Note: I decided to start work on this chapter early this month, and I hope to get this done before the end of the month. Before we move on, I want to say something to five reviewers.
Big Bossk Man 92: I didn't want Scales to be too easy for Star Fox and Krystal to take down, so I actually made him put up a better fight than he did during the original game. Needless to say, yeah, he should've taken those grenades off once he took Fox down, knowing that Krystal still has her staff. Drakor might be even tougher than him.
UltimateCCC: It's definitely the final battle of the Saurian Crisis, but with a better final enemy that the game gave us.
Plague Doctor 2035: The story's not done yet, my friend, but thanks for your review. I admit, writing dialogue is not one of my greatest strengths, and I rushed several fight scenes, but I didn't want to make the chapters too long and drawn out. I also wanted to experiment and do things differently than how other authors write stories like this, such as Krystal not being trapped in a gem and a different portrayal of Cerinia. Let's not forget that I didn't intend on adding so much sexual stuff, the story would've turned into an M-rated story, like how x-game is doing with his. I hope that you enjoy this chapter, and I hope that you can check out my other stories some time.
The White Wolf named Alex: You don't like Scales? That's understandable, given his actions and the fact that he didn't have a better boss fight. I don't even know why I made him sympathetic.
Yamagata: I did not intend for Scales' final words to be like something from a James Bond movie. In fact, I feel like speeches like that aren't simply limited to James Bond movies. Thanks for the review, and I'm happy to hear from you again.
Now that I've done that, it's time for chapter eleven: the final battle on Sauria!
Chapter 11: The Kamerian
Upon entering the cave, Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Krystal heard growling. The growling echoed, almost as if it was coming from multiple creatures at the same time. Deciding to ignore the growls, Fox led Peppy and Slippy deeper into the cave. As for Krystal, she had her telepathy on, sensing for the creature that was awaiting not only her, but also her allies. From what the cobalt vixen could tell, a Krazoa Spirit was with the unknown entity. Not only that, but the final SpellStone was with it.
As if she were annoyed by a loud noise, Krystal found herself getting a headache. She groaned and held her hand on her forehead. Concerned, Fox went over to the cobalt vixen. He put his arm around her, attempting to give her some comfort.
"You okay, Krystal?" Fox asked.
"I'm fine." Krystal groaned. "It's just that my telepathy isn't used to picking up something massive."
Not wanting to worry her friends, Krystal decided to fight through the pain, doing her best to ignore her headache. The cobalt vixen continued walking down the cave, her telepathy telling her what path led to the creature it was sensing. Fox was behind her, leading Peppy and Slippy in the direction he was going. In order to help him see better, Slippy turned on a flashlight. Fox did the same hoping to not shine it directly on Krystal. Even if the cobalt vixen wasn't looking directly at the flashlight, the orange tod didn't want to blind her with the light from it on accident.
After a few minutes of walking, Krystal stopped in her tracks. Seeing that, Fox, Peppy, and Slippy were able to see what the cobalt vixen was seeing. In front on her was a sickly orange glow, which looked like a fire was burning inside of where the path led. Coming up to Krystal, Peppy and Slippy saw that there was a path leading into a different part of the cave. The path consisted of a hill that led down. The orange glow was coming from the torches that were up on the walls of the area.
Entering the area on the path, Peppy and Slippy saw that a door was on the other side of the room. Fox and Krystal entered shortly after, seeing the door as well. With their leader and new ally by them, Peppy and Slippy walked to the door with them. Once they were in front of it, Star Fox and Krystal were ready to enter it. Before they could try to open it, however, a voice boomed out.
"So, you wish to fight me? You wish to gather the SpellStone and the Krazoa Spirit that I have with me?"
"That's right!" Fox said. "And we're not leaving until you are defeated!"
"Very well, enter!"
The door flew open, allowing Fox, Peppy, Slippy and Krystal to enter the area it led to. Once they were inside, a massive silhouette was above them. Looking in front of them, the four saw a massive reptilian beast with red scales. It even had technology on its body, meaning that it was either a cyborg or had armed itself with stolen technology. The beast itself wasn't the only concern of Star Fox and Krystal. There was lava around the area, albeit far away so that no one would fall in it.
Once Fox, Peppy, Slippy and Krystal were within its line of sight, the creature turned its head, looking down at them.
"So," the monster spoke, "you're the ones who have been hindering my plans for Sauria?"
"You!" Peppy spoke. "You're a Kamerian!"
"Indeed I am!" The beast said. "I am Drakor, the last of the Kamerian race! I am the one who told Scales to gather the Krazoa and the SpellStones!"
"But why do you need them?" Slippy spoke.
"Long ago," Drakor said, "my people, the Kamerians, came to this world in search of a planet to claim as our own. We were a powerful civilization, to the point where no other species would try to challenge us. Then, one day, the Krazoa gods of Sauria decided to do something about the Kamerians. One by one, my people was annihilated by the power of the Krazoa, who had drawn extra energy from the SpellStones! I became the survivor of the massacre, and I was plagued by a desire for revenge and domination. That was when I decided to gain loyalty from the SharpClaws in order to have them remove the SpellStones and scatter the Krazoa Spirits, even using their general, Scales, as my personal subordinate!"
"You monster, you would've destroyed the planet!" The toad cried.
"And I would have succeeded, had it not been for the resistance from the other tribes on Sauria!" The Kamerian said. "Now that my plans have been ruined by the four of you and your pathetic friends, I have no other choice than to kill you!"
"Not unless we kill you first!" Fox spoke.
"Oh, you alone believe that you can defeat me?" The beast snorted. "The mighty Drakor?!"
"Even if it kills us, we're not letting you win!" Krystal spoke, holding the sharp end of her staff out. "You're going down for the lives that you have threatened, those you have manipulated and corrupted, and for Sauria!"
"It's over, Drakor!" Fox shouted.
Letting out a thunderous roar, Drakor shook the area around him. While Slippy was afraid, Fox, Peppy and Krystal weren't. The three bravely stood, having their weapons out for combat. Once Drakor stopped roaring, he was ready for battle. Due to his massive size, the Kamerian figured that he would crush his enemies like bugs. However, he was about to get the surprise of his life.
Deciding to strike first, Drakor threw a punch towards his enemies. In response, Fox and Krystal jumped out of the way. As for Peppy, he rolled away, pushing Slippy out of harm's way. Before Drakor could strike again, he felt something hit him. Looking down, the Kamerian saw that Fox fired his blaster at him. In addition to that, Krystal was holding out her staff, pointing it at the beast.
Now that she had the opportunity, Krystal fired several beams at Drakor, which hit him in the eyes. He let out a roar of pain, covering his eyes with his hand. The Kamerian was about to strike with his other hand, but he felt it become frozen. Uncovering his eyes, the beast saw that his hand was practically stuck in an ice cube. Looking down, he could see that Krystal was still standing. The cobalt vixen was ready to fire her staff again, presumably to freeze Drakor's entire body.
Eager to get his hand unfrozen, and wanting to crush his enemies more, Drakor threw a punch at Krystal. The cobalt vixen jumped out of the way, but she could feel the power of the Kamerian's fist. He had managed to get his hand unfrozen, having smashed the ice on it. Knowing that her staff still had a blast charged, Krystal decided to use it on the beast. She changed her position in the air, deciding to dive down. With Drakor below her, the vulpine fired her staff, aiming for his head.
Before Drakor could attack, he felt his head get trapped in ice. This blurred the Kamerian's vision, to the point where he could only make out a cobalt blue blob landing on him. He even felt something stinging him. As much as the beast couldn't see, he could still tell that the stinging he felt was coming from Fox, Peppy and Slippy. They were no doubt firing their blasters at him, which were doing minor damage to him. Drakor even felt something hit him, seeming like someone was throwing something at him.
Smashing the ice that was on his head, Drakor was able to move it again. Looking down, he saw that Fox, Peppy and Slippy were firing their blasters at him, just as he thought. Looking behind him, the Kamerian saw that Krystal was hitting him with her staff, trying to cause damage to him.
"Looks like I'm having an early dinner today." Drakor said.
Alarmed by what he said, Krystal tried to jump off of Drakor. She intended on reaching the ground, so that she could attack a weak point on the Kamerian's body. However, the beast was quick to catch the cobalt vixen, bringing her close to his face. He licked his lips, ready to eat the vulpine. Fox and Slippy were still firing, until they saw Krystal being grabbed by Drakor. They were on edge, with Peppy even letting out a gasp.
"Peppy, throw a bomb at him!" Krystal shouted.
"What?!" Peppy cried. "Have you lost your mind?!"
"Just do it!" The cobalt vixen said.
Now Peppy was caught in a conundrum, given how Krystal told him to attack Drakor with a bomb. He felt conflicted by this: If he didn't throw the bomb, Krystal would die, but if he did throw the bomb, Drakor would release Krystal, but she still could get hurt. The cobalt vixen was practically wrestling the Kamerian with her staff, struggling to keep his jaws off of her. The hare, knowing that he didn't have much time, reached into his bag and got a bomb. He got ready to throw it, but he didn't know where to throw it at. Fox and Slippy came over to the lepus, essentially panicking.
"What are you waiting for, Peppy?!" Slippy screamed. "Throw the bomb!"
"I don't know where to throw it!" Peppy said. "Krystal just told me to toss the damn thing, but I'm worried about getting her hurt! Has the girl lost her mind?!"
"No," Fox said, "I think she has an idea!"
Back to Krystal, she was still fighting Drakor as best as she could. The cobalt vixen was still in the Kamerian's grasp, attacking him with her staff. After a few blasts and jabs to the face, the beast grew annoyed with how much of a fight his prey was putting up. He tightened his grip, making the vulpine grunt in pain. Krystal kept attacking with her staff, but she knew that she couldn't do it for long. She turned her head to Peppy, seeing that he had yet to throw a bomb at Drakor.
"Peppy, throw it NOW!" Krystal roared.
Seeing as there was no time to hesitate, Peppy complied with the order he was given. Aiming at Drakor's back, the hare threw the bomb. It exploded on the Kamerian, which, while not damaging his body, caused him to roar in pain. The beast released his grip on Krystal, freeing her. The cobalt vixen jumped to the ground, spinning her staff in her hands. She then ran behind Drakor, aiming at him.
"Krystal, what are you doing?!" Fox asked.
"I found a weak spot on his body!" Krystal said. "I was going to fire at it earlier, but that was before he grabbed me!"
Charging up her staff, Krystal was ready to fire at Drakor. From what Peppy and Slippy could tell, it was the same blast that she had unleashed upon General Scales. For Fox, however, he saw the blast that the cobalt vixen was about to fire as dangerous. He stood back, putting his arms up in an attempt to shield his teammates. The orange tod watched as Krystal fired the attack, which was heading for Drakor. The vulpine closed his eyes, hoping that the blast didn't destroy the area around them.
Moments before he could recover, Drakor felt something hit him. He roared as the attack harmed him, being powerful enough to bring him to his knees. The Kamerian collapsed, the pain being too much for even him to handle. Once he was down, Fox was ready to approach the beast. However, the orange tod saw that Krystal was still standing. The cobalt vixen wasn't hurt, but she was panting and shaking, looking like she was going to collapse.
"Krystal, are you okay?" Fox asked.
"I'm fine, Fox." Krystal stated.
"Gee, Krystal, you've got a really dangerous mind!" Peppy spoke. "Not only have you nearly risked your life for the sake of plan, but you've even demonstrated that your staff can unleash a blast that's strong enough to bring down a Kamerian!"
"I guess that I'm just eager to prove myself to you." The cobalt vixen said. "By using my telepathy, I can tell that each of you have done dangerous stuff for the sake of others. You've even gone on missions by yourself, Peppy."
"Let's not forget that Falco left for Zoness, going on a mission of his own." Slippy said.
"That's Falco for you, always wanting to fly solo!" Peppy said.
"Alright, guys, let's not waste time." Fox spoke up. "Let's look for the SpellStone and let Krystal gather the Krazoa so that we can end this!"
Nodding, Slippy and Peppy followed Fox over to Drakor. Krystal stayed behind, waiting for the Krazoa Spirit to exit the Kamerian's body so that she could get it. However, the cobalt vixen could sense that something was off. Not only was the Krazoa not leaving Drakor, but a faint heartbeat was being picked up by her telepathy. The vulpine let out a gasp, knowing that her allies were in imminent danger. She was loud enough for Fox to turn around in concern.
"Krystal?" He asked.
"He's not dead!" Krystal gasped. "Get away from Drakor, he's still alive!"
Fox stepped back in alarm, knowing that Krystal's warning wasn't wrong. Sure enough, he heard Drakor let out a groan. Upon hearing it, both Peppy and Slippy ran away from the Kamerian. However, they opened fire with their blasters, hoping to do some damage to the giant beast. Like before, each round they shot had no effect on him.
"Your feeble attacks are no match for a creature like me!" Drakor laughed.
Undeterred, Peppy and Slippy continued firing, trying to wound their enemy.
"Stop!" Fox shouted.
"Hold your fire!" Krystal yelled.
Peppy stopped firing, knowing that his blaster was doing nothing in terms of damage. Slippy kept firing, only to be stopped when Krystal touched his shoulder. Despite ceasing their attacks, the hare and the toad stood their ground. Fox and Krystal were already bracing for impact, glaring at Drakor. Krystal in particular was ready to attack the Kamerian with her staff again, eager to unleash what she had at her disposal. Fox held his blaster in front of him, despite knowing that it would have no effect on Drakor.
"None of you can beat me!" Drakor spoke. "I still have the SpellStone with me, and I'm willing to use it!"
"What do you even want with the SpellStone?!" Fox spoke. "You're enough of a powerhouse already, so why add extra power to yourself?!"
"Ah, Fox McCloud, you fail to understand what the SpellStones can really do!" The Kamerian said. "True, they're one of the main forces holding Sauria together, but they have other uses!"
Pressing down on the SpellStone, Drakor was surrounded by a red glow. After that, the artifact unleashed ethereal energies all throughout the area. This was followed by an explosion of light, which caused Star Fox and Krystal to cover their eyes. The four then felt their feet lift off of the ground. Looking down, they saw that they were in an area that looked like the depths of outer space. In the center of it was Drakor, who was holding the glowing SpellStone in his hands.
"The SpellStones are capable of fulfilling wishes to those who wield them!" Drakor spoke. "All it takes is a single push on one of them to unleash this power! If you have one, it only grants a minor wish! However, if you have all four of them, then they will grant your greatest wishes!"
"Is that why the SpellStones were removed from their rightful places?!" Slippy spoke. "So you can have your wishes granted?!"
"Correct!" The Kamerian said. "My plan was for those who removed the SpellStones to bring them to me, so that I may use them to wish for infinite power! That was until those pesky Krazoa Spirits got in the way!"
"That's because they knew what a monster like you would want with the SpellStones!" Krystal spoke.
"And with a wish that dark, you would destroy everything that we hold dear!" Fox added.
Drakor only growled, causing the area to change. Fox, Peppy, Slippy and Krystal found themselves being floated over to him, unable to stop. Krystal's staff couldn't even affect the ethereal energies coming from the SpellStone, the energies being too powerful for it. Once everyone was near Drakor, he spoke to them.
"My wish wouldn't have been purely selfish, as I would have shared my power with the universe!" The Kamerian stated. "Everyone has a deep desire, selfish or selfless! In fact, each of you have wishes that would've been granted by the SpellStones!"
Fox found himself surrounded by a fog that came out of the SpellStone. The fog bound the orange tod, preventing him from moving. Drakor looked at him, having a quizzical expression. The vulpine was unable to get himself free, even as visions clouded his mind. These visions included his parents and Andross, the latter of whom was chained up.
"Fox," Drakor spoke, "by using the SpellStone, I can tell that you wish for your parents to return to life! Another desire that you have is to kill the man responsible for their deaths: Dr. Andross Bowman! You have already killed him, but I can resurrect him in his weakest state, so that he can die again!"
Looking down, Fox thought about what Drakor had told him. The orange tod was honestly surprised that Andross was gone for good. Given how big the machine that the disgraced scientist had been inside was, the vulpine figured that he found a way to escape. Before he even made it back from Venom, he even saw the spirit of his father, James McCloud, holding off Andross. With that in mind, Fox felt that it would be wrong to kill the mad scientist again, even after everything he had done. Even if he could wish for his parents to be resurrected, he knew that it wouldn't be the same. Both of them would be amnesiac at best, and undead creatures at worst.
Drakor then looked at Peppy, who was glaring at him. The Kamerian put him in the same bindings that Fox was in, preventing him from moving.
"Peppy Hare," Drakor spoke, "I can see that you have been a widow for quite some time! Your wife, Vivian, died of a disease, spending her final days in the hospital! By using the SpellStone, I can restore her to life, so that you won't be lonely again! I can even restore James McCloud to life, seeing as you miss him as well!"
"But you can't restore the dead!" Peppy spoke. "I miss Vivian and James, but I don't want them to be zombies!"
Ignoring him, Drakor moved on to Krystal. He didn't use the same bindings that were on Fox and Peppy. Rather, the Kamerian leaned down to the cobalt vixen, looking at her eye-to-eye. The Cerinian still had her staff out, willing to defend herself by any means.
"Krystal," Drakor spoke, "as the former Princess of Cerinia, I figure that you have the deepest desires! Your home planet was destroyed by the same man who killed Fox's parents, which means that you have something in common with him! The destruction of Cerinia still troubles you, does it not? You have thought about taking your own life, but you didn't want to worry anyone around you, putting on a happy face! Just think about it: If I had all the SpellStones with me, I could recreate Cerinia and give you a happy ending! What do you say?"
Krystal looked down for a moment, then closed her eyes. While the wish sounded tempting, the cobalt vixen couldn't trust Drakor. A tear went down her face as she remembered the destruction of Cerinia. Just the memory of it was enough to break her spirit, to the point where she made an attempt on her life upon entering Sauria. The vulpine missed her home planet, but she knew that Drakor might have had more sinister plans in store for her. Her telepathy could detect a hint of darkness in the Kamerian's words, even if it gave her headaches to use it on larger entities.
Looking up, Krystal faced Drakor and said one single word: "No!"
"What?!" Drakor was baffled. "Don't be a fool, Krystal!"
"You're the fool!" Krystal shouted. "I won't believe a single one of your lies! My telepathy isn't prone to working as well as it does when I'm up against beings that could measure up to be the size of a house or skyscraper, but I could still sense evil in your words alone! My answer is still no!"
"But what about Cerinia?!" The Kamerian roared. "Don't you want your home planet back?! Don't you want to see your family again?!"
"Cerinia is gone!" The cobalt vixen said, letting tears go down her face. "I'll never get it back, and nothing can change that! But I won't listen to your lies, seeing as you could warp the wishes the SpellStone grants for your own sick purposes! I have a new home now: Sauria! I might have not been able to save Cerinia, but I can save Sauria from monsters like you!"
"And we're here to help her, even if it's part of our job to save Sauria!" Slippy stated.
"No matter what you have planned, we'll defeat you!" Peppy screamed. "You're no match for us!"
"It's over, Drakor!" Fox shouted.
Enraged, Drakor let out a powerful roar that shook his surroundings. In response, Krystal fired several beams from her staff. While the first few didn't hurt the Kamerian, the last one hit him in the mouth. Fox, Peppy, and Slippy braced for impact, knowing that their enemy would strike again. Sure enough, the massive beast spat out a fireball, aiming for them. Gesturing for his teammates to move, Fox jumped out of the way. Peppy and Slippy managed to dodge, but they still felt the heat of the fireball.
Up ahead of him, Fox saw Krystal getting ready to unleash another Charged Shot at Drakor. Knowing that she needed help, the orange tod turned to Slippy and Peppy.
"Come on!" He said.
Nodding their heads, Peppy and Slippy followed Fox up to Krystal. The cobalt vixen was ready to fire her attack at Drakor, to the point where she was practically glaring daggers. Fox gently put his hand on her shoulder, not wanting to make her discharge the attack on accident. Peppy and Slippy looked at the vulpine, waiting for her to fire at Drakor. The toad wanted to speak up, but the hare prevented him.
"Got a plan?" Fox asked.
"Not really!" Krystal said.
"Then why are you going to fire that blast?" The orange tod asked.
"Because it's your turn to attack next!" The cobalt vixen stated.
Unable to keep the Charged Shot in her staff for much longer, Krystal fired it at Drakor. She stumbled back as it happened, being overwhelmed by using her attack. Fox was quick to catch the cobalt vixen, gently laying her down. Drakor, being hit by the blast, stumbled back, but was able to regain his balance. He let out a roar, being angered by the pain he received. Seeing that, Fox, Peppy, and Slippy ran up to face him, letting Krystal stay behind.
"Go get him, guys!" Krystal said as she sat up.
Slippy was the first to attack Drakor, throwing a grenade at his face. While it exploded, all the grenade did was burn the Kamerian's face. Peppy fired his blaster at the beast, aiming for the organic parts of his body. While the hare felt that he wasn't damaging his enemy, he was annoying him. Fox was also firing his blaster, but he was aiming at Drakor's face. The fact that he had been hurt from the grenade made it easier for the orange tod to attack.
Watching her allies fight Drakor, Krystal brainstormed various ideas. Knowing that the Kamerian wouldn't let go of the SpellStone, the cobalt vixen knew that they had to find a way to get it away from him. After shooting down the option of distracting the beast while her teammates climbed onto him and grabbed it, she had a second idea. In this case, the vulpine slowly moved forward. Upon seeing Krystal, Fox became fearful. Despite that, he felt her telepathy fill his mind, giving him a command.
Shoot the SpellStone out of his hand! Krystal screamed with her telepathy.
Trust me, I'm about to do that! Fox thought to himself, trying to respond to the telepathic message he received.
Looking up, Fox tightened his grip, waiting for Drakor to turn around. The Kamerian was getting fired at by Peppy and Slippy, who were practically draining their blasters of ammo. Enraged, he let out a roar, stomping the ground to get them away from him. Unluckily for him, the massive beast became a victim of Fox's next attack. He shot Drakor in the hand several times, trying to pry it open. The SpellStone was still in his grasp, but he wasn't going to let it go.
After shooting Drakor's hand a few more times, Fox saw that the SpellStone was slipping out of his grasp. Knowing that he needed one more shot, the orange tod fired it. After that, the SpellStone was knocked out of Drakor's grasp. Before the artifact could hit the ground, Slippy jumped up and caught it. When that was out of the way, Fox gestured for his teammates to run back to Krystal. They complied, with Peppy nodding his head.
Running back to Krystal and his teammates, Fox crouched down. Krystal was standing, holding her staff out for an attack. Slippy had his blaster out, eager to keep firing at Drakor. As for Peppy, he didn't know what to do. He wanted to attack again, but he knew that most of the attacks they were using to pummel their enemy were having little to no effect on him. The hare knew that they needed a plan, and they needed a good one.
Seeing how Krystal's staff was glowing, Peppy got an idea. Grabbing a grenade, the hare poked it with the end of the staff.
"Peppy, no!" Krystal shouted. "I know what you're about to do, and it might not work!"
"But it might work!" Peppy said. "While it might seem stupid, but have a little faith in me!"
Krystal reluctantly held her tongue. No matter how much she wanted to let Peppy work out his plan, the cobalt vixen felt that it would lead to catastrophe. The hare handed the grenade to Fox. Looking down, Fox could see that the grenade was now glowing. Knowing that he didn't have much time, the orange tod triggered it. After that, the grenade became a ball of light, which glowed in correspondence with the time it had left before detonation. When it had a few seconds left, Fox threw the empowered grenade at Drakor, closing his eyes.
Before Drakor could charge at his enemies, he found himself getting hit with the empowered grenade. The moment it hit the Kamerian, it detonated. Not only did it explode on him, but it also unleashed magic upon him. The magic stung the beast, hitting him with powerful bolts. As that happened, the grenade's blast radius increased, spreading throughout the room. However, it had also caused the area created by the SpellStone to dissipate.
Knowing that they didn't have enough time to stay in the cave, Star Fox and Krystal immediately got out of there. The four ram as fast as they could, not letting anything stop them. By remembering the route they took to approach Drakor's chamber, they were able to stay ahead of the blast. Upon leaving the cave, Fox saw a shockwave coming at him.
"Hurry up, guys!" He screamed.
Peppy, Slippy, and Krystal were out of the cave as soon as he said that. Before they could run for the longer, they were knocked down by the shockwave. Fox was unable to dodge it, despite his best attempts to do so. As soon as everyone was out of the cave, it became enveloped by a blinding light. In response, Star Fox and Krystal covered their eyes to shut it out. However, the light was bright enough to shine through.
Once the light had dissipated, Fox uncovered his eyes. As soon as he did that, the orange tod was met with a surprise: the Cave of Dragon Rock was gone! Before he could look around, he saw the smoldering body of Drakor on the ground. Whatever magic the empowered grenade was loaded with, it managed to do the trick in bringing down the Kamerian. It was so much of a surprise, Fox couldn't speak.
Peppy's plan worked! Fox thought to himself.
Getting up from the ground, Peppy walked over to Fox. The hare was ready to speak with the orange tod, but he saw Drakor's body.
"I can't believe it!" Peppy spoke in excitement. "My plan worked! The grenade I empowered with Krystal's magic took down Drakor like there was no tomorrow!"
"Yeah, it was a brilliant idea, but it almost killed us." A voice groaned.
Fox expected for that snarky comment to come from Krystal, but he could tell that it was Slippy who said it. Turning around, he saw the toad walking towards him and Peppy.
"I mean, someone like you should have better common sense than to do that!" Slippy complained.
"Well, despite it nearly killing us, it worked out." Peppy said.
"Indeed, it did." Fox said. "But, Peppy, might want to try it in a more open area next time."
A groan rang out from behind them. Turning around, Fox, Peppy, and Slippy saw Drakor glaring at them. Despite his wounds, the Kamerian was still able to speak.
"You weren't ... supposed to succeed in the end!" He growled. "You ... were ... supposed to be my prey! You were supposed to -!"
Before he could say another word, a blast tore into Drakor's head, finally killing him. When that happened, Slippy jumped back. As for Fox and Peppy, they stood their ground, wondering who managed to put down the Kamerian. They were ready to suspect Krystal, but they saw her laying on the ground. The Krazoa Spirit rose out of the massive beast, freed from its captor.
"Make sure that Krystal gets that Spirit!" Fox told Peppy.
Nodding his head, Peppy ran over to Krystal. Gently holding her in his arms, the hare waited for the Krazoa Spirit to approach. While that happened, Fox continued to look for whoever shot Drakor in the head. Looking up, he saw an odd silhouette in the sky. Rubbing his eyes, the orange tod gasped in disbelief. Up in the sky was an Arwing!
"Hey McCloud?" A familiar voice came out of it. "Same time, different planet! Long time, no see, buddy!"
Note: Okay, that ending was kinda random, but I just wanted to add a little surprise. It feels like the last part of the Adventures portion of the story, doesn't it? Well, no, it's not. Stay tuned. Until next time, guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
