Chapter 13:

The bus comes and Jane is hoisted into the ambulance. The whole ride to the nearest hospital Jane didn't wake up, she is covered in bruises and wounds. I am just happy to have her back. We can get better together.

Maura POV:

I watch in silence as they take her blood pressure, heart beat, and oxygen. I give the paramedics all the answers they need as far as assisting Jane. I can't help thinking all of this is my fault. I feel my face become hot with tears and the worrying begins to invade my thoughts again. What if she blames me? What if she thinks any of what happened was her fault? What if she's not okay?

We arrived at the nearest hospital in record time. They take her immediately to trauma for a CT Scan. A nurse brings me to a private family room while they take care and assess her immediate injuries. As her medical power of attorney I can let Frost and Korsak into the room ith Frankie and myself. As I am pacing the room a nurse comes in and asks to speak with me privately.

"Hello I am Linda, I am going to be Detective Rizzoli attending nurse. Dr. Gallen wanted your permission to do a rape kit, we found seminal fluid on her thighs when we were prepping her for the CT Scan."

"Of course, but if she is not sedated at the time please let me discuss it with her."

"We do not know the extent of the damage especially since she was in a car accident just a few days ago so we are sedating her for now. As far as the CT Scan went should be in shortly to discuss it with you and her family. They are preparing her for surgery. She has a shattered wrist and we need to put in a metal plate as well as reconstruct the nerves around it."

"Okay thank you. I will go inform our family of her condition."

I walk back into the room and all eyes are on me. Frankie immediately takes me into his arms. Once he lets go, I wipe the tears from my eyes. "I have a lot of information for you and some of it is going to be harder to hear than others. I need you all to promise me something."

"Anything, what is it?"

"I am going to tell you everything but there is something you need to keep to yourself until Jane tells you okay."

"Yes of course, how bad?"

"The CT Scan came back clear so there is no evidence of damage done to her brain, they did however find that she faced numerous other injuries such as a shattered wrist which they are prepping her for surgery to reconstruct, they haven't had a chance to check for other injuries but they did bring to my attention which you need to let her tell your herself that they are going to do a rape kit because they found semen." I see anger run through all of the faces in front of me. Frost takes a few steps then just starts pounding on the wall.

"Barry Barry please, I can't keep it together much longer. I need help being strong." His demeanor immediately softens and he sits down on the small couch with me. He pulls me into his arms and lets me cry. I look at my watch every two minutes but in this moment it feels like time has stopped. I have never felt like this before, my body is running on pure emotions and some of the feelings I am having cannot be explained by science. As a woman who is ruled by science, I cannot find the words I need to say.

About a couple hours later, a slight knock on the door and a doctor walks in, "Jane Rizzoli's family?"

"Yes I am Isles, this is Detectives Frost and Rizzoli, and sergeant Korsak. They have been informed about all parts of her treatment so no need to hold anything back."

"Alright thank you. I am the physician attending to Detective Rizzoli. I have some good news, after the wrist surgery the surgeon did let me know that with extensive physical therapy her right hand will have full range of motion and understanding that she is left handed it should not interfere with her job. As previously stated there is no damage intracranially, and onto the best news the rape kit came back negative. She is currently being transferred and you all should be able to see her in a little bit. We are weaning her off the sedative so she will be able to wake up and be transferred to Boston with you all as long as you take precautions on the flight to ensure that she is comfortable and well taken care of. She is suffering from severe dehydration and it's been days since she's had a full meal so keep that in mind so she doesn't eat herself into a stomach illness."

"About how long until we can see her?" Frankie.

"Give me about 10 minutes to get her all set up in a room then we can discuss everything after you see her."

"Thank you Doctor." Barry tells him. Then he comes to stand with me again.

"She's going to be alright. Jane's a fighter." He says as he squeezes my forearm. I released a breath I did not even realize I was holding. I just know that with each minute that passing I am getting closer and closer to be reunited with Jane. Finally the nurse Linda comes into the room and let's us know she can bring us to Jane now.

The walk to Jane's room, my heart began to beat faster and faster. We get into the room and I gasp that she looks so small in that bed. Barry places a chair next to her for me to sit down. I pull her hand into mine and stroke it lightly. I say to her, "Come on Jane, open your eyes baby. Let me see your beautiful brown eyes. I miss them so much. You are my everything, I love you."

I sit patiently with her for another hour as she sleeps peacefully. I looked at her and I noticed the furrow of her brow, she started shaking and whispering. "Don't please leave her alone. Don't touch her I'll give you anything please."

"Baby wake up, Jane come on sweetie."

"Maura please no not Maura."

"I'm right here baby. Wake up Jane." I grab her hand and place in under my shirt directly on my breast, I feel her squeeze and I encourage her, "See baby I'm right here come back to me."

A groggy voice and two brown eyes look up at me. "He had you. I had to get you back.."

"I'm safe, you're safe. Right here baby." I place a chaste kiss on her lips.

"You saved me."

"I always do. I love you Jane."

"I love you too Maura." She smiles.

"Janie I was so worried. I am so glad you're okay." Frankie hugs her.

"Welcome back to the world Partner." Frost says squeezing her other hand.

"Thank you for not leaving me alone with Frost permanently. I'm glad you're okay Janie." Korsak says sweetly.

"Let me get the doctor Jane." I say as I go to stand up.

"Let me Maura, stay here with Jane." Frankie says.

"How are you feeling baby?" I ask her concerned.

"Like I've had the shit kicked out of me." She says emotionally.

"I'm so sorry baby. I didn't mean for anything of this to happen, I thought that he would just go away. I never thought he would hurt you. This is all my fault. Jane I'm sorry I'm so so sorry." I start crying.

"Hey hey Maura not it isn't your fault. I had the chance to free myself but I didn't because he wanted you. He wanted to hurt you."

"What do you mean you had the chance to free yourself?"

"Frost, Korsak could you give me a minute?" She looks up at the two men.
"He said he would've let me go if he had got what he wanted from me, and that he was going to keep me until I gave it to him?"

"I'm confused,"

"He tried to rape me but I thought of you and didn't react to him so he got angry because I wouldn't fight him. He didn't want to kill me, he wanted to hurt me so bad I couldn't love anymore. And that's because he wanted you to himself." She responds with tears in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry."

"You saved me physically and mentally baby. I knew you would find me so I just had to hold on."

"He didn't?"

"No he didn't. He did a whole lot of things but I am okay truly."

"I love you Jane. More than you could ever know."

Frost, Korsak, Frankie, and Dr. Gallen walked in. "Hello Jane I am , I am your attending physician. How are you feeling?"

"I've seen better days."

"Jane be honest and describe your pain please."

"My wrist is my main area of pain. I have slight pain all over from the box cutter, and my legs hurt from where they were tied but other than that I feel relatively okay."

"Alright well we did have to operate on your wrist but you will regain full motion we however did put a metal plate in to reconstruct the wrist. The cuts will heal but we can have put some bacitracin after you bathe to help with the stinging, and your legs do have a bit of rope burn so be careful with that. I have you on some pain medication and if all goes well we can look to get you out in at least 6 hours. I just want to do some observation first to make sure you are able to travel."

"Travel. I thought I was in South Boston by the old docks."

"No honey we're in Louisiana. You were drugged so they could move you."

"No wonder it was so hot, I was sweating but I thought it was just because I was hurt, wait you guys came all the way to Louisiana."

"Yes Jane. I would've gone to the end of the earth to find you."

"Can I shower Doc?"

"Not yet but you can be given a bath. Either a female nurse or can do that and then we will go from there."

"I'll bathe her. Thank you Doctor." I say coldly. Like I'm going to let someone else touch her.

"Okay." leaves the room and all eyes are on me.

"Is something wrong?"

Jane responds humorously, "You got jealous because he suggested a female nurse would bathe me."

"So? I haven't seen you in three days and he says a female nurse. No me and only me. Guys if I give you a list and money can you go pick up some things from the nearest store."

"Yes."

"Alright and I want you guys to grab dinner on me please, as a tank you for finding Jane. Jane sweetie it's been a couple of days since you ate, what do you want to eat?"

"Fried chicken and mashed potatoes." She says smiling

"That was fast."

"Maura we're in Louisiana you think I'm not going to have that. Thank you. Also boys, whatever she writes down for bathing products please get me like the least smelling girly stuff please."

"Fine, what do you want to get Jane?" I huff at her jokingly.

"Axe phoenix body wash, Suave Clarifying shampoo and conditioner, and old spice deodorant."

"Okay, here is the card. Pin is 1976."

"Alright we will be back Maura. What did you want to eat by the way?"

"If you can find Cajun Shrimp and fries that would be great, if not the same as Jane."

"Okay we will be back." And they leave the room.

"Would you like to talk about what happened?" I ask her.

"Not yet but I would really like for you to kiss me." I lean forward and press my lips to hers.

"You have no idea how much I missed doing that." I say breathily to her.

"Same here Maura, will you lay with me? I have one good side." She smiles and gives me a pouty face.

"I really shouldn't Jane, you're recovering." I warn her.

"I will recover better with you laying next to me."

"Statistically that is not true but I miss being held by you so only for a little bit."

She scoots over and I lay down next to her. I lay my head on her shoulder and snuggle in close, "I love you." She whispers and kisses my temple.

"I love you too, sleep now Jane. We have a little while before they get back."

Hello Readers! Jane is safe and going to be brought back to Boston, I'll stop the cliffhangers for a little bit while we watch their recovery.
