Arizona POV

Callie has been quiet ever since we got to the diner. Maybe I took up too much of her time. It doesn't seem like she wants to be here. She keeps moving around the food on her plate.

"Hey."

Callie looks up at me and waits for me to say something.

"I know I probably took up a lot of your time today. So if you want we can go."

"No, Arizona that's not it."

"Then what's wrong? You keep pushing your salad around, I told you, you should've gotten a burger instead." I joked trying to make light conversation.

"Haha, yeah you're right. A burger would've been way better."

"So what's bothering you?"

"Sorry I'm just thinking."

Taking a sip of my water, putting it down in the table and put my hands together. "Callie I'm sorry, I know you probably had a lot of work today, and I took up way too much of your time, but I do appreciate all your help. I know this was just a bet. But you truly did help me. Anyways I'll take you back now."

Dropping my napkin I stand up, but Callie grabs my hand and pulls me back down. "Sorry, it's just I don't know how to say this without sounding a little creepy."

"How about you just say it?"

Callie looks at me and just smiles. "I can't believe I met someone like you."

"Huh?"

"I mean your incredible Arizona."

"Umm thanks?"

"No. I mean it. You're doing everything you love. The people around you, they just adore you. I've never met anyone like you."

As if I couldn't like her anymore she goes and gives me probably the highest compliment I ever gotten. Not only that I can tell she genuinely means it. Letting out a small breath.

"Calliope...people they love and respect you. You're strong, caring and thoughtful."

"Thanks Arizona."

Deciding it's best to change the topic instead of something so heavy, because if she keeps looking at me with those beautiful brown eyes, I might just end up falling for her even more.

"That wasn't creepy at all. Very sweet if you ask me." I say honestly.

"So why a lawyer?"

"Well my moms a lawyer and growing up, I was really fond of her. Eventually it felt natural, and I followed in her footsteps."

"You know, you're very humble. You never speak about work, and how much of a hot shot you really are. I had no clue you owned the practice everyone works at."

"Who told you? Let me guess Mark?"

"Yup, you got it right on the nose."

"Well to be honest I don't speak about it, because there's not much to talk about, and most people get bored from all the lawyer talk, so there's that."

"You should be proud. You help people everyday. You fight for them, you speak for them, it's amazing."

"Thanks Ari. That's really nice of you to say."

Just then something pops in my head. "This weekend Teddy was telling me about this Broadway show that's in town. Would you like to go? I mean never mind. Not that much people are into.."

"Are you kidding me? I would love to go!" Callie says with the biggest smile on her face. Damn that smile of her.

"Really? You'd wanna go?"

"Hell yeah, I always said if I didn't become a lawyer, maybe I could've became a singer or an actor. Just for fun I applied for Juilliard my senior year in high school, and I actually got accepted."

"Wait hold on.." I say with my hands up. "Can you sing?"

"Ummm, maybe." She says shyly.

"You're gonna have to sing for me Callie. I'm so serious!!!"

Callie POV

Honestly there isn't one thing I wouldn't do for this women in front of me. Hell I took half a day off just to be around her. And right now she's so excited, I think she literally would burst.

"Maybe one day. I don't just sing for anyone. You know?" I joked.

"Calliope.. I'm not just anyone. I'm your best friend." She said folding her arms.

I can't help but laugh how cute she is.

"My best friend huh?"

"Well, I'm just saying I'm a great friend. You would be lucky to have me as a best friend."

"Mhmm. If you say so." I say picking up my cup of water.

"Well. I should really get you back to work. I can't keep you all day now. Can I?" She laughed.

I wish she could, but she's right. Reality is calling me, and I have to get back. Arizona stands and pays the bill. I tried paying for it, but she wasn't having it. Soon we pull up to her office, and I jump out. Before heading back to my car, Arizona hops out and leans against her driver side.

"Thank you for helping me today."

"Of course. I actually enjoyed seeing what an event planner as yourself does. And it was actually refreshing. Maybe one day you can be my personal assistant."

"I don't think Erica would like that." Arizona says

"Erica?"

"Uh yeah. Isn't she your personal assistant already." Arizona says a little to rough for my liking, and instead of asking her why she's being so frank. I let it go.

"Well maybe I can make an exception for you. I'll see you later Arizona." I say giving her a hug, and she feels amazing. The scent that she wears is so intoxicating, I could drown in it and die a happy person.

"So you'll text me?"

"What was it you said Callie? Oh yeah the phone works both ways." She teased. "But yes I will text you information about this weekend."

Walking into my office, I sit on my chair and contemplate this morning and afternoon. Arizona Robbins, she really is beautiful inside and out. When I'm around her it's different. Like work doesn't matter, my problems don't matter. It's a feeling I never felt before. The sound of knocking brings me out of my thoughts.

"You cancelled all your morning meetings?" Erica asked with a handful of paperwork.

"Yes, something came up."

"Really? You know you have all these important meetings and you cancelled them?"

"Yes, is there a problem?"

"Is it because of that girl, what was her name? Alabama? Alaska? You never do this. And now everything is behind. You know how important those clients are.

"Arizona, and not that it's any of your business cause it's not. Let me remind you. I'm your boss, I do not need to explain any of my decisions to you. Do I make my self clear?" I say firmly.

Erica stands there frozen. She's never seen me talk like this to anyone, and normally I wouldn't. But when it comes to my life, my business. I don't need to explain to anyone.

"Yes, crystal."

"Erica, I didn't mean to yell at you. Can you just hand me my paperwork?"

Erica hands me all the stacks of paper and walks back to her desk. Just then Mark walks in. "Woah what was that about?"

"What was what about?"

"Erica, she grouchier than normal."

"I'm not sure. She might have a point though. I've been neglecting my clients."

"Torres stop right there. No you haven't."

"I mean I rearranged my whole day, just so I could what? Be Arizona assistant. I don't know, I think I need to refocus."

"Torres you are the most focused person, I know. Look it was just one day, and besides who wouldn't change their schedule for her. She's hot."

I give Mark a look to shut up.

"That's not what I mean. I know you like her Callie. I see how you are when you're around her. I've never seen you smiling or laughing so much."

"Arizona. She's amazing. I do like her, but I don't know."

"You don't know what?"

"I don't think I could give her what she needs. I'm so busy at the firm. Everyone else I dated could never handle it. They always said I was too busy or my priorities aren't in the right place or that I don't even care."

"Did you try? Why don't you let Arizona decide instead of making up her mind for her?"

"I would rather be her friend than nothing at all."

"Also you forgot, you own this place. You get to decide how you delegate the work. It's not just you Torres. You built this so you could help others, you have a 113 lawyers waiting to help."

"Okay, okay. I forgot how smart you were." I joked.

"I mean I did pass the bar." Mark joked.

"Still I know a lot of incompetent lawyers who passed the bar. God knows how, but they did." I laughed.

"So how was it?" Mark says taking a seat.

"It was refreshing. We're gonna go out this Saturday. To get this, a musical. I didn't think there was anyone who really cared for them."

"Really that's good. We all know you love them. I think it's great that you found someone to go to them with."

"Mark, we're just going as friends."

"I know. You two make it very clear. The whole friend thing. Anyways I better get back to work."

Arizona POV.

"Okay, I like her."

"Umm duh, we all knew that." April says sitting down on the chair across of my desk. And Teddy sitting on the couch on the other end of the room.

"I think you should give it a chance." Teddy says. "Seems like you folks enjoy hanging out."

"I'm not sure."

"What aren't you sure about? Did Lauren fuck you up that bad, that you're scared to even try."

I knew it would be Teddy to put me in my place, no matter how hard I try to hide the fact that I am indeed scared of trying again. Especially with someone amazing like Callie.

"Yes." I breathed out. "I thought that Lauren was it. I know as dumb as it was I thought I would've ended up with my highschool sweetheart. Even though majority of the time it was shit. I thought that was it, and I was okay with it."

"Arizona, you know you deserved better. If you didn't stick to your dreams when she tried to talk you out of it. You wouldn't have such a thriving business." April added.

"I know. I know she wasn't good for me."

"She told you to be an accountant. She told you how dumb it was to think people actually hired people to plan parties."

"I know, but I still tried. What I'm saying is I loved her so hard even though our relationshi was empty, and when we broke up it crushed me."

"Okay and?" Teddy says signaling me to explain myself.

"And if I can love the wrong person that hard and still end up broken. I can't imagine how it will feel when Callie ends up hurting me."

"Why is she gonna hurt you?" April asked.

"She's not...Ughhh..." I say frustrated knowing what I'm saying makes no sense.

"I think you take a chance with love. Like you need to decide if the person is worth it. No matter what there's no safety net when it comes to love. You just gotta go for it." Teddy says smiling.

"Easy coming from you. You're so in Love with Mark." I laughed.

"I am. I really am. I didn't think I would be considering his past and how big of a man-whore he was, but he's incredible. He's always there no matter what. He makes me laugh till my stomach hurts. The sex is amazing. He's... great."

"Woah.. okay. I am happy for you. I think Callie and I...I think we could be something amazing, but for now I think getting to know her and being friends is enough. Eventually maybe."

GENERAL POV

The two women truly enjoyed there evening. Callie told Arizona since she paid for the musical. She'll treat for dinner, and they had a great time. Learning more about Arizona's childhood. Callie wouldn't have guessed that Arizona came from a military household, because how happy and perky she was, but thinking back to how Arizona runs her business it makes sense. She's very type-A.

So when it can to the musical. To their surprised they both seen this one already. So they sang their hearts out along with the cast and crew.

"So you do have an incredible voice." Arizona says to Callie as they walked down the boardwalk.

"Im surprised you could hear me with you singing so loud." Callie says teasing Arizona.

Rolling her eyes they take a seat on the bench. They sit in comfortable silence.

The days leading up to Saturday Callie had to sit and think about if she could consider dating again. Especially if it was Arizona. She knew they had chemistry like nobody she ever met. Every single time Arizona left, Callie felt a longing like she never wanted the moment to end. Including right now. She feels it.

Callie puts her arm around Arizona and pulls her close into her. Arizona leans into it. Truly enjoying being this close to her. They both know their friends, but they also know there's more to it.

"Callie..."

"Mhmm."

"I'm not sure how to go about this. But.."

Leaning out of the embrace, Arizona looks deep into Callie's eyes debating if she should put herself out there.

"I like you, and I think you like me too. I know we're just friends and all, but I think I would like to eventually become more."

Callie sits there, honestly she's surprised that Arizona feels the same way.

"Umm.."

"But if you want to stay friends."

Callie puts a finger to Arizona's lips, shushing her. "No I think I'd like that too, but Arizona I want it to be clear. I am a very busy person. Some days you probably won't even see me, or even hear from me and I want you to know right off the bat."

"Calliope. We're both very busy. I don't need all of your attention, but look we can make time. We've done it all this week. I'm not saying let's jump into this and be girlfriends today. I'm saying let's continue to hang out with out all the sexual activities. Do things what we love, and maybe when the time is right. We date. Okay?"

"Okay, that sounds good. But.."

"But what?"

"No sexual activities?" Callie teases.

Arizona pulls out of the embrace and shoves Callie shoulder. "Calliope!!!"

"I'm just kidding. Hey this works." Callie says pulling me back into her arms. Arizona looks into Callie's eyes and for the first time in almost two months their lips connect and it's way better than they both can remember.

"I miss that." Callie admits leaning in for a second kiss. This time swiping her tongue across Arizona's bottom lip. Arizona obliges and before they know it, there both get lost into each other. Finally pulling apart they smile at each other.

"That was.. amazing." Arizona giggled.

So for the next few months, they hang out. Almost every weekend they do things together. Callie has slept over Arizona's apartment multiple times. Each time sleeping in the guest room. They both have to admit there's been moments where they wanna just say screw and fuck each other brains out, but they both know that the other person is worth more than sex. There has been a few occasions where they have had a good ol fashioned high school make out sessions. Soon, everyone around them started noticing how they would actually seem like a couple, whenever they invited one to a night out or to a dinner. They would quickly reply with "let me see what Arizona is doing" or "let me check if Callie has plans."

One day after an important case, Callie was heading back to her office, when Mark asked her to stop by his cubicle.

"Hey Sloan, what's up?"

Mark pulls out a small box, and inside there's a beautiful sapphire ring.

"Umm Mark, you know how I feel about marriage." She joked. "I'm guessing that's for Teddy."

"Im gonna ask Teddy to marry me." He smiled. "We've been together for almost 8 months and I know she's the one."

"Wow, that's amazing. You're really gonna do it? Get married?"

"I am. I'm so ready. Teddy she's understanding. She doesn't judge me. She's funny, intelligent."

"Well congratulations! I'm happy for you."

"Thanks Torres. I appreciate it. I wanted you to know first. Considering you're my best friend."

"So how are you gonna propose?"

"I'm gonna take her to dinner then to where we had our first kiss. Which was the park looking at Seattle Space Needle. Then I'm gonna get down on one knee and pop the question."

"That's beautiful. She's gonna love that."

"Yes, I hope so."

"Well I better get back to work, I have to go to the court house in a few hours. Then tonight Arizona making her famous spaghetti. Which isn't so famous since that's all she can cook." Callie joked.

"You two really getting comfortable huh?"

"Yeah, well she's my best friend." Callie says honestly.

"So when are you gonna ask her to be your girlfriend?"

"My girlfriend?"

To be honest the thought hasn't really crossed Callie's mind. The way things have been going, have been close to perfect. She doesn't wanna ruin whatever they have going on.

"Yes, I mean you two spend every moment you can together. You text all day. Why not make it official?"

"Well Mark. Labels aren't that important to me, and if Arizona needs me to ask her then, I just might. But for now it's perfect. But hey I really gotta go."

That night when Callie, got to Arizona's house, Arizona was jumping up and down and super excited.

"Calliope. Guess what!!"

"What?" Callie laughed at Arizona antics.

"Teddy just called and..."

"She's engaged." Callie laughs finishing her sentence.

Arizona stops and puts her hands on her waist. "Wait you knew?"

"Yes Mark told me. Did you forget he's my best friend." She teased.

"And you didn't tell me?" Arizona faked scoffed.

"You probably would let it slip when you were talking to Teddy or something and that might ruin his plan for a surprise." Callie says honestly taking a sip of her red wine.

"I wouldn't have..."

Callie gives Arizona a knowing look. "Okay, you're right but I wouldn't have told her."

"I know, I know. Let's eat. I'm starving. Can't wait to have your "famous" spaghetti for 100 time."

"Hey if you wanna cook be my guest."

"Maybe I will one of these days. I am in fact a great cook."

"Yeah, yeah whatever Torres. I'll believe it when I see the evidence."

Callie has truly come to enjoy everything about Arizona including the part where she tries to use Lawyer jargon in every part of her conversation. Sometimes it doesn't make sense but nonetheless it's adorable. As they sit there together, Arizona can't help but think why hasn't Callie made a move. Arizona has already made it clear that she wants more, but why hasn't Callie asked her to be her girlfriend. They already do so much things that couples do. Deciding maybe this is a conversation for another day, the two enjoy their dinner.
