NOTE: I can just say this without it really being a spoiler. Yukiko's last name isn't Tennyson, because her father married Yukiko's Mother, who at the time would be Amagi Inn's Heiress. So, he would have to change his last name to hers if he wanted to marry her. Yukiko herself mentions this to Yu if you take her romance route, saying he would have to take her last name if they were to get married.
Does Yukiko have Anodite abilities? Who knows, that would require her to meet Verdona and this story isn't going into Alien Force.
Review and Enjoy!
Chapter 3: Cooking and Experiments
Beautiful dark brown eyes fluttered open softly, Yukiko found herself staring at the ceiling of an RV and briefly questioned her location. "Oh right, summer road trip in America."
Sleeping arrangements were decided after they left the airport. Grandpa Max would take the couch in the kitchen area while the kids used the bedroom in the back. Gwen decided that it would be best for Yukiko to take the bottom bunk, so she could have more space. Ben had complained until it was explained that teenage girls need more space for things, to which he had no choice but to give in.
Getting off of the bunk, Yukiko looked at the clock on the microwave and saw that it would be another hour before the sun would come up. She stepped across the floor lightly so as to not wake up her family, she quietly opened the door of the RV and stepped out. The Rustbucket had stopped at a rest stop for the night, it was peaceful and Yukiko appreciated it.
The chill summer breeze swept by her, her body shivered a bit. She was only dressed in her pink yukata and white socks, so it gave her enough protection from the chill. She walked over to a bench next to the Rustbucket and stared at her palm. "I was able to use my Persona outside of the TV World, but that wasn't possible before...or was it?" Yukiko questioned. There was never a need for the Investigation Team to use their Personas outside of the TV World. Any problem requiring them was only ever in the TV World, but with Ben having that alien watch attached to his wrist there might be more problems requiring her to fight.
"If that's the case, then I'll fight. I want to understand why my Persona called to me and I want to protect my new family as well. There is so much mystery surrounding my family too, I want to know the truth. Just like I've done before, I'll continue seeking out the truth," Yukiko pressed her hand to her chest.
CRASH!
Yukiko heard something that sounded like glass breaking, but when she looked around nothing seemed to have been wrong. Suddenly a bright light came forth from her hand and she looked down at it, within it was her tarot card glowing brightly like always. Yukiko closed her hand and the card went away. "What if I try…?" Yukiko willed for the card to come back and unlike her previous unsuccessful attempts it did. "You were waiting for me to strengthen my resolve again? Weren't you? I'm sorry for not figuring it out sooner, Amaterasu," Yukiko spoke softly.
Turning around, Yukiko saw that the sun was starting to rise, meaning that they'll continue their roadtrip. "I should hurry and get dressed, don't want to wait for others to use the bathroom," She giggled. Yukiko quietly made her way back into the RV, ready to start her day.
Ben groggily opened his eyes, the smell of food being cooked entering his nostrils. "H-Hu-wha? What's cooking?" Ben rubbed his eyes.
"Morning, Ben, Yukiko decided to cook breakfast for us this morning. Hurry up and get dressed," Grandpa Max explained to his grandson.
"Hurry up, doofus! We're aren't gonna wait all day!" Gwen snarked. Ben blew his tongue at her, grabbing his usual outfit the boy entered the bathroom and changed.
He sat down next to Max and gazed at Yukiko's back while she hummed at the kitchen counter. "So, what's she cooking?" He asked.
"It's a secret, Ben. I want to surprise you guys," Yukiko answered, her hands moving rhythmically as she dumped ingredients into the pan. A dark purple aura began to emanate from the pan that was sizzling.
"Maybe it's a Japanese dish! I've always wanted to try some!" Gwen exclaimed, hopeful.
"I don't think I have the right ingredients for anything too special, Gwen. Don't get your hopes up too high," Grandpa Max said.
"We can just stop at a grocery store and buy some!" Gwen replied. Yukiko turned her head at that, a smile gracing her lips.
"That would be wonderful! I can start making a grocery list right after we eat breakfast," Yukiko agreed with the idea.
"BOOOORRRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!" Ben shouted, tilting his head to the side. His rude remark earned him a glare from Gwen.
"Is that a problem, doofus? You should be more excited to try out another culture's food, especially if it's about family!" Gwen said, upset.
"If it's gonna involve all that boring stuff like shopping then I'd rather not do it at all," Ben shrugged. "Better yet we can start trying out some of my other forms! Grandpa you said we would!" Ben's excited eyes turned to the old man. Gwen did the same, but it wasn't for the same thing as Ben.
Max rubbed his nervously as both his grandkids' eyes bore into him. Eventually he sighed and gave in. "I did promise Ben that we'd practice with his forms some more," Max said.
"UGH! YES!" Both exclaimed at the same time.
Gwen sulked in her seat. "Of course we're just gonna do what Ben wants." Ben stuck his tongue out at her and she responded the same.
"It's fine, Gwen. I don't mind helping Ben some more," Yukiko turned off the stove, and placed the food(?) onto three plates. "Besides, the food is done and ready to be eaten!" She smiled.
Ben sat up and clasped his hands together and rubbed them. "Ah yeah! Rich people cooking here I come!"
"Ben, don't call it that," He grandpa sighed.
"Yeah yeah," He waved off, his hunger never leaving his eyes. It wasn't until Yukiko placed the food on the table that the light left his eyes. Ben stared at the food(?) on the table, his bangs covering his eyes. He looked up and looked at Gwen, her face looking exactly as his.
"Oh! Yukiko, this is really good!" Grandpa Max complimented. He dug right into the food(?) with the utmost enthusiasm. Yukiko gasped excitedly from hearing this, nobody had ever complimented her food like this, it made her heart flutter with joy.
"Thank you, Grandpa! I'll be sure to keep cooking then!" Yukiko giggled. Her dark orbs shifted down to Ben and Gwen who were slowly moving their forks through the food. "Ben? Gwen? What's wrong?" She asked.
"Hurry up, kids! Yukiko took the time to make this breakfast, it's only right that you appreciate it," Max said, already having finished his plate. Both kids gulped and looked at Yukiko one last time. The teenager had an angelic smile on her face and they would feel guilty if they made said smile disappear.
Gulping once more the kids scooped up a bit of the food and nodded to each other. "Down the hatch, Mystery Food X…"
Ben and Gwen stumbled out of the Rustbucket, their faces a shade darker. Behind them Yukiko strolled out of the RV with a pep in her step, happy to see that everyone had eaten her cooking. Ben dropped to his knees and clutched the ground below him. "Why...why was I forsaken to taste Mystery Food X…?" Ben questioned.
Gwen knelt down next to him, grabbing him by his collar. "We have to make sure to keep her away from the kitchen! I'd rather eat Grandpa's exotic foods than her cooking ever again!" Gwen whispered fiercely.
"What happened to appreciating her efforts?" Ben smirked lightly. His smirk disappeared when a dark aura appeared around Gwen.
"I'd rather force myself to smell your 3 week old socks than ever let her near a kitchen again!" Gwen's cold glare bore directly into his soul. Ben never thought he could fear his cousin, but the genuine look of fear and anger in her eyes spoke volumes. It made him think back to when Yukiko was knocking him around with the fire extinguisher.
"Girls really are scary," Ben thought.
"What are you two talking about?" Yukiko loomed over them, confusion written on her face.
"GYAH! N-NOTHING!" Both of them jumped back scared that she could've heard them. Yukiko tilted her head at them, not understanding why they would've jumped like that.
"Alright, Ben! We're in an open field at the moment, so go ahead and transform," Max walked out of the Rustbucket.
Excitement soon overwritten any sense of fear the boy possessed earlier and turned on the alien watch. "Hmmm...this one!" Ben slammed down the core, engulfing the space in green light.
Yukiko took a notebook out of her purse and opened it, Ben had asked her to write down each name he'd name his forms. So far they have already listed…
Heatblast
Wildmutt(Still hasn't seen it.)
Diamondhead
XLR8
Ghostfreak(Took a picture of and sent to Chie immediately. Scaring her friend half to death.)
The green light died down and Ben had transformed into something that kinda resembles Kanji's Rokuten Maou in the muscles and color department. He was big, red, with four arms, and wore a jumpsuit resembling Ben's shirt. There were also the small four yellow eyes that he had.
"Four Arms!" Ben shouted as if it was instinct for him. His shout was only met with dead stares from his family members.
"Really? Four Arms?" Gwen raised an eyebrow at the name choice.
"Being a little too on the nose there, don't ya think?" Grandpa Max asked.
"Feels really...dumb," Yukiko said, bluntly.
Four Arms huffed in annoyance at their bellitment of his naming sense. "Hey! Who's the one with the alien watch!? ME! So, I get to choose the names!" Four Arms pointed at himself with all four limbs.
"Four Arms it is then," Yukiko scribbled the name down in the notebook. She closed it and walked over to Four Arms and touched his arm. "You have very tough skin, like compared to that of a crocodile, only tougher," Yukiko described.
"It's obvious to tell just from the appearance that this form is meant to be strong. Though if only we had something to test his strength with," Max said. Suddenly all three grandkids' gazes shifted over to the Rustbucket, before Max could prevent it, Four Arms had already made it to the RV.
Four Arms picked up the motorhome with relative ease as if it was just a simple toy in the palm of his hands. He began lifting it up and down as if he was lifting weights, the mere sight of it almost gave Max a heart attack.
"Ok! That's enough, Ben! You can put her down now!" Grandpa Max commanded.
"But, Grandpa, I haven't even tossed it yet," Four Arms complained.
"Tossed!?" Max squeaked in fear.
"PFFT! Grandpa's face looks like Chie-chan's from the other night! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Yukiko held her stomach as she broke into a laughing fit.
All three sweat dropped at Yukiko's laughing, still getting used to her fits of laughing. Four Arms slowly placed the Rustbucket down so as to not give his Grandfather a heart attack.
"H-How about we test durability now?" Max suggested.
"But, how are we supposed to do that? I'm sure any normal weapon isn't going to do anything to Ben right now," Gwen pointed out. Grandpa turned around to look at Yukiko, who was starting to come out of her laughing fit.
"Yukiko, do you think you could use your abilities to attack Ben?" Max asked. Her laughter ceased at that question.
"Attack Ben? Um...I'm not sure about that," Yukiko wasn't able to summon her Persona on her own until last night. When they were testing Ben's previous forms there was no durability test, since none of them could provide any form of force good enough. "But, it's different now. I can use my Persona now, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to talk about it," Yukiko hesitated.
Max noticed it and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's fine if you don't want to talk about it right now, but only use it to help Ben," Max told her.
"Yeah, I think I can do that," Yukiko walked over to Four Arms and took a deep breath. Reaching into her purse, Yukiko pulled out her fan, and twirled it between her fingers. The tarot card appeared in front of her, opening the object, she smashed the card to pieces.
"PERSONA! AMATERASU!" Her Persona appeared above her, glowing beautifully in the sun's light. Four Arms and Gwen stared at the translucent woman with a mixture of awe/excitement. Max stood on the side, wondering what they were staring at.
"Maybe it's something only kids can see...no there's definitely more than that," Max tried to figure out why he couldn't see her Persona.
"Alright, Ben! Get ready for it!" Yukiko announced.
"Bring it! Four Arms can take anything you dish out!" Four Arms didn't attempt to guard or anything.
"AGI!" Amaterasu shot the small ball of fire at Four Arms, Yukiko expected the alien boy to get knocked back, but he stood there as if the fire didn't even touch him. Max was confused, he saw the ball of fire get shot at Ben, but didn't see what shot it.
"Is that all you got?" Ben taunted.
"Hmph! AGILAO!" A more medium sized blast of fire knocked into Four Arms. He was pushed back a bit, but overall completely fine.
"You hit like a girl!" Four Arms continued to taunt, feeling overconfident.
"She is a girl, doofus," Gwen rolled her eyes.
A vein popped up on Yukiko's forehead, her dark aura returning once more. "Ok, Ben, let's see if you can handle this," Yukiko said. The temperature around them began to grow a little, sweat appeared on the Tennysons' foreheads. Max pulled Gwen back as the air around Yukiko grew tense.
Four Arms' confidence wavered a little, remembering his older cousin's anger could be a dangerous thing. However, he was too stubborn to try and apologize for his comment.
Yukiko broke the card with harsh force. "AGIDYNE!" Amaterasu launched a powerful blast of flames at Four Arms. Four Arms guarded with all four arms and was hit by the ball of flames. He was knocked back, not expecting that much force behind the blast.
He hit the ground and groaned as the watch's symbol began beeping, in a flash of red light Four Arms turned back into Ben. "Ugh...remind me not to piss her off," Ben mumbled.
"Oh, Ben! Are you ok!?" Yukiko's entire mood did a 180 and she ran over to her younger cousin. Grandpa Max and Gwen rushed over as well to check on the boy.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I told you Four Arms is tough!" Ben puffed his chest out. Yukiko giggled at him, finding his tough boy act adorable.
"You sure you're ok, Ben?" Max asked.
"Yeah, we don't need you being any dumber than you are now," Gwen smirked.
"Oh yeah!? Well we don't need you snoring so loudly at night!" Ben countered. Gwen backed away with an offended gasp.
"I don't snore, doofus! If anyone here snores it would be you!" Gwen poked her finger into his chest.
"No you!"
"No you!"
"No you!"
"No you!"
Max sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Come on kids, let's get back on the road," He turned around back to the RV. Yukiko also sighed, knowing that the two of them will be at it for a while.
"Well, at least I don't have to worry about explaining everything for now. I should just take my time, not like we'll have to deal with Super Villains for anything," Yukiko chuckled at the thought.
Chapter End
NOTE: This chapter was more of filler before we get into another Ben 10 episode. I did originally want to have this chapter be Washington B.C. but I felt like adding some scenes with just Yukiko bonding with the Tennysons before doing it. Next chapter Yukiko will meet everyone's favorite mad scientist.
Review and have a great day!
