Galivanting God

Chapter 4

2 months have passed since Naruto learned the Water-Walking exercise. During that time Naruto had gained new Jutsu and strengthened his previous skills. Thanks to his mass Shadow Clone training method the blonde had mastered all of the Elemental Chakra natures. Granted, he only knew one or two low ranking jutsu for them, but Naruto had done it. A feat which only a select few in the world had done. One of them being Konoha's own Third Hokage.

Naruto would never have been able to do it without the aid of his Shadow Clones. They had sped years and years of Elemental Training to just 2 months. Naruto had theorised it would have taken him well over 30 years without them to complete all the elemental training. He had also risen to Level 5, something that made him immensely happy. During those two months, Naruto had completed 674 D-Rank Missions by himself. Something that his wallet greatly appreciated. Because of the increase in his earnings, the blonde had opened his first Bank Account to store his money. It was only a short-term investment at the moment, as the young Gamer hoped to purchase his own property at some point, then he would store his wealth in the confines of that house.

For Team 7's Activities during the past two months, nothing had really changed, in fact, things had devolved back to the way they were before Wave. Sasuke had become more closed off ever since awakening his Sharingan, and as for Sakura, Naruto thought there was no chance in hell of that girl ever becoming something beyond a Genin. She had done nothing these past two months, except for meeting up with the rest of the team and doing D-Ranks. Naruto deduced she was perfectly content with being a fan girl for Sasuke and nothing more.

The only good thing to come out his Team was his Sensei. Naruto had fully re-evaluated the man. Ever since the blonde had taken to asking him for help, Kakashi had readily given it. It was who he learned his Low-Ranking Jutsu from. Naruto had deduced that this was Kakashi's first time actually teaching a Genin Team properly. As such, the man had no real way of knowing what to teach and when to teach it.

Naruto had grown closer to Kakashi as well over the past couple of months. A sign of their deepened bond was something that had greatly surprised Naruto.

"Naruto." Kakashi called his blonde student over, said Genin making his way to stand in front of his sensei with a questioning expression on his face. Over the past month and a half, Kakashi had come to understand that Naruto was mislabelled in the Academy. Naruto had been coming to him every chance he could to learn new Jutsu and spar with him. It made the former-ANBU happy, slowly but steadily, he was getting to know his Sensei's son. Kakashi himself knew it was a personal bias inside him that was making him train Naruto this much. He would not deny that. But he hadn't sought out to train the boy either. The Student sought out the Master. The same could not be said for his other Genins. Sasuke had withdrawn back into his loner tendencies and Sakura was all too happy to do nothing but fawn over him. As such, Kakashi had spent a lot of his free time teaching Naruto new Jutsus, helping him develop as a Shinobi.

This was what called for his knew understanding of the blonde. The teen had learned a Jutsu from every element except the Lightning Release. Some of them were low-ranking Jutsu, only one of them was a Mid-Ranking Jutsu, and that was the Water Release: Great Waterfall technique. The silver-haired man only taught that to Naruto because of his gargantuan Chakra reserves, as the technique required a lot of it. Thus today, Kakashi had decided to teach Naruto a Lightning Release technique.

"What is it, Kakashi-sensei?" The blonde looked up towards the scarecrow. The man, this time had no Icha-Icha book in front of him. So, it was something serious, the blonde concluded.

"You've really impressed me over the past couple of weeks Naruto, you've learned every Jutsu I've shown you. I think it's time for you to learn a Lightning Release technique." Naruto's eyes widened in both surprise and excitement. The teen then started to bounce on the balls of his feet as he spoke.

"But, Kakashi-Sensei, you said that Raiton was super bad for me!" Despite his words the smile on his face was still prevalent. Kakashi smiled at the boy.

"Hmm, I did say that didn't I? Well Naruto, I'm going to show you something that's something only you can do. Now, make a single Shadow Clone." Kakashi also put his hands together in the cross shape. Another Kakashi and Naruto spawned into existence.

"Alright, now what Sensei?" Both the Naruto's asked in unison.

"Now, your clone and my clone are going to go over into the trees there and have a talk." The clone Kakashi made the Naruto clone follow him. Inwardly, Naruto was celebrating, the man had finally revealed the memory feedback function of the Shadow Clones, now if someone in Konoha was to ever question his strength, he had a viable alibi. The original's waited for about thirty seconds, with Naruto impatiently tapping his foot the whole time. Then, the clones memories returned to Naruto.

"Eh, Kakashi-Sensei is that really in the book you read? I don't really know what to say to that, ya know?" Naruto looked at his Sensei with an almost scathing gaze. Kakashi raised his hands in defence, inwardly wondering why his clone showed the Naruto clone that page of Icha-Icha.

"Now, now Naruto, calm down. Think about it for a second, how did you know about that if you and I were both here the whole time?"

"Huh? Well, our clones went in that direction and then… AH!" Naruto's face brightened like he had an epiphany "Do my Shadow Clones grant me like Future Sight or Telepathy or something!?"

Kakashi couldn't help but want to collapse in on himself. Despite the blondes aptitude for the Shinobi Arts, he forgot the teen was a bit dim-witted outside of that area.

"No Naruto, the reason you knew was because your Shadow Clones have the ability to transfer memories back to the Original. Surely you must have noticed it with all those extra missions you've been doing?"

Naruto's face broke into that of someone pondering on the past. His eyes screwed shut with his mouth firmly in a pout of concentration.

"Hmm, I think something like that happened. I'm not too sure Kakashi-Sensei. So, what is it!? What's this thing that only I can do!?" Naruto interrogated his Sensei with a contagious excited smile.

"With the amount of Shadow Clones you can summon Naruto, I'm going to have you master the Lighting Release in a week. Ordinarily, I would limit the clones you would use, but apparently the mental strain of doing those missions shows you've got a strong mind that can handle the memory influx."

Naruto nodded eagerly, and soon they began their training.

What Kakashi taught him, was something he would put to good use.
"Only use it to protect your Village and Friends, never turn it on an ally, huh?" Naruto gazed into his ceiling. Lifting his right-hand Naruto channelled Chakra into it. A whirling sound filled his lonely apartment as the blonde gazed into the ball of Chakra that floated above his hand. The blonde had created this Jutsu by accident.

The blonde had only given it a simple name, reminiscent of what he thought about it. Perhaps he would use it soon. In the back of his mind, something was nagging about him about the Jutsu he created, the Genin just couldn't figure out what.

Naruto shook off his inner thoughts, today was a rest day, Kakashi had also given the team the day off from their missions. Apparently, no new D-Rank's had been issued yet. Courtesy of Naruto taking all the ones he could yesterday. As such, the blonde didn't get dressed in his Orange jumpsuit and instead was in Civilians clothes. Leaving his Hitai-ate on his dresser, the blonde made his way outside his apartment complex. The Genin wore a white t-shirt with a black jacket over the top of it. A simple pair of loose-fitting blue jeans with his regular blue sandals.

It was safe to say, no one would recognise Naruto without his usual get up on. After all, he had worn it so much, some people thought it was part of his skin. A shiver inducing thought that truly was. The blonde was walking through one of the many gated walkways around the Village. It was the middle of the afternoon and Naruto had only come out to buy some groceries for his dinner tonight. His musings about what the blonde should eat for today were cut short when he sensed someone behind him. Looking out the corner of his eye, Naruto spotted a… square rock?

His eyes narrowing in exasperation Naruto really thought Konohamaru had learned to improve his disguises from the last time they met. Naruto often wondered why Konohamaru was so inept at the Shinobi Arts for his age. He was a member of the Sarutobi Clan, Sasuke had better skills at Konohamaru's age than the kid did at the moment. Naruto abandoned his train of thought and thought it would be funny to lead them on for a bit.

The teen made his way through the back walkways, sometimes speeding up sometimes not. After five minutes, Naruto could hear multiple sounds of laboured breathing coming from the "rock". The blonde had his fun and decided to stop it. Faster than the three kids could react, Naruto went up and kicked the disguise, only for it to explode into smoke.

"Eh? It was a Henge?" Naruto thought bewildered. Even he was better at the Henge by himself at that age.

The three kids spluttered before making their introduction. Naruto watched it all with a gaze akin to embarrassment and disappointment. Before long, the young Genin was casually chatting with them.

"Hey, hey, Naruto-Nii-chan!"

"What is it, Konohamaru?"

"Play Ninja with us! It's been like, ages since you have!" Konohamaru exclaimed excitedly waving his arms about in a gesture Naruto couldn't understand. Before Naruto could even respond, someone's voice interrupted them.

"Eh? A Ninja playing Ninja?" Naruto turned to face Sakura. She looked pissed off and dejected about something. Naruto didn't even know that was possible. Truly, people surprise him every day. What Naruto hadn't known was that moments earlier Sakura had tried to ask Sasuke out on a date, but he had shot her down, again. The lone Uchiha also told the girl that he believed her abilities were lesser than Naruto's. And she took that personally.

This was what brought her to the current situation. Konohamaru looked between the two of them. His Young and corrupted mind only drawing one conclusion.

"Naruto-Nii-Chan! You sly man you! Is this your… you know?" Konohamaru held up his pinkie finger. Naruto looked at Konohamaru like he was an idiot. In what realm could you even get that from their brief stare with each other. But alas, the Prankster King and Sakura Lover must play his part.

"Eh? Uh, well… I guess you could say that!" Naruto started to laugh in embarrassment thinking of that. The embarrassment was the only real thing he was displaying at the moment. He would rather blow up Ichiraku's than ever think of dating Sakura. The pink haired girl looked between the two boys in disgust.

"With Naruto? Ew, you must be joking kid! There's no way in hell I would ever get with someone as dopey as Naruto!" The girl bonked Konohamaru on the head, causing tears to spring to the edge of his eyes. Sakura began to walk away, and Konohamaru not even caring if she was in ear shot or not complained to Naruto.

"Ah! Nii-chan! There's no way that boorish big forehead girl is your girlfriend, she's more like an ogre!"

Naruto didn't know whether to think if Konohamaru was an idiot or he just had a shitload of testicles. "Oh, well would you look at that, Killing Intent is being directed my way, I wonder who it could possibly be." Naruto drawled out in his head as he saw Sakura turn around in a berserker state. She started chasing Konohamaru who was screaming for his life. Naruto just let out a sigh. This was supposed to be his rest day, a time of recuperation.

Naruto's thoughts were cut short as he heard Konohamaru yell out in pain, as well as gasping from what sounded like Sakura. Immediately, Moegi and Udon left his side to good look at what was happening. Naruto was going as well, but he would rather stay in the shadows for the moment and see what was going on. Taking his perch on one of the trees overlooking the small walkway, Naruto observed from behind the two mysterious figures. Naruto noted that one of them was a girl.

The other person, who was holding Konohamaru by his scarf, from their body shape and from the voice could be identified as a male.

"Mind watching where you go, you shitty brat." The stranger churned out at a regular volume; malice could definitely be heard in his tone. Sakura looked scared stiff and was saying it was her fault. The strangers grip tightened on Konohamaru's scarf, which caused the young Academy student to paddle him in the gut with his feet.

"Oh? Still got some fight in ya punk? Alright let's have a little bit of fun then."

"Stop it! You'll get in trouble later if you keep this up!" The girl warned her comrade. The guy turned towards her, which allowed Naruto to see some of his face. "Is that make-up?" The blonde thought to himself before focusing in again. He wasn't gonna judge the guy if he liked dolling himself up like that.

"It's fine isn't it? I'll finish before the strict one comes!" The make-up guy made to swing his fist at Konohamaru which forced Naruto into action. Using a Shunshin Naruto appeared between the girl and the guy with the bandaged mop of hair on his back.

"I'd advise you to stop that, unless you want yourself executed for trying to assault the Hokage's Grandson."

Naruto noticed how the guy in front of him, and the girl behind him tensed up. Apparently, he had moved so fast they hadn't noticed. The guy in front unceremoniously dumped Konohamaru flat on his ass, whilst the Academy student retreated back to his friends and with Sakura.

"Now, state your purpose for entering the Village. You may be from the Hidden Sand, a known Ally, but the Treaty clearly states you can't just wander into allied nations without purpose. Is it a mission?"

Naruto pressed a Kunai into the guys neck, whilst his Shadow Clones was doing the same to the girl behind him. She was the only reason he knew that they were from Sunagakure. He had seen her Hitai-ate around her neck. Whilst he still hadn't fully seen the guy in front of him. Speaking of whom, the guy still wasn't talking.

"I said, state your purpose, all three of you!" Naruto directed a pointed glare towards the tree to their left. From one branch, was Konoha's own Uchiha Sasuke, and behind him was a boy with a gourd, red hair and a tattoo with the Kanji for love on his forehead.

Shock and fear. Those were the reactions Naruto observed from the duo from Sand when they realised that boy was there too. "Clearly, he's atop the pecking order." Naruto observed.

"Kankuro, Temari, you're an embarrassment to the village." The boy spoke in a deep and slow voice. Clearly his balls dropped, Naruto lamented. He was still stuck with his preteen voice for the moment. Without further ado Naruto dispelled his Shadow Clone who was holding the admittedly attractive girl, Temari, and removed his Kunai from Kankuro's neck, joining back up with the rest of his Konoha residents.

"To lose control of yourself in a fight Kankuro, how unsightly." The redhead chided the make-up wearing Shinobi with no care for the person in question. "Why do you think we came to this Village in the first place?"

"L-Listen Gaara, t-they starte-"

"Shut up, I'll kill you."

The red head, Gaara, clearly had no issue with killing his own, if that killing intent behind that statement wasn't faked. Even more so by the fact that Kankuro broke out into a cold sweat and was trembling from head to toe. His two teammates began to apologise to him whilst Naruto eyed him up.

"Yeah, he's definitely their leader, what's with his eyes?" Naruto pondered until Gaara locked eyes with him.

"Sorry to you guys." Unannounced the redhead began to turn into sand before he appeared in between Kankuro and Temari. A Sand Shunshin, the blonde deduced.

"To be able to sneak up on Temari and Kankuro like that, along with that speed… He's good." Gaara evaluated Naruto and the actions he took. The blonde also used Analyse on Gaara.

Naruto quickly cooled his expression, it would seem this guy was more than he let on, way more. As they all stood off, Naruto cleared his throat again. He had been trying to deduce their purpose here this whole time. If it was a mission, then Kankuro would not have tried to assault Konohamaru.

"You lot, you're here for the Chunin Selection Exams, aren't you?" Despite having heard no word of them being held, Naruto thought that was the only possible reason for their being here. Even Gaara had said that they were here for something that wasn't trying to pummel little kids. A strong breeze danced it's way through the area they were in, causing Naruto's hair to ruffle about. Because of his training, and the fact he wasn't in the usual Orange outfit, Naruto looked a lot different than normal.

"Well, this one's a hottie." Temari evaluated him in her head.

"Yeah." Gaara replied dully. Naruto and Gaara stared at each other once again. The young Jinchuriki could see something in this guy. Something that reminded him of himself.

"You, what's your name." Gaara queried in his usual monotone, whilst looking solely at Naruto.

"Uzumaki Naruto. And you?"

"Gaara of the Desert." Naruto smirked towards Gaara.

"Not you, the cute one in blonde." Temari blushed at this but still replied.

"Temari of the Desert."

In all honesty, Temari seemed like more of a kunoichi than Sakura or any girl his age had ever been. And he liked that. That self-driven nature. That confidence. That beauty. That was everything a Kunoichi should be. Naruto smiled at her to which she smiled back.

"I look forward to seeing you then, at the Chunin Exams."

With that said, the trio from Sand left. With all that done, Sasuke finally hopped down from the tree he had been perched in. Sakura's brain also rebooted, as it had stopped ever since Naruto appeared. Those things he did, seemed more like something Sasuke would have done. Not the Naruto she knew. But Sakura only really knew one way to deal with her turbulent emotions, and that was to shout at Naruto.

"Oi, Naruto-baka! Quit trying to act like-"

"And also, you three, stop spying on us." This time, Sakura and Sasuke looked towards the direction Naruto was looking at to see three other Shinobi with Hitai-ate that had a musical note on them. With their presence known; the three bolted. Naruto turned to face Sakura and the rest again.

"With all that done with, today's my day off, so I'm going to enjoy it. See you tomorrow, Sakura, Sasuke. Stay safe Konohamaru."

In a large undecorated room in the Hokage Tower, was Sarutobi Hiruzen himself along with all the other Jonin in the village at the moment. The reason they were here was because a Hawk was sent flying over Konoha. That was a message to the Jonin saying the Hokage wanted to meet with them to discuss something. The subject itself was something they could all make an educated guess at.

The last person finally showed up, to no one's surprise it was Kakashi, but at least he wasn't three hours late. Only 10 minutes this time.

"I assume you all know why I've gathered you here." Sarutobi began, dragging a hefty plume of smoke from his pipe.

"As I thought, so it's really time then, for the Chunin Exams?" A olive-skinned man with a goatee queried their aging leader. The Hokage nodded curtly, which prompted a few to start talking among themselves.

"This year, we have three new teams, so I would like to ask you three, Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma. What actions will you take?"

The three Jonin's looked among each other. With Kakashi going up first and making a Unison Sign.

"The Kakashi led Team Seven, consisting of Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura. I hereby nominate these three to take part in the Chunin Selection Exams."

With that said and done, Kurenai Yuuhi, Jonin-sensei of Team 8 stepped forward and made the same handsign as Kakashi.

"The Kurenai led Team Eight, consisting of Inuzuka Kiba, Hyuga Hinata and Aburame Shino. I also nominate these three."

Finally, the man with the goatee and the cigarette in his mouth, Sarutobi Asuma, Jonin-sensei of Team 10 stepped forward and made the Unison Sign.

"The Asuma led Team Ten, consisting of Akimichi Choji, Nara Shikamaru and Yamanaka Ino. I too nominate these three for the Chunin Exams."

AN: Yeah, that's right I can work fast too. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed. Also stop getting hung up on that stuff I said in the AN on Chapter 2, I admit, I was a teeny bit salty. I've also never claimed my own story was a work of God itself. I'm just trying my best here.

Don't care much for reviews. Some Giga-Chad just left me a review for potential stuff and all that. Don't really care too much, that's your ideas man put it in your story. Let me imagine that Konoha has some trees growing through the village, that's so much more cooler than just running on rooftops. Only Mirror's Edge gets to make that look cool. (I hope you all understand that none of that was ill-intentioned)

Adios.
