A few days later...
The duo was travelling through the streets of Waddle Dee-populated town. The day was peaceful, and the residents saluted them at every turn. The duo were getting used to them, and loving their innocent and clumsy demeanor. It was no wonder that King Dedede loved having them around.
Suddenly, a crack in the sky appeared. It grew and widened, shocking the duo. "What on Arceus-" exclaimed Lucario.
Out of the crack dropped down an enormous ten-story-tall bear, landing in a field to the north of their location and shaking the ground upon its landing. Looking at their direction, it let out a deafening roar. When it turned, the duo could see that it had a giant backpack on its back. Ryu and Lucario looked at each other, wondering what this ridiculous creature was and if it was truly an enemy.
A second later, a dragon popped out of the backpack and breathed a torrent of flame at the sky before going back in.
The creature flashed its enormous claws at them and rushed over to them in an attempt to crush them with one of its front paws.
Lucario looked visibly nervous and looked to Ryu for help. He could feel that this thing was clearly out for blood, yet at the same time, somehow scared.
Meanwhile, the dragon appeared to be strangely protective of the bear. As the two creatures closed in on Ryu and Lucario, the two could see that the bear was wearing a jagged and broken shark tooth necklace around its neck, and that the furry brown beast had… blue eyes?
It didn't take long for Ryu to recognize who he was up against.
"It appears that something has happened to the bear and bird duo. I wonder if it has anything to do with that giant winged creature that attacked Master Hand."
"It doesn't matter. What does matter is that we have to stop them before they wreck this whole town. They're clearly not on their right minds."
Nodding, Ryu charged towards the giant creature, with Lucario trailing closely behind.
The bear dug its claws into the ground, ripping apart pieces to all but guarantee the duo of Fighters getting crushed.
Arriving at the vicinity of their giant enemy, the duo stared them down, trying to come up with a way to take it down. It was far larger than anything that either of them had faced before.
Far away, Mumbo Jumbo stared at the ceiling, he then got a feeling that his help was needed. So he got up from his carved skull throne, tightened his thresh skirt around his waist, then summoned his magical staff and used his custom teleport system to…
Show up at some place that had small colorful creatures running about in all directions.
But then a roar caught his attention - down the way was a massive bear and dragon.
"Ahah." Mumbo declared, happy that he had found his friends, despite the situation they were now in. "Do not worry, bear and bird, Mumbo- ". The shaman caught himself and held back a sigh. 'Must remember the teaching.' "…- I shall save you." Mumbo hurried over to where Ryu and Lucario were.
Hearing a new sound nearby, Ryu and Lucario spotted the skull-headed man next to them.
"Master Mumbo!" said Ryu, surprised and bowing to him. "I didn't expect you to appear so suddenly."
Mumbo gave a friendly nod to the two and then silently approached the massive creatures. He wordlessly raised his staff and began chanting in an unknown language.
The hulking monsters began to slow down on their rampage. The bear landed on his rear and began nodding off, but not before letting off a loud yawn that threatened the eardrums of those present. On the other hand, the dragon, feeling her eyes droop, headed home to the bear's backpack and tucking herself away.
The duo of martial artists watched in amazement as the threat was quickly subdued by Mumbo Jumbo.
The shaman continued to chant until the creatures were out cold and he lowered his staff. "Now we must enter their minds. Fix what is wrong."
It was Lucario's turn to ask. "With all due respect, aren't you able to fix them directly? You know a lot more about them than we do."
Mumbo shook his head. "No, that is not possible. Thing which affects them, is deep in their minds." The shaman pointed his staff at the two sleeping creatures. "To help them, three of us must enter their minds, to stop the nightmare."
"It is an honor to have you accompany us in such a venture, Master Mumbo." said Lucario respectfully.
Mumbo bowed to Lucario. "Of course." He then stepped closer to the bear and dragon and started chanting again. Ryu and Lucario would start to feel more and more tired as the chanting continued.
Eventually the two would fall to the ground, having been enraptured by the spell. Mumbo made the necessary preparations himself as he joined them in slumber, all three soon finding themselves in a familiar, yet not so familiar, location….
