Note: I think that this might be one of the hardest stories for me to write. However, by doing research on Adventures and Assault, I can manage to use their material and change/retcon some stuff for this story. Before moving on, I want to say something to five reviewers.
The White Wolf named Alex: Thanks for saying that, I hope you like the story in general.
Jac.exe: I don't think that I'm the only person who writes characters from the 64 to Command timeline into the Zero continuity, but I agree that it's not a bad idea. Also, you're right when you say that I need to put more emotion into the dialogue. Dialogue is not one of my strengths, though.
Ron: I definitely recommend looking up clips from the Star Fox games and looking up the series' lore. That aside, I hope that you're enjoying the story so far.
Yamagata: I agree with you when you say that we need a remake of Adventures for modern gaming systems, along with some changes to the game. However, there are some things in your review that I find odd. Fox can pretty much keep his blaster in Adventures. Also, super moves? Dude, it's Star Fox, not Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Thanks for the review, though, I hope that you stay tuned for the later chapters.
King Tutenfoxenkhamen III: Well, Fox and Krystal don't have romantic feelings for each other at the moment. Chances are, it will take a WHILE for them to fall in love with each other. For now, they are only friends.
Now that I've said what I needed to, it's time for chapter three.
Chapter 3: The First SpellStone
Fox, Krystal and Tricky were walking through the SnowHorn Wastes, searching for the first SpellStone. Before he began following the cobalt vixen & the EarthWalker, the orange tod put on his winter jacket so that he wouldn't freeze to death. However, he noticed Krystal taking off her backpack and reaching into it.
"Do you need something warm to wear, Miss Krystal?" Fox asked.
"No, I've got a parka in here." Krystal said as she pulled out a light brown parka. "The CloudRunners gave it to me two months ago. Also, you don't have to be formal when you talk to me."
"Okay, Your Majesty!" The tod chuckled.
Krystal couldn't help but blush as she put her backpack on her shoulders. Despite having met Fox half-an-hour ago, the cobalt vixen was charmed by his sense of humor. While she had been in the proximity of comedians on Cerinia, none of them made her happy, largely due to the fact that they told terrible jokes. With Fox and Tricky following her, Krystal continued walking. That was until she stopped in her tracks, taking cover behind a rock.
"What's wrong, Krystal?" Tricky asked.
"There's a group of SharpClaws coming towards us." She told the young EarthWalker.
"More of those guys?" Fox came up to them. "C'mon, we can handle them. All we need is a distraction."
"Like what?" The Prince of the EarthWalkers asked.
The SharpClaw group walked near the rock that Krystal was hiding behind, where they noticed Tricky.
"Look," One of them cried, "it's an EarthWalker!"
"Get him!" Another one roared.
However, the SharpClaws were then taken down by Fox's blaster and Krystal's staff. Once they were dead, the orange tod and the cobalt vixen continued walking through SnowHorn Wastes. As they did so, Tricky walked behind them, remaining cautious. After a few minutes, Fox saw a cave near a mountain.
"Let's take refuge, guys." Fox said as he led Krystal and Tricky into the cave.
Inside the cave was a mammoth who was locked in a cage. Krystal and Tricky stopped in their tracks when they saw him, while Fox came up to him.
"A SnowHorn!" Tricky quietly said.
"He's a big boy, isn't he?" Fox asked.
The SnowHorn looked at the three, smiling at Krystal and Tricky.
"Krystal! Prince Tricky, you're here!" He spoke.
"Hi Garunda Te!" Tricky greeted.
"The leader of the SnowHorn tribe?" Fox asked. "What are you doing in here?"
"The SharpClaws imprisoned me in this infernal cave." Garunda Te stated. "I've barely got enough strength to move, but if you feed me some Frost Weeds, I might be able to smash my way out of here."
"Frost Weeds?" Fox asked.
"I'll go get some." Krystal offered.
"Where do you find them?" The orange tod asked.
"They grow on trees local to SnowHorn Wastes, and there are some close by." Tricky answered.
Fox followed Krystal and Tricky out of the cave, where they saw some SharpClaws surrounding a tree that was no doubt where the Frost Weeds grew. Krystal was the first one to attack, launching a beam from her staff that hit one of the SharpClaws in the head and killed him instantly. Before the others could rush towards the group, Fox killed another one with a few shots from his blaster. When a SharpClaw came towards her, Krystal punched him in the face before fighting him with her staff. The cobalt vixen barely won, only using it to a fire a beam at her opponent's head. Once the SharpClaws were dead, Fox harvested the Frost Weeds while Tricky gave him a boost. After that, Krystal took the crops to the cave, bringing them to Garunda Te.
"Here we are." The cobalt vixen said as she held the Frost Weeds up to the SnowHorn.
Garunda Te then ate the Frost Weeds, feeling his strength return as he devoured them. Once he finished eating the crops, the SnowHorn smashed the cage he was in and exited the cave, with Krystal following him. Upon leaving the cave, Garunda Te looked at Fox, Krystal and Tricky.
"I can't thank you three enough for feeding me and saving me!" He spoke. "I've been trapped in that cage for days, maybe even weeks!"
"How did this even happen, Garunda Te?" Fox asked.
"Yeah," Tricky spoke, "where are the other SnowHorns?"
"They're in the DarkIce Mines." Garunda Te answered. "The SharpClaws gave us the option to either hand over the SpellStone or face massacre from them. While we gave it to them, the SharpClaws didn't leave my tribe alone. In fact, they imprisoned us and enslaved us, including my daughter!"
"Don't worry," Krystal said, "we'll go to DarkIce Mines, free Belinda Te, defeat the SharpClaws and get the SpellStone back!"
"Oh, Krystal!" The SnowHorn cried as he used his trunk to pull her into a hug, letting go after a few seconds. After that, Fox, Krystal and Tricky continued to walk through SnowHorn Wastes, going towards WarpStone.
"WarpStone," Krystal spoke, "take us to DarkIce Mines."
"Sure thing, lass!" WarpStone said as he put his hands on the ground, allowing her to climb on.
"Why can't we just go there on foot?" Fox asked.
"It would take nearly two hours to get to DarkIce Mines on foot." Krystal stated. "You wouldn't even be able to enter it with your Arwing."
"This planet is crazier than I remember!" The orange tod said.
"C'mon, Mr. Fox!" Tricky said as he climbed onto WarpStone's hand. Fox followed the young EarthWalker onto the Warp Pad, standing next to Krystal. After a minute, Fox, Krystal and Tricky felt WarpStone's hand teleport them to their next destination: DarkIce Mines.
The DarkIce Mines were busy, as various SnowHorns were being forced to work by SharpClaw slavers. The SnowHorns had scars on their bodies, having been whipped moments ago. Their slavers were on their guard, being prepared for any intruder who showed up and interfered in their business. However, one of the SharpClaws was taken down by a single shot from a blaster. After that, two others were decapitated by magic beams.
"Let the SnowHorns go," Fox's voice rang out, "or we'll be forced to kill all of you, SharpClaws!"
Not heeding the warning, several SharpClaws rushed towards their attackers, only for one of them to be shot in both his heart and his head. Once he was down, Fox and Krystal stepped forward, brandishing their weapons. After that, Krystal began to fight the SharpClaws that were in front of her, her telepathy allowing her to detect their next move. As for Fox, he shot two of the evil Saurians in their heads. Tricky stayed out of the battle, sitting near the Warp Pad. The moment Krystal killed her opponents, Fox took out his communicator and spoke into it.
"Peppy," he spoke, "Slippy, can you guys hear me?"
"Fox?" Slippy's voice came out of the communicator. "We can hear you, luckily for you and our new allies. But, where are you at?"
"Krystal, Tricky and I are in the DarkIce Mines." Fox said. "It's a place that we've never been to as a team, Slippy. However, if the SpellStone is here, we need to kill all the SharpClaws and free the captive SnowHorns in order to get to it."
"The SnowHorns have been captured?!" The toad cried. "Oh no, the tribe could be in danger of becoming extinct, even before Sauria gets destroyed without the SpellStones being put back in place!"
"We know that." Krystal said.
"I'll let you go," Slippy stated, "just find the SpellStone!"
"Don't worry, we'll get it!" Fox said before he hung up.
After that, Fox, Krystal and Tricky went through the DarkIce Mines, occasionally fighting a SharpClaw or two as they went through the place. In addition, Krystal freed any SnowHorn she saw once their SharpClaw captors were dead. After nearly thirty minutes of killing SharpClaws and freeing SnowHorns, the three came across a single SnowHorn in a cage. She was sleeping, being woken up by their footsteps. Bringing her head up, the female SnowHorn looked at Krystal and Tricky.
"What are you two doing here?" She asked.
"We're here to save you, Belinda Te!" Tricky smiled.
"And we're looking for the SpellStone." Krystal added.
"Here," Fox said as he fired his blaster at the cage, "I'll free you!"
Belinda Te smashed the cage open, getting free and moving towards her saviors.
"I can't thank you three enough!" She said. "Meet me near the bottom of the Mines, it's very important!"
The SnowHorn then left the area, leaving Fox, Krystal and Tricky by themselves.
"Bottom of the DarkIce Mines?" Fox asked. "Why?"
"It must be where the SpellStone is!" Tricky said.
"It is," Krystal said, "my telepathy has been picking up its energies as we've been traveling through the place. The deeper into the DarkIce Mines we travel, the stronger the SpellStone's energies get."
"That being said, we should get moving!" Fox said as he ran out of the area with Krystal and Tricky following him.
After another half-an-hour of fighting the SharpClaws and freeing the SnowHorns, Fox, Krystal and Tricky entered the bottom of the DarkIce Mines, where Belinda Te was waiting. The SnowHorn looked at a locked door, intent on smashing it open.
"We're here!" Krystal greeted.
"Great," Belinda Te said, "I'll let you in."
Smashing open the door with her trunk, Belinda Te allowed Fox, Krystal and Tricky to enter the room. Once they got in, the three saw a strange creature encased in ice. The creature in question was a bug-dinosaur hybrid, being big enough to eat the three smaller creatures in front of it. Krystal and Tricky remained cautious of the creature, while Fox approached it.
"What the hell is this thing?" He asked.
"Galdon!" Tricky cried.
"It's a creature that was released into the DarkIce Mines a month ago." Krystal said. "Be careful, I highly doubt that Galdon was frozen just for show!"
"Can you sense the SpellStone, Krys?" Fox asked.
"Yes, it's inside Galdon!" The cobalt vixen stated.
"Oh boy," Tricky said in terror, "how are we going to get the SpellStone out of him?!"
"We'll fight him!" The Cerinian said as she aimed her staff at the ice around Galdon, firing a beam that melted it. Once the ice was melted, Galdon let out a roar as it went towards Fox, Krystal and Tricky. However, the three smaller creatures were quick on their feet. Fox fired his blaster at the monster's eye, temporarily blinding it. As for Krystal, she struck Galdon's claws with her staff.
"Alright," Fox spoke, "one of us has to go in the belly of the beast and find the SpellStone!"
All of a sudden, Galdon began to inhale, strong enough to suck everything into its maw like a vacuum. Krystal struck the ground with her staff, hoping that it would prevent her from being sucked in. As for Fox, he found himself flying towards Galdon's mouth.
"Fox!" Krystal cried as she grabbed Fox's hand.
"Don't worry about me!" The tod told her. "I'm going in Galdon's gut while you and Tricky keep him distracted!"
"Be careful!" The cobalt vixen warned. "Chances are, the SpellStone might not be in Galdon's stomach!"
"I'll take my chances!" The orange vulpine said as he let go of Krystal, allowing Galdon to inhale him.
Once he was inside, Fox opened fire at the surrounding tissue of Galdon's organs. The tod struggled to keep himself away from the beast's stomach acids, as he would die if he touched them. However, there was no sign of the SpellStone in the monster's guts. Firing at the esophagus, Fox allowed himself to be spat out by Galdon. Before he could hit the ground, Krystal caught the tod and helped him to his feet.
"It wasn't in his stomach!" Fox groaned.
"Then the SpellStone is in Galdon's membrane!" Krystal said as she fired several beams at Galdon, which knocked the beast back.
"It's in his brain?" The tod asked.
"Yes," the cobalt vixen stated, "do you want me to go inside of Galdon this time?"
Galdon got back up, getting ready to inhale again.
"He's going to use that vortex of a mouth of his again!" Fox stated.
"Get down, guys!" Tricky cried.
"Fox," Krystal told him, "stay here with Tricky while I go after the SpellStone!"
"How will you get to Galdon's brain?!" Fox asked.
"I'll either grab its uvula or stab my staff into its neck!" The cobalt vixen stated.
"Good luck with that!" The orange tod said as he saw her flying towards Galdon's mouth.
Before she could fall down Galdon's esophagus, Krystal used her staff to stab the beast's uvula. After that, she used the weapon to launch herself to the monster's brain stem. Once there, the cobalt vixen sensed the SpellStone, its energies flowing through the area. With no time to spare, she began to climb up to where the SpellStone was located: Galdon's cerebrum. The moment she saw it, the former Princess of Cerinia grabbed the mystical artifact and stabbed the cerebrum. After that, Krystal could feel Galdon dying, the feeling causing her to exit the monster's body through its mouth. Landing on her feet, she handed the SpellStone to Fox.
"What's Galdon freaking out about?!" Fox asked.
"It's head is about to explode!" Krystal answered. "I fired a beam that acts as a time bomb, having fired it when I stabbed the cerebrum!"
"Why not the medulla oblongata?!" Tricky asked.
"Does it matter?!" The cobalt vixen asked.
Galdon's head then exploded, causing the creature to fall to the ground, dead. After that, Fox fired his blaster at its corpse.
"It's already dead." Krystal stated.
"I just wanted to be sure." Fox said. "Anyway, we should get out of here."
"Agreed." The cobalt vixen stated.
Once Fox, Krystal and Tricky had arrived back in SnowHorn Wastes with the SpellStone, they saw Garunda Te and Belinda Te with their fellow SnowHorns. The moment the three walked up to Garunda Te, he pulled Fox and Krystal into a hug with his trunk.
"Thank you!" He spoke. "Thank you for saving my tribe and beating back the SharpClaws who enslaved us!"
"You're welcome!" Fox groaned.
"And we've got the SpellStone!" Krystal added.
Upon hearing that, Garunda Te stopped hugging Fox and Krystal and bowed to them.
"Congratulations, my friends!" The SnowHorn said. "I might be the Guardian of the SpellStone in my tribe, but now it is yours!"
"Why don't you keep it?" Fox asked. "I mean, you're the SpellStone's Guardian, aren't you?"
"Fox, we need it to save Sauria!" Krystal told him.
"Yeah, and the other three!" Tricky added.
"Right!" Fox stated.
Fox, Krystal and Tricky then began to walk away, overhearing the cheering of the SnowHorns.
"Good luck, you three!" Garunda Te shouted at them.
"Save Sauria!" Belinda Te yelled.
"We will!" Tricky shouted back at them.
"What do you mean Galdon has been killed?!" General Scales shouted at two SharpClaws.
"We mean that someone killed Galdon and stole the SpellStone that was inside of it!" One of the SharpClaws stated.
"And they might be going for the next SpellStone!" The other SharpClaw cried.
"Tell your fellow soldiers to begin looking for them!" Scales told them. "We can't risk the SpellStones and the Krazoa being brought together! Do it, or face death for your incompetence and failure!"
"We're on it, Sir!" The first SharpClaw shouted as he ran out of the room, the second one following him. Once he was alone, Scales let out an annoyed sigh.
"She's doing this, alright!" He said to himself. "I doubt that she's by herself, though! If Krystal's got an army with her, I can take them on! However, I feel as though something will prevent me from achieving victory."
"Scales." A voice whispered into his ear.
"What?" The General looked around. "Who was that?! Who said that?!"
"It's me, Scales." The voice spoke again. "Need I remind you what will happen if you fail me? I didn't make you my General for nothing."
"Trust me, Lord Drakor, I can stop them." The SharpClaw stated. "I won't fail you again, I promise."
"Good." Drakor's voice said.
After that, General Scales let out a sigh of relief. The SharpClaw then looked down at the domain of his tribe, having a proud and bold look in his eyes.
I will still spare you, Krystal, but I don't promise that I won't fight you. He thought to himself. I can't say the same for your allies. In fact, I will kill them in order to cripple the resistance. Once they're out of the way, I will finally have you, and Lord Drakor will give us whatever we want.
Note: Yep, the Krazoa aren't the bad guys this time, nor is Andross controlling them. I feel like, even if Nintendo changed a LOT about Dinosaur Planet when they remade it into Star Fox Adventures, they could have easily either made Scales the final boss or made Drakor the final enemy. Oh well, we always have the internet for creating our own versions of Adventures. Anyway, I hope that all of you are doing well, and are having a better week than I am. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
