...where Fiona hurried to MacConnachy Square with Rolf and Mabel beside her.
"Good mornin', Mr. Beaton!" she greeted.
"Good mornin' to you too, Miss Fiona." Mr. Beaton greeted back. "What can I do ya for?"
"Would you, by any chance, have a waistcoat that would fit my father?" asked Fiona.
"I believe I do." replied Mr. Beaton. "I'll have Harry run over to the house and see. Won't ya, Harry?"
"I will do no such thing!" his son said rudely, crossing his arms.
"Oh, Harry, are you still sore over Jean marrying Charlie tonight?" asked Mr. Beaton.
Harry groaned in frustration. "That's all I ever hear! Charlie this, Charlie that! Charlie is such a winning lad. Pfah!"
"What is it about Charlie that you hate?" asked Fiona.
"You ought to know, Fiona!" snapped Harry. "He's got everything...school in Edinburgh, Jean...and all I got is nothing but to be stuck in this stupid place forever!"
As Harry stormed away in fury, his father turned to Fiona, saying. "I'll try to get him to bring over that waistcoat later."
"Thank you, Mr. Beaton." said Fiona
As she watched Mr. Beaton run after his son, she noticed Rolf walking away while sniffing the ground.
"Rolf, where are you going?"
At the same time, Tommy and Jeff had just arrived when Rolf came to them.
"Oh, hey, there, boy." Tommy said to the little Scottie dog, whom he picked up. "Where'd you come from?"
Rolf took a sniff and licked Tommy's face.
With a chuckle, Tommy said. "You sure are friendly, aren't...you?"
As he said this, he noticed a lovely sight...Fiona, who slowly walked to Tommy, who asked. "Is...this your dog?"
"Aye, he is." Fiona said, taking back Rolf. "Please forgive him. Rolf's not used to meeting strangers."
"Well, there's nothing strange about me." Tommy said, scratching Rolf's head. "I like dogs."
"And all the dogs like him." added Jeff, who noticed Mabel peeing on his boots, to his annoyance.
"I can see why." giggled Fiona. "So, what brings you two here to Brigadoon?"
"Brigadoon?" repeated Tommy. "That's the name of this town?"
"Uh-huh." Fiona said, nodding her head.
"That's funny." said Tommy. "It isn't on the map. Why's that?"
"For many reasons." answered Fiona.
"Oh, well, uh, look, Miss, uh..."
"Campbell, Fiona Campbell."
"Tommy Albright. And this is my friend, Jeff Douglas."
"Charmed, I'm sure." Jeff said sarcastically.
"Is there a place where we can get something to eat or drink?" asked Tommy.
"Oh, just follow the road to MacConnachy Square." explained Fiona. "You'll find what you want for sale there."
"Well, thank you very much." said Tommy.
"You're more than welcome." Fiona replied, entranced by Tommy's good looks. "Good day."
"Good day." Tommy repeated, feeling entranced himself.
"Good day."
"Good day."
"Let's go, Romeo." Jeff said, dragging his lovestruck friend away from Fiona, who walked into her house with a dreamy look on her face, which Gwen noticed, saying. "So, you finally met your dream dearie, huh?"
"Oh, aye." said Fiona.
"Well, tell us about him." said Jean.
"Oh, he has brownish hair, a bit taller than Papa." explained Fiona. "Rolf seems to like him. Mabel, on the other hand, doesn't seem to like the other one."
"Oh, so there's two of them!" said Gwen.
"Well, where are they, now?" asked Jean.
"They went to the square for some food." said Fiona.
"I wanna go see for myself." said Jean, who was about to pick up a basket full of potatoes, which Fiona snatched while saying. "Oh, no. You're not starting your marriange under a cloud of bad luck."
"But, Fiona..." Jean began, only to be cut off by her sister, who said. "But nothin'! Now, stay where you are, mind what Gwennie says, and don't even think about looking out that window."
Once she was out of the house, Fiona turned to Rolf and Mabel.
"Sisters. What are you gonna do?" she said, heading back to MacConnachy Square...
