Purgatory was a bar in the Presidium meaning it had good alcohol and a paying customer base that usually consisted of diplomats, Off Duty soldiers and wealthier citizens of the station. In these days however, with the war, the alcohol quality slowly sunk, the prices fell and the clients started including everyone that had money.
The atmosphere in the bar was gloomy, and the TV wasn't helping it at all.
"The world of Corbulo came under attack today, the famous Turian world was first attacked by Human Commandos that destroyed the ground-to-space defenses around the capital, creating a opening in the orbital defenses. Allowing the Human Fleet to land forces on the planet. Our camera team that was on planet filming a documentary managed to send us over this footage" Everyone's eyes turned to the TV.
The first thing everyone sees is the hated T-shaped Visor of a Human helmet. The camera pans out to show a group of ARC troopers slowly descending to the ground via jetpack and quickly dispatching the Turian Police at the scene. Then the Air Raid sirens started blaring and smoke filled the sky as munitions went off. An LAAT quickly landed in the plaza that the ARC troopers cleared, troopers disembarked the LAAT quickly capturing the Plaza and anyone still on it. A soldier noticed the camera man and pointed at him at which point the footage froze on the pointing soldier.
"Experts say the world will likely fall withing a week to the Human assault-"
Loud laughter originating from a Krogan drowned out the sound of the News. A young Turian was annoyed by this since the News Reporter was giving the current Turian casualties and decided to approach the Krogan.
"Whats so funny?" asked the Turian
The krogan looked at the young turian over his shoulder "Get lost kid before I break you by sneezing on you"
"I asked whats so funny krogan?" said the turian once again this time shoving the krogan slightly.
This time the Krogan turned to the young Turian and grinned. "You really should have listened pyjak" said the Krogan and headbutted the young Turian who fell on the ground holding his face in pain.
The entire bar looked at the krogan who went back to drinking and everyone else got back to drinking ignoring the young Turian on the ground.
"This was the largest fleet encountered yet, its appearance is unsettling, we suspected most of the Human forces were tied down on the front fighting us. As it turns out our assumption about us holding the numerical advantage and the way into their space not being protected was proven false. If we want to win we need to re-evaluate our strategy" Said an Admiral
"We managed to recapture some territory and gain a foothold in their space but not much besides that, if nothing changes we will be locked in a stalemate" Said another
"Commodore Victus, what is your input on this?" Asked Primarch Fedorian
"Sir, what Admiral Tiberius said is correct, we need to re-evaluate our approach to how we fight this war. I have recently learned the identification of the Human Admiral that bested me above Artemis III." The Image of a Human with a Scar across his face was shown "Admiral Hackett in command of the Human 5th Fleet. He and his fleet were amongst the first to attack Magna, Admiral and his Fleet are veterans by now and not only them. Just like us, they were learning and investigating us they learned what works against us and what doesn't, the difference is that unlike them we are still stuck in the old Mentality we inherited from the Krogan Rebelion.
We are facing an organized enemy that can adapt and learn, they think and don't act on pure rage. Their soldiers are disciplined and fight well, they apply and tactics and strategy. From what we managed to gather on their species and saw for ourselves we have met our match in war. Their history just like ours is filled with war and I fear that fact. If our history is something to go by then its that if this war doesn't end soon, we wont be ready for the horrors that will be unleashed to end it."
"I have to agree with Victus on this. They are as good at war as we are, maybe in another time we could have become allies since our cultures are so similar. Alas we are here and are tasked with ending this war, Primarch, it is my recommendation to ignore the Treaty of Farixen Officially and produce as many ships as we can, we cant allow ourselves to try and hide the fact that we are breaking the treaty anymore. Too many important resources are dedicated to that endeavor" Said Admiral Kandros
"Councilor are you listening?" asked Fedorian
"I am Primarch, should I inform the council of this?"
"The Salarians probably already know, still officially acknowledging it to the rest of Citadel will have to be done. Tell them that in order to win the war and ensure the safety of Citadel Space the Hierarchy will no longer abide by the treaty." Said Fedorian
"The political ramifications will be-"
"Insignificant if we lose, Councilor, I gave you an order and you will carry it out. This meeting is over" Disconnected Fedorian alongside the other Turian Military Staff.
'I think Tevos will force me into retirement after this' thought the councilor
"In other news, the fighting on Cepter II continues as the Human forces offer stiff resistance against the advancing Turian Troops, our camera crew is following the fighting on the ground. How is the situation looking Sania?"
The view changed to an Asari wearing light armor painted white standing on a hill that overlooked a war torn city, smoke rising from many places with explosions, blue and red bolts flying across the sky. "The Turian assault began 3 hours ago following a night of probing attacks and a raid by the Turian Blackwatch, since then 2 City districts were liberated and the assault started slowing down due to fierce resistance"
"Did the Turian Military offer any date as to when the colony will be liberated?"
"As of yet no such news was conveyed to us by the Turian Military. The whole campaign is in jeopardy as we speak. 1 hour ago Human reinforcements arrived and have been battling the Turian fleet in orbit."
"I hope you haven't come under much danger while reporting on the planet, tell us how did it go for you so far?"
"The last month was filled with uncertainty, we came too close for comfort one day when the soldiers we were traveling with were ambushed by Human soldiers. Thankfully nothing happened to us and only a few Turian soldiers were lost" At that moment the camera turned to the sky where a smoking and burning Human capital ship entered the atmosphere and was crashing down. The Camera followed it as it fell on the city and crushed a large area. Then a impact was heard and the Camera together with the crew and the Turian Guards turned to where the sound came from.
Finding a smoking crater with an escape pod inside that was opened after a moment and a Human soldier alongside 2 Humans wearing blue jumpsuits crawled out off while 1 that had red blood flowing from his head was dragged out by his comrades. When they noticed the Turians and the Asari news team the Human raised his weapon and was in a standoff.
The camera picked up what he was saying but sadly no Translator was applied "(Run into the Forrest and hide, if I don't come in 10 minutes make your way to our lines)" With the 2 Humans running back while dragging the injured one the Soldier opened fire and the camera feed was cut off.
"…It looks like our Team is experiencing technical issues dear viewers. We will now move unto sports. The Gravball team of Zakera ward…"
So, i recently got back into Star Wars the Old Republic and my romance with Lana took priority over writing(Dont judge me, you know you would do the same in my place) still got to play the remaining 7 classes again so idk when next chapter will come out
