The Heroic God Slayer
Chapter 13
Now it's time for the fight with a Norse variant of Poseidon. So I don't have much else to say on the matter. On with the show.
(No POV)
"Mina…. NO!" Izuku grunted out while his stomach was bleeding out on the rocky beach. He tries to pull himself to the sea and pursue Njord. But he starts to lose consciousness. "Midoriya!" Momo shouts as she and a few others find him. Kirishima had gotten worried about the two when the strange fog had settled in. Reiko herself feeling a strange presence and agreeing with the red headed hardening student. But when they found Izuku they were all shocked.
Momo quickly created some bandages and a pot before asking Todoroki to melt some of his ice. This time the bi colored boy doesn't hesitate. He makes a small block of ice and asks Kirishima and Tetsutetsu to break off the pieces. They do and Todoroki quickly boils some of the water to clean Izuku's wounds. Pony, Koda, and Reiko instead focus on looking for more herbs that had some healing potential. Sero though aids Momo in dressing Izuku's stomach wound. "What the hell could have hurt him this bad?" the tape user asks after they finish bandaging Izuku up.
It takes them about half an hour, but they stabilize Izuku enough for his Campione healing factor to really kick in. Izuku meanwhile had passed out from Momo making some chloroform to keep him from thrashing. "This is twice now that I've had to make this compound. And both times it was after a friend was hurt by a god." Momo says with a sigh. Kirishima looks at her funny before asking, "what makes you sure it was a god that did this?" "Seriously dude? You've seen what Midoriya can do firsthand! The only things that seem to phase him are those at the level of Master Jonathan!" Sero says a hand on his face.
"Wait a second. Where is Ashido?" Todoroki asks once the danger had passed for Izuku. All of the teen's eyes widen when they finally note that Mina was no where to be found. While Kirishima and Pony want to go search for her, Sero stops them with his tape. "Hold up guys. I'm willing to the one that did this to Midoriya probably has Ashido. Though who knows what they want her for." "Its probably best you don't think about it." The group hears behind them.
Izuku had regained enough consciousness to overhear the conversations that the rest were having. He tried to sit up, but the pain as well as Momo and Sero both forcing him back down was enough to get him to stop. "Easy Izuku. You lost a lot of blood. Impressive healing or not you need to wait and recover."
Izuku just shakes his head before saying, "I can't wait. That guy… Njord I think was his name. He took Mina. And I'm pretty sure he's going to have his way with her." When Izuku said that, all of the teens were shocked and terrified for what could or would happen to Mina. "Well then we need to-" Kirishima starts before Izuku stops him. Mentioning that they all can't overturn the demands a god makes. "Only Campione can. Our will and frankly insanity makes it to where we can rebel against their own. It's why we get called in to fight rogue gods." Izuku says while trying to sit up again.
But Sero decides to stand a bit firm and tell his friend, "You can't do anything for Ashido in the state you are in. Wait until you've healed a bit more." As he is saying that Sero is wrapping Izuku with his tape to get the young Campione to stay put. And while said Campione wants to refute the statement and go after Njord, he also knows Sero is correct. Momo then asks Izuku to trust them for now and to get some rest.
Izuku just sighs before giving a frustrated "fine" and laying his head back. Outside, Todoroki suggests that all of them should take shifts to watch over their camp. "And no one lets the girls out of sight. That Njord guy might come back and try to take the others." The other guys nod and the girls agree as well. While Pony at first thinks that they boys think the girls can't handle themselves, she reminds herself that they are dealing with a god. 'I guess it is just more of a strength or protection in numbers type of deal. They aren't trying to be sexist.'
With ideas set, Momo and Sero stay close to Izuku. While Tetsutetsu stays with Reiko and Koda. And Todoroki sticks close to Pony. During the night, Izuku has nightmare after nightmare about a few different things. First is that his power isn't enough to protect the rest. He sees Todoroki, Sero, Kirishima…. All of his male classmates dead. While he is bleeding out again. And opposite him, he sees a fair number of his female classmates either with a glazed over look in their eyes, a look of terror, or similar. With the most unsettling thing being that many of them have their costumes torn off or they have collars and chains on their neck. With Njord holding said chains, and a smirk on his face.
Another nightmare has Izuku seeing that his power failed and that all of his classmates are dead. Or comatose just like Bakugo. All because he couldn't stop of was unable to stop a god's rampage, which caused anything from a storm to an earthquake, to a massive war between heroes and villains. After the fifth nightmare and waking up in a panic, the pain Izuku was feeling before is gone.
He breaks free from Sero's tape while the rest are sleeping and tries to calm himself down. He sits by the fire and looks out over the sea. Thinking about where Njord is and how he can defeat the man. "He really did a number on you didn't he?" Izuku hears from behind him. He turns to see Tetsutetsu standing there with a smirk on his face. And with a frustrated sigh he just says, "I'm not in the best mood right now Tetsutetsu. Just go back to sleep."
"Yeah Tetsutetsu's not in right now. Can I take a message?" When Izuku hears that his eyes widen. He turns back again and sees that the iron body boy is standing in the same way he'd seen Jonathan stand before. Same smirk and tilt to his head. "Aniki? But….. how?" "It a mix of tricks. Fun thing we Campione can do, we can actually astral project our souls. And with me having an authority related to Psyche, I can use that to possess certain people." Jonathan says before sitting down.
The old Campione then mentions that he knew something was up when the tracking magic on Mina was suddenly out in the ocean of Vanaheim. And when Izuku asks why he went with Tetsutetsu, the man just says that the hardheaded teen was weaker mind. "Most of it is the fault of quirks, given it does break down the mind to make the power. But that isn't the important part right now."
He then asks Izuku what he plans to do. "I'm gonna hunt that son of a bitch down and kill him." "Not much of plan in that plan is there? Calm down before you do something that will get you killed. Or Mina killed." Jonathan says with firm glare directed at Izuku. While Izuku is about to fire back at Jonathan, the look sent his way was enough to get the green haired teen to freeze up. Izuku then asks Jonathan what he would do.
"It doesn't matter on what I would do. At the end of this all, really whatever happens next is up to you. I can't decide for you on what the best option or step is." Jonathan says before poking the dying fire and adding some more sticks to it. Izuku looks back to the man possessing the iron headed teen and then looks down before contemplating what his next move should be.
Izuku then claps his hands before asking Jonathan what he knew about Njord. Not in the sense of wanting to get enough information to make his glaive able to sever his divinity. "Just some other details about the guy. I've gotten the fact he's a god of the seas and what not, but I'd like some other detail." Jonathan nods before seeing that Izuku isn't relying on one authority to defeat this enemy.
So, with a smile he gives Izuku a few other details regarding the myths associated with Njord. From his representation as a god of fishing, seas, and storms, to his embodiment as a fertility god and his marriage to the jotunar turned goddess, Skadi. From this, Izuku starts to build a plan. As he refuses to let Njord hold Mina any longer than necessary.
(Mina POV)
What's this guy going to do to me? What about Izuku!? Is he going to live? Is he going to be able to save me?! "You shouldn't worry so much. Strange daughter of man. I have no intention of harming you. Instead, you should rejoice. I intend to bless you with children born of the divine." This Njord guys says after letting me down… wait a second… did his just say?
"You can't be serious! Not only am I waaayyy too young, but I thought you gods and the like hated my kind! You know quirked humans?" I say while trying to back away from the god. I feel a shiver as Njord looks me over. Please get me out of here!
He taps his harpoon on the deck before saying, "it is true that we find the lines that those humans of the past crossed distasteful. But…." As he says that part he walks over to me an puts a finger under my chin. I shiver at the look he gives me and the smirk that comes across his face. "That does not mean that we cannot find enjoyment in fornicating with beings such as yourself." Okay that's it! I'm getting away.
I start to run for the ocean. But right as I get close to the rail of the ship, he makes a wave of water appear right in front of me. He then swipes at me with his harpoon, and it rips away my hero costume. I fall to the side, and just as I'm sure he's about to do something to me he stops. "I see why you are especially afraid." The creepy god says before feeling up the scar across my back.
I know I'm trembling, and I can't even muster up enough courage to try and melt the ropes with my acid. Suddenly, I feel warm cloak cover me. And then this Njord guy picks me up again. He takes me to what I guess is his quarters on this strange Viking ship. "You need not worry for now. I told that young Campione that I would take you as my own in two days. If he does not show up in that time….. then I will follow through on my word. And if the Campione falls to my harpoon, then I will bless you with divine children born from me. Perhaps you could name one after him should he give me enough of a challenge." With that Njord just stamps his harpoon again and I'm trapped inside of his ship.
"Izuku… please….. help me." I say out loud as I wrap myself into the blanket. I thought I'd be able to be a hero. To be like All Might and the rest. I thought I would be a fun way to get to use my quirk and show off what I could do and to push back against bullies and villains. But now after all of this…. What can I really do? What is the point to even having a quirk? If what Jonathan said was true, then what could befall my own kids down the line? And what does it really mean to be a hero?
(No POV)
After Izuku's talk with Jonathan and the day had started to break, Izuku decided to get a bit more rest before the battle with the rogue Njord. "Good idea. We spent half the night discussing and planning, so you probably aren't at your best." Jonathan says before telling Izuku good night. "Hey what's going on? What have you two been talking about?" Kirishima asks as he and a few of the others wake up.
Jonathan just gives a quick morning to the rest, and they are all confused by the way that Tetsutetsu is acting. "Ah don't worry about it. He's just napping right now." Jonathan says before telling the group who they were actually talking to. Upon hearing that the whole group's jaws drop. But then Jonathan says, "I think I've been in here long enough. Izuku. Its on you now." "Uh hey guys….. when did I get out here?" Tetsutetsu suddenly asks while looking around in confusion.
Izuku eases back onto the cot that Momo had made for him and sets his phone to wake him in about three hours. While he is resting, the other teens take to fishing and trying to think of ways to find the rest of their classmates. Koda then calls out and the wyvern he had tamed comes down. "Maybe we can use him to search from the sky?" "Good idea Koda. Here take these with you." Momo says before making a set of binoculars. Reiko then offers to go with the quietest member to help look for the others.
With a nod from Koda and the wyvern he took to calling Kokuki, the pair took to the sky to find the others from UA. While the rest at the bay camp were more focused on gathering and surviving until this test of Jonathan's was done. Which was what most of the rest were doing. The Kamakiri and Ida teams met up and put together their understanding of the place to try and signal the rest. Itsuka and Jiro's groups eventually made it to the bay and were working their way toward the Izuku team camp.
Once Izuku was rested, he calmed his mind and tapped into the Wings of Horus. "The aim of our vengeance a vast distance away. For this we need swift wings to find the foe, and see he receive judgement." With the chant done, Izuku's Egyptian style wings appear on his back. But unlike the awakenings before, the wings had more of a luster and power to them. Momo decides to question this and Izuku responds with, "a little something Jonathan mentioned. Chants apparently aid in focusing the mind and magic of a Campione, so we can bring out the full potential if we chant to match with the authority." With that done, Izuku looks out to the sea and a vengeful fire burning in his eyes.
Before he leaves though, Momo catches him. "Be careful Mid- no Izuku. Save Mina, but don't forget to protect yourself as well." Izuku smiles a bit before telling the onyx haired girl he makes no promises. "But I'll do my best. Hold down the fort here." With that said, Izuku takes off to search from the sky.
It takes an hour of flying, but he does find the ship. Hidden in a small fog bank. 'No doubt made by Njord's authority over the sea. Luckily, I rule the skies to a point. So, his winds should be less of a problem for me.' Izuku thinks to himself. He flies close to the water and silently up to the sea god's ship. He doesn't make a big announcement about being there to fight him as that isn't his priority at the moment.
Instead he sneaks to what he assumes is the living quarters, while Njord is on a smaller boat fishing. Once there he finds Mina in a terrified and disheveled state. When Izuku first calls out to the girl, she initially lashes out at him. "Mina! Mina, its me! Its Izuku." The boy says before catching Mina's arms after dodging her acid. When she finally calms down and opens her eyes, she sees that Izuku really was there, and he was fine.
She starts to tear up before gripping Izuku in a tight hug. "Let's get you out of here." Izuku says with a smile. Mina nods but then Izuku notices that she isn't wearing any clothes. He blushes bright before looking around to find the girl something to wear. After finding a simple tunic, the two try to sneak out so Izuku can get Mina away from the battle that is about to take place.
"You did exceptionally well in avoiding me. I also commend the fact that you were more concerned about the girl that anything else. But that will not save you from this fight." The two hear that said all around them. But Izuku focuses on his enhanced senses and can tell where Njord will attack from. He quickly draws his katana and deflects the harpoon thrown his way. "Mina! Get out of here!" Izuku shouts before facing toward Njord.
The Norse god of the sea then materializes from the fog and mist he had created and spins his weapon. Turning the harpoon into a double headed axe, shaped like an oar. Mina meanwhile follows what Izuku ordered and tries to get to a smaller boat to avoid the fight that is about to come. The two warriors still on the deck stare each other down, before rushing to meet one another in a clash of steel.
Izuku and Njord trade blow after blow with their weapons. Njord's axe has reach and a bit more weight to it. Izuku's katana meanwhile is nimbler and more maneuverable, allowing the teen to get a bit closer with some of his strikes. When Njord tries to use the sea winds to his advantage, Izuku used the minor authority over the sky to negate them. "That won't work this time!" Izuku shouted before using the winds to blow Njord back and then push himself forward. The renewed clash sending the god through the mast of his ship and his quarters.
But Njord just takes advantage of the fact that blow knocked him into the sea, to better control the waters to attack Izuku. "You may have more domain of the skies, but I rule these seas!" Njord shouts before creating a series of water tendrils and hands to attack Izuku. Who takes to the skies to better evade and avoid each of the strikes and to find Njord again.
While this is happening, Mina had gotten to a smaller boat to get away from the battle with the god and god slayer. Thinking she was glad to be away from all of the insanity before her. But as she watched Izuku weave through the water hands Njord was attacking him with, she started to question why she was hoping to be a hero again. And what drove Izuku to do all of this. "Do you just want that woman all for yourself? To indulge in a more exotic type of female?" Njord shouts up at Izuku from the deck of his ship again.
Mina feels a bit depreciated at the god referring to her in that way, and she suspects that it might be part of the reason Izuku is fighting for her. 'Or he doesn't even care and just wants to win. Like Jonathan.' Mina thinks while trying to row away. But she stops when she hears Izuku's reply.
"It has nothing to do with how she looks or the fact she is a girl! Even if she was a man or boy, I'd still try to save her. I didn't want to save her to be some kind of white knight. You took my friend from captive, you attacked me, and threatened her while you held her. That is all more than enough reason to fight and stop you for me!" Izuku shouts before diving down to slice through the water gathered to attack him. He then says he wants to save her because she is his friend and that to know more about her. And he doesn't want her to fear what he is or what is out there. "BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A HERO!" Izuku roars before slicing through the watery shield Njord was protecting himself with. And cutting the man's right arm off.
With hearing that, Mina remembers more of what she hoped to become as a hero. And what inspired her as well. And she rows back toward Izuku to try and help him in some way. With the two warriors, Njord could not regrow his arm. But he could make a watery replacement. Which gave him more of a weapon to fight against Izuku. "Okay, so disarming him didn't work." Izuku says to himself while regaining his stance. Njord then tries to bring more water up from the seas.
But is far less than he originally was able to pull. "What? How is this possible?" Njord says before Mina jumps up and attacks the man with a kick and a bit of her acid. "Wasn't sure if that would work, but I'm glad it did." Mina say while catching her breath. Izuku asks what she did, and the acid girl smiles a bit before saying she kept pouring her acid into the water. "It may not hurt him much, but if his control is over sea water… well you just need to reduce the amount of sea water in the area." Mina says before wincing. Izuku looked down and saw the burns on Mina's hands from how much acid she put out to try and tip the scales in his favor.
Before Njord could retaliate against the two, Izuku quickly grabbed Mina and flew up into the sky. "I thought you'd be leaving this to me." "I did at first. But….. What you said when that Njord guy said that you were only saving me because I was exotic or whatever….. while I would like to say the fact that you would have done the same for anyone was a bit sad. I kind of understand what you meant. You will do whatever you can to save everyone, to be a hero no matter what. It's inspiring. Like All Might." Mina says before leaning her head into Izuku's chest.
She then says, "I don't want to be afraid. Of him or Momotaro. Of Master Jonathan. And especially not you. I want to be able to stand and fight by your side." Mina then looks Izuku in the eye and kisses him. Izuku is a bit surprised, but he quickly reciprocates. 'You will never fight alone Mina. I swear this to you. And I will make sure you can fight on same level as me.' Izuku thinks before the two teens light up with up in the sky.
Njord can't see what is happening, but he sets up some defense and works to move the acid away. He isn't ready though when a high-speed claw strikes him in the back. And then he gets blitzed from multiple angles. What he sees is Mina with a determined look in her yellow eyes, and a new form to show. The tunic she was wearing had been replaced with a leotard like armored outfit. That seemed to be decorated with fur around the breasts and waist. She was wearing no shoes but had fiery looking leggings of some sort on her legs, and gauntlest on her arms that had claw like extensions coming from them. Atop her head were a pair of round monkey ears, and a short tail was coming from her backside. And instead of her usual pink hair, she now had blonde hair in a slightly spiked up fashion.
While Njord was distracted by the girl, Izuku swooped in and slashed the man's back with his sword. With a grunt the sea god said, "interesting. You have the power to strengthen those at your side. This battle will be more interesting than I thought." With a twirl, Njord turned his axe into a harpoon again and rushed at Mina first. But she was on him before he knew it. She quickly kneed the man in the face, before curling into a ball and rapidly slashing at his back with her claws (think like how Sonic fights in his curled-up state). When she lands, she darts around and strikes the god from multiple angles.
While Njord was distracted, Izuku focused his magic into his katana and charged at the sea god. The rogue god was not prepared for attacks from two enemies at once and could not counter properly. Especially once Mina focused solely on his water arm. Filling the water that Njord had been controlling with acid over time. 'This boost Izuku gave me is just what I needed! Now I just need to trust in him to finish this.' Mina thinks while striking a few more times. While she has gained a boost, it isn't enough to fully defeat a rogue god.
That is what Izuku focuses on while drawing his glaive. While it cannot sever Njord's divinity, he can use the reach to pin the god's harpoon. Before getting in close and running the warrior through with his sword. Njord grunts in pain before coughing up a bit of ichor. Mina then puts her own power in and stabs the man in the back with her claws. Izuku decides to make sure the man cannot use his harpoon and uses his glaive to slice off Njord's other arm.
The Norse god of the sea can feel his life ebbing away and chooses to accept the defeat with honor and grace. "Valhalla awaits me for this battle. You fought well god slayer. You and the girl. Take care of my ship. Skíðblaðnir will serve you well. As will a little something else I'm sure you will inherit from me. Take care." With that said from Njord, the god fades into nothingness and both teens feel like they can relax.
Suddenly the ship shudders and shrinks down under the two. "OW! Okay that was weird. Any ideas on why that part happened Izuku?" Mina asks before scratching at her butt. This make Izuku snort before mentioning that she might want to get her monkey instincts in check first. Mina blushes before coyly smirking at Izuku. Saying, "sure there wasn't something else you were focused on while I was doing that?" Izuku blushes as well, before saying they need to focus on getting back.
He thinks back on what Njord said the ship was called and that he left it to him. "I wonder…" Izuku says before thinking about a different ship he knew of from his time as a hero otaku. Skíðblaðnir transforms under the two teens and turns into a copy of the Okie Mariner. Mina looks around before jokingly saying, "really? You have a magical ship and the first thing you turn it into is a copy of a hero ship?" "It was the first thing I could think of!" Izuku defends before commanding the ship to take them back to the beach they were staying at.
While they are sailing, Izuku checks on Mina to make sure she was really all right. "I'm fine Izuku. Though I gotta admit, this whole magic thing… its kind of a rush when it isn't terrifying me." Both teens get a laugh at that and decide to explore the ship a bit more. When they find what they assume to be the captain's quarters, Mina gets an even bigger laugh. The inside is decked out in all kinds of All Might themed gear. "You're a big fan of his huh?" Mina says with a huge smile. One that brightens up Izuku's mood after feeling embarrassed. He just says yeah before sitting down on the bed.
He then feels the exhaustion from the battle catch up with him and he lays down on the bed to sleep a bit. Mina decides to be a bit playful and lays next to him. She doesn't expect what happens next though. Izuku wraps his arm around her shoulders and pulls her in tight. The pink girl blushes at the action, but she makes no move to get away from him. Especially when she hears Izuku mutter in his sleep. "mutter mmmh….. I won't let anyone… don't have…. worry Mina…. not losing you." Mina blushes brighter before kissing Izuku again. "Sleep well. My king." Mina says before resting a bit herself.
When they reach the beach, all of the hero teens are shocked at the ship that appeared. Even more so when Izuku and Mina appear on deck. With Mina's newly enhance dexterity being shown when she leaps onto the railing and then the beach. Izuku meanwhile jumps down before commanding Skíðblaðnir to transform again. This time, it turns into a small ship he can put in a pouch on his hero costume. "Dude that ship is awesome! Think we can go for a ride?" Tetsutetsu says with a big smile. Izuku agrees, stating that they could use the ship to go fishing rather than relying on the selkies.
Kirishima and the rest are more intrigued by Mina's transformation. "Wait…. So does this mean that you….." Kirishima trails off with a smile on his face. Mina blushes before admitting that it was just like what happened with Xeimei. While Sero is jealous of Izuku (and Momo is jealous of Mina) Kirishima and Pony take a moment to tease the pink girl a bit.
Before they can focus on this matter more, the groups following the rivers had finally found the camp. "Yaomomo! Kirishima! Midoriya! Man is it good to see you guys." Jiro says with a smile. She and the rest had cloaks made of boar hide on, while a few others had tools and weapons made from the boar's tusks and bones. Upon seeing everyone, both classes were ecstatic to see one another.
While Momo was planning to make more shelters, Izuku said they didn't have to worry about camping anymore. He then smiles before turning Skíðblaðnir into a large ship with rooms for everyone. This gets the whole group celebrating and excited for what may be on this impressive vessel. "Don't get overly comfy kid. It still wouldn't hurt you to camp a bit." Kirishima says with a chop to Izuku's head. While most are confused, Izuku just sighs before mentioning that Jonathan was possessing Kirishima. "So this is what he did to me?" Tetsutetsu says with a raised eyebrow. With a quick affirmative, Jonathan mentions that they will be staying in Vanaheim for only two more days. So to wait out their time, the rest of the teens choose to gather some more materials for the camp. And hope nothing crazy happens for two more days.
Hope this didn't seem too OC for the world I'm setting up. Anyway, now Izuku has some new authorities from Njord. As well as a… well lets be honest, it could easily be a party boat. So given he's a teen, he might just take advantage of that. Please review.
