Butch's P.O.V.

A few days had already passed since those three joined. One word to sum up those days: Boring. Aside from the tiring and very tedious workload I had, the times I spent here back in my room were equally uneventful.

Since they were still new, the boss hadn't given the girls any missions. Just like what my brother said, we needed them to feel a sense of security before we tried to get some info out of them. Though, as much as I didn't mind the extra time I had with my roommate, she was as stubborn as a mule.

Seems like I underestimated her. Not only was she not talking to me, but she rarely came out of her room. Did I really set her off that much? Damn, never really met someone like her if I'm being honest. They usually cave in after a while. Although, I don't think she knows this but I love a good challenge.

Is she playing hard to get? I'm not sure yet. However, one thing is certain.

I was loving the chase.

Today, we were expecting a new joint mission with them. Their personal files were sent to us by Brick to go over. But of course, they didn't know that.

Scanning quickly over the first two files, my eyes fixated on the last file in the pile: Butterfly's. As I looked over all her details, I began to feel a bit uneasy. Her resemblance with her Puff counterpart was becoming very uncanny.

Curious, I opened the small cabinet in my nightstand. For years, we've been surveying the Puffs whenever our agents get sights of them. And recently, we've been catching them fighting criminals outside of the spotlight of the big districts in Tokyo.

We've been dealing with other criminal groups within and outside the city. From them, we get most of our resources. However, from the dark alleyways or even underground organizations, they were there. As the days go by they become smarter and faster in tracking these criminals.

Luckily for us, they haven't gotten close to figuring out where our base of operations were.

Personally, we didn't know if they caught on to us tracking them. But even if that was the case, we still weren't able to find out who they really were. All of our surveillance missions had been for naught.

But we still had their updated records, nevertheless.

As I took Buttercup's file in my left hand with Butterfly's file in my right, I kept looking back and forth at their pictures. They looked so similar that it became suspicious. I just hope that Brick's hunch was right about this.

Suddenly, I heard a soft creak. Quickly putting down the files, I looked up to meet a tantalizing pair of green eyes. Her face immediately turned sour as she saw me sitting on my bed.

"Ugh, you're still here?"

"Where else would I be?"

She then, unexpectedly, sat down on the couch. "Preferably somewhere where I can't see or hear you."

"Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me babe." I replied, smirking. "I can make your stay more enjoyable if you want me to."

"If you want to keep all your teeth intact I suggest keeping your hands away from me." She said, giving me her usual glare. Taking the remote, she turned on the tv and began switching through the channels.

"You know, you're pretty much stuck with me as long as you're here so pretending like I'm not here isn't going to work."

She took a quick glimpse of me before rolling her eyes. "I can at least try."

I chuckled. Getting up from my bed, I sat next to her on the couch. "I gotta admit, you're pretty stubborn."

"And you're pretty annoying."

"Says you."

She didn't answer after that. Instead, her eyes were focused on the news channel. I don't know if it was just me but she seemed a bit uncomfortable. Confused, I began to watch what was on the TV.

The reporter on the news was surrounded by dozens of people just outside the Tokyo Big Sight. "Good afternoon everyone, today, we are here live at the Tokyo Big Sight for Fashion World Tokyo!" He exclaimed. "Special guests include some of the top models, idols, and even the Powerpuff Girls! Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated event."

"Looks like those three are still living the high life." I commented, leaning back into the couch.

"Y-Yeah, seems like their schedule is truly packed." She replied as she cleared her throat. "So… why don't you guys attack them during times like these? I mean, they're going to be out in the open, so why don't we just strike them then and there?"

"Despite how they look they're a strong group." I replied, and that was the truth. No matter how much we tried to hide it, we knew they were powerful. Going after them knowing how much stronger they got was like having a death wish.

"Uhm, hello? You guys have an army, remember?"

"So do they."

She froze, visibly shocked at my statement. We weren't dense. For the months and years we've spent tracking those three, we came across several suspicious people that seem to be accompanying them all the time.

However, just like R.I.D., we suspect that they were also a strong secret organization. We have obtained limited information on them, just like how much they know about us. They blended into society well, but we just know that they also have powerful individuals in their arsenal.

But of course, I wasn't going to let her know what we already know.

"What makes you think that?"

"I don't think I'm obligated to tell you." I replied, winking. "Unless of course, you want to try and get the answer out of me?"

She rolled her eyes. "First of all, I'm not that desperate, and second, you are not going to get anything from me."

"We'll see about that, Butterfly."

Narrator's/Third Person's P.O.V.

"What do you mean they know about LUX?"

"All I know is they are aware that we are not alone in crime fighting." Butterfly said into her ICED earpiece.

The redhead on the other line sighed. "How much do they know?"

"How the hell should I know?" She replied. "I didn't expect Butch to be such a fucking dick about it."

"Maybe that's why the R.I.D. hasn't been attacking us recently, because they know that we have other people who are like us."

"Yeah well, at least now we know that they're not going to attack recklessly anytime soon."

"That reminds me, I actually received the final layout that Miyako made about the place. Well, at least the parts of the place that she was able to access. How are you coming along with getting information?"

Taking out her compact, Butterfly began scrolling through the notes that she had digitally written down. "Well, aside from the passwords needed per floor of agents, I also found out that those digital pads that we use to input the numbers actually take the fingerprints of those who use it. That way they are able to track the agents coming in and out of those floors. So, if we want to sneak in to each floor, we either need to find another way in or we have someone else input it in for us."

"Is this only for the agents' rooms?"

"As far as I know, yeah."

"Guess I'll add that to the list of things I have to do." Bloom said, groaning. "For some reason, they only gave me a plain laptop to work with. Let's just hope that it'll be enough when we start doing missions."

Putting down her compact, Butterfly leaned on the wall of her room. "Let's try to figure out what we can do now. From what I can see, it won't be long until they start to give us missions."

"God, I can't even imagine what they task us S-ranked agents to do." Bloom replied. "We haven't been able to catch that many R.I.D. members in the act, but now we're the ones who need to evade LUX."

"I just want this over with so that I'll be back in my warm cozy bed without sharing a room with a pervert."

"Trust me, I don't want this any more than you do."

Groaning, Butterfly fell back on her bed. "If we're lucky, we'll be out of here in less than a month if we can just shut down this whole organization."

"Hopefully." Bloom replied, her voice a bit glum. "Damn it, I just remembered that I still don't know how we're going to attend that event. Even during our supposed vacation we still have so many events planned."

"Do we have a back-up plan for that?"

Bloom rubbed her temples. "Let's be grateful that one of the designers is a LUX member and one of our close friends." She said. "I'll try to get the Professor to make up an excuse for us and that we'll make it up to them. I'll also have him see if we have any more schedules lined up so that we can be more prepared next time."

Butterfly groaned in frustration. "Let's just hope Miyako had forgotten about that." She replied. "If she does, she's going to be moping for weeks."

Bright seemed a bit down. She sat in her room, just in front of her vanity. Her eyes stared blankly as she barely ate the food that she had. Resting her head on her hand, she kept poking at the small piece of broccoli on her plate.

'And here I was hoping that I was going to meet many international fashion designers.' She thought to herself, sighing. 'I just want to go home…'

On the other side of the room, Boomer had already finished his lunch. He had his utensils tucked away neatly on the stand near the door for the butler to collect later. In the meantime, he lied down on the couch as he watched on the television with a bored expression on his face.

There was still no news on their joint mission. Since it wasn't going to be available for the other agents, they were going to get a direct request on their MDPs. As he waited, he started to feel more and more sleepy, but then he realized that it was already one o'clock in the afternoon.

They were supposed to pick up the plates at 1:15 pm, and Bright hasn't returned hers yet.

Recalling how she seemed a bit off a while ago, Boomer decided to go check up on her.

Getting up from the couch, he walked to her door and gave it a light knock. "Hey Bright, are you done?" He asked, but got no response.

Turning the door knob, he realized that it wasn't locked. "I'm coming in." He said as he slowly opened the door. Looking inside, he saw the backside of Bright's head as she was seemingly focused on something else. What Boomer also noticed was the full plate of food that she had on her vanity.

Walking towards her, she didn't seem to notice his presence.

"Hey, are you alright?" He asked, placing his hand on her shoulder, making her jump and let out a small shriek.

"Eek!" She exclaimed, quickly turning her head around to face him. "W-W-What are y-you doing here?!"

"I came to pick up your plate, but I've come across a problem." He replied, pointing at the mountain of food she had on her plate.

Bright's expression became down again. "Oh… sorry about that." She said, her voice soft and glum.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just a bit bummed I guess." She replied, picking up her chopsticks. "I'm really sorry, I'll try to finish it."

Boomer then held her wrist, stopping her. "Don't." He said. "I'll help you finish it, unless you want to choke trying to scarf down that amount of food."

"Are you sure? Aren't you full?" She asked, a bit nervous at his suggestion.

He shrugged, "I mean, you didn't order that much food, it should be fine. Let me just get some chopsticks."

As he left her room, Bright was a bit taken aback. How long was she spacing out? And was it weird that he was so nice to her? Was he really the kid who kept throwing his ear wax at people?

Bright was grateful, don't get her wrong, but it just felt weird for her.

After a short while he finally came back with his chopsticks and a small chair. Placing the chair next to her, he softly said, "Itadakimasu." before finally taking a piece of food into his mouth. He didn't say much after that, just silently kept eating.

Bright looked at him for a short while, before finally following suit. A few bites in and they were almost done with the whole plate.

As Bright finished another bite, she looked over towards Boomer. "I don't think I ever got to say thank you."

"Don't mention it." He replied nonchalantly, taking another bite.

She giggled softly. "You know, for what it's worth," She started, giving him a sweet smile. "You're not as bad of a guy as I thought."

He whipped his head to face her, his eyebrow raised. "Uhm, thanks, I guess?"

Laughing softly, they began eating again in silence. As the clock struck 1:15 pm, they had finally finished the whole plate.

"Gochisousama deshita. (Thank you for the meal)." They both said in unison. Getting up, Boomer quickly picked up the utensils and plate. As he was about to leave, a soft beeping sound came from both of their MDPs. Pressing the small button in the middle, a small panel opened with these words written in white bold letters: New mission request received, please proceed to the Mission Acceptance Room to review mission details.

As Boomer left the dishes near the door, he promptly called her over. "Let's go, you'll need someone to accompany you and show you the ropes of this place."

Promptly standing up, she began looking at herself in the mirror. As she began fixing herself, Boomer couldn't help but stare at her. The way she carried herself was so elegant and pristine, almost like she was a princess. Her golden locks framed her face like a perfect canvas.

He had to admit, she had to be one of the most beautiful girls he'd ever laid eyes on. But still, something about her seemed odd. He didn't know if it was the way she spoke or how she moved, but it all seemed so sophisticated yet so delicate.

Who knew that someone like her would seem like such an angel?

Walking towards him, her cheeks became a faint pink color as she caught him looking at her. Softly, she asked, "Shall we go?"

He nodded. As they exited the room and walked down the hallway, Boomer typed in the code. As the 7th-floor wall disappeared, they made their way to the elevator.

The trip down towards the ground floor was surprisingly quiet for both of them. He looked at Bright, her bright sapphire eyes staring blankly at the elevator door. Maybe she had something on her mind, perhaps?

'Better not bother her.' He thought to himself.

Finally arriving down, he led her towards the far left end of the enormous ground floor. Going through a few corridors, which Bright made sure to remember, they finally stopped in front of a room that was marked A.R.

Boomer stepped forward, the glass doors opening on their own. There inside the big room were a bunch of high-tech scanning machines. They were similar to what they used at LUX, but seeing them having the same kind of technology was both impressive and very concerning.

As they entered, Bright was shocked to see the dozens of other agents entering the place from all other entry points.

"Woah…" She said. "You guys seem pretty busy today."

He shrugged. "This is where everyone accepts their missions and this is where they are deployed. A lot of people come in and out of this place daily which might overwhelm rookies like you. But you'll get used to it eventually."

"To be honest I'm surprised I haven't been trampled on by the sheer number of people in here."

Boomer chuckled, giving her a reassuring look. "Don't worry, I'll walk you through this."

There he was again being effortlessly charming. Since when did he change? In the years that she didn't see him, she didn't expect him to be this kind of guy. In her mind, she always pictured him as that disgusting little runt she met five years ago.

Bright tried to keep her composure, but the small smile he gave her was enough to send little butterflies in her stomach.

Amongst the crowd of agents, Boomer led Bright to two free scanning tables. "Since you're an S-ranked agent, these two scanners will be free most of the time, since it's only exclusive to us." He explained, guiding her towards the one on the right before going to the other one.

Glancing towards her direction, he motioned her to follow what he was doing.

He stepped onto the small metal plate beside the machine, several holographic screens appearing before him. Placing his hand on the screen on his right, he looked straight ahead as another screen began to scan his eyes. He then placed his M.D.P. in front of his chest as another screen came forward and scanned his body from head to toe.

A green confirmation screen appeared. "Agent I.D.: 0098, Name: Boomer Jojo. Please proceed to section A2 to accept your mission."

After he was cleared, he went through the screens, his body no longer visible to her. Following what he did, another green confirmation screen appeared, but now it was in front of her. Displaying all her details along with her photo, the A.I. said, "Agent I.D.: 1513, Name: Bright. Please proceed to section A2 to accept your mission."

Taking this as her cue, she went through the screens with ease. Looking back, she saw that instead of seeing the entrance of the acceptance room and the scanning machines, all she was met with were dark walls. Turning around, she realized that she was in a completely different room from before.

The acceptance room was bright white, similar to how the ground floor looked. But here, everything was darker. The walls were a dark grey, the lights dim. Despite the change in scenery, the place still looked very polished.

There were many corridors and many doors embossed with the letter A and a different number right after. Other agents seemed to pop up out of nowhere, but they all walked orderly towards different rooms.

"Amazing, isn't it?" A sudden voice said, making her jump. She followed the voice, her eyes meeting a familiar pair of cobalt eyes. "This is where everyone is sorted into their own little room to discuss the details of the mission. There are thirty in total. Come on, I'll show you ours."

They then walked side-by-side as Bright kept looking around. This place was more complex than what they had imagined. If this place was able to conceal rooms like this, who knows what other secrets this organization has?

After going through one corridor on their left, they stopped in front of a room that had the alphanumeric characters A2 embossed on the door. A small scanner appeared beside it. Bringing up his M.D.P., a few beeps were heard before the door slid open.

There, already inside, were his brothers and their respective roommates.

"Finally you two came." Brick said with a blank expression. They were all sitting around a small table, a few computers and tv screens were laid and plastered on the walls. In front of the two chairs left for the both of them were two small tablets that the other four already had in their hands.

Sitting down, Bright cautiously took the small device in her hand.

With everyone settled, Brick pulled out a small remote, turning on the big TV screen that was in front of them. Two pictures of a man with long dark hair and vivid silver eyes flashed on the screen. He wore a black coat with a high collar, the frown on his face accentuating a small scar he had on his chin.

"This man is Kurogawa Choujirou, a 36-year-old man who's the leader of one of the organized crime groups here in the city." Brick stated, pulling up more details about the man on the screen. "Our job is to capture him."

Butterfly flinched at the mention of the name, just like the other two girls. She, in particular, was familiar with him because she was part of the team that was tasked to infiltrate his group. It was a long time ago, but she never forgot his face.

The mission was a failure, resulting in serious injuries for her and her teammates. One was even put into intensive care for months due to the sheer amount of trauma his body received. If they were going to capture him, then she knew what to expect.

He was, without a doubt, a very dangerous man.

"Wasn't there a deal that was made between us and them about three weeks ago?" Butch asked. "Did something go wrong?"

Brick nodded. "The deal was supposed to be sealed, but then it was made known that he had actually stolen some files from the R.I.D."

"What kind of documents did he steal?" Butterfly inquired. "Anything important?"

"Unfortunately, I don't know." Brick replied. "However, I was told that it was confidential. It must be retrieved before he leaves the city later this afternoon."

From what she can remember, Kurogawa was a very intelligent and strategic man. He, just like now, stole intel about LUX. However, unfortunately for them, they weren't able to capture him, and that's why LUX was very meticulous in doubling up their security.

How they were planning to catch him, however, was something that Butterfly was extremely curious about. If they, a squad of ten, weren't able to catch him, how much more for a team of six?

"Is there something about this guy that calls for a team like this?" Bloom asked as she finished swiping and reading through the data that was written on the tablet.

The red-headed leader nodded again. "He possesses a power under darkness manipulation, which is shadow control." Brick explained. "He can manipulate others' shadows and turn into a shadow himself. He had apparently sneaked through security yesterday morning. And because of that, he was able to steal some documents from our organization."

Boomer leaned back in his chair. "So what's the plan, Red?"

"We were able to find out this man's weak spot." He replied, a small smirk creeping up on his face. "He cannot turn into a shadow without sunlight. We will use that to our advantage. And apparently, this fucker isn't alone. He has his lackeys with him."

"Judging by how this team is set up, this guy has to be strong then." Butch grinned. "This is going to be fun."

Bright looked up from the gadget, tilting her head slightly to the side. "Do we have a location for this man?"

"I was able to get a hold of his database last night, though it was no easy task." He answered. "From that, I was able to pinpoint where Kurogawa had been hiding. I, along with some others, were also able to get the exact route he was going to take this afternoon."

He then walked over to one of the computers. After typing something in, a small hologram erupted from the middle of the table. There, it showed a wide forest with several small creeks and dirt paths.

"He is going to be at Crystal Creek at exactly 3:00 pm." He said, pointing at a distinct patch in the forest. "This is the last place that he will be heading to. When he leaves this place, he will immediately catch his flight and escape with the documents."

"We better get going then." Boomer said.

"What's the plan, though?" Bright asked.

Brick crossed his arms over his chest. "Firstly, when we reach Crystal Creek, we need to blend in. We'll have to prepare beforehand to make sure this mission will be successful, so be patient. Stay still and be quiet. Butch, don't get too excited and blow our cover like last time." Brick reprimanded as he pointed his finger at Butch.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Butch replied, scoffing at his brother.

"From what I was able to gather, Kurogawa's men will be walking ahead of him. And for that, Bright and Boomer, you guys are in charge of taking down those men once they are going to pass through your hiding place, which will be over here." He then pointed at a small area beside the biggest dirt path in the forest. Both Bright and Boomer nodded in agreement.

"When you're done, send us a signal so that Bloom and I can be able to do our part." He ordered. "We will make sure there will be no sunlight around Gao Liu. Once we've done that, we will send Butterfly and Butch a signal for their part."

Butterfly raised her eyebrow at him. "Which is?"

"I think it's pretty obvious, but you two are in charge of attacking and capturing Kurogawa." Brick answered. "Take him down as quickly as possible. If you need help, just call us. Once he's down, we'll take the documents and leave."

"Now that's what I'm talking about." Butterfly said as she cracked her knuckles in excitement. "You better not get in my way and slow me down, Butchie boy."

The green-eyed man smirked at her remark. "Wouldn't dream of it, babe."

"My watch now reads 2:35 pm. We will take a ten-minute flight to Crystal Creek." He said. "Remember, blend in, be patient and do your part well. Is that understood?" All of them nodded in response as they stood up from their chairs.

Brick pressed a few keys on the keyboard before saying, "Mission 15712: Agents complete, start mission."

"Mission 15712 Successfully Accepted: Agents Brick, Butch, Boomer, Bloom, Butterfly, and Bright are now officially active."

The walls then began to shift, revealing a big glass door. As the doors finally slid open, Brick looked over towards his team "Let's move!" And with that, they all flew out of the room.
