I Do Not Own Twilight

Bella went cliff diving with Jacob and the pack as planned. She watched as all the guys dove into the water. While she was there with her friends, she realized she could never have had this much fun if she was with Edward. He would have decided this was too dangerous. He would have decided the pack was too dangerous. She was overwhelmed by the gratefulness she felt towards him for leaving. Yes, she was angry about what he said and his actions but she was truly happy he was not in her life anymore. She was the last one to jump. She stepped to the edge, took a deep breath, and said aloud with tears of joy in running down her cheeks "thanks Edward." Then she jumped.

As soon as she landed in the water Jacob was at her side helping her reach the surface. Once she reached the top she started squealing, "I did it, Jacob! I jumped!" He hugged her back. There was a commotion in the water as several of the wolves took off. Jacob scooped Bella up and swam her quickly to the shore. Once on land her picked her up and ran her to his house.

"Jacob, what's going on?"

"Vampire," was all Jacob said.

Bella sat at the kitchen table nervously shaking her leg waiting for something to happen. Pretty soon Sam and Paul came into the house.

Sam grinned and patted Bella's back, "There is a red headed female that keeps hanging around Forks. She was in the water and tried to get to you Bella. Jared caught her."

"She's not a problem anymore. Love the smell of vampire ash in the morning," Paul joked.

Bella blanched and started trembling.

Jacob kneeled down in front of her and grabbed her shoulders, "What's the matter Bells?"

"Victoria! She was after me. The Cullen's killed her mate. I don't know why she wanted me."

Paul laughed, "Well, Bella, she can't bother you anymore. We got her. You're safe as long as you quit hanging around leeches."

Bella nodded, "I think I'd like to go home now Jake."

Jacob took her by the hand and led her to her car. He drove her home. He looked at her trembling frame and pulled her close to his warmth. "Bella, after this Italy trip do you think something could happen here?"

Bella looked at Jacob, "I am over Edward but I don't think so Jake." She frowned and looked up at her friend. She didn't want to hurt him.

He nodded and pursed, "It's this Aro guy, isn't it?"

"Yes, I think if I admitted it to myself, it has always been Aro. He just seemed so much more than me."

"That's not true ya know. No one could be anywhere close to good enough for you Bells."

She grinned, "Thanks Jake."

They pulled up to the house with a quiet understanding. Bella started to open the door when Jacob suddenly pulled her close, "Wait! Vampire!"

Bella looked all around afraid of what she might see. "That's Carlisle's Mercedes! He won't hurt me, Jacob."

He growled and scowled, "If they're back I can't protect you here. The treaty!" Jacob pleaded with her to stay.

"They won't hurt me Jake," Bella said as she stepped out of the car.

Bella opened the front door and was tackled in a huge hug by Alice. Alice thought Bella had committed suicide by jumping to her death. She was shocked to learn not only had Bella moved on from the abandonment by the Cullen's, she had made friends with a pack of werewolves, and she was seeing someone.

"Who are you dating Bella?" Alice asked miffed her sister wasn't still pining over Edward.

Bella shrugged, "It isn't like I'm dating anymore. I am talking to someone and I'm going to visit him in Italy."

Alice folded her arms and shot a disgusted look to Bella, "What does Charlie say about this?"

"Charlie was fine with-it Alice. He has spoken with him and was okay with the trip." Bella was done talking about Aro and shifted uncomfortably.

Alice wrinkled her forehead and put her hands to her temples, "I just can't see you much anymore. Do you need to get dinner for Charlie?"

Bella frowned sadly, "No, Charlie is helping Sue Clearwater plan her husband's funeral. He passed away so he has been helping out."

"What is that smell!" Alice stiffened and scrunched up her nose.

Jacob stalked into the room, "That would be me," he hissed and turned to Bella, "I just needed to check on ya."

Bella smiled sadly annoyed Alice had said something mean about Jacob.

The phone rang and Jacob loped off to answer it. Bella stayed next to Alice who went into a vision. "Oh no what is he thinking!"

"Alice?"

"It's Edward! He thinks you're dead we have to go to Italy!" Alice jumped up and began throwing things into Bella's bag.

Bella stood in place confused, "Alice, why would Edward going to Italy matter?"

"He is going to the Volturi. He is going to ask them to kill him. He doesn't want to live in a world you don't exist."

"Alice, he broke up with me. That makes no sense." She folded her arms across her chest trying to understand the situation she found herself in.

"He left because he loves you too much to condemn your soul. He wanted you to stay human. To have a husband and kids. He gave you up."

Bella rolled her eyes, "Fine I'll go with you Alice but you need to understand I don't want Edward anymore."

Alice frowned and nodded, "We'll see," she let out a merry giggle as if what Bella said held no merit.

They got to the airport and Bella was able to call Charlie and let him know she would be in Seattle for the weekend while he was doing funeral stuff. She texted Aro to say there was an emergency and she would call him later.
