8:00 PM
That evening, Izzy was getting ready for the dinner date with Simon when her mom walked in.
"Izzy, Are you about ready?"
"Almost."
"I forgot to ask you earlier when I got home, how was school?"
"It was ok, Ms. Curtis asked me to stay after class."
"Why? Did you get in trouble?"
"No, she just asked me why I was staring out the window and she also wanted to know if I had any questions about our Halloween activity."
"Ok, what's the activity about?"
"She wants us to create our own Halloween story and she said we could do it anyway we wanted to. So, mine is going to be like a documentary."
"Cool, what's it going to be about?"
As Izzy was about to answer, her dad appeared in the doorway.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt. But, Simon's here and we better go ahead and get going. I don't want to lose our table at Burtons Grill."
"Ok, Hon. Be right down. Why don't you tell us more about it at dinner"
"Ok." Izzy said as they started to go downstairs where Simon and Tom were waiting.
"You guys ready?" Tom asked them.
"Absolutely." Izzy said as they went toward their van which held up to 9 passengers. As Izzy started to turn toward the van, she turned and looked across the street to see a shadowy figure watching her.
"Hey, you ok?" Simon asked as he walked over toward her.
"Yeah, it's just that I thought I saw something across the street." She said as he looked across the street and saw nothing there.
"I don't see anything. Come on, let's go get something to eat. Maybe that'll take your mind off of what you saw."
"You're right. Let's go ahead and get going." She said as they walked toward the van and climbed in. Soon, everyone was buckled in and they drove away. In the shadow across the street form Izzy's house was a shadowy figure watching them as they drove off.
At Burtons Grill, everyone was having a good time. Including Izzy, who was able to get the figure off her mind.
"So, how's dinner? Is it ok?" Tom asked them.
"Dad, dinner is great Thanks for choosing the best place to have dinner."
"Yes, thank you, Mr. Hardy." Simon said
"You're both quite welcome. So, Izzy, your mom was telling me about an assignment you're doing for Halloween in Ms. Curtis' class."
"Yeah, basically, she wants us create a Halloween story anyway we want. Mine is going to be sort of like a documentary."
"Really, what's it going to be about." He asked.
"Well, my topic is going to be about Michael Myers."
"Who's Michael Myers?" Anna asked
"I'll be happy to tell you Mr & Mrs. Hardy." Simon said. "Michael Myers is a serial killer who killed his sister when was 6 years old on Halloween in 1963. Then, on Halloween of 1978, came after Laurie Strode and two kids, Lindsey Wallace & Tommy Doyle."
"Wait, as in Alex's father, Tommy Doyle?" Izzy asked surprised
"Yeah, that Tommy Doyle. So, anyway, Michael Myers was shot by his psychiatrist, Dr. Samuel Loomis, 6 times and was then taken into custody that night and spent the last 40 years at Smith's Grove Sanitarium where he escaped and came after Laurie again along with her family. They say that Laurie and her family burned down her house to make sure Michael would never kill anyone again. They also say that he's the one who killed the firemen and that he's returned to Haddonfield and to The Myers House to find Laurie or probably find a new victim to after. Oh, I also forgot to mention that he's usually called 'The Boogeyman' "
They shook as they heard the story of the serial killer of Haddonfield. Some of the customers even turned their heads to hear the story.
"Wow, Izzy, do you really want to do a Halloween story/documentary on him?" Anna asked her still shook up from the story.
"Yeah, I want to learn more about him and maybe even learn how to even stop him before he kills again."
"Maybe we should discuss this more when we get home." Tom said as he tried to flag down a waiter to get the check. Soon, they soon dropped Simon off at his house and started driving home
"So, what do y'all think of Simon?" Izzy asked.
"Well, I'm going to be honest with you and you might think I'm crazy. But, I love how he knows a lot of the history of Haddonfield and even, 'The Boogeyman' as he said Michael was called. I hope I don't have nightmare about him tonight" Anna said.
"I hope so too. Speaking of Michael, are you really sure you want to do your assignment on him."
"Absolutely, I'll be kind of like Nancy Drew or even The Hardy Boys for that matter."
"Well, ok. But, you've got to promise us something while you're doing this assignment." Tom said.
"Ok, what is it?"
"Promise that you'll have your phone on you at all times and to be careful if you decide to go anywhere that's dangerous or something like that."
"Ok, y'all, I promise."
"We just want to make sure nothing bad happens to you." Anna said.
"I know. Don't worry, I'll make sure to be careful." Izzy said as they pulled up in the driveway and started to get out and head back inside. As Izzy looked across the street where she saw the figure, she saw that there was nothing there. She soon turned away and walked inside and closed the front door.
