I Do Not Own Twilight
The door behind the thrones of the three kings, the Volturi, rulers of the vampire world swung open and the hard clacking of heels could be heard. The three kings scented the air and smelled the familiar vanilla and almonds of Aro's wife Sulpicia. His eyes brightened and a loving smile appeared on his face as he turned away from the visiting nomadic vampire in front of him. "Sulpicia, what a pleasant surprise. What can I do for you, amore mio?" He lifted his hand to hers and beckoned her forward.
Smiling, Sulpicia took his hand and leaned to sit on the arm of his throne sliding backwards into his lap. "I am not sure, my king. I felt the strangest pull to come to the throne room so I thought I would come and find you."
Aro nuzzled into Sulpicia's neck causing her to turn her face away from him giggling. As she did, she saw the nomad in front of her. As the two of them made eye contact several things happened at once. Marcus gasped and stood up which caused Caius to leap to his feet knocking his throne behind him and flitting to his side. The nomad fell to his knees before the vampiress. Sulpicia gasped and began to pull away from Aro who gripped tightly to her waist holding her firmly on his lap.
"Aro," Marcus gasped this one word laced in sadness.
"I see," Aro released his grip on Sulpicia's waist then adjusted to grip her hand in order to steady her as she stood up. Sulpicia took tentative steps toward the nomad and reached her arm delicately toward this stranger. "Sulpicia," Aro spoke firmly to his wife causing Caius and Marcus to sprint to his sides and put restraining hands on his shoulders. She turned back to face Aro her face showing the tension she felt at betraying one of the mighty rulers. "I'm fine brothers," he said as he looked briefly at his co-rulers. "I see that my wife has finally met her mate. I know the laws I helped to draft regarding mates. As we have always known, we were merely companions for the last three-thousand years. I have always set aside a nest-egg if you will for when you found your mate. The information for it is in the red envelope with my seal in the top right drawer of your vanity. I will send some of the lower guards to assist your move." Aro sniffed once then sat back down on his throne his face a perfect mask of indifference.
Sulpicia froze taking in everything that Aro just said. The indecision on her face was clear would she reject her mate for her companion through the millenniums? Then she turned and flung herself at the nomad. He gripped her tightly to his chest and spun her around in circles.
Aro cleared his throat. "Forgive the interruption of this beautiful moment but I believe we have a full schedule of vampires claims to listen to today. Please, take this somewhere else." Motioning to the guard at the back of the room protecting the doors, "Demetri call in the next claim."
Marcus leaned into Aro, reached down, and grasped the hand that was lounging on the throne. He told him through his thoughts of the strong bond the two had and wondered if perhaps Aro should take the rest of the day off.
"Nonsense," Aro sniffed.
Marcus sighed and returned to his seat once again taking on the bored demeanor he was famous for. While Caius stomped back to his throne and righted it once again slamming himself into it with one leg draped over the arm of the chair.
The three brothers conducted the rest of the days business with the same monotony as any other day as if nothing of significance had happened at all. Marcus still looked bored, Caius still scowled angrily, and Aro moved back and forth from regal to maniacally happy the way the vampire world expected him to.
