AC: I also want to thank my Beta-reader FollowerOfAnhamirak for his time on this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.

At the farm, everyone finished eating their meal and prepared to rest. In the house, there was little to do that watch the news. The creatures nodded at the lies that were spread around.

"And the catastrophe at Summer Vale is still unknown at the moment. The president orders everyone to avoid the city until the matter is settle. He also warned that the surrounding areas might be at risk as time moves one. We are wondering what is going on there, but it seems, according to our sources, that a chemical agent as been accidentally released in one of the two laboratories of the Health Institute. More after these messages."

"What a bunch of nonsense," Agitos grunted.

Arias rolled his eyes, "Talk about controlling the true."

"You think they are going to believe that creatures from another world that can control the mind and planned to invade the Earth will be taken seriously?" Annie asked the Overworlder.

The ram creature sighed and played with his fingers, "No."

Intress sighed, "At least, no one will try to approach the city for a while."

"Freelance reporters might try to find the true and a few curious people might approach it. It's like movies where the heroes do or is pushed to do something stupid," Tom sighed as he remembered those.

Donald sighed, "Anyway, we should rest for the night. Tomorrow, I have to take care of the farm."

Tom stood up, "I can help."

"Thanks."

Intress smiled, "I'll help too, since you are allowing us to stay here."

Arias grumbled a few incoherent words that he agreed to it.

Rothar nodded negatively, "No. I am not someone who can do this stupid stuff. I'm a warrior."

"I cannot even take care of a plant. They will all withered on me," Agitos warned them.

Kaz sighed at the prospect of working, but there was nothing else to do. He whispered, "Me too. I'll… help."

Once everything was settled, the grandparents arranged the rooms so everyone can sleep for the night. The house was big enough for the creatures to rest in two of the rooms. Tom and Kaz mother in another one. The two best friends were in one of the last one available.

Chapter 82: A Night At the Farm

Kaz had trouble falling asleep. Everything that happened today was still spiralling in his mind, "Tom?"

"I'm up," he replied. The boy opened the light.

"Pretty early on. Can't sleep that well," he nervously chuckled.

The sun was barely disappearing in the horizon. The night didn't fully claim the land.

"Yeah. A lot happened today. I'm… glad we're all okay," Tom sighed.

"But everyone at home isn't. Those who manage to get away, what is going on with them?" there was many questions in his mind.

"M-maybe Crellan knows. I'll call tomorrow," he replied.

Kaz realised something. Since sleep wasn't coming yet, he decided to focus on that. He grabbed his scanner, "I forgot to check if we got anything. I'm sure Sarah and Peyton messaged us."

"Me too," he grabbed his own.

The two nervously chuckled at how many the got form their friends.

"They were worried for us so much," Tom admitted as he sent a reply. It barely took a few seconds before he got a reply.

Call us now!

"Sarah is pissed," the boy sighed before he called her.

Sarah and Peyton appeared in the scanner, "There you are! We've been trying to call you for day!" she was in a bad mood, or just extremely worried. The boy went with the second option, seeing how she seemed ready to cry.

"Dude. We were wondering all day if you went Zap!" Peyton made a few seconds before raising his hands, "I obey M'arrillian stuff."

Kaz went by the side of his friends, "It was a close one. We manage to escape the city with our moms," he sighed as he resumed what happened. Tom gave his side of the story, "And we drive away. Like those car chases action scene. They probably got most of the people in the city."

"The military won't come in for a while. They have nothing to protect their mind," Tom replied.

"They know about that?" Sarah asked.

The Underworlder player nodded, "Yeah. They seem to be in contact with them. They are trying to find a way to protect their mind from the M'arrillians. For now, we are on our own."

"We can't let them control the military or it will be over for our world," Tom sighed.

"Don't worry Tom. Good thing you are safe now bro! W-where are you by the way? You don't seem to be in an hotel," Peyton noticed.

"We are living in my grandparents house for now. We explain a little of what is going on, but the rest will be tomorrow. I do wonder why the creatures showed up to save us."

"You too? Who are they?" Sarah asked.

"Arias, Intress, Agitos and Rothar," he replied to her.

Kaz grumbled, "Rothar," as anger seemed to come out of his body.

Unknown to them, the minotaur creature sneezed and shivered as if the room he rested suddenly got cold.

"We got Ario, Gathup, Odu-Bathax and Wamma," Peyton explained before he winked at them, "My parents are cool with them, just not about the accidental damage Odu-Bathax caused with his weight."

"And it wasn't easy to explain to my parents. My mother panicked about those giant bugs as she thought they came to invade the Earth and not protect us. My brother had to really stick with me. It took hours for her to not try to fry the Danians. Wamma is not over it yet," Sarah sighed.

"I can't feel my face," they heard the voice of Wamma complained.

"And it really creeps me out that I got coded by the M'arrillians. Damn, Wamma was really worried and did everything to be sent here instead of another Danian," Sarah sighed with a small smile.

The two friends knew that their friend was happy that the chubby Danian came with them.

"I was about to return him when you called, so it's easy to talk," Peyton chuckled.

The two looked closer and saw that they were outside.

"Anyway. Are you hurt?" Sarah worryingly asked at the moment the thought came to her.

"My mom has been hurt at her ankle when Aval'par tried to get her. His mom avenged her by flattening his leg," Kaz replied.

"That is the power of karma!" Peyton declared.

They had to agree that the creature got what he deserved in a bit of ironic way.

"Your family took it well?" Sarah asked Tom as she returned to the previous subject.

"Yeah. It wasn't that hard when dad explain it to mom… after he shot Arias with her gun," the boy replied. He remembered he shot a M'arrillian too.

"Was he hurt bro?"

"Not a lot. The bullet didn't enter in his skin."

"Not surprising. I mean, I was almost K.O. by Mudeenu Flash Kick while the creatures are still strong and kicking," Kaz thought back at that encounter. It wasn't a found memories, despite how many times he tried to forget that fight. It never left his mind, "It's not that hard to imagine a gun wouldn't hurt that much."

"Good thing she didn't try a shotgun," Sarah sighed.

"A what?" the voice of Ghatup asked.

"A dangerous gun that can explode someone face if shot from really close," Peyton replied, obviously thinking about the video games where zombies or monsters head exploded by a well-placed shotgun blast.

"Not the worst weapon I've heard about," Ario replied, unshaken by that information.

"And it surely cannot pass our exoskeleton," Odu-Bathax proudly replied.

An unknown teasing voice came, "What about your solid abs Odu?"

"Don't touch me human!" the blue Danian replied. They quickly heard him walking away.

"That's my brother. He is just teasing Odu-Bathax, his favourite creature. As I said, he really vouches for me in front of my parents," she replied a bit. She seemed exhausted, "I'm really… Really glad you are okay. I couldn't stop thinking that something might happen to you both," she raised her voice as she said both, as if she tried to cover something else.

"Dude. You better be careful. You sure everything will be okay at the farm?" Peyton asked.

"Unless they come here, we will be fine," Kaz replied with a small smile.

The two friends at the other side of the scanner sighed and let out small smile.

"You better be careful out there."

"Mom said dad will call us if the M'arrillians are approaching the farm. Also, we don't where else to go later. We don't have a lot of place and the family is pretty much disperse in Summer Vale."

"My family too. Summer Vale," Kaz sighed.

"Hey. Maybe we should convince our parents to join you," Peyton suggested.

"Not so fast Peyton. We have no way to get to them anyway. Odu-Bathax and Wamma are both too heavy," Sarah sighed.

"Yeah. They will destroy our parents' cars," Peyton sighed.

Gathups face appeared behind the boy, "You do know that Maxxor and Chaor are worried for you. I mean, you didn't see how Chaor freaked out when you were coded Kaz."

Tom remembered it and forgot to mention that, "Yeah. He used everything in one attack after you were coded out."

Sarah turned towards the orange lizard and grumbled when a bit of his beard was on her face.

Ario face appeared near Peyton. The two didn't notice a bit of white on his mouth, "We will need to hear a full report with more details of what happened at Summer Vale. It will be useful for us and The Alliance."

"Yes," the two teenagers replied to the creature. They gazed at each other's. They wondered if the Organisation might call them and get information out of them.

Tom wondered if Codemaster Crellan would contact him. Still, "We have to explain my family first. They known very little about Perim and today was a little too much already. Us too."

"Yeah. You escaped those M'arrillians," Ghatup nodded in comprehension.

"Yeah. By the way, any idea what is going on in Chaotic after everything?" Kaz realised they knew nothing that happened back there. He had less knowledge than his best friend in the matter.

"After you disappeared and the M'arrillian reached the portal, they damaged it. It still has a little energy before we went through. The Codemasters told our rulers than they will send eight creatures, two per tribes. They refused that our leaders come here, from their superior words. That's why Theb-Saar isn't here. He couldn't come back."

"Really? Anything else?" Sarah asked.

Odu-Bathax coughed as his face also appeared and pressed everyone together. They grumbled as they lacked space to be seen in the scanner screen, "Yes. Najarin is supposed to bring books and also some tablets from Kaizeph. He thinks that he can find something about the portal there. If not, any clue where or how to repair the portal."

Wamma didn't show up, but spoke his mind, "He also said that if it was built before, it can be fixed. No one knows anything about it, not even the genius who first built it."

"We cannot know anything else since we are here. Only the Codemasters can share any information's through you," the green Mipedian concluded.

"Good and… what's on his mouth?" Kaz asked Peyton, "Ario's mouth."

"Guess he didn't clean his face after eating mom's cream pie," the boy replied.

The creature just walked away and grumbled a few things under his breath, that the two couldn't hear.

"You got him," Gathups snickered.

The others also giggled. It was kinda funny that something that mundane showed up like that.

"Anyway," Sarah yawned, "Now that I know you are fine… I'm really… Really tired. Good night you two. Call us tomorrow," she waved at them.

"See ya tomorrow bros," Peyton waved at them.

"Bye!" they replied.

The group ended the communication. The two teenagers returned to bed and closed the light.

Before Kaz put his glasses away, he watched the sky, "They are much more stars here than back home."

"Yeah. It brings a little peace," Tom replied.

The two watched it. Kaz put his glasses away, "Tom. Promise me we will be safe. I know I got coded…That it might feel real for you… Anyway… What I meant is: I don't want to lose you for real. Not as a code, but the real you."

"Me too. We will get over this together. Our family too. And our friends."

"Hope we can make the M'arrillians regret this," his best friend concluded before yawning.

"I'm glad they are safe."

"Much more them than us."

"Night Kaz."

"Goodnight Tom."

The two slowly felt asleep, now that their mind was in relative peace.

AC: This is the end of this chapter.

Next: Planification.

Sarah and Peyton were certain that their town would be next. Worried for their friends, they were interested in the suggestion of the creatures.
