Narrative/Third Person's P.O.V.

It has already been one and a half weeks of going undercover for the girls, and now with all the initial information and data they have acquired over the past days, they are now ready to start their first mission. Bloom has been gathering and preparing everything they were going to need for tomorrow night. They were going to discuss the plan later, so for now she just has to make sure that the situation they will be in will be manageable and will not implicate them.

For that, she has been monitoring the villains she had been encountering closely, especially Brick. Bloom could tell that he was cautious when interacting with her. So she's making sure that when they do this mission, not only would Brick's suspicion fade, but also for her friends' roommates as well.

He had just arrived back at their room a few minutes ago. Taking this opportunity, she decided to try and lessen that tension between them as best as she can. Granted she might be put on the spot knowing how inquisitive he is, but she's ready for it.

As she opened the door, she greeted him casually. "Hey." She said, the sudden voice making him quickly sit up on bed. He looked straight at her as she leaned against the door while crossing her arms.

"How was your nap, Ice Princess?" He asked. A smirk crawled upon his face as she rolled her eyes at him. 'The nickname really does suit her,' He thought to himself.

"Seriously? Ice Princess?" She asked, giggling. "Is that all you can think of, Romeo?" She said with an evil smirk plastered on her face. Brick's face twisted into shock, whipping his head around to look at the book on his nightstand and then back to her.

With that constant monitoring, Bloom was also able to see what he had been doing over on the other side of the door. Thank the heavens she hadn't seen anything that she definitely didn't want to see, but it had been quite amusing for her to see her roommate read the famous romance novel over the past few days in his room. She was indeed stunned at this fact as soon as she found out.

Truth be told she didn't really expect him to be a fan of said genre.

"How do you know?" He asked again with a childish frown.

"How do the words X-ray vision sound, smartass?" She said with that smirk not leaving her face. He just growled at her comeback and took the book from his nightstand. Brick saw that there's no point in hiding it anyway since she already knows.

"Tell my brothers and I'll make your life a living hell." He threatened as he started flipping through the pages.

Bloom sat on the couch, looking at him with a teasing expression on her face. "Why keep it a secret? I'm sure those boys won't be poking fun at you at all."

"Haha, very funny."

"You have to admit, it's pretty funny."

"Which is why I didn't want anyone to know."

She chuckled. "William Shakespeare truly is a classic, I just didn't expect you to be interested in it."

"With a library filled with books that mostly range from 'How to Build a Giant Robot' to 'An Idiot's Guide to Being a Villain,' I think you can understand why I would read something like this." He explained, still not looking up from his book. "Plus, I wouldn't put past someone like you to be a fan of romance as well, seems fitting for you to keep a little heart necklace with you everywhere you go."

This time, it was Bloom's turn to look at the other with shock. She inspected the inside of her jacket, digging her hand into the hidden pocket she had. She felt the cold piece of metal against her fingertips, making her let out a sigh of relief.

"So how did you know?"

"I happened to see you fumbling with it one day while you were hanging out here." He said, "It was just a hunch that you had it with you all the time. Now that you just tried to check on it, it just confirms it."

She pouted, having been annoyed with herself for falling for his sneaky little bait. "I see you're pretty observant too."

"That aside, I'm pretty surprised that you're out of your room today."

"Am I not allowed to?"

"You know that's not what I meant." Brick said, chuckling. "Good to see you finally adjusting to this place."

She shrugged. "Well, it has been one hell of a week for us. We left everything behind and just came into this unfamiliar environment so it's understandable."

Brick peeked his head out from behind the book, before finally putting it down on his nightstand. "How did you get here?"

Suddenly taken aback by his question, Bloom was at a loss for words. Though she tried to mask this, she couldn't help but clear her throat at the sudden nervous feeling that she was feeling.

"Well, it seems like your boss forgot to mention this, but we practically traveled two days trying to find your headquarters." She started. "We were basically born on the edge of the country."

"On what part?" Her eyebrow twitched as he crossed his arms over his chest. 'Damn this guy,' She thought to herself.

"In a cottage in the middle of a dense forest, basically." She replied. "Any more questions?" He eyed her from head to toe, a hint of doubt evident in his gesture. As his eyes met hers, Bloom remained calm as she looked at him with a blank expression.

"I do have one particular question in mind, something you haven't told me yet."

"Which is?"

"As to why you guys hate the Powerpuff Girls." He said, making her lower her head.

She knew that the question was going to come one way or another. They were very vague with why they wanted to join the R.I.D. when they first came here, which may or may not be the reason why people were very suspicious of them. Nevertheless, Bloom was determined to deceive him.

"Oh." She said, letting out a short laugh. "It's nothing interesting."

"I'm not going to stop asking you until you tell me." He said with a serious tone. She looked at him, a bit worried at his persistence. Now that she was being put on the spot, she had to be coherent with all of the things she was going to say.

And it was then that realization hit her.

"They arrested our father." She said, making him cock his head to the side in confusion.

"Your father?"

"Yeah, our creator." She confirmed, a fake pained look plastered on her face. "We were born and raised in a poor environment, our father being the only one who took care of us. Since we couldn't afford to get into a school, all the things we know were taught to us by him. Being created as an experiment, we were also gifted with powers and unique abilities that normal humans didn't have."

Brick looked at her with a hint of empathy in his eyes. "Where is he now?"

"Since he didn't have a job, our father got money by stealing. But it still wasn't enough to feed four mouths at the table. So one day, he left us to join this organization. We weren't told of its whereabouts, but father kept in contact with us for the following years.

"It was fine at first since he really was a brilliant scientist. But one day, our contact with him went cold. Then suddenly, we found out that he was captured by the Powerpuff Girls when he was trying to rob a bank. And when he was sent to prison, my sisters and I were left alone in that cottage to fend for ourselves.

"When we grew up, we were forced to do the same thing that our father did, we became thieves. Using the powers that our father gave us, we robbed several mercenaries while they were exploring in the forest. We grew up in crime, which was the only thing we could do to survive."

"So that's how you knew about his place." Brick concluded. "But why join us?"

"As the days went by with our father in prison, our hatred started to grow." She stated. "We didn't have enough money to bail him out, but he told us where to go. He believed that with further training from LUX we could develop our powers and avenge him."

After she explained it, he looked her dead in the eye. He remained like that for a while, just staring at her without saying anything, making her raise her eyebrow in confusion. Was he not buying it?

"You guys came here, absolutely destroyed that test, made it into the high ranks and you're telling me you still need help with your powers?" He scoffed, getting up from his bed. "With your abilities, I fail to see how much more we can help you. Heck, you three could go now and just go face-to-face with those hags."

"So why don't you?"

Brick was taken aback by her question and the sudden sound of her standing up. Seeing his reaction, Bloom was amused to see him being caught off guard. It was her turn to ask him the pressing questions.

"I saw what you and your brothers could do back at Crystal Creek." She started, walking slowly towards him. "You could generate force fields, manipulate fire, and god knows what else your brothers can do. And what do those three have? A bunch of toys and they can fly? Yeah, seems like you're wasting your time too just sitting here and letting those girls do whatever the hell they want."

He glared at her as she now stood a few inches away from him. "The reason why we are here does not concern you, and therefore, is none of your fucking business."

"Then neither should ours." She snapped back with a sly smile on her face. "Glad we are in agreement, Romeo."

As Bloom turned around and walked away, she couldn't help but commit that conversation to memory. Although, ironically, the tension between them was far from being gone, she was now aware of one thing: There was more to this organization and its agents. And whatever is tying them to this place is the reason for their inactivity in the public scene.

Now, they just have to find out what that was.

It was the day after, and the cold night remained silent as most people inside headquarters were already sound asleep. As three ladies were starting to get ready for their mission, the hands on the clock moved as the stroke of twelve signaled the start of their dirty work.

'Kaoru,' A red-haired leader called out. 'Is everything ready?'

'Ready as ever.'

'Good, go get Miyako. I'll wait for you guys here.'

'Copy that.' With that said, a certain raven-haired girl cut off their connection to grab their teammate.

Bloom had already discussed the details of their plan. They would go down there when their roommates and most of the agents were asleep. Since they've seen security cameras in the place, they had to be strategic in how they were going to approach the room wherein they'll be utilizing their newfound powers.

With the knowledge of the device that could weaken their powers, they were forced to improvise something that wouldn't require them to actually take the documents for them to access their contents. Luckily for them, the Professor and some of their friends were able to create a program for their compacts that will act as a scanner. It will read all of the info on the file and save it on their compacts and send copies back to the lab.

It was efficient and was going to make this a whole lot easier for them.

As Bloom grabbed her belt, she quickly ran over the programs installed on it, making sure it was complete. After a minute, she heard a soft thud from behind her. She turned around and was met with two of her friends. As their eyes met, they all exchanged looks.

Walking over towards Butterfly, she firmly grabbed her left arm as Bright clung onto her right arm.

"Remember, go to the corner of the east hallway on the ground floor." Bloom instructed. "The cameras' coverage doesn't reach that way. Once we get there, we'll have to use Miyako's invisibility powers to sneak past passing agents until we're in the clear. We can't take too long using our powers knowing that that device is there in the file room, so we have to be quick to conserve our energy."

With an affirmative nod from both of them, Butterfly started to concentrate. In less than a second, they arrived at the dark hallway. No one roamed in it, with Bright remembering and telling the others beforehand that there were mostly just junk and storage rooms up ahead so it wasn't a busy hallway.

From where they hid, Bloom used her X-Ray vision to scan the grounds. There were a few agents walking around, but luckily there were none near the entrance of the file room. There were also a few security cameras, but with one little device they had, they could disable it in a jif.

So from the looks of it, they only needed to walk briskly across towards the opposite hallway and just make their way straight ahead.

"Seems like the supposed guards for that file room are on break, and there's a few security cameras in place near the door and on the landing."

"And that perverted idiot said that he doubled security." Butterfly commented, rolling her eyes.

"Then we just have to hurry up before they come back." Bright added.

"Come on, follow me." Bloom whispered, taking a hold of Bright's hand as Butterfly grabbed the other. Blending in with the surroundings, they sneakily walked towards the file room. Nobody seemed to have noticed their presence as agents came walking towards their direction which they had to quietly yet quickly avoid them.

As they now stood on the base of the stairs, Bloom quickly scanned the stairs, making sure there were no agents lying in wait. After seeing that the coast was clear, Bloom signaled Bright to take out her compact.

Following her orders, Bright took out her compact and pressed a few buttons on it. After a while, it released small electromagnetic pulses that specifically targeted the security cameras that were installed. With a final look at their surroundings, they started walking down.

With the lack of light, all three of them slowly went down the stairs; their heels lightly clicking as they went down. It was a long way down, but they were able to breathe a sigh of relief once they saw a small dim light in front of them glowing brighter as they went closer. Within seconds, they were finally in front of the entrance to the file room.

Taking her compact, Bloom opened it and pressed a few buttons. The screen turned a bright blue as she held it in front of the hand scanner. The screen then shot a few tiny beams of light, momentarily disabling the hand scanner.

It was a software that Ken had made for them years ago, same as the one that they used to disable the security cameras. It was able to temporarily bypass simple security systems like this, and would ultimately become two of the many very useful and often utilized items for the girls.

Bloom and Bright stepped aside as Butterfly brought out her katana. Sliding the thin, sturdy metal in between the gap, she wiggled her sword until the doors finally opened. They went in hurriedly, checking the stairs just in case someone had noticed them.

As the doors closed, they began looking over the huge room.

"There has to be a thousand files here." Bright said, looking up towards the tall file cabinets. "How do we know which ones to get first?"

"With this many documents they have to be labeled." Bloom answered, "Let's prioritize on getting the important ones, we can't risk being in here for too long. Just take what you think will be crucial for us.

"I'll try looking for high-ranking agent profiles. Kaoru, I need you to get me files on the most recent missions or ones that are classified as highly classified. For you, Miyako, I need you to find me files that document anything that happened about the building. Any alterations, experiments, inventions, heck, if you could find files that contained any information on the complete construction of the building, even better."

Both of them nodded in response. And just like that, they began flying around to find the files they needed.

Bloom went around, and finally found a cabinet that had the drawers labeled as "Monthly Scans" with different dates. Finding the most recent ones which were labeled "Monthly Scans: April 20XX" and "Monthly Scans: March 20XX," Bloom quickly began looking through the files and scanning them.

On the opposite end, Butterfly had been scanning documents left and right. Considering the number of agents she saw passing through the acceptance room during the time they had the mission at Crystal Creek, she wasn't surprised. Although, it wasn't helping the headache she was feeling as she rushed to scan all the documents.

Bright, on the other hand, encountered a bit of trouble in finding the right files. After looking through the dozens of file cabinets, she finally found one that had a bunch of locked drawers, all appropriately labeled as "Tests," "Researches," and the like. She grabbed a bobby pin from her hair and started to pick the lock with it. As she felt it unlock, she opened the drawer, quickly grabbing and scanning all of the files in it.

A few minutes went by as they were all starting to wrap up what they did. As they all finished putting back all the files in the right place, all of them started to head back towards the door.

"That was easier than I expected." Butterfly said.

"Too easy." Bloom said, remaining still as she had picked up something. "Do you guys hear that?"

Both Bright and Butterfly stood still, trying to catch what Bloom was hearing. It was then that they started to hear footsteps coming closer. Faint voices can also be heard as the footsteps started to get louder. Panicking, Bright looked over towards Bloom and Butterfly.

"What now?" She whispered. Butterfly and Bloom looked at each other, not knowing what to do next. "Can't you teleport us?" She asked, looking over at Butterfly.

"Uhm, hello? Have you forgotten something, princess?" Butterfly retorted, "Have you forgotten that stupid device that's messing up with our powers?"

"Let's just hope the hand scanner is starting to work now or else we're done for. For now, hide!" Bloom commanded as they all started to look for a concealed area in the room. As Bloom spotted a pile of old boxes, she tugged on their sleeves and pulled them behind the boxes.

"Stay still and don't make a sound." She ordered, making both of them nod.

The door opened, revealing two men dressed up in leather jackets and dark pants. They were tall and they both had a few guns on their belts. Looking around, both men started to walk around.

"What did the boss want?" One man asked.

"It was something about that important project or something. Just look for it." His partner replied.

With the two men conversing, Butterfly started to look for a way to escape. Seeing as the two men had already gone deep in the file room and that the door was still open, Butterfly started to move slowly, nudging her two friends to follow her. Bloom looked at Bright, then to Butterfly, slowly standing up as she followed Butterfly. Bright was quick to respond as she trailed both of her friends.

With light and quick footsteps, they made it out without being caught. And without warning, all three of them started to run up the dark staircase. They carefully tried to run without creating too much noise. However, it caused Bright to trip.

"Kya!" She exclaimed, causing Bloom and Butterfly to stop. Looking back, Bloom could hear the men conversing. 'Oh no.'

"Did you hear that?" The man inside the file room asked his partner.

"There must be something out there," The other said. "Let's investigate it quickly, or else Sir Jojo will kick our asses tomorrow morning." And just like that, both men went outside to investigate the sudden noise that they heard.

As the sound of footsteps came closer, Bloom began to panic. "Bright, grab my hand." She said, trying to find Bright's arm. As she felt her grip on her hand, she tugged onto Butterfly's sleeve. As they continued to stealthily run up the stairs, they could already feel their powers slowly coming back to them.

Without missing a beat, they all began to fly out of there.

"Lower your head." Bloom whispered as they nearly made it back on top. "Kaoru, gather up all your energy so that once we get to the entrance, teleport us back to my room."

As they neared the entrance, more footsteps could be heard trailing behind them. They all began to feel nervous; their hearts beating fast. Their powers haven't come back completely, yet they tried to speed through, giving all they've got.

'Just a little more.' The entrance was close. So close. And as they inched closer, Bloom gave Butterfly the signal "Kaoru, now!" She said in a soft voice.

Butterfly closed her eyes shut, quickly picturing Bloom's room. Mustering up all the energy she had, she concentrated hard. As the footsteps came closer, they were suddenly teleported back to Bloom's room.

As they set foot in the room, all three of them went down on their knees, exhausted. Their pants and sighs filled the room. Having feeling like they've exerted the powers even if they only flew, they could already feel the fatigue in their muscles.

"I'm not going back there." Butterfly said. "That place is just fucked up."

"It felt like running a marathon." Bright added.

"It's a clever tactic, I'll give them that." Bloom replied. "Even as we ran farther away from where that device may be, that drained feeling made us exert more than we needed to. If it were someone else who wasn't as able, they would easily be caught by a bunch of guards running after them."

"I'm just glad we're back." Bright said, taking in deep breaths.

Bloom smirked. "And, we've got our files." She said, "Normally we'd have it transferred to my laptop, but we'll have to make do with having the data on our compacts. I'm not yet confident with storing what we know on a device that I don't fully trust yet."

"These damn files better be worth it." Butterfly said, "I'm itching to give Butch and the others a piece of my mind ever since we got here."

"Then let's briefly review the files now." Bloom replied. "I'll pull up their general files, but the more detailed information about them I'll have the Professor look over and give us the gist."

She then took out her compact and opened it. As she opened the files, she looked over each one of them. Bright and Butterfly did the same with the info they got. Bloom first opened the S-ranked agents' files, going through all the information.

First, she opened Sedusa's file.

"Name, Sedusa. Her age is 23 and is an active S-ranked agent."

"And now it seems that Sakurako-san can't go back to her human form." Bright commented, a sad look on her face.

"Her most recent injury being a broken rib and her most recent illness being a severe fever." Bloom continued. "Her health is good, power is stable, and has a vision of 40/40. Over the past month, she has been assigned with twenty missions and has completed a total of eighteen of them."

"Does it say what the missions were?" Bright asked.

"Unfortunately, no." Bloom replied.

"Let's just wish that I've got those files on me." Butterfly said, looking through her own compact. "Some of the missions were pages long. I hope the Professor will sum this up for us too because I do not want to stay up reading all of these."

"We'll go over the villains that we've faced before." Bloom stated, "Luckily not all of them are in the S-Ranks, but the others are still A-Rank agents."

Butterfly chuckled. "As much as I hate living with Butch, I'm fucking grateful that we're not on the same floor as Princess."

"But we are on the same floor as Mojo so let's take a look at his profile while we're at it."

"With him being one of the most frequent people we've fought, it's a bit concerning that he's one of the highest ranking agents here." Bright commented. "Just how much worse has he become?"

"We'll just see." Bloom answered, pulling up his general profile. "Agent's name, Mojo Jojo. He is an active S-ranked primate with an abnormally massive brain. He was assigned with fifteen missions and has completed all fifteen of them. His health remains good, his power is stable, and his vision is perfect."

"I guess that big brain of his had finally started working properly." Butterfly said, "Thought it was only for display."

"Considering that there are only a few S-Rank agents, I took all of their profiles. They're all heads of the departments here in the R.I.D., that's why Butch is the head of the Training and Security Division. Which brings me to another point, the other villains we've encountered that were also S-Ranked are Ace and Fuzzy. The rest are new faces."

"How about the others? Like the other members of the Gangreen Gang or the Amoeba Boys?"

"All the other previous agents we've encountered that weren't in the S-Ranks are all A-Rank agents. But with the A-Rank agents and the B-Rank agents' profiles, I just picked out a few who stood out, whether by the powers they had or the amount of missions they've done."

"Speaking of A-Ranked and B-Ranked agents, I think I've found something interesting, come look at this." Bright said, showing the other two her compact. "I've found a few files on some completed researches back there. And they listed all of those who were involved in that study."

As Bright showed them the list on the screen of her compact, Bloom came to realize something. "Wait a minute," She interrupted. "Most of those agents are primarily B-Ranked agents, with the exception of both Ace and Lil' Arturo, the head and second-in-command of the research department."

"The ranking system might be a lot simpler than we thought when we take into account what each agent of that rank does." Butterfly concluded. "It can not just be based on how powerful a person is. Remember Mr. Jones? He said he was placed in the B-Ranks just because of his knowledge in science."

"If we can learn how else these people are grouped aside from fighting ability, I think we can see and figure out just how complex this place operates and how we're going to take down each and every person here." Bloom added, looking over at the files she had.

"But that's not all," Bright said, showing more files she had. In a folder labeled "Inventions," she opened it to reveal a bunch of pictures of different kinds of robots. Some of which are familiar to the girls.

"Wait, what?" Bloom asked, bewildered. "You don't mean..."

"Well, I'm sure it won't take three guesses to figure out who made these." Butterfly commented, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I was only able to get a few of these since most of the cabinets there were locked and we were supposed to only be there for a few minutes." Bright explained. "Majority of these are researches they've done. And there were a lot."

"If the R.I.D. has these kinds of machinery in their arsenal, then there has to be more that they're hiding." Bloom said. "With agents coming in and out of that room just like a while ago, it's a bit risky for us to go back there again on limited time."

Butterfly let out a sigh. "They better not be planning on using those robots soon."

"How can we prevent that from happening?" Bright asked.

"I'm not sure as of now," Bloom said. "However, we need to be cautious in stopping any agent in this organization from doing anything that might harm both the city and the people in it. That's going to be difficult since we're currently working undercover. And since very few people back at LUX really know what we're doing, it won't be long until they'll start questioning where we are.

"I'll come up with something we can do in the meantime to make sure no one other than the people who know the truth would become suspicious of our whereabouts. That and we also need to lie low a bit here; I'm sure it's not only Brick who's been questioning our presence here. But that doesn't mean we'll need to be dormant for long.

"With these files, we'll have the Professor make us a detailed summary of everything that is of use to us. For the next few days, we'll have to start diminishing this place's numbers. And we'll do so quietly. It might be hard, but we need to."

Bright and Butterfly looked at each other, before nodding in response to their leader. "We'll try to get as much more information as we can." Bright reassured her.

Bloom closed her compact, putting it back in its right place. "Then that'll be enough for today." She said. "You guys should get some sleep, it's been a very long day for all of us."

"No shit. We've been here for what, less than ten days and we've defeated three dragons, sent on a mission to get this creepy old guy, snuck out of our rooms to get these files while walking through that god-awful room, and I even had to kiss that green eye—"

"Wait, wait, wait, you did what now?" Bright asked. "Is there something between you and Butch that we don't know of?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows in a teasing manner.

Realizing what she just said, Butterfly waved her hands in front of her face in embarrassment. "I-It was j-just... Uhm.."

"Did you really seduce him?" Bloom asked, a bit amused. "Man, didn't know you had it in you, Kaoru."

"Hey! This is you guys' fault, you know!"

"Oh, we are fully aware." Bloom replied. "But I have to admit, you and Butch kissing is the probably the most courageous yet most embarrassing thing you've ever done."

"I'm definitely not proud of it." Butterfly said, her left eye twitching as she did.

As both Bright and Bloom giggling, Butterfly couldn't help but glare at them. Sighing, she scratched her head.

"Can I go back now?"

"Yeah, sure. You better not keep Butchie Boy waiting." Bloom teased, making Butterfly more irritated.

With an annoyed look, she grabbed Bright's arm as she was still giggling. "Let's go."

And with that, they left, leaving an amused redhead as she smiled.

Author's Note: Mission complete! Man, I really find it hard to write Bloom and Brick conversations because they're both such smartasses I can't come up with that much arguments, debates, and interrogations. But they're still my favorite couple, haha, how about you guys?

As you now reach the end of the chapter, please feel free to favorite, follow, and leave a review!

Thank you guys so much and have a great day!
