I Do Not Own Twilight
Aro arrived in Alaska and was pleased to find the pull in his chest was pulling him away from the Denali's house. He would spend the day with the coven so as not to be rude and then he would head to Forks. He walked up to the Denali's lodge to see Eleazar step out onto the porch, "Eleazar, my friend." He opened his arms to hug the man's shoulders making sure not to touch his skin. Aro didn't like violating his friend's thoughts if he could help it.
Eleazar smiled warily, "Aro, it isn't like you to leave Volterra. What is this about my friend?"
Aro nodded, "You are correct there is something amiss. I trust you can keep this to yourself." Eleazar nodded in agreement. "Sulpicia met her mate several months ago. It was quite a shock after nearly three thousand years together."
"I imagine it was my friend," Eleazar patted Aro's shoulders.
Sighing, "I have felt a pull which, from Italy, felt like it was in this general direction. Naturally, I looked to see all the unmated female vampires in the area to start my search for a mate."
Eleazar nodded smiling, "Which led you to our coven full of unmated females who you haven't had much if any contact with."
"Correct. Unfortunately, the pull is leading me elsewhere so I'm afraid I am not a match for anyone in your coven. Although after what happened with their dear mother, I suppose they would rather I wasn't pulled in this direction."
Eleazar nodded, "That was nasty business but they are all in agreement that the law must be upheld."
Aro chuckled lightly, "Yes, but I'm the one who upholds it and while vampires will respect me for it, they will not love me for it. I understand perfectly. I would like to spend the day here to get reacquainted with you and your lovely wife Carmen if it would not be too much of a burden."
"Nonsense, old friend. We are honored to host you Aro." He motioned for Aro to follow him, "Right this way. Come inside out of the snow."
Aro spent a lovely day chatting with the Denali Coven. He was able to bury the hatchet with them somewhat and they invited him to attend a club with them that evening. Aro wanted to decline but he remembered he was supposed to have something to tell Isabella. He thought if he went dancing with them, he could tell Isabella he went out and, 'got jiggy with it,' which he knew would cause her to laugh in the most delicious way. He thought he could live on her laughter alone.
He took out the outfit Heidi had chosen for him. It was a tightly cut black Armani suit with a tight red satin dress shirt. There was not a necktie which Aro frowned at. She did pack him bright red socks and black dress shoes. He tied his hair back with a ruby clip and put on the red and black fedora Heidi had sent. He looked in the mirror and frowned. He decided if he was going to dress this way Isabella should at least get to see it.
He stood in front of the full-length mirror and took a selfie which he texted to Bella.
He headed downstairs and waited for the sisters. Demetri and Felix were dressed similarly to Aro which he found surprisingly comforting. Both men were thrilled to be anywhere near the succubuses. Aro rolled his eyes at their thoughts for the coming evening.
The girls came down and all three looked beautiful but Aro noticed he just wasn't interested in any of them. Tanya came and took his arm and he escorted her to the awaiting car.
Once they were at the club the girls pulled the three men to the dance floor. Aro was thankful Bella had shown him so many music videos. He was able to figure out how to dance the way he was supposed to. He was shocked when he was dancing and a woman backed into him to dance against him. He danced with her a few moments before dancing away. Then Tanya struck. She pulled Aro close and wrapped her arms around his shoulders pulling him tightly against her. She was staring him in the eyes and was clearly letting him know she was interested in him. Aro just stepped back and held his hands up in defeat, "I'm sorry, my dear, this is very new for me."
Tanya batted her eyelashes at Aro, "Don't worry I'm sure we can both teach each other some new tricks." She winked and if Aro could have blushed he would have been.
"No Tanya, I came here to follow a pull and it isn't in Denali. I will be leaving now. When you see Demetri and Felix tell them to enjoy the night off and I will let them know when to meet me at the jet. I have someplace I need to be."
Tanya frowned but she knew if a vampire felt a pull, it should be followed.
Meanwhile, Edward had not taken Bella to Seattle. The weather was too nice so they went to a meadow Edward knew about. He showed her everything he could do. They gave each other their first kiss. When Edward took Bella home, he decided to stay the night in her room. The next morning, he introduced her to his family where it was decided they would play baseball.
It was during the baseball game three nomads decided to stop by unexpectedly. The tracker, James, saw Bella and decided to hunt her down. So instead of getting ready to talk to Aro and tell him all about her date she is sitting with Alice and Jasper in a hotel room.
Aro was pacing the Denali's house. He had logged on and was prepared to tell Bella just how close he was and ask her to meet him for dinner. She had not logged on. She was two hours late. She had only been late one other time which was when she was almost smashed by a van. He couldn't imagine what had happened to her. To make matters worse he could feel the pull moving directions and he was certain it was nowhere near Washington or Oregon anymore.
He picked up his phone to see if he had missed her call but he hadn't. He called her again and left a message. Her inbox was full. He had sent her fifteen text messages which hadn't been answered. He was miserable.
Finally, Demetri stopped his pacing by grabbing his hand. Aro read his thoughts which said it was time to go home. If Aro wanted Demetri assured him he would track Bella's whereabouts for him but Aro himself should go home.
Aro nodded and gathered his things. He said his farewells to the Denali Coven and headed to the airport with Demetri and Felix.
Aro was morose. He decided one of two things happened either Bella was so in love with Edward she wasn't interested in him as a friend anymore or Edward had murdered her. He decided if it was the later, he would burn down the town and slaughter everyone left standing. He would just need to cut the cell coverage in the area and he would be able to slaughter everyone and burn the evidence he could handle this.
His ideas for revenge were getting more violent the longer he went from hearing from her. Monday, he pouted and thought of the mayhem he could cause. Tuesday, he growled at anyone who spoke in his direction. Wednesday, he killed every vampire he came before his court until Caius ordered the courts closed for the day. Thankfully Caius had agreed they were all guilty. Thursday, he didn't even leave his rooms. Friday Marcus drug him to come and feed. He was depressed. He felt like he couldn't function without Bella. On Saturday, he got a text apologizing and asking if they could chat online.
Aro was livid when he was booting up his computer. Who was she to ignore him for a week then want to talk? Didn't she realize how important she was to him? He was going to give her a piece of his mind when her face appeared on the screen.
He groaned and if he could have cried, he would have, "Cara mia, what happened?" He could see the bruises on her face and the bandages wrapped around her head.
She sniffed and tears started falling down her cheeks she gasped out, "I'm sorry! I didn't make it on Sunday. I got held up. I fell down some stairs and went through a window. I was asleep until yesterday and I had to wait until someone could bring me my phone."
"Cara mia, what are your injuries?"
"I have a broken leg, broken ribs, skull fracture, and I had several blood transfusions. I'm okay now though." She tried to smile but winced and started to cry, "Please don't be mad at me. You're the longest friend I've ever had."
"Isabella, I was never mad at you. I was very worried."
"How did the date go?"
"I got jiggy with it at a club," he smirked waiting to hear her sweet laughter that didn't come. He glanced up to see her eyes narrowed and her lips pressing together in a tight line.
She wrinkled her nose and wouldn't look directly at the screen, "I thought you thought that kind of dancing was inappropriate."
He smiled, pleased she didn't like the idea of him dancing with other girls, "I do find it inappropriate and I had to practically push women away from me when I was dancing, Cara mia."
She smiled and glanced at Aro, "Did you enjoy the girl you went with?"
Aro scoffed, "Era bionda e mi piacciono le brune."
This did earn Aro his laugh, "You prefer brunettes, huh?"
Just then a nurse entered the room and began to fuss around Bella. She took more pain and sleeping medicine. Aro smiled at her and told her he would call her cell phone in the morning and chat with her then.
"Dormi bene principessa mia."
"You sleep well too my Aro," she mumbled as she began falling back into a drug induced sleep
He turned off his computer and sat unmoving. She had accidentally called him "my Aro." Aro was thrilled. He was ecstatic. He was going to break her heart and she didn't deserve that. He slammed his hands down on the desk splitting it in half. What could he do? He had no idea but it wasn't fair to her. He knew he had to stop this relationship because he couldn't have her as a companion. He had a mate out there and she was nowhere near where Bella was. He felt the pull down in the Southwestern part of the United States but poor Bella was in a hospital in Forks. He told himself he would have to end this friendship but he knew he never would. He would rather be friends with Bella then be without her.
