The Heroic God Slayer
Chapter 16
It's time for the end of the USJ. Though a very different end from what we got. We'll also peek in on Jonathan and All Might's fights against the mythical beasts. Let alone what AFO will do for the future. So on with the show.
(Izuku POV)
Okay, didn't expect this when I started class today. The villains weren't that much of a challenge and neither was that weapon or whatever. But this….. This could be a problem. "You seem confused, newest king of Japan. Have you not heard of the battles I had with the previous king of Japan?"
"Lord Kusanagi Godou." I hear Xeimei say behind me. So he was the one who ruled Japan before he….. "So what happened to him?" Athena seems to have a melancholic face when I asked that. And with a sad sigh she explained, "my prey had bested the King of the End. With the battle done, we believed all would be safe. But a new foe appeared that spelled the end for him. And then each of the Campione along the way."
Okay… Had a suspicion that had something to do with the end of the previous era. But the way she's talking about it. And that look. Maybe her relationship with Kusanagi was like what Jonathan's is with Freya? Well no time to think about that. I can feel the magic rising and can see her grip tightening on her scythe.
Then without warning, she rushes at me! I barely manage to block with my harpoon and katana, and she sends me flying. "I aided those monsters because I wanted to see if you had what it took to rule this nation after he fell. And if you could be the one to stop or slow this strange cycle of Gods and God Slayers. Let us see what you can do boy." She says to me with a combative, yet playful gleam in her eyes.
I shout to Aizawa and Vlad King to get away, but the two are already unconscious from the deathly word Athena unleased. Luckily though, Mina and Xeimei had thought ahead and grabbed the two to get them out of the line of fire. I wasn't expecting though for the two of them to rush in and knock Athena away from me. I might have enhanced them with the power from Momotaro. But I'm not sure they can really handle this.
"Mina. Xeimei. This could get rough. If you don't feel you can do this, I-" "My master. I will not walk away from this challenge if you will have me. My blades are ready." Xeimei says first with a nod. Mina just chuckles a bit before saying, "you are my king now. You saved me and gave me the strength to fight back against that which scared me. So I've got your back Mido- No Izuku. Or do you prefer Izzy?" I blush a bit at that before thanking both of them. I can only hope aniki and All Might will be able to handle those monsters. Because we've got our hands full here.
(No POV)
As Jonathan uses his portal to warp away the Hecatoncheires All Might and Manticore, he wasn't really aiming for anywhere in general. And when they drop, they land on a set of snowy mountains. Bouncing down the rocks and cliffsides.
Once they stop and shake off the pain, Jonathan says, "okay. That kinda hurt. Now where…. Oops." "Ow! Ah! Wait….. Oops! What oops!?" All Might says after sitting up from the crater he created. Jonathan just gives a nervous chuckle before saying he had dropped them into Nifleheim.
"Isn't that the realm of ice and mist or something?" "Yeah… I wasn't really aiming when I dropped us here… my bad. We need to get out of here fast though. Who knows what this realm could do to you." As the two are discussing, the monsters shake off their own disorientation and try to track their quarries.
Just as Jonathan is preparing a portal back to Midgard, the Hecatoncheires uses all of its arms to strike down on the pair. The first summons his shield, and then the number one hero leaps up and gives the creature the hardest punch he can to its face. Meanwhile neither of them notice the Manticore sneaking up behind Jonathan.
The blow to the hundred arm giant rocks it back, but it recovers quickly and swats All Might away. But before he can fly any further, he uses a double New Hampshire Smash to rocket himself back toward the battlefield. And just in time to notice the Manticore preparing to attack Jonathan with it's stinger. "Jon! Duck!" All Might calls out before using another New Hampshire Smash to launch himself at the lion headed creature.
Jonathan dodges the poisonous tail and launched stinger, and then the Manticore is hit with a full body tackle from All Might. "As much as I wish we could work together, I think we need to fight these things solo." "Agreed. You handle the Manticore Toshinori. I should be able to defeat the Hecatoncheires with general ease." With the two's plan set, the number one hero rushes forward and throws the Manticore a distance away. So as not to get caught up in the eldest Campione's battle.
Once he lands, he squares up with the monster. Keeping a close eye on its tail. 'The poison from this creature can kill me in one hit. I have to be careful.' With all of his experience, All Might is able to easily dodge and deflect the barrage of sting strikes and launched stingers from the Manticore.
But he forgets about the front of the body. Getting slashed across the chest and then bitten by the lion claws and head of the creature. While still holding the hero with it's teeth, the Manticore brings up its tail and prepares to strike. "CRAP! Detroit! SMASH!" All Might shouts while punching the hinge of the jaw on the creature.
Aside from giving him some space to move from the sting strike, it has a different effect as well. Namely, breaking the jaw of the monster and giving All Might the chance to pull himself free with less injury. "Wasn't sure if that would work on a mythical beast. But I'm glad some factors can translate no matter the creature." All Might says while nursing his injury.
The Manticore charges again and All Might again focuses on evading all of the attacks looking for his opportunity. It comes after the hero deflected another set of attacks from the Manticore's tail. The creature reeled back and tried to slash at All Might with both claws to try and pin him.
"Time to end this!" All Might shouts as he rushes as fast as he can. And then gives the creature first a Detroit Smash that just stuns the creature. Though he anticipated this. Saying, "a dangerous mythic beast should be able to handle a lot! But lets see just how much! Minnesota SMASH!" All Might shouts before unleashing hundreds of blows into the soft underbelly of the Manticore.
The blows are enough that the Manticore coughs up a bit of blood. And is sent flying after All Might shouts, "PLUS ULTRA!" and unleashes one last huge hit to send the creature across the massive frozen range. "Whew! That would have been so much more difficult if I hadn't met those elves. I wonder if Master Jonathan had that planned?"
Speaking of, while All Might is facing his dangerous beast Jonathan is staring down the Hecatoncheires. The creature had one club before, but now it has punched the mountain sides and formed two more weapons out of the rock and ice. Jonathan snorts before saying, "I applaud you creativity. But that won't help you."
The Hecatoncheires roars before attempting to smash the first with his clubs. Jonathan just smirks, before casually dodging the first swing. Then when it swings again and again, the Campione uses his power of Ratotaskr to teleport out of the way of the strikes. He does this a few more times to note the pattern in which the hundred armed giant fights.
"I think you've had enough of those toys." Jonathan says before pointing at the giant. He makes a few quick movements with his finger. And suddenly all of the clubs are cut in half. The beast loses its balance and falls toward Jonathan. Who teleports away, but not before leaving a little gift for the Hecatoncheires.
Where some of the limbs had landed, Jonathan left some strong fireworks. And right as the beast was shaking out of the fall, the fireworks exploded. And blew apart about 20 limbs from the attack. While it was roaring in pain Jonathan was just smiling at how easy he felt this was.
"You may be a Hecatoncheires, but its clear you aren't one of the older ones. Now then. Though feared by all, these chains are weapons to. Unleash from mine body. To bind and burn the enemy before me!" With Jonathan's chant and a clap of his hands, magic radiates off of him. It flows into the ground, and then bursts forth. Breaking apart the mountain.
What breaks forth from the ground is a barrage of chains and shackles that wrap up the multiple arms of the Hecatoncheires. Some even burning its skin as it tries to break free. It roars as it tries to break out and strike Jonathan. But his opponent continues to smirk.
"That was easy enough. And now… time to die." Jonathan says before holding his hand toward the Hecatoncheires. He barely makes a move and then the effects happen. First the creature is frozen solid, then burned again (melting the ice but also greatly injuring the Hecatoncheires) and then is struck by lightning from multiple points.
It collapses to its knees, all but dead. And then with a snap of his fingers, the creature is sliced apart into small fragments. "Glad that's done. What a hassle. Now I need to find Toshinori. Izuku should be fine."
Back at the USJ, each of the magical hero students are trying to get a strong hit on Athena. Mina opened up with a rush toward the goddess. Using her rapid strikes from her claws and kicks to injure Athena. But the goddess evades or deflects all of the strikes with her Aegis or scythe. Mina then evades around the counter strikes from goddess, before getting tripped up by some rubble.
"Just as planned!" Athena shouts before trying to bring her blade down on Mina. But Xeimei steps in next. With jian and naginata, she stops the attack on her sister and pushes Athena back. Then kicking a large chunk of rubble at the goddess as well, before engaging with her blades again. Using the naginata for distance and range and using her jian for defense and deflection.
And what has Izuku been doing? He is focusing on the knowledge that Xeimei had passed to him about Athena. Forging it into his glaive to damage the goddess. 'Not enough shadows to us Xbalanque's authorities. Let alone how good her reflexes are, so I can't use my dart. I've already used the powers Momotaro. Even the ability to counter the greater strength of others only goes so far. Looks like I'm stuck using the Herakles and Horus to finish this fight.'
With Izuku's musings done he nods before taking out his glaive and engaging Athena. "So you possess an authority similar to my prey. But it will not help you in this fight!" the rogue goddess says before pushing Izuku back. When the two clash again, Izuku strikes again and again to try and make an opening to start the severing of the goddess's divinity.
But Athena already knew the weakness of the weapon. "While it can sever divinity of more than one opponent or authority, you have to actually land a blow. Godou's could transport his enemy to the glittering world of golden swords, and then use all of those blades to force the power to be severed. You on the other hand can only attack with the weapon in your hand." Izuku groans in his head as he knows she is correct.
The two continue to exchange hits, with each capitalizing on the fact that their weapons are pole arm like. Athena first using the butt of the staff to impact Izuku's stomach before following up with an uppercut slice of her scythe. Izuku meanwhile deflects the attack to the side before smacking Athena in the face with the center staff of his glaive. Making the goddess reel back slightly.
But Izuku starts to worry when his leg feels like it is seizing up. He looks down and sees a snake coming up and it had bitten him. And his leg starts to turn to stone. "Too bad boy. You underestimated the whit that makes Athena who she is!" Athena says before using her blade to hook under Izuku's glaive and cut it in half. Tossing the broken weapon away.
She then slices at Izuku. Causing blood to erupt from his chest, and he then gets knocked back. All while his lower half is still being petrified. Athena lets out a disappointed sigh before saying, "so sad that you could not live up to the king I viewed with interest. Oh well. Time to end this." She brings down her scythe on top of Izuku. Aiming to cleave him apart.
The young hero and Campione doesn't give up though and uses his harpoon and katana to hold up and away the scythe coming down on him. "You still fight? Even though you are being turned to stone and have no way to defeat me?" "I may not be able to defeat you as I am. But I have an advantage you don't. I'm not alone!"
Right as he says this, Athena is slashed in the back by both Mina and Xeimei. But not just by their own blades. In each of their hands is one half of Izuku's glaive. He had noted after training with it for a while that the pole arm could be separated into individual kopesh blades. And the girls used this and the blades they already had to strike the rogue goddess of wisdom.
The attack weakens Athena's own, and Izuku can push up her scythe to impact on the ground. He then uses his harpoon and katana to stab the goddess in the abdomen. Before drawing the latter and slicing the rogue goddess's head off.
Once some of the adrenaline from the fight wears off, he winces in pain at the cut to his chest. "Damn! Should've thought about that. Glad you two caught on to what I had in mind when my glaive "broke". Figured it would be one of the only ways to catch her off guard." Izuku says while sitting down and letting the two look him over.
Mina though is chewing him out slightly for being reckless. "But I'm also really glad you won Izuku. Just don't scare me again." Xeimei just chuckles before saying, "yeah that's probably impossible. Campione have their own obsessions and often follow them. His being about trying to be a big hero."
"Then perhaps I can help with some greater insights." The three hero students here this and look around. Before laying their eyes on the head of Athena looking at them. And then speaking again. While Mina is freaking out, the other two are less surprised. Given how some of Izuku's first gods killed did similar.
Athena then commends Izuku for his will to finish her off. "And for your own wit. Using allies, I had just assumed you would not be using. But you saw a greater plan in using them to aid you…... So be it. Take the wit and wisdom of Athena as yours. And use it to rule as you see fit." Athena says before fading off into the realm of immortality.
Above the teens though, a light appears. Then floating down to become one with Izuku and his inner world. He just huhs before realizing that they still had things to worry about. "The villains! Especially the lead two! We need to find them." Xeimei and Mina nod before each taking off to find their quarry.
Mina using her enhanced speed, sprints around the entire stadium looking for Tomura and Kurogiri. While Xeimei taps into the enhanced senses granted from the Dog authority Izuku gifted her. Trying to pick up on the general smell of death and decay coming from both of the enemies. But they could find nothing.
While they had been fighting the rogue goddess, Kurogiri had awakened and slipped out of the blood bindings and got over to Tomura to evacuate him from the USJ. 'This battle is beyond what we could have believed. Especially given we summoned a goddess. And that boy defeated her. The master must know what has transpired.' And with that, the black fog villain creates a warp gate away for himself and Tomura.
After searching for a while, the trio reconvened at the center to discuss if they found anything. And when then got there, the other heroes had arrived. "Where are All Might and Jonathan? Surely they weren't-" "We're fine. Just had to deal with a pair of monsters. So little brother. You already put that little pissant in his place?" Jonathan said after teleporting himself and All Might back from Nifleheim.
"Uuuuhhhhh. About that." Izuku says with a rub to the back of his neck. He explains everything once the villains had been rounded up, and the students evacuated from the area. Once he was done though, all of the adults have disconcerted looks on their faces. Even Jonathan. "The fact that a goddess aided them in any way is… shocking and disturbing to say the least."
Nezu agrees before asking the children to leave while they discuss matters presented to them. The teens are about to comply but Jonathan stops this. "Its one thing for Xeimei and Mina to leave. But Izuku should stay. He does have dominion over you after all." "That's what you think. If you think I'm willing to let my student rule over me, you have another-Guck!" Aizawa started before Jonathan used his magatama strings to wrap around his neck and slam the insomniac to the ground.
Nezu placates the elder Campione by saying that they can stay. "You do make a point, but he is still young. Both in terms of experience and knowledge. He can weigh in on these matters, but it would be best if- for now- he follows what we say." Jonathan just gives the rodent a look that almost make the creature leave pellets in his pants. He lets out a disgruntled sigh before sitting down again.
Izuku meanwhile has only been minorly listening. He was instead focused on figuring out what his new authority could do. Let alone its activation. When he does tune into the conversation though, he notes that they might have bigger problems going forward. "If this happened once… then there could be others that could do the same. Even if it is nothing more than an artifact in a collection. We should probably check all the private collections to be sure this can't happen again."
Nezu agrees and asks (politely and submissively, mostly to Jonathan) for the Campione's help in this matter. While the oldest declines, Izuku agrees. "I've been away from home for long enough. Its time Sam and I return to America." Many of the teachers agree, with some feeling extra relief that the monster was leaving, and others wonder what could come next for them in these strange new times.
Midnight though is a bit saddened that the two can't continue to explore what had begun between them. But Jonathan assures her that he'll be back. "Its not like the kid could keep me away. On another note; take this." Jonathan says before handing Midnight a paper talisman. He explains that it was a portal to his home in Utah. "I case you feel like coming to me, instead of me coming to you." The man says with a coy smile.
Though Sam does note that they should leave on a plane rather than him teleporting. "So I mean….. You two do still have a night…. Wherever that could lead." Sam says with a shrug. The two share a look as if to say they both know exactly where it will lead. Izuku and his girls also have an idea and blush a touch at what they can imagine the two will be doing later tonight.
I'll admit I may have made the Athena fight a bit shorter because I'm just writing it rather than animating it. Because frankly if I was doing that… I could probably extend all three fights out to be their own episodes. But that isn't as important. What is though is setting up things for later in the story. Please review!
