Narrator/Third Person's P.O.V.

It was the next morning, and Bloom had begun sorting out everything she could find in files she got from the R.I.D.'s database. This included some files on supposed researches and experiments that might help them understand the motive behind all of this. This also included some articles and pages on the internet regarding the stones mentioned in the book.

As she continued sorting out the information, she suddenly remembered something. She opened one of the drawers of her vanity, pulling out the same folder that Brick had given her a few days ago. Opening it, she began reading through Professor Jones's file.

Agent: Akira Senjou Jones, it read, the letters painted in bright red bold letters. Opening it, she scanned all the documents it held in it.

"His personal information, his medical records and…" Just then, something caught her eye. It was a bright yellow document, a birth certificate.

But it wasn't his.

It was a birth certificate of someone named Keishiro Senjou, a boy born through a science experiment. He looked like a preteen in the photo attached to the document, having bright white hair, gray eyes, and fair skin. Strangely, only Mr. Jones's name was listed as the "biological" father.

This birth certificate wasn't registered under any hospital, instead it was registered under this agency. It didn't contain any other details about this boy's personal information, other than his name, parent, date of birth, and an agent number…

'They took my son from me… I didn't know where they had put him…' She recalled those words, realizing what this meant. 'His son… is an agent here. It can't be… he became one of them!'

I hid the documents in the drawer of my vanity as I began typing on my computer M.D.P. "Information on Agent 0340." I said as the watch began to decode what I had just said.

"Access Denied: Agent Information labeled as Classified."

"Damn it." I cursed as I grabbed the laptop that I hid under my bed. As the screen began to load, I began clicking the files that I kept from last time. I scanned through the documents, but there was no file containing any information on Mr. Jones's son.

I tried encoding the key codes once again, hoping to access the database somehow. Typing in the agent number, I waited as my laptop began to load.

'You have entered an invalid agent number. (Error: Agent may be deceased or terminated)'

Deceased.

'This… can't be true. He can't be dead…'

She closed her laptop, burying her face in her hands. Mr. Jones's last words echoed in her mind, haunting her. 'Please save him… I beg of you… Save my son…'

They were too late.

She couldn't help but cry, the tears staining her delicate face. After all this time, Mr. Jones never wanted revenge. He just wanted his son back.

She felt so disappointed in herself, sobbing quietly. 'We were supposed to be the heroes, right? The good ones? The ones who save those in need? So why… Why couldn't we save him?"

"Those brats have attacked again, huh." A dark figure said, staring at the mahogany window. "Although, it seems as though we do not need to go looking for what we need anymore."

A tall man with dark green skin nodded in agreement, "With the contraption finished, we now only need the last two components needed. We, in the Research Division, have begun going through different experiments and processes with the blood supply we have. The Training and Security Division have also begun scouting more members."

"Good, I appreciate all of your initiative in spite of these troubling times." The figure replied, "I have the serpent and his men finding the last pieces. Still, I don't want to risk losing any more agents. I expect the relocation will be done within this day."

"Understood, we'll continue to update Your Highness on our progress. I will now take my leave." With that, he bowed down, exiting the room quietly.

The figure made its way towards the desk behind them. Picking up the antique dial phone and rotating its dial, they began to wait. After a while, a voice could be heard on the other end.

"How is your progress?" The figure asked, leaning back in their chair.

"Acquired three more pieces." The deep, masculine voice answered. "We are off to the next location as we speak."

"Already pinpointed it so soon?"

"The serpent has been working day and night to make sure we've found all the pieces before the end of the month."

The figure smirked, "Tell the serpent to prepare. We have waited years for this opportunity, and now it's finally here."

"Understood, Your Highness."

Putting the phone down, the dark figure smiled sinisterly under the shadows. "It wouldn't be long now until you've finally got what's coming to you." A small chuckle was heard from them. But it didn't take long until that chuckle turned into a full-blown maniacal laugh.

Bright began to stir in her sleep, not taking long until she finally opened her sapphire blue eyes. She squinted a bit as the sunlight beamed right at her face. Stretching her arms as the covers fell from her figure.

Finally taking in her surroundings, she realized that she wasn't in her room. Looking around, she saw that she was wearing the same clothes as yesterday, and that she was in Boomer's bed. 'Oh god, I slept the whole day?!'

Frantically getting out, Bright spotted Boomer on the couch, his arm draped over his eyes. She looked down at her M.D.P. and saw that it was already 9:30 AM. Shocked, Bright began nudging him, "Hey, sleepyhead, come on it's time to wake up."

He shifted in his sleep, groaning. Bright smiled. His innocent sleeping face made her stare at him lovingly.

"You're even cuter than you already are," She said, kissing his cheek.

Just then, Boomer began to stir a bit more in his sleep. As he began stretching his body, he slowly opened his eyes.

"Look who's finally awake." He said, yawning. "You sleep well?"

"You could've just woken me up, you know, you didn't have to sleep on the couch."

"How could I possibly wake up such a beautiful face?" He asked, caressing her cheek. "You looked so cute sleeping. That and you looked so comfortable sleeping in that bed."

Bright giggled, holding his hand. "We've missed breakfast."

"Don't worry, I'll have them delivered." He answered as he rose up from the couch. "What'd you want to eat?"

"Anything's fine, I'm feeling a bit hungry since I even missed dinner last night."

"Then I'll make sure you're satisfied," He then gave her a light kiss on the forehead before going to get his M.D.P. on his desk

Bright now sat on the couch, looking up at him. "Boomer, could I ask you something?"

"Shoot."

"What are we?" She asked, caressing her neck nervously. "Where do we go from here?"

Boomer turned to face her, "Well, we don't need to rush this if you're not comfortable with it." He answered as he went back and sat beside her. "I want us to hang out, get to know each other more, and have fun. I wouldn't mind it if we're actually in a relationship now. But again, that is only if you want to."

Bright rested her head on his shoulder, holding his hand in hers. "I wouldn't mind putting a label on it now." She answered. 'Considering we only have little time left.'

"So we're officially a couple now, huh?"

"I guess we are." Bright replied, sighing. "Could you… promise me something?"

"Anything."

"Promise me that no matter what happens, you will always tell me how you really feel." Bright said, looking up to lock eyes with him. "Even after the days pass, even after things begin to change, I want you to be honest about how you really feel about me, even if it's going to hurt me. If after today, someday, you still like me, I want to know. Or if someday, you're going to hate me, I still want to know."

Boomer paused for a minute, a bit taken aback by her request as he could see and hear the pain in her eyes and voice.

He held her face in his hands, smiling. "I promise." He said, bringing her closer as their foreheads touched, "Even if there's a lot of fights and misunderstandings, even if things start to change, even if everything seems lost and confusing, I'll keep coming back to remind you how much I love you."

Boomer then held her hands, "Just promise me that you'll always be here beside me, with me."

Tears began to well in her eyes, but she fought so hard to pull herself together as she answered, "I promise." She then smiled sweetly at him, caressing his face as she finally kissed him.

Bright's heart sank as she did. It was selfish of her to ask him that and lie knowing very well that she couldn't keep it. She wishes for just something, anything that would just stop time right now and let her live in the moment. To let her love him with no bounds.

But she knows that once her time ends, his love will too. No amount of sorries and tears was going to change that. She just wishes that when he learns the truth about her, he knows that she wasn't lying about her feelings and that everything else she said to him was real.

Even if he hates her in the end.

It was already the afternoon, and Bright was back in her room as Boomer was on a mission. Opening her compact, she contacted both of her friends. Earlier that day, just after she had eaten breakfast and Boomer left, she was instructed to research the Diamond of the Samurai Warrior.

For the most part, it was really hard. Since it's a legend, there are many different versions of it online. But with the legend she was assigned to being a little more well-known, she was able to gather more information and data. Now, they had to report what they found with the others.

"You guys get anything good?" Butterfly asked on the other end.

"Yup, I've summarized everything I found so far." Bright answered. "I was surprised to see that there were so many articles on this story, they truly believe it's real."

"In a world where people with powers live in secret, anything could be true." Bloom commented, albeit a little dejected. "We'll start with you first, Miyako."

Nodding, Miyako then took out some scraps of paper that she scribbled on. "The diamond was enchanted, bestowing power to anyone who possessed it." Bright started. "Even if it was split in half, it was still able to grant power, although it was a bit weaker. It was able to give the person strength, speed, and many more powers.

"Not wanting the gem to cause any more conflict, the sons of the Samurai Warriors broke it into many tiny pieces before casting them away in the riverbanks. However, one article said that they didn't just throw it randomly, rather, the sons planted the pieces in places disclosed to only their family, where only the true heirs will be able to acquire it and assemble it once more.

"To add to that security, the brothers also placed a seal on each individual piece. It would render the gem useless unless the blood of someone from the family were to be dripped onto it."

"Huh, pretty interesting." Butterfly commented, "With the diamond being broken into a bunch of tiny pieces, it could explain why the R.I.D. was inactive, maybe they were trying to find them? That would also explain why they've been conducting these experiments."

"It is a possibility," Bloom said, getting into a thinking position. "But let us first hear all of the reports. Care to tell us yours?"

"Sure thing," She replied, pulling up her own notes. "It's a fairly uncommon legend, but I was able to dig a bit more than what the Professor was able to get. The resurrection stone was made from Osiris's heart, the god of the underworld who also symbolized death and resurrection. It is said to bring back souls from the Duat or the realm of the dead if one were to pray to Osiris and Anubis.

"When people began to misuse it, Anubis became angry and punished those who had wronged him and Osiris. In a fit of rage, Anubis placed a curse on it and kept it hidden. No one to this day knows where it was located.

"The souls who were resurrected were indebted to the summoner, and thus people easily manipulated them. And apparently, the people who misused it wished to not only control the people they resurrected, but to also acquire Osiris's powers which were said to still be contained within the stone."

Taking a breather, Butterfly then showed something on her screen to the girls. "I've also found this. It's a translation of a set of hieroglyphs which tells part of the story of this stone. However, because it's a very uncommon legend, I think the passage I got is incomplete. Still, I think you guys still need to see this."

The screen then displayed the passage, reading:

Heart of the worthy

Knows truth, featherlight

Survives through misery

Dutiful and right

Grows in love and harmony

As pure as white

A sinful heart, heavy

Consumes the body

Leads injustice to rise

Fills hearts with lies

Judged and tested

Ammit devours the wicked

Heart and soul

Judged by Ma'at

Drives away evil

Tips the scales

Escapes the realm

Joins the living

"Very um… cryptic." Bright commented, trying to understand what she just read. "Could someone explain?"

"My head began to hurt reading it." Butterfly said, "I just found it a while ago so I wasn't able to decode it."

"I think I can." Bloom replied, seemingly thinking. "I think I've heard or at least read about something like this. From what I can remember, Anubis used to judge souls by weighing their hearts against the feather of Ma'at, which was the egyptians concept of truth.

"If it weighed the same as the feather, the soul would be able to enter Osiris's kingdom. If it was heavier, the heart and soul would be devoured by Ammit. If that happens, the person would, in a way, cease to exist and would not share in eternal life."

"I-I think I shouldn't have asked…" Bright said, laughing nervously.

"So the last few statements…" Butterfly replied, "It talks about a soul who was judged and sent to the afterlife, but is able to leave and live again."

"I think so, yes."

"That doesn't explain why the R.I.D. would do those blood experiments though," Bright said, leaning her head on the palm of her hand. "But you did say that the passage was incomplete. Is there a chance that it could somehow be related to blood?"

"It might, but I don't know for sure. I'll try to keep looking."

Bloom nodded, "Everything is possible right now. Which is why I'll proceed with mine now." She said, clearing her throat. "The ruby of the red-dressed woman was said to bring misfortune to those who possess it. However, it is said that because of her anger and spite for her ex-lover, those negative emotions gave birth to dark supernatural powers within the stone.

"It is said that the woman could be resurrected, but that blood sacrifices were to be made. The summoner would then form a blood pact with the soul of the woman, wherein she would give them those powers as long as the summoner would keep feeding her more blood and/or souls.

"If the woman's soul were to be vanquished, the summoner would still be able to resurrect her as long as they had the ruby. Although, from what I found just a while ago, the ruby isn't exactly a real ruby anymore since the woman possessed it. It now gets its blood red color from the blood of the summoner."

"Now that one makes a lot more sense as to why they would need to do all of those experiments." Butterfly commented.

"Then does that mean they're planning to resurrect her?" Bright asked. "If it is, then when?"

"That's something we're going to have to find out for ourselves." Bloom answered, "If they're doing it to achieve that power, then we have to stop it no matter what."

"Amen to that."

"Agreed."

"Oh and actually, before I forget" Butterfly started, "How are you holding up, Miyako?"

Bright's eyes widened, "M-Me?" She asked, blushing. "I'm good… Things with Boomer have just gotten… a bit more complicated than I would've liked it to be."

Bloom sighed, "With the situation we are in, I don't think it would get any easier for you two."

"After all of this… do you think that things would still be able to change between the R.I.D. and LUX?" Bright asked as she looked at both of her friends with a serious face.

Even if LUX sought to bring justice in certain situations where their added power was essential, it wasn't the perfect and righteous institution that they had envisioned when they first joined.

There had been long-running issues within the place. Rumors had it that the place would go to extreme measures just to make sure that all threats would be eliminated, sacrificing the integrity that they swore oath to. With some of the intimidating and very mysterious people as their seniors, they wouldn't even dare speak ill of them.

However, since a lot of unsolved issues remained, there were still some members who wished to change the way that LUX operated.

"We can't say for certain, Miyako." Bloom said. "Even if we've been there for years now, we still have our higher-ups who get to make the decisions."

"Even if some of those are assholes, we're obligated to obey each and every single command." Butterfly added, making Bright sigh.

"That's what I thought… Should we continue getting more information then?" Changing the subject, Bright had hoped to further distract herself.

"Actually, there is something I wish to discuss with you two first." Bloom said, averting her eyes.

"Why? Did you find something else?"

Bloom nodded, "I found Mr. Jones's son." She started, "He became an agent here. However, when I tried to look for him with his Agent I.D., it came up empty. It told me that the reason why that would be is either the agent has been terminated or deceased…"

Bright gasped in horror, "No… it can't be…"

"Wait, isn't there a possibility that they could have just let him go?" Butterfly said, refusing to accept this revelation. "Have you looked up adoption records, foster home records, or anything that might help us fi—"

"I already did." Bloom interrupted, closing her eyes in distress. "I've come up empty."

Butterfly's eyes widened in shock, hanging her head low. "How are we going to tell him?"

"I don't know…"

"What was his name?"

"Keishiro," Bloom answered, "Keishiro Senoju. From this picture I have of him, he seems to be a bit younger than Ken." She then showed them the picture through their screens, earning very dismayed looks.

"I… I can't even believe this."

"If we could, we should tell him as soon as possible." Bright answered, "He deserves to know…"

"We will, I promise." Bloom reassured her, smiling. "Right now, we need to do whatever it takes to make sure that whatever this place is planning to do with those stones, we will stop it. We can't allow them to keep doing this anymore."

Both of her friends nodded in agreement. As Bright was about to say something, the ground began to shake beneath them. Things began to shake on Bright's vanity as she tried to keep her balance.

"W-What's happening?"

"I don't know, just brace yourselves!" Bloom instructed as the three of them began to take cover.

The shaking was strong, and it made all three of them all the more nervous. It carried on for minutes, and when it stopped, the three of them still remained still where they sat. Slowly, Bright began to come out as she began looking around her room.

A few things had fallen and the whole room was a mess. Curious, Bright turned to the window of her room. To her shock, her surroundings were completely different.

The dark and grim forest she was used to looking at every morning was replaced by a more serene one with bigger and greener trees. Bright ran to her compact immediately. Picking it up, she asked, "Guys, what just happened?" Her eyes turned wide. "Did you guys just see…?"

"Yeah," Butterfly answered, still a bit shaken up.

"It looks like there are still a lot of things we need to uncover about this place…" Bloom concluded, breathing heavily as she looked at her own window.

Holding her hand up to her chest, Bright whispered, "Where… are we?"

The night has already come, and one raven-haired girl sat in one of the most brightly lit bars she's ever been to. Following what happened this afternoon, she went out to try and get more information from the agents here on what had happened and what they know about the stones of legend. And what better way to do it than to ask some gullible drunk people?

With confidence exuding from her, she was able to already turn a lot of heads as soon as she stepped in the room.

She wore an elegant yet sexy black dress that she—surprisingly—had in her closet. Sitting on one of the bar stools, she called the bartender over. Tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her hair, Butterfly said, "One daiquiri."

As she waited, she began to sneakily look for easy targets. There were already some drunk people next to her, but it didn't even seem they were capable of holding a conversation. There were, however, a few people staring at her from a table at the sides.

Facing them, she teasingly flashed them a smile before facing back towards the bar. As the bartender gave her her drink, she showed him her MDP, leaving him to scan it before he made his way towards the other patrons.

Being an S-ranked agent, Snake had told her that she was free to visit the bar once every week and get free drinks. If she were to come more often, she would have to use some credits which she earns from missions—something she didn't even know that she was getting.

Taking a sip from her glass, she could faintly hear the sound of footsteps approaching her amidst the loud beating music. "Hey, don't see you around here often." A manly voice said, sitting beside her.

Turning around to face him, she smiled, "Yeah, have been quite busy lately." She said, innocently tracing her finger on the rim of her drink. "It's nice for a girl to let loose every once in a while."

"How are you finding this place?"

"Very entertaining." She answered. "How long have you been here?"

"Over a year." He replied, leaning against the bar table while holding his own glass of bourbon. "You could say that I'm one of the more important people here. The name's Kazuo, a senior agent from the Research Division."

Butterfly giggled, "Oh wow, it's so nice to meet you." She said in a flirty tone. "I'm Butterfly, although I belong to no division because I have only been here for a little over a month now. So pleased to meet you."

"Likewise." He said, smirking before taking another sip of his drink.

"Do you mind if I ask you something?" She asked, grabbing the opportunity presented to her. "Being new, I've got a lot of questions."

"I would love to, especially from a beautiful lady like you."

"Oh, stop it," She responded, giggling. Although, deep inside, she could already feel herself gagging. "I've actually been wondering what that awful earthquake that happened this afternoon was all about. It seemed so sudden."

"Don't worry about that, it's normal for it to happen every few months." He answered, "The place just relocated since some people infiltrated the establishment weeks ago."

Butterfly nodded, feigning interest. "I see. I have also heard that they had taken a few test subjects from your division, is that correct?"

"Yeah, unfortunately." He sighed, "But the good news is, our boss said that we didn't need to get anymore. Since we have more than enough samples for our research, the only course of action we need to do right now is to do the right processes and experiments with it."

Butterfly began taking note of every word he said. "Experiments, huh?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "Is it wrong of me to ask you what they are about?"

"Oh, come on, of course I wouldn't mind." He said, chuckling. "It is our duty in the Research Division to purify a blood sample that is compatible enough to purify multiple pieces of gemstones."

'Multiple pieces? Then that just leaves…'

"Gemstones? What kind?"

Kazuo shrugged in reply. "I'm really not sure, with everything going on at work, there has been a lot of things going on in my head." He then looked at her, his lips curling up to a smirk. "But ever since a vision like you entered this place, you've been the only thing I've been thinking of."

Butterfly tried to keep her composure, seeing as though she was already able to get what she could from him. "I am flattered."

"Do you care to dance with me?" He asked, offering his hand.

"I have not finished my drink, good Sir." She replied. "Wouldn't want to rush, the night is still too early after all."

"Come on now, just one little dance."

"Maybe later."

"Aw, don't be like that, sweetheart."

"Didn't know you could be so pushy, Kazuo." A sudden voice said, making them both turn around to see a man with jet black hair sitting on the other side of Butterfly. "One old-fashioned please."

As the bartender began mixing his drink, the man's forest green eyes looked at both of them. "You shouldn't be so forceful on a girl you just met."

"Sir Jojo…" Kazuo said in a dejected tone, lightly glaring at him.

"Which reminds me," Butch started, "Kind of weird for you to be here. Didn't Ace tell you that the Training and Security Division needed a report on your team's latest experiment?"

"Y-Yeah, he did."

"Better get moving then, not only will you answer to me and Fuzzy, but you'll have Ace on your ass too."

"Understood…" Kazuo said, putting down his glass as he gave one last look to both of them before walking away.

As the bartender handed Butch his drink, Butterfly began looking at him in annoyance. "I don't need your help, you know."

"What do you mean?" He asked after taking a sip. "I needed that report."

"Sure you did." She said, laughing as she held her drink to her lips. "Why did I sense a hint of jealousy in your voice just a while ago?" Butterfly teased, the alcohol seemingly starting to slowly creep in as she became bolder in her statements.

Butch scoffed. "Must be getting tipsy already, Butterfly."

"Yeah, right, from one drink? Keep dreaming, Jojo." She replied, downing her drink as she ordered another. "One more daiquiri, bartender."

"Spending a day to let loose, huh?" He asked, chuckling. "Good for you, better than staying cooped up in that room all day."

"Actually, the question is why are you here? Shouldn't you be busy at work?"

"Took a break, I'll get back to it in a few."

"As soon as you go looking for another girl to go and sleep with, I'm willing to bet that you won't be finishing any of your work."

"Another girl?"

"I've already heard the gossip from Snake and the others." Butterfly responded, finishing her second drink as she ordered another. "Quite the ladies, man, aren't you?"

He chuckled once again, "It seems as though you're the one who's jealous."

Butterfly grimaced at his statement. "As if," She said, taking a sip of her drink almost immediately after receiving it. "I couldn't care less as long as you keep it down and try not to bother me in my sleep anymore.

"Why? Have I ever brought a girl back to our room before?" He asked, as he too ordered another drink.

"No, but I wouldn't put it past you."

"You're a pretty talkative little cat when you're tipsy, aren't you?" Butch laughed, taking in a big gulp of his old-fashioned drink. "Kind of cute, not gonna lie."

"Are you starting to like me now, Butch?" Butterfly asked, leaning her head on her palm as she looked at him seductively. "Saw your brother warming up to Bright so you're doing the same to me?"

He paused for a while, finding Butterfly's sudden switch in behavior a bit weird. Now she was the one flirting with him. "Uh-huh, your sister and my brother's business is none of my concern so, yeah."

"You go kissing me and then you act as if you don't even find me attractive." She said, getting another glass of daiquiri. "I'm hurt, babe." She said in a soft tone, looking up at him with puppy dog eyes.

"Getting more and more drunk, I see."

"Why? Wouldn't it be easier for you?" Butterfly asked, playing with her hair. "Or do you like it when I bite back?"

Rolling his eyes, he finished his second glass before looking over towards her. "I'll take you back to your room to rest, who knows what trouble you'll get into with you in this state." He then looked at the bartender. "Don't bother giving her any more."

"What?!" She exclaimed, standing up from her seat. "No way! Just fuck off, Butch!"

"You're drunk, Butterfly."

"No, I'm not!"

He then stood in front of her, lightly poking her as she lost her balance. Luckily, he was able to catch her in time. Carefully, he wrapped his arms around her to support her.

"Come on, let's get you back."

"Shut up, you're such a killjoy." Butterfly snapped, yawning as she seemed a little more groggy. "Such a perv too."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, I really don't want to get in an argument with a drunk Butterfly."

"You just want to get it on again, right? Haha! You're so predictable." As Butch dragged her out and headed into the elevator, her drunken conversations with him continued, "You're kind of cute, you know."

Butch chuckled, "First time I've ever heard you say that," He said. "Don't know if that's true or not though, you are hammered."

Butterfly giggled, "You're pretty hot too, I love it when I accidentally see you shirtless in your room."

"So now who's the perv?" He asked, laughing as they now were on their floor. "Never knew you liked to get wasted."

"Yeah, I wanna go back!"

"And we are back, in our room." Butch deadpanned as he unlocked the door.

With Butterfly getting stubborn and not wanting to go back in the room, he had no choice but to use his telekinesis to force her in. Struggling, Butterfly cursed and screamed at him as she was dragged to her room. Even as she kept fighting Butch quickly tucked her in bed.

She continued to struggle as the blankets were wrapped around her tightly. "Get me out of this, dickhead!"

"Good night to you too, Butterfly." He said, chuckling as he grabbed the door knob. "You'll eventually get tired and go to sleep, and don't worry, it's comfy I promise."

"You asshole! I'm going to fucking kick you so hard right in the—!"

He then closed the door as the very faint muffled sound of her shouting and cursing could be heard. With her in that state, he was sure that she wouldn't remember anything as soon as she downed her third glass that night. However, even so, Butch couldn't help but laugh.

Was her words true? He could never be sure. But it made him happy to know that she didn't hate his whole being entirely.

And with that, he left the room with a smile on his face.
