Even though it wouldn't be obvious to most, Momotaro could feel some of his essence slipping away. This angers the young mythic hero of Okayama, and he relentlessly attacks Izuku. "You know these quirk or whatever things they are! They are WRONG! They shouldn't exist! And since these fools won't find a way to fix it I WILLL!" Momotaro rages at Izuku.
Izuku gets cut along his back and is bitten again, but what he was waiting on has finally happened. The sun has set enough. And he has three darts to use. The first one he wields he strikes the dog and paralyzes the beast. Momotaro is angered even more, and now the pheasant attacks the green haired teen to throw him off. 'Even with using all of my strength from Herakles, Momotaro is able to take it. That's an oni slaying hero for you.' Izuku thinks while striking again and again.
He then pulls the same trick he used against Momotaro the night before with his darts. But this time the peach hero cuts both of the darts down. "So much for that plan! Now die god slayer!" the rogue hero shouts as he strikes at Izuku. But Izuku just smiles before bringing his hand down on Momotaro's. And sticking out of the god's hand is a dart. The second one Izuku had thrown was a feint, and he kept the last dart in reserve for just this moment.
The pheasant then swoops in while in human form and kicks Izuku in the back of the head. She then grabs Momotaro and tries to get him away. But Izuku smirks before saying, "you're not getting away this time!" He speaks to his authority and unfurls his hawk wings.
He takes off into the sky and rapidly catches up with Momotaro. He then slices the rogue god across the chest before running him and the pheasant through. They all land back near the dog and monkey who were also starting to fade. Before Momotaro returns to the realm of immortality he thanks his partners. "You served me well to fight against the oni that had invaded my home."
He then looks to Izuku saying, "you will defend those near to you no matter what right?" Izuku nods with a fire still in his eyes. Momotaro coughing laughs before saying, "then maybe they can help you as well. Take that part of me and use it to defend others. And at times let them defend you. Until we fight again hero." And with that Momotaro fades out of existence. Then above Izuku a light appears above him. It looks like a peach and seems to posses two authorities. It then flies into and becomes a part of Izuku's inner world.
Izuku then sighs before calling Xeimei and telling her the battle is done. When he gets back the girls are all there to celebrate that he won and that he had stopped a mad killer. But they all get told they can't tell anyone about the world of magic. While Mina and Ochaco want to tell everyone Momo and Reiko do understand. "The world only became more stable in the last twenty or so years thanks to All Might. Finding out about all of what existed long before quirks. Let alone the fact that Izuku basically rules the world thanks to what he did. The panic would be insane!" Momo explained and the two girls understood.
Mina meanwhile has one more thing to do to Izuku. She pulled Izuku into another kiss before thanking him. While Ochaco looks on slightly jealously, Xeimei gives her a piece of information about the Campione. "They don't actually have to follow the normal laws, and they can and often have had multiple partners and wives or husbands. So, you could still get in there." Xeimei says with a teasing smile. While Ochaco is trying to covering up the rest who heard that were interested.
Meanwhile, in the US. Out of nowhere Samson Fredrickson appeared in the mountains of Utah. Over his shoulders were a few artifacts and jewels gathered after an adventure in the forbidden kingdom. As he was walking toward his enchanted home in the mountains, he could sense Izuku defeating Momotaro.
He smiles before tucking his hat down tighter on his head. "Maybe it's time I give that new kid a few lessons." The first Campione says to himself before pulling out his phone and calling for a flight to Japan. "I can teleport there but I don't want to because I just got back from another realm. C'mon you know how I do things. The kid needs a lesson. And I'm gonna give him a hard and harsh one," he says to the person on the line. His smile getting slightly sinister edge.
As much as I wanted to leave you wanting more, I just couldn't get this one out of my head, so I had to write it all. Please review and check out some of my other stories.
