Codemaster Crellan received the report from the organization on Earth. He had sent a message to the four humans and hoped they would reply fast. He knew they were safe, but the creatures around him wanted confirmation of their safety.

The Codemasters could hardly ignore the four rulers behind them waiting for answers.

They were all in the dark room with the many computers that the Codemasters used to oversee everything and collect information. The problem was that the creatures had found the location and were demanding news on the humans.

Imthor grumbled. He knew that letting the creatures into the room was a bad idea, "Can you please let us concentrate? We need to find any information possible about the portal."

"We don't have enough time for this!" Chaor growled furiously. He still wasn't over what had happened to Kaz, "The M'arrillians are on the Cothica and there is nothing we can do!"

The others agreed with him.

"None of them are completely safe," Maxxor grumbled.

Imthor gave a quiet gaze at the other Codemasters. They agreed to say nothing about what the soldiers on Earth were doing.

Hotekk sighed, "We told you that they are safe! We have the confirmation that they are all out of the city!"

"The M'arrillians are going to control the minds of humanity soon," Theb-Saar wisely commented.

Azsil crossed her arms, "It is only a matter of time. You told us that humans had nothing to protect their minds."

The Codemasters glared at Hotekk. He dropped his head at their glare. He knew it was his fault they had that pointless pressure on their shoulders.

Codemaster Crellan tapped his fingers, "Okay. You are not helping anyone. You are just worsening everything here. We cannot do more than we are doing right now as long as the portal isn't functioning," he sighed loudly as he put his fingers on his eyes. He tried to push his thoughts away, "Anyway. Did Najarin get anything to help us? Lore?"

Imthor hoped that they would have a clue soon. They needed peace to focus on their task. They had to watch three things at the same time on the two worlds.

Maxxor waved his hand quietly, "There is nothing else we have right now. They are still searching for anything in the old library."

The leader of the Codemasters sighed. He needed a way to get some peace.

Crellan had an idea, "Maybe we can enter in communications with the players. We can lend you one of the screens for you to use. We will be able to focus on our task while you get what you want."

Imthor took that suggestion, "Follow me. The day is advancing on Earth and I'm certain they aren't busy with anything. They are teenagers after all."

The creatures followed him, "I can only choose one scanner," they reached a computer and tapped a code to enter in it, "Who do I- No fight," he ordered before he asked the question, "Who do I call?"

They all named the one they chose to guide them to the Cothica.

"Tom," Crellan raised his hand, "He is with Kaz in the farm. There is a high chance they are together right now. It is also lunch time, so the chances are higher."

"Do it!" Maxxor and Chaor ordered the Codemaster.

Imthor sighed as he put them into contact.

Chapter 85: LifeLink

The four creatures saw the screen come to life and waited to see if the others would answer. There was some strange writing on the screen which they knew was the language of the Cothica. Or one of them as the Codemasters seemed to use another one between themselves.

"Hello? Codemaster Imthor!" Tom was surprised when his face showed up on the screen.

"What's going on?" They heard of the voice of Kaz not far away.

"I was annoyed by the creatures and I decided to let them talk with you as we need our full concentration for what is to come," Imthor answered before he stood aside and let the two rulers stood in front of the cameras.

Maxxor was the first one to talk as they couldn't see Kaz yet, "Tom. It's good to see that you are okay."

"Thanks. Things were pretty bad here though. Still, Intress and Arias were here to help and we went to my grandparent's farm," Tom replied.

"Who are you talking to?" The voice of a woman they had never heard.

"It's Maxxor mom, from the Overworld," Tom replied to his mother.

"Who is that?"

"It's my mom Maxxor."

"What happened?" Chaor ordered as it seemed this was going nowhere.

"My lord," the voice of Agitos came.

"What happened?" The ruler of the Underworld growled.

Tom sighed while his best friend appeared by his side, "I was in my house when I heard a gunshot. Mom fired at Arias with her pistol in self-defence."

"It hurt a lot!" Arias grunted.

Kaz went on, "I was at the mall when the M'arrillians showed up. I hid somewhere and Agitos came to save me before they caught me. We escaped and then went home while Rothar saved my mother from a M'arrillian."

"We then escaped from the city and avoided the M'arrillians from capturing us, but it was a close one," Tom concluded.

The two rulers knew this was the short version.

"Are you safe here?" Maxxor asked them.

"Yes. The M'arrillians didn't chase us here, but we don't know if they'll come here eventually. The army is watching them in the city right now. If we got nothing, I guess they are still in Summer Vale," Tom sighed when he thought back of his home. He already missed it. They had left pretty much everything behind.

Chaor warned his soldiers, "You better not think of slacking off. The M'arrillians can show up at any moment."

"We won't," the two Underworlders replied to their ruler.

The Underworlder gazed at Kaz. He let out a very small and barely noticeable smile as he knew Kazzy was safe and sound. He crossed his arms, "You. What do you think you were doing when you got code out of the blue like that?! You died right in front of us! It's just because of luck you are still around on Earth!"

Kaz gulped, "I…I don't know what happened when I got coded. I just saw the message that my code had been destroyed and then that the M'arrillians had invaded."

Chaor thought about the little time they had together in the underground of Chaotic. It meant nothing to the boy as he had no memories of it. It was only him that remembered their little bonding together. It hurt a little, but he didn't let it show. He focused on being angry/relieved that Kazzy was unharmed, "You better tell us if anything happens in the Cothica," he crossed his arms.

"I will."

"Do you know anything about Peyton?" Theb-Saar asked.

"And Sarah," Azsil demanded.

Tom was the one who answered, "Yes. We called each other yesterday. They're okay. None of the M'arrillians showed up in their town. The Mipedians and the Danians are there."

The blue Mipedian scratched his chin, "Do you have any plan on your end?"

"Nothing for now. We will wait and see. Dad is still in the military base. We don't have anywhere else to go," Tom replied.

Kaz added, "Yeah. Our options are limited. Everyone we know is probably under the control of the M'arrillians," Kaz thought about something. The creatures could see it, "And what about you? What is going on in Perim?"

Chaor grunted, "Can't do anything with the portal broken."

"Najarin is searching in Kaizeph to see if there is anything that could help. There was nothing in his castle. The scribes are searching in Kiru City. So far, we have nothing though," Maxxor replied.

"Same in Al-Mipedim. We are searching the old books and parchments, but we have no results so far," Theb-Saar sighed at the little success they had had.

"Nothing in the Underworld. Obviously."

"And nothing in Mount Pillar," the queen of the Danians grunted.

The creatures were all frustrated by the little progress they made.

"We are helping with the search for any documents. We took everything we could in Chaotic when we built everything, but have found little so far. There are very few documents about it as it all came from explorers or someone else. We did however obtain a few documents about this place. It is currently being translated, but it will take time. Those documents were from another era. It looks like the Egyptian hieroglyphics," Codemaster Imthor explained what they were doing.

The two humans nodded. They were surprised and impressed by that little detail.

"We just have to hold on or find a way to fight back," Tom concluded as he gazed at his best friend.

"It will take too much time to make everything to protect an army from the mind control power of the M'arrillians," Theb-Saar commented.

Codemaster Crellan heard that and turned towards him, "Wait. Theb-Saar, we need to have the material of that battlegear and we need to analyze it as soon as possible!"

"W-what?" the creature asked curiously.

"I have an idea. I'll need to get one and analyze it. There might be a way to quickly replicate it," the codemaster approached the creatures.

"You mean with mass production?" Tom grandfather asked when his face appeared near the screen, "A demon?" he frowned as his gaze went to Chaor.

"No. He is an Underworlder. In Perim, he isn't a demon," Tom quickly corrected his grandfather.

Demon was an unknown factor in the mind of the creatures. It was a word they never heard in their mind anymore. Still, it had a very negative connotation to it.

"I really need to understand more of this Perim one day. I don't get everything," Donald sighed.

"Don't worry grandpa. I'll explain everything after dinner," Tom replied.

Maxxor coughed, "We need to get back to the topic."

Annie appeared behind the boys, "So this is Maxxor?"

"Who are you?" the Overworlder asked politely. He could see some features on her face that were similar to Tom.

"I am Annie Major, mother of Tom. You better have been kind with Tom," she warned him.

He smirked, "I have been. Not at the start, but he was a human and I was doubtful of your kind. He showed me he wasn't one of them."

"Good. I won't stop you any longer, but know that we are in this too and you won't hide anything from us," she replied.

"Thanks. Anyway, we didn't find anything yet to repair the portal. As Imthor said, they need to search for more before we can do anything," Maxxor concluded.

Chair grunted. He hated being powerless, "If I could, I would show up there immediately."

Theb-Saar had one more question, "Anything about the Messenger of the Cothica?"

The two boys looked at each other, "Hum…"

Kaz replied, "I don't know. We didn't call him with everything going on. If he didn't move, he is still in Antarctica. He is far away from the city and in a very cold climate. A desert of ice."

"Good. They won't be able to force us to our knees," the blue Mipedian sighed in relief.

"I know what is going on there," Cassandra said.

Tom pointed his scanner towards her. Rothar was eating by her side and nodded at his ruler.

"Tell us," Azsil told her.

"Alexandre is still in Antarctica. He has been ordered to remain there. The army doesn't want him to come back to America, but he told me that Canada announced they are ready to help with the crisis if the president called them. He also said that they are searching for a way to help from Antarctica. Alexandre is busy explaining everything he knows about Perim's and the M'arrillians. His father was the one who answered his scanner though. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't know that."

Imthor nodded, "The army is searching for a countermeasure," he sighed, "It's time to end this message. We will enter in contact with Peyton and Sarah next. It seems they are together for now and we cannot pass up this chance."

"Yeah. We are busy this afternoon too," Tom replied with a small smile.

The two boys were relieved that the leaders were fine.

The communication ended and they went to the next one.
