Chapter 5: Quarrels & Tears

xxx Back at Devil May Cry xxx

Anne was ironing some clothes, and it was a mix of reds and blacks, obviously from Dante, who was completely oblivious to other colors in the world, at least that is what it seemed . She then noticed she never ever ironed nor washed any of Dante's twin clothes. She would never find his laundry anywhere.

"He must wash them on a coin laundry or something of the sort.", she thought to herself as she picked yet another piece of red fabric to iron.

After the clothes were finally done, she decided to clean Vergil's room, since she didn't have the opportunity to do so yet.

So she climbed the stairs and opened the door to his room only to find that it was exactly the opposite of Dante's room: no empty food boxes, no clothes spread everywhere, no strange white stains on the blankets, a clean and tidy bathroom, lots of books neatly organized on shelves, small statues, a well-organized desk and a huge beautiful bed covered in blue satin fabric, which looked just too inviting for her own tastes.

"Well, seems like there's not a lot to do in here, but I have to since I'm paid for that."

She decided to start on the desk. She took everything from it and cleaned with some nice smelling products. After that, washed his bathroom just to make sure and then started to sweep... and then when she finally noticed what was about to happen she no longer had time to save the small glass statue she accidentally bumped into. Now, with glass everywhere and a frantic Anne trying to clean that mess she had just created as well, she started to think "Oh my God now what am I supposed to do, how am I going to pay for this, it must cost a fortune as everything else in this room. Will he fire me? God help me."

When she was halfway done cleaning that mess someone smoothly entered the room, and to her surprise it was not the red clad brother, it was Vergil instead. She had not been introduced to him yet, which made the situation even weirder.

"Ah...umn, nice to meet you Sir, I'm Anne the new maid, and...", She was cut off abruptly by Vergil.

"What are you doing in here, I said I don't want anyone in my room, no cleaning is required, so you can leave"

"Sir, just a second...I anh ...I accidentally bumped into a small glass statue and it hit the floor and broke, I, I...I'm going to pay for it, I am really sorry.", she said not really knowing where to look at, Anne was completely flustered. She was probably redder than a tomato.

"Little statue, you say?", he retorted in a cold piercing tone.

"It definitely costs more than you earn in an entire year. Now, LEAVE.", his voice was so piercing and concise that she felt her spine shiver.

"I'm sorry Sir, please forgive me, I'll pay for it.", Anne said drying her tears. She did not expect to hear such stern words. She did get he was angry, but what was there to be done?

"JUST GO."

"What's that fuss all about?, asked Trish, hearing muffled voices coming from upstairs.

"Maybe Verge is trying to bang her.", said Dante, not even paying attention to what the blonde was saying, he was too engrossed in his magazines.

They heard a door slamming and Anne coming with her eyes puffy from crying.

"Hey, what's wrong Anne?", questioned Patty, full of concern in her voice.

"I accidentally dropped and broke a small glass statue in Mister Vergil's room, and he saw it, and got really angry, I said I'm going to pay for it, but he was really so upset about it...I'm sorry, Mister Dante please take the money from my pay cheques and give it for him please."

"Nah...just chill, the dude is really materialistic, he'll forget eventually."

"But please give him the money, it is the least I can do to repair the damage I've done."

Dante just shrugged and moved to where Anne was standing. "Now, why so tense? I can help you with that…", he said mischievously, this time around trying to lighten the mood.

As if touched by flames, Anne finally said, "May I take a shower and go to sleep Sir?"

"No need to call me Sir, and go take a shower and rest...If you want to take a bath on my room...", he said while winking at her.

"Thank you Sir, I mean Dante."

Those were her last words Anne said before Trish burst out laughing.

"Oh Dante, you will scare the poor thing for life…"

Dante wanted to talk to Vergil about what happened with the girl earlier on the day, so he went to his brother's room knocked on the door and without further ado entered the bedroom, noticing his brother was reading some sort of thick book.

"Hey my sexually frustrated brother, what's up?"

Vergil just glared, his ice cold eyes glaring directly at his brother's.

If only looks could kill…

"I heard you yelling at the maid girl today, over some glassy thing, well, she asked me to take from her payment to pay off for the statue, so she apologized so much, she got really worked up over that thing, really got stressed out, I mean both of you did apparently."

"I don't want anyone in my room, that's final, I don't want her money either.", Vergil stated without taking his icy blue eyes off of his read.

"Just don't yell because of something like this, you scared the hell outta her."

"You don't give me orders, surely you want to relieve her stress, so get lost Dante."

That night Vergil went to the kitchen and found the maid washing some dishes, she didn't even notice his arrival until he cleared his throat, as if announcing his presence.

"I'd like to apologize for my misbehavior this afternoon.", he hated apologizing, it was worse than hell to do so.

"It's ok, I am really sorry for the incident, I'll pay everything back Sir.", she said unable to take her eyes off of the dishes. She sure as hell was not ready to look him in the eye. His icy blue eyes were like lasers, much different from Dante's soft and entertaining ones.

"No need to do so."

"I will, even if it takes the whole year."

"Goodnight." Was the only thing Vergil uttered before going back to his room to get some rest, and get over the fact that not only did he apologize but for the very first time in his whole life felt drawn to someone from the opposite sex.
