Chapter 1: Afternoon Together

Maura POV:

12:04 PM

Buzz Buzz. Hey are we still on for movie night tonight? -J

Of course! I was wondering if you were busy I'm hungry and I was going to grab some lunch. -M

Buzz Buzz Yes want me to swing by and grab you, Dirty Robber okay? -M

Sounds great! Meet you in five minutes. -M

I shut down and closed my computer. I grab my Chanel bag and tell the criminalists and lab techs that I was going to take my lunch. I press the up button to the elevator and get inside when the doors open. I get off 1 floor up in the lobby. Waiting for Jane, I decided to stop in to the Division One Cafe and say hello to Angela.

"Good Afternoon Maura, how are you dear?"

"I am doing well Angela. Jane and I are heading to the Dirty Robber for lunch. I am having some guests over tonight so remember the deal we had about the light." I wink at her.

"Oh yes I understand. Hey look here's Janie now you girls have a good lunch.

I turn around and I feel that familiar release of oxytocin and vaginal contractions. She is gorgeous.

"Hey Maura, ready for lunch?"

"Yes Jane I am."

I walk out of the Cafe and outside with Jane. I smile as I feel her one of her strong hands on the small of my back. When we get to the sidewalk she places herself between myself and the street just like always.

"I was thinking about our movie night tonight Jane."

"Oh yea which one of your documentaries are we watching tonight?"

"I was thinking maybe instead of a documentary, we could watch a tv show?" I said just above a whisper.

"Okay do you have a TV show in mind?" She says with a chuckle.

"Remember when you were trying to educate me on the different superheroes and villains?"

"Yes and I told you all about the Marvel and DC Universes and how I believe the DC is the superior Universe because Batman is my favorite and Wonder Woman is amazing too."

"Exactly so I know that they're is the original TV shows for Batman and Wonder Woman. I was doing some research last night on both of those Superheroes."

"You did research on Superheroes Maura?"

"Yes Jane I did. I knew you liked both of them a lot and you're always a good sport for doing things I like so I thought we could do this together. Who knows maybe I could also become a big Batman follower."

"Fan Maura for superheroes they're called fans." She says with a laugh.

"Oh okay, good to know."

"Alright here we are, the Dirty Robber."

"I think I will join you today with a Tempe Bacon Burger."

"Alright and an order of fries right?"

"Maybe I will just share yours."

"No because the last time you shared mine you basically ate them all Maura so we can get two orders and I will finish whatever you don't want."

"Okay that is a fair deal that I would be willing to agree to."

"Awesome! Okay so which TV show are we watching tonight . Batman or Wonder Woman?"

"Can we watch Wonder Woman?" I ask sweetly.

"Of course we can." She smiles at me.

Our food comes in shortly and as we eat I start noticing Jane differently while she is concentrating. I watch as her masseter muscle constricts. I can always tell when she is in deep thought because her levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscle is tightened.

I notice her giving me a smile, "Everything okay Maura." She says in her raspy voice and I take a sharp intake of breath.

"Of course Jane." She laughs.

She placed her hand on the table and I reached over to place my hand over hers. Her eyes flew up to meet mine but I could see the effect it had on her. Dilated pupils and her breath start to become ragged.

She wants me. Just like I want her. "Are you alright Jane?"

"Mmm...uh yea I am fine. I am amazing."

"Okay well I am finished but you can take your time to finish."

"Thanks Maura."

After we finish eating and pay the bill, she guides me out to the car once again with her hand resting on the small of my back. This time it is hard to keep my reaction to myself because of my discovery. Feeling her strong arms I can't help but think about her holding me.

She opens the car door for me. The drive back was short and sweet. With minimal talk but no awkward silence. We walk back into BPD together and as we wait for the elevator I turn towards Jane and tell her, "When should I expect you?"

"If it continues to be slow no later than a few minutes after 5pm?"

"Alright meet you at my house?"

"Sounds great, I will grab dinner on my way over. What would you like for dinner Maura?"

"I am up for Thai or Pizza."

"Okay you got it. See you then."

"Okay bye Jane."

I went down to the morgue and sat down at my desk to complete my paperwork. I noticed as time went on I was having a difficult time focusing on my work and my conscious thoughts kept me thinking of Jane.

Brinnngggg brinnnngggg "Dr. Isles."

"Hey Maura its pretty slow up here. Korsak told me I could take the rest of the day and he'll call if needed. So I was wondering if you wanted to come with me, maybe we could do something before movie night."

"That shouldn't be a problem but let me just check with the lab techs. I can meet you upstairs in 10 minutes."

"Okay see you then Maura."

I check in with Senior Criminalist Chang, and the other lab techs. They all have everything in order. I go back into my office to grab everything I brought in with me today. Not a minute after I said that I headed up to the main lobby.

She was already waiting for me. I get off the elevator and smile at her. "Hey Jane."

"Hey Maura I was thinking maybe we could take one car and I'll stop by my apartment and we can do a movie night and sleepover."

"That sounds wonderful Jane. We can take my car if you'd like."

"Awesome, but can I drive please?"

"I suppose so." I chuckle as I hand her the keys.

"Can we run by my apartment first and grab my things? Then we can do whatever for the rest of the day."

"We can do that. And by whatever does that mean you will go shopping with me?"

"Ugh shopping, as long as it doesn't take too long."

"Okay so I promise two stores maximum."

"Okay that sounds good to me."

"Alright ready to go Jane."

"Yes Maura I am ready."

We walk out of BPD and head towards where my car is parked. Once we get into the car, I turn on the radio and Reba filled the car. As we head towards her apartment, I start to think about the weekend.

"Jane I was wondering if you would like to spend the weekend. I know that you're spending the night but we are also off this entire weekend unless an incident occurs so I was wondering if you would like to spend the weekend."

"Yea I think that sounds nice. Alright do you want to come up or do you want to wait in the car?"

"I'll come up with you."

"Okay." We each get out of the car and head up to Jane's apartment. We entire the apartment and I sit down at one of the stools as she heads into her bedroom. I take the time to notice everything about her apartment.

I can see her personality with everything that is on display here in her apartment. I love how she is outwardly so simple but for people other than her family and I know there is so much more to the Brood and Strong Detective Jane Rizzoli.

I hear her footsteps approaching and when she comes into sight she had her overnight bag packed and was smiling at me. I smile back and ask her, "Are you allset here?"

"Yes Maura, we are ready to go. Do you want to head shopping now or swing by your house first?"

"If you're up for the stores now we can go now. And then on the way home we can grab dinner so we can set up for our movie night."

"That's fine, what boutique are we going to frequent today ."

"Flair Boston, they sent me an email regarding a new collection."

"Well then off to Flair Boston we go."

"Thank you Jane."

She locks her apartment and we head back down to the car. It wasn't a far drive but a drive sure enough. I found it amusing that she was singing along but was purposely messing up the lyrics.

"Jane! Those aren't the lyrics."

"I know but it's making you laugh."

"It is."

We get out of the car and enter Flair Boston, my eyes immediately go to a rolling rack of dresses and formal wear that I haven't seen before.

"Ooh that is what I am here for. Look around Jane if you like anything, show it to me."

"Maura these aren't really my types of clothes but I don't mind looking around with you,"

"Fair enough Jane."

After about 30 minutes and a selection of 3 dresses I can see her demeanor change. She really does hate shopping.

"Are you almost done Maura?"

"Patience Jane I will be done in a few minutes."

"Fine." I hear her grumble. I know she is a very impatient person. One of these days I'm going to teach her to be patient.

I must have had a strange look on my face because she gives me a quizzical stare, "You okay Maur?"

"Yes Jane. I am ready to check out."

"Are we still going to the other shop or can we just go home?" Home… it means so much to me that she sees my house as her home too. Maybe this will be easier than I thought.

After I check out we get back in the car and start driving home. She turns to me while driving and asks, "Hey did you decide on what you wanted for dinner? At lunch it was between pizza and thai."

"I think Pizza sounds like a good idea because we can have it delivered."

"Great plan. Alright then home we go ."

"Why thank you, Detective?" I respond back with a sultry tone as I look at her. I hear her clear her throat and tighten her grip on the steering wheel. Yes, this will be much easier than I thought.
