Intress dashed as quickly as possible. She didn't want to lose the M'arrillian who had the two humans. She would not let her friend Tom down. She refused to fail to protect him.
Behind her, Wamma tried to keep up, but was much slower. Even with the forced training, it wasn't enough. He ignored any hint of exhaustion. He didn't want to slow down for one second. Sarah was in danger and he wouldn't let her down. He came to Earth to protect her first. The other reasons meant so little to the red Danian. He already made a plan in his mind on how to destroy that M'arrillian for kidnapping his friend. He would break his exoskeleton with his bare hands.
He noticed the chase stopped as the M'arrillian turned around and faced them with a grin on his face.
That pissed Wamma off. He stopped when he was close to Intress.
"Not another move!" Rol'doi warned them. He raised the girl he held in his pincer, "What would happen if I squeezed her too hard?"
The threat was obvious.
"Sarah!" The red bug cried loudly.
Chapter 132: Do Not Take That Step
"He won't hesitate to do it! She really pissed him off!" Tom quickly said when he noticed Wamma had every intention to crush him.
Intress raised her hand in front of him, "Calm down Wamma. You know the situation we are in."
Wamma's hand was on fire as he growled at the horrible M'arrillian, "If you hurt her, it will only be worse."
Sarah tried to show a brave face, but she was pale. It wasn't the kind of danger she was used to. She also hated to be a hostage. Still, fear was stronger than her frustration, "Wamma," she whispered.
"You think threatening me in this situation is a good idea? Are you that stupid of a Danian?" Rol'doi asked with a grin on his face. He knew he had the advantage. Still, it was better if he brought both of them alive. If Sarah was dead, the Danians wouldn't care for Tom safety and would avenge her demise, violently. He had no idea if his tribe could overcome their fury. It was a theory, but he wouldn't take any risks.
The fire disappeared from his hand, "Fine. What do you want?"
"I am going to leave with those two and never come back. This is the last time you are going to see them," the Kha'rall replied.
Wamma was about to take a step forward.
"Not another step, or she will pay for it with her life," he lightly put pressure on the girl.
Sarah painfully grunted. She had trouble breathing.
The Danian sobbed and took a step back, "Stop! Just stop!" His fury turned into worry. He couldn't watch her suffer because of his actions, "Don't hurt her anymore! Please!" It sickened him to beg for mercy, but he would rather feel sick than watch his best friend hurt. He looked down and clenched his fist and his mouth.
"Much better," Rol'doi lessened the pressure.
The girl panted loudly as she got back her breath. She felt a little weak. She bit her lips when something nasty wanted to come out of her. She held back.
"Sarah. You're, okay?" Tom asked.
"Silence!" the M'arrillian ordered.
Sarah nodded at her friend and watched the event unfold.
Intress glared at the creature, "Rol'doi. You have to release them. You won't be able to escape-"
"I don't care for your empty words or empty threats. I am the one in charge. Try anything and it will end badly with them. You will listen to me."
The two creatures cursed themselves. They could only watch and let the evil Kha'rall talk to them.
Codemaster Crellan heard the news that Tom and Sarah were kidnapped, "This is bad. They got two of them."
"We cannot do anything from here," Hotekk grunted as he continued to try and find a way to help them. He couldn't give support.
"And the portal?" Imthor asked.
"It's almost ready. It will open in a few minutes," Hotekk replied.
They heard the door banging, "Open the door right now!" Chaor ordered.
The Codemasters looked at each other. They might have if it was anyone other than Chaor.
Imthor decided to reply, "We have an emergency and we cannot be distracted. The portal will be ready soon. Be ready."
"The M'arrillians are attacking Kazzy! I know they are!" the Underworlder replied.
"Open up right now!" Theb'saar ordered furiously.
The Codemasters realized that two of them were there. Crellan activated the cameras and saw the four leaders present and ready to destroy the door.
"I'll talk to them," Imthor said as he went to the door. He unlocked and opened it. He ignored the intimidating glare of the four rulers.
"What is going on?" Maxxor asked, maintaining his composure.
That made it difficult for the Codemaster to explain. He knew the situation. He coughed once, giving him a few seconds before he answered, "The M'arrillians are attacking the military base where the humans are staying."
"We know that!" Chaor growled loudly.
"We have a situation and there is nothing we can do," Imthor replied. He looked at them and dropped the bomb, "Right now. Tom and Sarah are captured by a M'arrillian who slipped away from the group."
"Tom," Maxxor whispered.
The Underworlder felt a bit relieved, but didn't express it. He felt the tension in the air coming from the two rulers.
The Danian queen asked, "And what are you doing to free them?"
"Right now, Intress and Wamma are giving chase. The battle kept the others too busy. The only reason they even knew this happened was because Bahrakatan told them what was going on."
The ruler of the Overworld asked, "When is the portal ready? We need to be there soon."
"A few minutes, just like I told Imthor," Hotekk grumbled. He turned towards them, "Do not ask me to do this faster. Those calibrations are important. If it isn't properly set, it can transport you underground and you die because your insides are filled with rocks, dirt and maybe a few worms."
Theb-Saar knew there was no reason to stay here, "Get to the portal. Once it's ready, we traverse it and we crush those M'arrillians," he turned around and left without waiting for a reply.
Chaor grunted, but followed him.
Maxxor and Aszil stayed a little longer.
She told them, "You tell us if they are freed," she left.
Maxxor could only pray to the Cothica that they will be there in time to save those two, "Is there anything you can do to help them?"
"No. This entire situation is out of our hands now," Crellan admitted.
The green creature left them to their work.
Rol'doi gazed at the two creatures. He waited for them to try anything. Nothing came, so he began his demands, "I'll tell you what's going to happen now. If you listen to me, they will be left intact… and not mostly," he knew he told them before he wouldn't hesitate to kill Sarah, but he needed them all alive. Simply because they could put each tribe on their knees, instead of a vengeful wrath. Eliminating their guide to the Cothica would be detrimental for his tribe. Them alive on the other hand would lead them victory, "You will both stay here and I will leave to my tribe. By staying here, I mean that you won't take a single step towards me. You will remain where you are or return to the others. If you don't, something bad will happen to them," he twitched his head on the side, "I wonder if you can live with the fact that you made me hurt them by disobeying me," he let out a large grin, "Do you understand?"
"You won't get away with it," Intress growled. She wanted to do something. She tried to find something they could do. Anything, but she had nothing. The two Mipedians were busy in the front line. If only Ario or Gathup was here, they would ambush the M'arrillian while being invisible. It wasn't the case now. There wasn't any miracle.
The Kha'rall laughed, "Not get away with it? That means that those two will be hurt if I don't get away with it you know," he shook the humans.
Wamma grabbed one of his arms, as if he tried to hold back his anger.
Rol'doi was about to turn and leave when he was taken aback when the two humans suddenly struggled.
"Let her go!" Tom ordered the creature, "Just take me and let her go!"
"No! Let him go, you jerk! I'm the one who almost killed you!" Sarah yelled in desperation.
"Sarah!" Tom yelled at her.
The M'arrillian grunted quietly in annoyance. He knew what both were trying to do and didn't want to waste time with this, "Stop it you two! I don't care what you said! I'll take both of you!" The creature shook them until they stopped struggling, too dizzy to do anything. While he did that, he never left his focus on the two creatures. He looked at Intress and Wamma, "Both of you. Not a single step," he slowly began to back away, (I got two of the humans. Tom and Sarah. I'm retreating now.)
(Good. Once you are far away, we will stop the assault and leave,) Neth'uar replied in his mind.
Rol'doi continued to carefully watch the two creatures as he continued to back away. He ignored the two humans who begged him to release one of them, but with less energy than before, "Silence! I will hurt both of you!"
"Stop," the two creatures told the humans. They knew they couldn't escape.
The M'arrillian looked smaller and smaller for the creatures, as he went farther away.
Wamma's legs quietly shook as he felt weak. He did everything to keep himself from chasing after them. He used all of his willpower. He took a deep breath as he locked himself in place.
Intress did her best to do the same. She wouldn't put her friend in danger.
The two creatures were powerless to protect the two humans. They waited and waited until the Kha'rall was out of sight.
They noticed the other M'arrillians suddenly decided to retreat from the base.
Wamma's legs gave up and was on his knees. He punched the ground loudly, "Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! I… Saraaaaaah!" He yelled in agony, "I'm a failure! I failed her. I couldn't protect her!" He continued to curse himself over his failures. He punched the ground a few more times.
The other creatures came towards them with a few soldiers.
Odu-Bathax noticed the other Danian punching the ground.
Wamma stopped. He panted a few times. He raised his head, "What a friend I am?"
The blue Danian came and slapped the back of the head of the other member of his tribe. Despite the slap, he wasn't angry, "Enough Wamma. Tell us what happened now."
Intress knew Wamma wouldn't tell them anything right now, "I'll explain. Rol'doi kidnapped Tom and Sarah. We couldn't stop them."
Arias grunted, "Argh! Maxxor will be furious when he comes here!" He crossed his arms and gazed back. He saw George coming.
Intress took a deep breath. She knew it wouldn't end up well once the man knew what happened to his son.
"Where is Tom?" George asked as he looked around.
That stinged on the two creatures' hearts. The man expected them to succeed. A faith in them that wouldn't come to fruition.
Intress broke the news, "The M'arrillians got him and Sarah. We couldn't stop them."
"If we tried, he would hurt them," Wamma whined as he punched the ground another time, "I couldn't do anything to save Sarah!"
George turned his back, "It…" he couldn't tell them what he thought, "Nevertheless. We can track them. We have an eye on them now."
Agitos gazed at the two, "Would he really hurt them?"
"Yes. He didn't hesitate to hurt Sarah," Wamma replied. He was whacked on the skull by Odu-Bathax.
"Enough self-pitying! We need to make battle plans to save them right now!" The Danian then followed the man.
The other creatures nodded as they followed them.
Intress and Wamma lagged behind a little. Both wished that the result would have been different.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: The Army They Waited For.
Back at the base, a battle plan began to form to save Tom and Sarah, when the creatures of Perim finally came to help.
