Leena's POV
"So what the hell is going on? Why did the Migrant Fleet accuse you of treason?" I asked Tali.
"I don't know but I'm scared" Tali replied.
The scared quarian was literally shaking beside me. I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and she sighed before thanking me. The Commander wanted me to come on this mission so Tali could have another woman along for support. The Normandy eventually arrived at the Flotilla, and since this was where the quarian's lived Shepard and I needed to put our helmets on.
After the Normandy docked I made sure my helmet was securely on before I followed Tali and the Commander off of our vessel. We were met by a security and quarantine team upon arrival. A male quarian greeted us.
"Captain Shepard, Tali'Zorah has told me a lot about you, I wish it could have been under more pleasant circumstances"
The quarian captain made some small talk with the Commander before explaining Tali was accused of bringing active geth into the Fleet as part of a secret project.
"That's insane! I never brought active geth aboard, I only sent parts and pieces" Tali protested.
According to Tali her father was working on a project and needed the materials. But she was absolutely positive whatever she sent back was only damaged. Until the trial was over Tali couldn't leave the ship which was understandable. Tali thanked the captain and he wished us luck before we left him.
We met up with another quarian and this one was female.
"Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, I am glad you came I could delay them only so long"
From this quarian's tone, she was definitely older. Tali embraced the older quarian before introducing her to us. Her name was Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay, a friend of Tali's father. Tali was however uneasy when she heard Raan address her by vas Normandy instead of Neema. Due to her history with Tali and her father, Raan had to recuse herself from the trial.
And according to quarian law, Tali could have someone to defend her and that was her captain.
Raan told us to follow her and we did. She led us into the room where the trial was being held and I went to go observe with other quarian's who were spectating. Raan stood up on an upper platform while three other admirals stood on their assigned spots below her. The room darkened and the hearing began after a brief blessing.
"The accused Tali'Zorah vas Normandy has come with her captain to defend herself against the charge of treason" Raan began.
"Objection! A human has no business at a hearing involving such military matters!" one of the admirals exclaimed.
"Then you should not have declared Tali crew of the Normandy, Admiral Koris, by right as Tali's captain Shepard must stay" Raan informed her colleague.
Looking defeated Koris shook his head and withdrew his objection. I didn't like that quarian since he was so quick to object.
Raan then asked Shepard if he was willing to speak on Tali's behalf and the human male stepped forward and replied.
"I shouldn't have to, when Tali and the rest of my crew helped me stop Saren and his geth, her actions spoke for themselves, without her help and the others of my team none of you would be alive to put her on trial today"
I smirked at my friend's comment.
"Well said Shepard" another male quarian spoke. His tone sounded more friendly than his colleague's. "None of us should forget Tali's and the rest of your crew's contributions for the Fleet"
"Tali you are accused of bringing active geth to the Migrant Fleet, what say you?" Raan asked.
"How could Tali have brought geth into the Fleet while serving on the Normandy?" Shepard questioned.
"To clarify Shepard, she isn't accused of bringing back entire units only parts that could spontaneously reactivate" the female admiral spoke up.
"But I would never send active geth to the Fleet! Everything I sent was disabled and harmless" Tali defended herself.
"Then explain how geth seized the lab ship where your father was working" Koris demanded.
Yeah, I really didn't like that guy.
This got the spectators to wonder and Tali had no idea what Koris was talking about and wanted to know what happened to the ship in question.
"As far as we can tell, Tali the geth killed everyone on the Alarei, your father included" the nice quarian admiral responded to her question.
"What? Oh Keelah"
Tali bowed her head and Shepard continued his defense strategy.
"I thought quarian's valued family! How do you justify springing this on Tali in the middle of a damn trial?"
"Our apologies, Tali should have been informed," Raan said and she meant it too.
"Shepard we have to take back the Alarei"
"The safest course would be to simply destroy the ship, but if you are looking for an honorable death instead of exile"
"I'm looking for my father you bosh'tet!" Tali snapped at Koris. I grinned at that comeback.
"You intend to retake the Alarei from the geth? This proposal is extremely dangerous"
"You think Tali is helping the geth? Maybe killing a few dozen will prove her loyalty"
The hearing was then put on hold so we could successfully retake the Alarei and Raan permitted us to leave the Rayya. I hugged Tali because she damn well deserved it due to the bullshit being thrown her way and she returned it.
"I think we're going to need some drinks after this trial is over" I joked after I pulled away from Tali.
"Agreed though I'm pretty sure I don't want a hangover" Shepard chuckled.
"Ugh I've had a few myself and it sucks" Tali groaned.
"Yeah it does suck, it hurts to even stand up when your drunk" I agreed.
Tali laughed at my comment and the Commander did the same.
