Searching for Ruby, pt. 2
The next day at the police station, Chris had come in. He went straight to his desk. It was not easy for him to be working as a police officer on one side of the law and also helping out his best friend who was a convicted murderer and was somewhere out there in Grant City. Chris was aware that Jack didn't deserve the conviction he was given, but he was also aware that parts of the Grant City Police Department were corrupt.
But for all of the corruption that goes on, he still tries to be an honest cop in a corrupt city.
"Hey, Jones." Chris looked up and saw Inness standing there. His captain called for his attention.
"What's going on, Captain?" Chris said as approached Inness.
"Hennessey wants to have a word with you," Inness said.
"Why can't you talk to me about it? You're my captain, right?" Chris said.
"Hennessey didn't tell me anything, but he wants to talk to you now," Inness said.
Much to his confusion, Chris saw Hennessey in his office talking on the phone like usual, and also took a few pills, more than the recommended dosage of taking one pill. From a distance, his own partner, Michelle Powell was seen watching him as he headed for Hennessey's office with that same look of suspicion as before. The previous night she had followed him as he talked on a payphone to someone, but she had a good feeling on who that person was.
Chris knocked on the glass window of the door to Hennessey's office. Hennessey looked up and signaled him to wait as he was still on the phone.
"…So you're sure about this? Exner has vanished? Well I don't know what to tell you, maybe we'll have to look for her," Hennessey said. "Yeah, yeah, I know what to do when we find her or maybe I'll have some of my unit look for her. Just remember that deal we all had. Thanks, Mr. Mayor."
Hennessey hung up the phone and signaled to Chris to come on in.
"You wanted to see me, sir?" Chris said.
"Yes," Hennessey said with a touch of coldness in his voice. "Sit down."
Chris went and sat in front of Hennessey at his desk. "What's this about?"
"Jones, when you're an officer of the law, what is your duty?" Hennessey said.
Chris said, "To enforce laws, to provide services, to prevent crimes, and to preserve the peace."
"Exactly, but what is your take on assisting criminals?" Hennessey said.
"It's against regulation," Chris said.
"Right, because what is this that I hear that you have been helping out Jack Slate?" Hennessey said.
"Excuse me?" Chris said.
"Some of us have reason to believe that you have been aiding and abetting an escaped convicted murderer," Hennessey said. "Jack Slate is a wanted felon that's still out there and at large. I've been hearing that you have been helping him out."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Chris said.
"I'm not stupid, Jones," Hennessey said. "Shit, I know that you and Slate were joined at the hip, but I guess with your family and his family that it's hard to stay on one side of the law. Your old man was busted for selling narcotics. Frank Slate, God rest his soul, had to turn over his badge because he got a little too violent while he was on the force. Jack Slate, I know that he had his method of enforcing the law, but he murdered Grant City's beloved philanthropist in cold blood. And you, I guess the apples don't far from the trees because now I hear that you have been helping out Slate."
"What are you talking about?" Chris said.
"Stop fucking around here, I have heard that you have been helping him out," Hennessey said. "Your partner came to me and suspected that you have been calling and helping him. She even told me about how you went to Jack's ex-girlfriend and that she was hiding him out from us."
Michelle told him that? That fucking bitch. Chris thought. "Hennessey, I don't know anything about that last part."
"Oh, really?" Hennessey said. "Because I know that Hildy Razwell was someone who worked for Jack's father at the time of his death, as well as had a close relationship with the Slates, especially Jack."
How the hell does he know her name? Chris thought. "Hennessey, sir, with all due respect, I have not seen or talked to Slate lately, not since he had been imprisoned."
"Cut the bullshit, Jones, because I know how close you were with Jack Slate. Maybe I don't have evidence, but there has been some speculation. Ever since Jack Slate has escaped Iron Point, he is still at large and extremely dangerous."
"Sir, you can't base anything on speculation, don't you need evidence?" Chris said. What Hennessey was saying threw Chris off. It wasn't just that he was friends with Jack, but with Jack having been arrested on the spot after being framed, there was something off about all of this.
"Don't you get fucking smart with me!" Hennessey said with a little anger in his voice.
"Or what? You're going to suspend me or fire me?" Chris said. "Even if I was helping out Slate, you have no evidence on me, sir. Isn't that your duty as a cop?"
"Do you know who you're talking to?" Hennessey said.
"Yeah, yes, I do," Chris said. "With all due respect, sir, was there anything that night when you arrested Slate? What about his conviction?"
"Hey, hey, don't give any fucking shit!" Hennessey said. "I'm your superior officer, don't forget that!"
"After everything I've done for you, now you accuse me of helping out a criminal? I know Jack didn't kill that guy. Even if it was in self-defense, would he have still been convicted? Fuck this, I don't need this shit."
Chris grabbed his badge, slammed it right to Hennessey's desk and then stormed out of Hennessey's office, enraged at the accusation he had been given, especially with no evidence. Many of his colleagues and superiors, such as Inness and Michelle, looked on in confusion and worry. While Hennessey may have spilled the beans about Michelle coming to him about Chris working with Jack, she just stood there with a look of guilt on her face, rather than a smirk. It was like she wondered if she did the right thing or what.
Regardless, Chris cleaned out his desk and just took off without a word. He quickly walked out of there with a glare on his face, not bothering to look at anybody and quickly slammed open the front door to the station. It was no secret that he was upset at all of this that he chose to quit rather than get fired.
If there was one thing that caught Chris off-guard, it was that Hennessey got defensive when the two spoke. Chris had always known that Hennessey had it in for Jack before his arrest. Knowing who Jack's father was, he had always known that Hennessey didn't like Frank. Although Hennessey wasn't wrong about Chris helping out his friend, Chris knew something didn't add up. When the arrest was made to Jack, some of Chris's fellow officers believed that Hennessey didn't question him and the sentencing was so quick that a lot of this didn't add up.
Hours later when night hit, Jack sat in his hideout planning out finding Ruby. He had enlisted the help of Wireboy to find a way to track Ruby, because he needed to find her as soon as possible. The previous night, Eve took off with Palmer to find more information that they needed. But with Wireboy assisting Jack in this, it had been said that Wireboy would give Jack a call if he finds where Ruby might be.
There were many questions regarding this. Why did Jack care about Ruby? A few nights prior after they had sex, she left him all alone. No one knew why that happened. Then came Hildy's abduction and she was almost set to be a part of a sex slavery trade. But something was a bit off when Hildy had told him that Ruby let her go. What was the reason for this?
Jack had received a call from Eve. Because Wireboy suggested that they go check out the Blue Fly Club for any information regarding Ruby, as well as Hector Cruz working with Fahook in this whole thing, this was a good idea to get more answers, especially after Hildy was kidnapped to be a part of the white slavery trade. Eve suggested that Jack go and meet her at her place, which was at that abandoned fairground.
Before Jack took off, he had told Shadow that he was going at this without his trusted canine companion. Jack left him some more food and a bowl of water in case he got hungry and thirsty.
It took some time, but Jack had arrived to the abandoned fairground. With Jack's cell phone having text-messaging capabilities, Jack had received a message on the phone from Eve telling him to come on in. Jack walked right in. It was amazing to him that Eve would hide out in a place like this. Unsure of her living situation, he looked around and all he could see what appeared to be cardboard cutouts of characters used for some of these attractions.
I was here the other night. I know I had seen where Eve stayed, or at least was hiding in. I wondered how she could live like this. I would only hope that she would have some generators to keep the power going for heating, air, and electricity. For her to have a fancy car and fancy clothes that she had worn, she must be raking in big bucks for all of the hits she'd be making. I wonder what her price was.
Jack went up the stairs. There was a door that said "KEEP OUT," which meant that was likely where Eve stayed. If Eve told him to come on in, he went ahead and did that. It amazed him that for a place like this, no homeless people were seen squatting in this place. It's possible that the upstairs was off-limits as that was where Eve lived.
He opened the door. The first thing he heard was water running. Perhaps when the fairground was still running, the bathroom had a shower so that any maintenance workers could clean up after a hard day's work. But he looked at the wall. There were pictures of people who red X's on them, likely past targets of Eve's, but then came some pictures that appeared to be more personal. Some of them were of Eve and a young Chinese man, who appeared to be her brother because of the resemblance to one another. Another one that stood out was Eve, when she had black hair before dying it red, looking happy with a Caucasian man. Jack wondered if that was her late husband.
"Hello, Jack." The sound of a female voice with an Asian twang to it mentioning Jack's name grabbed his attention and he jumped at the sight of what was right in front of him. There stood Eve in a black bra and a black thong, shamelessly, like it was no big deal.
"Oh…hi, Eve," Jack said. Minor pauses occurred in that delivery, enough that he was at a loss for words seeing Eve in a state of undress as he looked at her up and down. What caught Jack's attention was that Eve had her hair braided on the front part of her hair with some lines hanging and the back part of her hair in a ponytail. Jack turned away at the sight of Eve in her underwear.
"Oh, don't be shy," Eve said. "Besides, you're not the first man to see me like this."
If Eve was not embarrassed at baring her body like this, all Jack could do was remain calm in this situation. It was far from the first time he had seen a woman in this kind of state. While Jack looked at her body, he noticed a few red marks around her chest area. Those were likely the bruises from the shots she had taken from one of Fahook's twin bodyguards. She couldn't have been luckier that not only did she have a ballistics vest, but also fell on an awning before hitting the ground. Jack looked on while she went through her dresser to find some clothes to wear.
"So what's going on with you and Palmer?" Jack said.
"Not a lot," Eve said while she looked through her dresser. "It's nothing like that. He has a bone to pick with Dutch Sugarman, as do I. So we're working together to take him down."
"Kind of like how we are working together," Jack said.
"In some ways, but you, you're something different," Eve said as she put on some black stockings with red linings. "Palmer has a personal grudge against Dutch. Because Dutch ordered my brother's murder, I have every reason to kill him. Besides, when I met with those two, I feel that he doesn't really like my people too much."
"What do you mean?" Jack said.
"The things he said, especially to Palmer about his affair with that Pearl girl from Black Orchid," Eve said. "Palmer had told me that they are rather close, and that Dutch had been onto him about other stuff. But with me, I still have to find out why Dutch had my brother killed, especially if he was the one who hired Patch."
Eve then picked a miniskirt for her to wear and put it on. The thong's lining was visible above the waistband of her skirt.
"That is one person who is still on my list," Jack said.
"Well, we'll see who gets to him first," Eve said.
"We'll see," Jack said. "Look, Eve, I appreciate all the help you have given me, as well as saved me those times when you did. I hope there's a way for me to repay you."
"Right now, let's focus on what needs to be done," Eve said and put on a small top that bared her midriff and showed some cleavage. It was also tight that it was form-fitting. "I didn't have to help you, but I wanted to. As for repaying me, we'll talk about that soon."
"Okay, one more thing, what's with your clothes?" Jack said as he noticed that Eve was dressed in a rather skimpy outfit.
"You said we have to talk to Hector Cruz, didn't you?" Eve said. "I have my ways of trapping men. Come on, let's get going."
She then put on some red boots to go with her outfit. Jack wondered if this outfit she had on was to blend in with the club patrons, but at the same time, he wondered what she meant about "trapping men."
"I just have one more question, that poster from last night," Eve said. "Was Hildy a stripper?"
Jack sighed. "Yes, she was, but she quit. We don't have time to talk about that right now. Let's go."
Eve picked up her HK pistol and put a suppressor on the barrel's end and pulled up the back of her top and put her gun on the back of her bra's band. She then put on a long red coat and they were taking off.
After some time, they finally got to downtown. The nightlife was booming at that moment. It was a Friday night. The doors had opened. The people in line had already made their way inside. While Jack and Eve sat in the car, as they looked on at the bouncers and any people going into the club.
"Do you have a plan on how this will work?" Jack said.
"I have met those bouncers before," Eve said. "I have my ways."
"You better be right," Jack said. "Are you sure you only need one gun? What if Cruz sends his guys after us?"
"He's not going to send his guys after us in a crowded club," Eve said. "Besides, if Cruz is involved in the porn business, there is one thing everyone should know – never underestimate the power of pussy."
Interesting hearing that coming from Eve. Jack thought. "You sound like you have experience with getting men doing what you want."
"You don't know the half of it, sweetie," Eve said. The fact that Eve had killed a target by posing as a prostitute that one time was evident that she knew that men had one thing on their minds when it came to women.
"Okay, here's what I'll do," Eve said. "I go up to the door, use my ways to get in. I will find an emergency exit to let you in and then we'll go from there."
Jack nodded in response. "I hope you know what you're doing."
The two got out of the car. Eve opened up her coat, showing off her rather revealing outfit.
I hope she doesn't drop her gun while in there. Jack thought and went to the side of the club. This is starting to ring bells. This reminds me of the night I went after Blatz.
Eve walked a certain way up to the bouncers. The guys at the door turned to look at Eve. Jack peered from a corner to watch things unfold before his very eyes.
"Hey, boys," Eve said in a rather sensual tone.
"Oh, hey," one bouncer said. "Ling, is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me," Eve said. It appeared that Ling was an alias of hers. "It's been a while since I've been here. How's it going?"
Eve stood in a sexy pose and had her breasts sticking out a bit. "Is the dance floor full?"
"Nah, there's still enough people there," the bouncer said. The tone sounded like he was at a loss for words. He had to have seen a lot of women dressed in revealing clothes at a place like this a lot. Why was this different?
"Good, thanks, Dave," Eve said with a smile on her face. Just like that, the bouncer just let her in without charging her.
The club was booming with lights all over the place, as well as pink and purple lights on the dance floor while "The Need to Be Naked" from Amber blared on the speakers. The music was so loud that Eve looked around to make sure that there was no one else around as she approached a door to the side and opened it. In walked Jack, as everyone was preoccupied with dancing, drinking, and possibly trying to go home with someone that night.
"So what's next?" Jack said to Eve's ear.
"What?" Eve said as she leaned in to hear Jack's voice better.
"I said, what's next?" Jack yelled.
"Just follow along, I got this," Eve said. From there, Eve walked away as Jack stayed behind. Eve looked around with many people dancing to the music, but close to a staircase stood a man who appeared to Hispanic, probably Mexican. He wore a red baseball cap, along with a dark letterman jack with yellow sleeves. Not the type of clothes that one would wear to a club. It was Hector Cruz, and he stood there with a couple of men. One of them walked off to go keep an eye on any activity on another end of the club.
Eve walked up with such sexy confidence, as well as stood in positions that would seem enticing to men.
"Hey, Hector, what's going on?" Eve said in a flirty tone.
Hector looked in front of him. "Oh, wow, Ling, looking good."
"Listen, I got thinking about that offer you gave me," Eve said. "What do you say we go talk about it, in private?" Eve gave Cruz the eyebrows gesture and winked as she smiled and stood in a rather suggestive position with her breasts hanging a bit and her cleavage showing.
"Um, okay," Cruz said with a smile and turned towards the other man. "Hey, I got some business to attend to. Keep an eye on any crazy shit going on."
As Eve walked with Cruz up the stairs, Jack slowly sneaked up behind the bouncer and got his pistol out and pressed the barrel against the bouncer's back. The bouncer almost turned around, until he heard, "Don't try anything stupid. You and I are going upstairs right now, sound good?"
The bouncer nodded his head in response.
"Good," Jack said.
Cruz led Eve to his office upstairs. It appeared that the nightclub was mainly used as a front for his real business, as there were posters of movies that had the Zeus X Productions logo imprinted on them, ranging from one starring a female porn actress named Roberta X, as well as some having an image of Ruby on the posters, along with that woman Pearl, the same "masseuse" from Black Orchid.
They entered the office. Cruz headed straight for his chair at his desk.
"Okay, Ling," Cruz said. "You say you want to do some work for me, I want to see what you're made of first."
Deep down, Eve knew that this guy was a sleaze. There was not a doubt in her mind that a lot of the women he cast in his films, he got a piece of the action as well, probably when he interviewed them to be cast. But considering her mission at hand, she had to maintain her cover. She got on top of his desk and sat in a seductive position, with her right leg over her left, bent over to show her cleavage as well as used her shoulders to press her breasts together.
"I see you're getting a little excited," Eve said. "Let me help you some more."
Eve slid off the desk and knelt on the floor. She rubbed Cruz's legs a bit and then ran her right hand towards his crotch to rub it a bit.
"You like?" Eve said.
"Oh yes!" Cruz said.
"It's just about to get better," Eve said. She reached for the waistband of his pants and messed around a bit with his belt before she would slowly undo it. Cruz sat back with a big smile on his face. His eyes were closed. All he had in his mind was the action he would get from this head-turner, and to him, it didn't matter which head would be turned, or which head he was thinking he with.
"Did I catch you a bad time?" Cruz's eyes popped open and the only thing he saw was the barrel of a pistol that Jack gripped. Just then, he felt something cold and made of steel pressed against his crotch.
"What the fuck?!" Cruz looked down and saw that Eve had her pistol pressed down there.
"Careful, Hector," Eve said. "You don't want this to end 'prematurely' now, do you?"
"Shit, Jack Slate?" Cruz said. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I'm here to ask you some questions," Jack said. Eve then got up and slid over the desk and pointed her pistol towards Cruz.
"What the fuck, Ling?" Cruz said.
"Nothing personal, Hector," Eve said.
Jack said, "I'm here to ask you something. Where is Ruby Diamond?"
"Who?" Cruz said.
Jack pressed his pistol above the brim of his cap. "I don't have time to fuck around. You're going to tell me what's up, or you'll either meet a bullet to your head, or a bullet to your dick. The question is which would you prefer?"
"Okay, what do you want from me?" Cruz said.
Jack reached inside his jacket and pulled out what looked like a fold piece of paper. He unfolded it as best as he could. It was revealed to be that poster of Hildy he took from Wireboy the previous night. It was the same poster from her time as a stripper as she wore that hot pink bikini in it.
"Faith?" Cruz said as he looked at the poster.
"Yeah," Jack said with a touch of derision in his voice. "'Faith' here told me about how you and a couple of Russian thugs went to The Den of Iniquity recently to try recruiting 'Faith' for your movies, among other things. Seeing as Ruby was one of your biggest stars, she also took part in the 'recruiting' process for Fahook Ubduhl's sex slavery trade. So I want to know this, what does Ruby have to do with all of this?"
"You care about that fucking whore or something?" Cruz said.
Jack looked towards Eve who then pointed her gun downward.
"Take your pick, Cruz, head 1," Jack said as he pointed his gun to Cruz's head and then shifted his attention towards Eve, who pointed her gun towards Cruz's crotch. "Or head 2."
"Okay, fine!" Cruz yelled. "For months, Fahook Ubduhl has been making moves in the city as he had been trying to take over businesses and shit. Most of the money he's been making in is in sex slavery. When Augie Blatz died, Fahook started taking everything over. He had come to me for a partnership, whether it's in Zeus X Productions, the Blue Fly, or the Chaud Lapin Club. He also took over ownership of the Den of Iniquity after Blatz's death. He thought that some of the girls at that club were worthy of his trade, including Faith. Shit, Boris and Dimitri came to me about recruiting her for some of my movies, as well as Fahook's sex slavery business."
Cruz paused for a bit to catch his breath. The red on the brim of his hat looked wet from the sweat that had been seeping through it.
"As for Ruby, well, for a while she had been trying to get in with Fahook for the money. She may had done some movies here and there, and worked for Fat Chow at Black Orchid on the side, but she had been doing a lot of shit for Fahook, and possibly the mayor."
"The mayor?" Jack said.
"Yeah, Pinnacle had been working with Fahook for a while," Cruz said. "Pinnacle had been wanting a cut of some of my business with Fahook, but Ruby was the one who came to me about recruiting Faith for my business and for Fahook's business."
It all came together now for Jack, at least in the case of Ruby. He knew not to use Hildy's real name in this discussion, so the two had been addressing her by her stripper name. It seemed that Ruby had been working her way up the ladder and had something to do with Hildy's abduction that one night. But why did she let Hildy go? That was something that still confused Jack, as well as Hildy.
"Is that all?" Jack said.
"Yes, yes, that's all I know," Cruz said and took a deep breath.
"Just one more thing," Jack said. "Have you seen Ruby at all recently?"
"Yeah, I saw her, she was here not too long ago," Cruz said. "She left before you guys got here."
"Where will I find her?" Jack said.
"I don't know, I just…," Cruz said until Jack pointed his gun to Cruz's face again. "Okay, okay! She said she was meeting with someone tonight at Phillies in Chinatown. I don't know all the details, but that's all I know."
"Thank you, that's all I needed to know," Jack said. "Come on, Eve."
Eve gave Cruz a smile before she left with Jack, much to Cruz's confusion.
After the two left the club, Jack's cell phone rang. "Hello?"
"Jack, it's Wireboy."
"Hey, talk to me."
"I set something up earlier," Wireboy said. "I have sent someone to meet with Ruby at Phillies."
"And you're just now telling me this?" Jack said.
"What? What's wrong?" Wireboy said.
"Nothing, I met with Hector Cruz, he told me where Ruby is going," Jack said. "I'll be right there."
Jack and Eve pulled up across the street from Phillies, which wasn't too far from some docks where some of the triads roamed. Eve was still with Jack at this moment, although with the cop stopped, Jack's mind was elsewhere, as he kept a lookout for when he would spot Ruby. Eve looked at Jack while he looked out the windows, but in her perspective, Jack looked like he stared off into space.
"Something on your mind, Jack?" Eve said. Suddenly the silence had broken and brought Jack back into reality.
"Oh, no, I'm just keeping my eyes open," Jack said.
"Tell me something, how much does this girl mean to you if she's more than willing to sell off your old flame and get involved with some really bad people?"
"Excuse me?"
Eve took a deep breath. "I saw the way how your old girlfriend reacted when I brought you to her apartment. The only thing I noticed about Blondie was that she was surprised to see you and scared shitless when I was around. She may have been surprised to see you, but I don't think she was happy to see you."
"Like I told you, it's not like that," Jack said. "I'm just trying to make sure she doesn't get in too deep."
"That's one thing I've noticed about you, Jack," Eve said. "When it comes to women, it's like you don't know what you want."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Jack said.
"Pearl was talking about how she knew that you wanted it deep down, but you didn't want to lose focus," Eve said. "Then there was Ruby, and then Hildy. I am surprised that you didn't try going for me."
"Well, we're partners, aren't we?" Jack said.
"Yes, we are, but don't think I don't see it in your eyes, Jack," Eve said. "I saw that your doctor was really worried that one night. Blondie was scared but then I hear other things. You and I, we may have the same goals, but I saw the way you turned away earlier when I was in my underwear. Don't act like you didn't like what you saw. You don't have a lot of luck with women, do you?"
"Why are you asking me this?" Jack said.
"Oh, come on, you've been asking for my help lately," Eve said. "I've been more than willing. I didn't have to, remember? Do you ever see opportunity when it's right in front of you?"
"I would think that some opportunities have slipped by me recently," Jack said.
"Not all of them," Eve said and then reached her hand towards Jack's leg. Blood rushed through Jack's veins the moment she touched his leg and looked directly towards her as she smiled at him. Suddenly, a smile rose on Jack's face.
"Trust me on this, Jack, I know what I want, and I will achieve my goals," Eve said. "When you want something, you just got to take it. Sometimes you just got to forget about some other things."
Jack read into what Eve said. He knew he could have worked alone on this, but he had been turning to her for help. He knew that Eve didn't have to help him, but she did. She could have gone after Patch herself, but she had been assisting him. She was also right about Ruby. Why did Jack care about her? First Hildy questioned it, now Eve questioned it, and it was making Jack question it himself.
The moment the two shared right at that moment, they looked at each other dead in the eye. Eve smiled at him. Jack smiled at her. The two started to lean in a bit towards each other. Just as they got closer to lock lips, Jack's phone rang.
"This is Slate."
"Jack, it's Wireboy. My contact told me Ruby is outside the bar."
"Thank you," Jack said. Suddenly the mood had died in that moment. Jack got out of the car.
"Hey, Jack," Eve said. "Call me later. I got shit to take care of."
"You're just going to leave like this?" Jack said.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine," Eve said. "Call me."
And just like that, she was gone. Not the first time a woman who's sparked my interest has walked out on me, but I couldn't let myself get distracted. I had unfinished business with someone.
The bar didn't look very busy for a Friday night for some reason. No one knew for sure why. It looked like it had its usual patrons, but one would think that a place like this would be busy. It was the same thing the previous night at Black Orchid when business was slow, yet the Blue Fly Club was busy earlier that night.
Jack went into the bar and the moment he saw a young blonde woman sitting in a booth, he immediately went towards the woman. It was Ruby.
"Hello, Ruby," Jack said and sat in the booth.
Ruby looked up as soon as she heard that voice. "Jack?"
"We need to talk, now," Jack said.
Author's note: I will continue this soon. This was rather lengthy, but I had some stuff that I wanted to do here. Regarding Eve's outfit, it's the closest you'll get to her outfit from the original 2002 game. In fact, it pretty much is except for the fact that I had her wear a crop top. Why? Because there is nothing realistic about going out in public with an open coat and revealing your bra like that, unless the person is a sex worker. Also, it was supposed to be an outfit she would wear at a club. The outfit was more accurate in her introductory scene earlier in the story when she posed a prostitute but was on a hit.
Next up, Ruby has some explaining to do, while Jack may get closer to solving his own case.
