Two Months Prior.

Danielle's POV

I almost didn't recognize my boyfriend when I came home from work. My turian boyfriend had been causally waiting in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Not caring who was watching I rushed out of my car and soon was in the arms of Tarquin Victus.

"Damn it love I've missed you," I told the turian while in the midst of several kisses.

"And I missed you Dani" Tarquin replied with a purr.

When we got inside my apartment we ended up making love until our bodies had enough.

"You're here to tell me something aren't you?" I asked while we lay in each other's arms.

"I'm afraid so" he confirmed before kissing my forehead. "I'm being deployed in a few days and I don't know when I'll see you again"

"You don't need to explain it to me I understand"

There was talk about a machine race called Reapers invading the galaxy soon so it didn't surprise me that Tarquin was being deployed.

"War is coming" Tarquin went on. "And I needed to see you before I was sent off"

"Then you better promise me something Tarquin Victus"

"And what would that be Kitten?"

I smacked his shoulder in reprimand at his nickname for me.

"Stay alive if you can"

The turian kissed my forehead in return.

"I will try to honor that promise, Dani"

A Few Days Later On The Citadel.

Leena's POV

I felt stupid for crying but damn it all I couldn't help it. A few days ago Garrus received orders to go to Palaven to prepare for the Reaper invasion as an advisor. Now I was about to say goodbye to my husband who had a high chance of being killed in action.

"Leena come here"

Garrus brought me into his arms and he held me for who knows how long.

"I'm hard to kill my Nightshade," he said trying to reassure me. He was right my Archangel was hard to kill.

"The ship to Palaven is about to leave Garrus" Saren announced. "You have my word I'll look after Leena"

"We both will" Rue added.

"Thank you both, take care of her" my husband responded as he pulled away.

"Try to avoid getting any more scars" Cypher joked from his spot on Saren's shoulder.

That got all of us to laugh and before he headed to the ship my Archangel kissed my forehead one last time. Our group didn't leave until the ship was no longer visible.

"Damn I need a drink now," I told the she-wolf and older turian.

"I was about to ask you that" Rue stated.

One Month Prior.

Still Leena's POV

Not having Garrus around sucked but I adjusted to it. We talked whenever he wasn't busy and so far things on Palaven were quiet. Life for me continued on the Citadel as usual until I got a call from my brother that he and the rest of my family were coming.

Owen was offered a temporary job at one of the hospitals on the station but he only accepted the position if our family was given refuge. So after work, I met up with my family in refuge housing for people who were coming to the Citadel before the invasion.

"Shit I'm glad you guys are here," I told my parents along with Owen and Dani.

"We are too honey" Dad answered. "But there will be many others who won't be as lucky when these Reapers come"

He was right when the war started there would be many casualties galaxy-wide.

"Cypher your still cute as ever," Danielle told the Metal Dragon who was currently perched on her shoulder.

"Thanks and I'm glad your guys are here, Leena misses Garrus"

"Has there been any news from Palaven?" Mom inquired.

I shook my head.

"It's quiet but it won't be for long, Garrus keeps me updated"

"Tarquin does the same when he can"

"If only our son found a mate" Mom finished.

"MOM!" my siblings and I protested while Dad facepalmed and Cypher was laughing his ass off.

Present

Leena's POV

"Holy mother of God," I said watching the news.

The Reapers were here and the invasion across the galaxy was starting. Earth was being torn to shreds and it was hard to watch. My omni-tool went off saying I had a message from Saren and I turned the television off and accepted the message.

The older turian wanted to meet at Ambassador Udina's office.

"Come on Cy, Saren wants to meet at Udina's place"

"Alright" the Metal Dragon agreed before flapping his way over to my shoulder. A short sky car ride later I arrived where Udina worked and an Asari led me to the ambassador's office. Saren wasn't the only one with Udina.

"Hey Commander long time no see" I greeted my old friend with a handshake.

"You look good Leena though I wished we met under better circumstances"

"The council again has chosen not to take action against the Reapers" Saren explained.

"ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME?!" I roared making Udina and Cypher jump. "They need to quit screwing around and f**king help! My own husband is back on Palaven fighting and he could goddamn die!"

"We understand your frustration Mrs. Vakarian" Udina began but I interrupted him.

"Like hell you do!"

Saren placed a hand on my shoulder. I shot my old friend a glance and he gave me a sympathetic look. It took me a few minutes to calm down before Shepard explained the Alliance was working on a device that might be able to destroy the Reapers. But other information was needed and the human Spectre once again asked me to join his crew.

"Hell ya I'm in"

"As am I, I've been needing to burn more shit down" Cypher added.

"I'm going as well since I am familiar with the Reapers" Saren finished.

"Our people are scared and we're looking out for them the best we know how" Councilor Sparatus greeted as he came into the room. "Mrs. Vakarian I am sorry if you are upset"

I kept my mouth shut because saying something smart ass to Sparatus wouldn't help. The turian councilor gave me his own look of sympathy before turning to Shepard.

"Commander I can't give you what you need but I can tell you how to get it"

He had our attention now.

"I'm listening"

"Primarch Fedorian called the war summit but we lost contact with him when the Reapers hit Palaven" Sparatus explained. "Those meetings won't proceed without him, the Normandy is one of the few ships that can extract Primarch Fedorian undetected, the leaders of this summit will be the ones deciding our future, the fate of our fleets, where they fight, and with whom, a grateful Primarch would be a tremendous ally in your bid to unite us"

"He's right Shepard getting the Primarch would be a wise decision" Saren advised.

Sparatus went on to explain the Primarch was on a base located on Palaven's largest moon. The turian councilor wished us luck before taking his leave. I told Shepard and Saren I would see them back on the Normandy and I left to go pack.

Saren's POV

"Take this with you my Moonheart"

My mate handed me a vial and inside was a silvery liquid I wasn't familiar with.

"Wait is this?"

"The venom from a Silver Lily if I'm right this toxin could kill a Reaper, so should you cross paths with one use it"

I nodded and pressed my forehead against Rue's.

"I will contact you as much as I can Little Wolf"

"Don't worry about me my Moonheart, I'll be fine, just go and kick some Reaper ass"

I chuckled before she gave me a loving kiss against my mouth plates.

Leena's POV

Before leaving my apartment I made sure to say goodbye to my family. They wished me luck and told me to be careful. The moment I stepped onto the Normandy I was being hugged by Liara. It was great to see her again and once we pulled apart Cypher was in her arms licking her face like mad. I dropped my things off in my room before going to find Shepard.

I found the human male with some new faces.

"Holy hell you're the science fiction Lara Croft!" a man by the name of James Vega exclaimed. "Shit it's an honor to meet you!"

I liked this guy and I happily shook hands with him. Shepard then introduced me to Steve Cortez and Samantha Treynor. They seemed friendly enough and after I shook hands with them I made sure to say hello to Joker. The pilot was happy to see me again and we talked for a few minutes before I left him so he could work.

Not long after Saren boarded, the Normandy began its exit of the Citadel and started its journey to Palaven. I just hoped Garrus was alright along with Castis and Solana.
