Chapter 2: Priestess Arcana Burns Once More

Yukiko and the Tennysons were currently sitting around a campfire, Ben re-telling the story of how he turned into a fire monster(?). Yukiko didn't really know what to make of it. "I mean Teddie is a shadow given a human body and a Persona, but this is a bit different from that," She thought.

"I swear this isn't my fault this time!" Ben panicked.

"True, you had no control over the watch jumping at you. Still, you should've come back to us immediately, Ben. That forest fire could've been prevented," Yukiko told him. It was hard to tell, but Ben did look regretful at that part.

"I-I didn't mean to," Ben said.

"We know, Ben. Everything is gonna be fine," Grandpa reassured him.

"Do you think he'll stay a monster forever?" Gwen asked, concerned.

"I would hope not. We'd have to keep him in the bath for the entire trip," Yukiko wanted to laugh at the thought of Ben sitting inside of a tub filled with water.

"No, he's not a monster, he's an alien," Max corrected them. His words gained him confused and questioning gazes from his grandkids(Well...you'd have to assume in Ben's case.)

Seeing as he might've said something he shouldn't, Max was quick to cover his own folly. "I-I m-mean just look at him! What else could he be!?" Yukiko looked suspicious at that, noting that their Grandfather was hiding something.

"Ugh! I don't want to be a fire guy forever! How am I supposed to play Little League this fall if I charcoal the ball every time I catch a pop fly!?" Ben complained, scared of his new predicament.

"That...that should really be the least of your worries, Ben," Yukiko sweatdropped. Suddenly a beeping noise started coming from the emblem on Ben's chest, drawing all of their attention. In a bright flash of red light the fire guy was replaced with Ben.

"Ah ha! I'm me again!" Ben grinned, happily.

While Gwen complained about seeing her cousin's snotty face again, Yukiko's attention was drawn entirely to the watch on his wrist. "So, that's what he was talking about. It looks a bit tacky," Yukiko thought.

"Can you try taking it off, Ben?" She asked him. He did as requested, but the device refused to come off of his body.

"Agh! It still won't come off!" Ben complained.

"Oh, so you've already tried to remove it," She realized.

Seeing as his Grandson was back to normal, Max got up from his seat. "Better not fool around with it anymore until we know exactly what we're dealing with. I'll go check out that crash site, Yukiko you're in charge." Max walked off into the woods.

"Yes, Grandpa," Yukiko nodded her head.

"My little cousin found an alien watch from outer space, turned into some fire thing, and almost burnt down an entire forest. What other weird thing could happen tonight?"

Yukiko exited the bathroom in the RV, stretching her limbs, a yawn escaping her throat. "Oh! I really must be tired after everything today, maybe I should take a quick nap. Just to regain some energy before Grandpa gets back," Yukiko said to herself. She went to sit at the table to rest her head, and drifted off into her nap.

"Awa...k…"

"Mh...huh?"

"Ca...na…"

"This voice is...but why is she?"

"Yukiko."

"Yes?"

"Yukiko."

"Yes?"

"YUKIKO!"

"HUH!? WHAT!?" Yukiko jumped up, being rudely awakened from her slumber. She looked over and saw Gwen. Though something was off, Gwen looked somewhat concerned. "Gwen what's wrong?"

"It's Ben! Grandpa told him not to mess with that alien watch and he did! He turned into some big orange dog thing and ran into the woods!" Gwen told Yukiko.

"I should've realized that leaving them unsupervised even for a couple of minutes would lead to something like this," Yukiko sighed. She grabbed her jacket and headed outside. "Stay here, Gwen! I'll be back with Ben before Grandpa arrives!" Yukiko ran off into the direction Gwen pointed in. The orange haired girl could only hope that Ben didn't get himself into any more trouble.

"Oh who am I kidding, it's Ben," She sighed.

Yukiko ran through the forest at a fast pace, which would surprise most people. Her outward appearance would give no indication that she could run for this long. "Thank goodness for having to run through all those dungeons," Yukiko thought. Her sprinting slowed when she saw burn marks and broken trees around the area. "This isn't where the fire happened, so what could've...oh Ben!" Her senses screamed at her that Ben had been involved in a fight. But, with what she couldn't figure out.

PSSSH!

"WOAH!"

She turned in the direction of Ben's voice, sprinting faster through the trees and bushes to get to him. When she was finally close enough, what she saw caused her heart to race faster, seeing that Ben was cornered by what seemed to be a dark orange drone-like robot. Its laser was trying to hit him, but the boy was agile enough to dodge each one of the beams. She knew that he wouldn't be able to keep up forever, seeing as the next one almost hit him.

"What do I do!? How do I even get it away from him or get him away from him!? If only I could use my…"

Do you wish to use my power?

"Wha?"

Do you wish to protect those close to you once more?

"Yes, yes I do!"

Then call upon my name once more!

Yukiko saw it, in front of her was the tarot card of the Priestess Arcana spinning in front of her eyes once more in a brilliant glow of light that only she could see. Even without her fan, Yukiko swung her arm and crushed the card instantly. Opening her mouth and bellowing out the name of her Persona.

"PERSONA! AMATERASU!" Behind her a large female figure appeared. Her entire body was bright gold with metal decorations on both her arms, they were octagonal star shaped with a red gem in the middle of both. In her hand was a long sharp blade. Yukiko wanted to enjoy bathing in the warmth of her Persona once more, not believing that she'd ever feel it again. However, now wasn't the time for that, Ben needed her help.

"AGI!" Yukiko swatted another tarot card, breaking it. Her Persona followed the command instantly launching the fire blast at the drone. It exploded on contact, falling to the ground in a heap of burnt metal. With the threat gone, Yukiko released a sigh of relief dispelling her Persona. She gazed down at her hand, confused on how she could use her Persona outside of the TV World, however there wasn't time for that.

"THAT WAS SO COOL!"

"Uh, what?" Yukiko blinked down at Ben. He was giddy with excitement and awe at what Yukiko had just done.

"You didn't tell me you could summon a giant woman and shoot fire!"

"YOU COULD SEE HER!?"

Their walk back to the RV had been filled with Ben asking her constant questions about her Persona, asking if he could see it again. Yukiko did try to summon Amaterasu, but the tarot card didn't appear in front of her again, confusing her even more. While in her own thoughts, Ben kept talking.

"Maybe we can be a Superhero team!? Wouldn't that be cool!?" He asked, hopeful.

"O-Oh! Uh, yeah! That would be pretty cool I guess," Yukiko hurried and answered the boy.

He was too caught up in his own excitement to care about her barely listening. "This is gonna be so cool! Best summer ever!"

"Uh huh."

Both saw Grandpa Max standing in front of the Rustbucket with his arms folded, glaring at the both of them. Gwen had a semi-smug look on her face, it was pointed more at Ben rather than Yukiko.

"H-Hello, Grandpa," Yukiko waved, nervously.

"Inside now."

"I was worried that you'd get popular with that thing on your wrist. That's why I told you not to fool around with it until we know what the heck it is," Grandpa Max scolded.

"Sorry, Grandpa," Ben apologized.

"And I hoped that you would've kept a closer eye on him, Yukiko," Max turned to the teen who was sitting next to Gwen.

"I'm sorry as well, Grandpa," Yukiko bowed her head. Ben saw this and felt that he needed to take responsibility.

"Don't be too harsh on her, Grandpa! Yukiko saved my butt with her superpowers!" Ben revealed. Causing the other two to bring their attention to her.

"And of course he just goes and says it," She mentally sighed. "I-It's something we can talk about later! Shouldn't we focus more on Ben and his watch!" She tries to shift the attention away from her.

"That's right! I finally figured out how to make this work! All you do is press this button, then when the ring pops up, just twist it until you see the guy you want to be, slam it down, and BAMO! You're one of ten super cool alien hero dudes!" Ben explains his new found abilities.

"That kinda reminds me of Yu-kun and his mysterious ability to use more than one Persona," Yukiko thought back to her boyfriend.

"What about staying a super cool alien dude and not turning back into plain old pizza face," Gwen jabbed.

"I kinda haven't figured that out yet," Ben looked away. Max saw this as an opportunity though.

"With a device as powerful as that watch clamped on you, my guess is that we better help you learn fast," Max gave his approval for Ben to use the watch. The boy cheered in celebration, making Yukiko giggle at his cheerfulness.

"Mayday! Mayday! Somebody help us!" The radio in the RV suddenly cut on. "We're under attack by some sort of...I know you're not gonna believe me, but robot!" The guy was cut off by static.

"It sounds just like those things that attacked me! Must be looking for the watch, those people are in trouble because of me!" Ben exclaimed.

"It's not your fault, Ben," Yukiko says.

"No, I think I can help them!" Ben disagreed.

"What do you plan to do, Tennyson?" Gwen asked, confused. Ben turned around and smirked, holding up the watch. He and Gwen rushed out of the RV, Yukiko was gonna follow but was stopped by Max.

"We'll talk about these superpowers of yours later, ok?" He said.

"Y-Yes, Grandpa," She sighed. Seems she didn't escape entirely.

Stopping just outside of the campsite being attacked, Ben activated the watch. He looked to his Grandpa and received a nod to transform. "Eenny, meenie, minnie, here goes!" Ben slammed down the dial.

When the light died down Yukiko took note that Ben had turned into a bulky man made of green crystallized material.

"So, do you know what this one can do?" She asked.

"I don't know, but I'm sure it's gonna be cool!" His deep voice couldn't contain his eagerness to get into the action.

Yukiko gasped in horror at the sight of the giant robot destroying the campsite, people running in terror all around. She was really glad that they managed to stop the TV world from fusing with the real world or this would've become the reality for Inaba.

"Looks like Papa, robot isn't happy," Ben joked. "I'll get gear heads attention, you guys get the campers to safety," Ben showed a rare display of maturity. Yukiko was proud of her cousin for making such a decision.

"Yukiko? Wanna help out?" He asked. Yukiko looked up at the terrorizing machine, she wasn't sure if her fire would be good enough for the situation. There was also the fact that she didn't want anyone to see her Persona if she could activate it again. "You got this, Ben! Go be a hero!" She encouraged him.

"Heh, gotcha!" He ran off to fight the robot. Yukiko hurried after Max and Gwen to help evacuate the people.

Ben saw that the robot had grabbed a bystander and hurried over. "Hey! You want somebody to pick on? Try me!" He posed confidently.

The machine stared at him for a few seconds before dropping the man, it shot a beam at him, sending the Diamond boy flying into destroyed RVs. Then launched another one, blowing them up. Ben quickly emerged from the wreckage, cutting his way through the metal after turning his arm into a blade. "Cool," He observed.

He tried to run up on the robot with his blade arm, but it dodged and landed on top of him. "Oh no! Think I'm in trouble!"

Yukiko helped a little girl back to her feet and led her to her distressed mother. The two began running away from the battle. She looked over to see how Ben was doing, only to frown seeing him getting tossed around by the robot. It was launching more beams at him, Ben dodged some more of the strikes. Only for one of the beams to hit a tree, knocking it over. Both Yukiko and Ben gasped in shock when the tree was falling in the direction of where Gwen was.

Yukiko saw that Ben wasn't close enough to get to Gwen in time and that the girl was frozen in place. Fear began overriding her systems at the thought of Gwen getting killed. At that moment a familiar tarot card appeared in front of her once more and she wasted no time in breaking it.

"PERSONA! AMATERASU! AGILAO!" Yukiko cried out. Her Persona followed the command without question, launching the medium fire blast at the falling tree, obliterating it before it could make contact with Gwen.

Gwen was shocked at what just happened, knowing that it wasn't Ben. She looked over to her right and saw the gold woman floating above Yukiko. "What is that?" She questioned.

"Her superpower! Told ya!" Ben replied as he scooped Gwen up into his arms and brought her over to Yukiko. The heiress dispelled her Persona and pulled Gwen into a hug.

"Stay out of the way of danger, ok!?" Yukiko looked Gwen directly in the eyes.

"Y-Yes!" The girl replied immediately. Max eventually made his way over to make sure they were alright.

Suddenly a metal arm grabbed Ben and lifted him up. It attempted to rip his arm off, but he quickly shattered its hand with his crystal spikes. Seeing as its original plan didn't work, it blasted Ben into the restroom building, destroying it.

"BEN!" Yukiko screamed in concern.

The boy got up unharmed, transforming his arms in blades and rushed in. When the robot shot a beam at him, Ben blocked it with his blades. When he did the beam reflected off his crystals. The three humans had to duck to not get hit by it. Seeing what had just happened gave Ben an idea.

"Come on! Burn on in here!" He pointed at his chest.

"Get out of there! Run!" Max called out.

When the powerful beam was launched, Ben grabbed it with his hands, preventing it from going any further. "What goes around, comes around! Let's see how you like you techno freak!" He reflected the beam around and destroyed its head. Defeating the robot. His family cheered for his victory.

"ALRIGHT! WAY TO GO BE-" They realized there were other people around and cut themselves off. "Uh...I mean, DIAMONDHEADED GUY!" Max corrected himself.

"Oh yeah! Who's bad?" Ben began gloating about his victory. Looking over he saw his family warning him about his time limit and bystanders being around. Ben widened his eyes at his folly and ran away.

"Yup, another Yosuke," Yukiko sighed.

Chie-chan: "So, how was your first day on the road trip?"

Yukiko: "It was out of this world if I'm being honest."

Chie-chan: "What? It was just camping, Yukiko-chan. I'm sure it was nothing that special, we would've had more fun together."

Yukiko: "Hehe! Don't think too much about it, Chie-chan! I know that you have a hard time with that!"

Chie-chan: "D-Don't just say that like it's normal!"

Yukiko: "Ah! I have to go now, Chie-chan. I'll explain everything to you later. Tell everyone that I'm doing fine."

Yukiko put her phone away just as a blue velociraptor looking alien zoomed into the campsite. She knew it was Ben based on the watch's symbol on his chest. It beeped red and he turned back to normal.

"I think this is gonna be the best summer ever!" Ben brushed off his shirt.

"I couldn't agree more, Ben!" Yukiko patted him on the head.

"Absolutely," Max agreed.

"It'll definitely be interesting with you two," Gwen said. "So, where did you go anyway?" She asked.

Ben started giggling to himself. "Just had to take care of a couple of things before our vacation really got rolling."

"I wonder what he could be talking about? Though considering it's Ben, it could be something silly," Yukiko shook her head. She watched as her family entered the RV, her mind trailed back to her Persona. "They're gonna have some questions and I don't know if I should tell them everything yet. But, maybe I will explain the full story to them one day." Yukiko nodded to herself and entered the RV.

BUUUUMMMM

Feeling her phone buzz in her pocket, she opened it to see a name that she hadn't expected to see so soon. Answering the phone, she smiled softly and allowed their conversation to ease all of her worries.

Chapter End

NOTE: So, Ben and Gwen can see her Persona. As to why they can see it my reasoning is based around Ben having the Omnitrix, so it kinda warps his perception a bit. Allowing him to see things he wouldn't normally be able to see. Gwen's should be obvious, but if not then don't worry it'll be explained later on. Thank you for reading.
