Chapter 8:

She walks into the kitchen after I try to be affectionate...Is she ashamed of us?

Jane POV:

I stared blankly in front of me waiting for Maura to return. I don't understand why she just got up and walked away. It made me think that it was because my brother and partner are sitting right here. My cheeks feel very hot and I am frustrated but I don't want to take it out on her.

I get up and walk into the kitchen, she is busy cleaning and I can tell that she is trying to avoid talking about it. I just decided to drop it for now, so I also started to help her clean the kitchen. She looks over at me and gives me a small smile. Once the boys are done they both come in to the kitchen to tell us that they were heading out. I was kind of dreading it because I didn't want to have the conversation that I know we need to have. She asked me to move in so this whole situation has me very confused but I guess I will just have to wait.

Maura and I both say goodbye to the boys after the kitchen is all clean. Maura goes into the living room while I am brewing another pot of coffee. We haven't said too much to each other and there is a lot of tension between us. I walk into the living room as well. "Hey Maura, are you okay?"

She smiles at me which brings me a little peace, "Yes Jane."

"Did I do something wrong earlier when you got up after I touched your leg, I was worried that you might not want to be out publicly yet?"

She quickly gives me a hug, "No Jane nothing like that. This is just very new to us and I was having trouble controlling my arousal. When you placed your hand on my thigh I got very turned on. So I got up to go into the kitchen to regulate my breathing."

"Oh that makes me feel so much better. I was starting to get really worried but I didn't want to talk it out until the boys left."

"I'm sorry for making you worry." She leans forward and presses her lips to mine. She always taste so sweet. I kiss her back passionately and run my tongue over her top lip. I pull away when the need to breathe becomes too much.

"Did you still want to clean out your apartment today Jane?"

"If you are up to it then yes I would love to have you all moved in today, and then we won't have to worry about anything."

"Okay, would you like to stop by Morning Joes and grab coffee on the way?"

"Oh you sure know how to win a girl's heart." She laughs.

It doesn't take long for us to get ready and start heading out into the car. The drive to my apartment didn't take long after the stop at Morning Joes. We both head upstairs and I unlocked the door.

"I don't know what I plan to take with me but I do know that I will probably leave most of it for Tommy. He really needs a new place and since I own this condo I figure he could have it."

"Jane you are so sweet. Well I was thinking about that. Our house only reflects me and I want to redo the whole house."

"I would love that Maura but that's really expensive hun, we could do it a little at a time."

"Oh baby I know it's expensive but I really want to do it."

"Can I suggest something?"

"Always Jane, I love hearing your opinion."

"What if I build everything you need? We could go draw up plans and I can build our dream home."

"You would build our home Jane?" I see tears in her eyes.

"Oh Maura I am sorry that I made you cry."

"No I love that idea, we can look at property and build our home. Plus I think you would look really great in a tool belt."

"I would be honored to build our house, I think Frankie, Frost, Korsak, and Tommy would help to."

"I want a big yard Jane, and a big house with rooms for children if we have them and a place for your new man cave, and a yoga room, and a big big kitchen because I want to have the Rizzoli Sunday Dinners."

"Well then let me grab my clothes and you can use my laptop to look for property. We can go look at it today if you'd like."

"Okay I will be right here looking for it."

I go into my room and start packing.

Maura POV:

I look through all the lands/lots within 30 minutes of Boston. After endless searching, I found a perfect land: it was 11.03 acres in Newton, Massachusetts. It is $949,000 and it is mainly grass and there are beautiful trees. I really like that one so I am going to ask Jane if we can go look at it.

I hear her come out with bags of clothes, and I smile sheepishly at her. "Jane I have found the perfect land. Can we look at it today?"

"Of course Maura, is there any pictures of the land."

"Yes come look." She walks over to me and starts looking through the pictures.

"Wow that is beautiful, how far from work?

"It is about 25 minutes to work."

"Awesome, call the real estate agent and tell them we would like to look at it."

"Okay, oh thank you Jane. You really have no idea how happy you make me."

"You make me happy too Maura, I have never been this happy in my whole life."

"Me as well Jane. Let's go look at our possible new land."

"Okay, do you want to drive or do you want me to drive?"

"You drive Jane, I love being able to relax in the car while you drive."

We both grab bags and head out to the car. I called the real estate agent in the car and he agreed to meet us in an hour so we decided to go there now and walk around the property. The drive was about 27 minutes and we pull in front of the beautiful lot. "Jane if we buy this, do you think we can take a couple weeks of vacation? So we can start on the house?"

"I would love that Maura. Would you do me the honor of walking on this lovely property with me?"

"I would love nothing more." I intertwined my hand with her.

"Maura this place is lovely. Do you like it?"

"I love it here, just picture us together here. Imagine us getting married, having children, growing old together on this lot?"

"I can picture that Maura and I have never liked any idea more." A car pulls up behind mine and I see a man in a suit get out. We walk up to him and he introduces himself.

"Good Afternoon ladies, I am Richard DuPont of DuPont and White Real Estate Agency."

"Good afternoon I am Isles, we spoke on the phone earlier. This is my girlfriend Detective Jane Rizzoli."

"Nice to meet you both, so when we spoke on the phone you said you were interested in buying this lot."

"Yes, I was hoping to buy today, we were looking for a space to build a home."

"Today would be great. No one has actually been looking at this plot of land for a while due to the size and price of it. Did you plan to apply for a mortgage?"

"No I was looking to pay in full with a check."

"Alright so before we discuss price, do you want me to recommend some contractors and plumbers?"

Jane speaks up, "No that's alright I come from a family for contractors and plumbers."

"Alright so shall we discuss price?"

"On the website it is listed as $949,000, I am absolutely fine paying that." I see Jane swallow hard. She is so shy and awkward when it comes to money.

"Okay well I was thinking since you are paying in full and I enjoyed our talk, I feel confident you will be happy here. I am willing to drop down to $875,000. Does that work for you?"

"That is amazing, alright let me write you a check. Now I know paperwork has to be filed but I was wondering if you mind us starting building soon. I plan on bringing my family here to help plan and we have very busy schedules so I want to get as much work as possible."

"That is alright, I can have the paperwork filed within a couple days." We walk back over to the car and I pull out my checkbook. I write the check and sign the papers adding Jane's Name so we co-own the property together. Once all the paperwork is signed and leaves Jane and I sit in the car looking out to our property.

"Um Maura, that is a lot of money. Are you sure?"

"Absolutely I want to start our lives together. So about the vacation should we put in for it and then we can tell everyone at dinner."

"That is a great idea. So let's draw up some plans. Let's build our dream house."

"Okay so I was thinking why don't we go home and start thinking about what to include and how to set up the house." I say to her.

"Alright let's do that." We both close our doors and Jane starts the car.

"What do you plan to do with your house?" Jane asks me.

"I was thinking that since your mother lives in the guest house, I'll just give her the main house that way she doesn't have to think about moving."

"What did I ever do to deserve such an amazing woman?"

"I guess you were just born Jane Rizzoli. And you are every bit as amazing as I am."

"Well sit back and enjoy the ride. Imagine what you want our dream house to look like and I will make it happen."

The ride was uneventful until we reached a stop light. When the light turned green and Jane pressed the gas. SMACKKKKK…..CRASHHHHHH. I feel Janes arms around me holding me tight.

I hear sirens and someone trying to help. My door was able to open but Jane couldn't get out she was trapped. I look over to the other car, the driver is standing there fine. I can't help the tears that flood my face. I can't tell if she is okay or not. Paramedics arrive and I introduce myself, "Hello I am Dr. Maura Isles, my girlfriend Detective Jane Rizzoli is trapped in the driver side."

"You should have someone look at your head , you have laceration on your left temple and it looks like there is glass embedded in the wound track."

"I will but please help her."

I wait very impatiently while they attempt to get her out of the car. After what felt like days they almost had her out. I see her face covered in blood and I start to cry. I went up to the other driver. He immediately tried to apologize, "I don't want to hear your apology. I am the Chief Medical Examiner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. And the woman in that car is Detective First Grade Jane Rizzoli, hero of Boston. You better hope she is okay because you will be answering to me if she isn't.

"I'm really sorry I wasn't paying attention when I was on the phone. I am so sorry."

Paramedics are ready to go, I climb in next to Jane and look at her. Bruised and bloody.
