Eda knocked on the door to Luz's room.
"Hey kid, you decent?" Eda asked, "Because I know you and Boots downstairs have been going rounds lately. When can I expect to become a Grand Owl?"
Eda chuckled a little before stopping as she didn't hear Luz respond.
"Listen Kid, I know today is the... anniversary of when that stuff happened, but you can let it dictate your life."
There was still silence on the other end. Eda sighed and went back downstairs. It's hard to be a parent, especially when they aren't your actual child.
"Wait." Eda said, realizing something, "King!"
King came rushing to her.
"What?"
"Where's Raine?" Eda asked, "I have an important job for Them."
In Luz's room, Luz was sitting on the floor, hugging herself with her wings. Nineteen years old and she still shakes a little kid after a nightmare on this day. Every year this day, she can't help but think about what he did. The knife stabbing and going through her wings, the feeling of her bile sac being cut by it, the cold steel, she still remembers it. It took almost a year for her to use a butter knife after that. She was so out of it that she didn't hear the door open, it was locked so she didn't think anyone would get in, but she does live with a few expert thieves, so she shouldn't be surprised. She suddenly saw Raine sitting next to her, with a glass cup in Their prosthetic hand.
"Hi, Luz." Raine said, handing Luz the cup, "Are you okay?"
"What do you think?" Luz asked in a dejected tone.
Raine opened Their wings, which were an exact match of Luz's wings, and wrapped one around Luz.
"Luz, I know I haven't been there your whole life, and that's my biggest regret, but I am still your parent." Raine said, "Which means I know when you're upset."
"Of course I'm upset!" Luz said, "I can't fly! My magic is broken! I am literally a weak half-witch!"
Luz looked down and closed her eyes.
"Luz-"
"He almost completely severed my bile sac, he stabbed my wings to the point that I can't fly... what do I do now that I've lost the one thing I've wanted for so long." Luz said, taking a sip of the drink, "Ugh, this tastes horrible!"
"I know." Raine said, ruffling Luz's hair, "But I know there's one spell you're still capable of doing. One that I taught everyone in our family to do."
Luz made a small smile and whistled into the cup with making it change color. Luz took a sip of it and smiled. She leaned her head on Raine's shoulder, making the Bard witch smile.
'Parenting might be hard, but damn it feels so rewarding with moments like these.' Raine thought.
"Don't worry, my little bird, I will make sure nothing happens to you." Raine said, kissing Luz's head, "You know, I've always thought that the reason a witch's Bile Sac is on the heart because the stronger the heart, the stronger the magic."
"Why are you telling me this?" Luz asked.
"Because, I think your magic will come back, you just need to remove the fear, the anger, that's been clouding your heart." Raine said, "When you finally are able to find out how to do that, how to return to the girl you once were, your magic will be stronger than anyone else's. That shouldn't be hard for you, you have the biggest heart I've ever seen."
"Thanks, Nini." Luz said.
'It's nice to have one parent with me.'
Elsewhere, Coven Troops were beginning to head towards the Owl House, with Belos with them. He wanted a more... hands on approach this time.
'They shall feel the wrath of the Titan.' He thought.
As he was doing that, Hunter was being stealthy while going through his uncle's private study. There was something going on and he didn't trust it.
"Alright, let's see what there is to see." He said.
He began to look around and found a book on a desk. He grabbed it and began to open it, wondering what he will find in it, hopefully it was something good.
It ain't going to be good. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
