The group was led out of the cave, where they happened upon a place called Jinjo Village. Various colored houses were strewn about the landscape (including a destroyed grey house). A royal palace was on a small hill in the middle of the village, but that wasn't what they were here for.

Bottles led the group to his house, which was in a carved out cave near the back of the village. Inside, the group saw three kids, Bottles' wife…

And a bear and bird playing poker against each other at opposite ends of the table.

As soon as they noticed the new arrivals, the players looked at them in horror, as if they'd seen a group of ghosts. At once, they all jumped and hid in the furthest corner they could find.

All except Banjo and his bird companion Kazooie.

The duo stood in front of them defiantly. However, they could see that they were just as scared as the rest. Banjo's arms and legs were shaking, and Kazooie looked like she wanted to fly right out of the backpack.

"I-I-I won't let you hurt them, Mingy. Nor you, Tattles" declared the quivering bear.

"Or whoever your new robo-friends are! We-we'll turn you into a bunch of scraps!" followed up Kazooie, trying to mask her fear.

Mumbo gave Bottles a side glance. "Tattles?"

"I haven't been able to convince them. Perhaps the three of you can help?" The short-sighted mole asked Mumbo, Ryu and Lucario.

Mumbo nodded, then turned to show B&K that he was currently unarmed. He decided to go back to his old way of speaking. "Mumbo and companions mean bear and bird no harm. Mumbo and companions want to help bear and bird take down ugly witch."

"Y-yeah, right! Next you tell us that we're just dreaming or something! Y-you can't fool us!"

Ryu tried approaching the trembling duo, only to be forced back by a shower of eggs, courtesy of Kazooie. "D-don't get any closer!" ordered Banjo, now holding Kazooie like a machine gun.

Before anyone could speak, they all heard the sound of moving machinery outside.

"W-what's going on? Is this another one of your friends, Mingy? Are the three you have here not enough?" complained Banjo.

"I'm afraid I must insist that we're not machines, Banjo!" said Ryu, trying to reason with the bear.

"But whatever's out there clearly is" commented Lucario as the noise grew louder "I can't sense its aura"

Then everyone saw what the source of the noise was when a sizeable shadow covered the entrance. It was green, bipedal and covered in metallic scales from head to robotic toe except for its giant belly, which was one simple metal plate shaped like a gorilla's chest. Its body was so large that it wasn't able to pass through the door.

"Is that-" asked Kazooie.

"-Robo-K. Rool?" completed Banjo.

After several unsuccessful attempts to pass through the door, the machine ran back and straight through it, taking a chunk of the wall with it.

Mumbo walked up to the thing and wacked it with his staff. "Magic might not work…" He turned to Banjo and Kazooie. "Help us defeat machine, then we speak more."

Robo-K. Rool raised his hand and smacked the wizard away, which sent him crashing to a nearby wall and knocking him out, to everyone's shock and anger.

"Mumbo!" called out Banjo.

The robot made a crude and metallic noise while shaking and holding its stomach with its hand. It took everyone a second to realize that it was laughing.

But its laughter stopped when it heard "Shokunetsu!" and felt burning in its stomach, accompanied by a strange force pushing it back, courtesy of an aura sphere.

It only moved back a single foot. Before it could launch any kind of counterattack, it was met by a kick on the stomach by Ryu and one in the face by Lucario, which dented the metal plating.

Yet, the robot barely budged, and this time it was ready. With unexpected speed, he grabbed the Street Fighter and, raising him up with both hands, pile-drove him into the floor, all the while the Aura Pokemon tried to stop him.

Seeing this, Lucario decided that the current strategy would not work. Perhaps chipping away at a distance is the best tactic. And so, he jumped back and charged a more powerful aura sphere.

The machine responded by activating some hidden thrusters in its back and launching itself forward at ridiculous speed, hitting Lucario with its massive stomach before he could react, launching him backwards.

Bottles watched as Mumbo was thrown into the wall. The shaman didn't get up, which left the mole to turn to whom he considered friends. "Whatever happened to your courage? That drive to help others and fight for justice?"

"B-but what can we do?" asked the bear.

"Y-yeah, Squinty! Why don't you do anything?" added the bird.

Bottles just sighed in defeat.

In the meantime, Ryu dug himself off the ground and faced the robot again. It responded by turning around and pulling out a blunderbuss from his back and firing it. Ryu sidestepped it and ran towards the machine, delivering a flying kick, denting its stomach even further, but otherwise not bothering it.

Lucario, on the other hand, had gotten back up and summoned a bone staff. With it, he attempted to sweep its leg from behind, but only manage to move it a few inches.

The machine responded by first hitting Ryu with a quick, rocket-powered uppercut and then turn around to face Lucario. The Pokemon then attempted to hit the robot in the chin, which resulted in its head getting raised up. He then lowered it, looked at Lucario with malice, and slammed him in between his hands.

"They're both going to die if you don't do something - I'm going to die!" Bottles pleaded and he flinched at the various injuries the man and dog were sustaining.

Banjo and Kazooie both winced in pain at every hit the two martial artists endured.

Banjo took off his backpack. "Kazooie, please come out" he asked gently. In response, the breegull poked her head out.

"We need to do something, don't we?" she said.

"Yeah..." he replied, lowering his head "we need to. We can't be afraid anymore"

Kazooie opened her mouth wide, as if realizing something. "Why are we so afraid? We never were before."

Banjo raised his head and widened his eyes in response. "You're right! We've been able to defeat all kinds of foes before! Heck, we beat Grunty twice!"

"Yeah! This is nothing in comparison! Let's show this bucket of bolts what for!" exclaimed a now-cheerful Kazooie.

"Definitely!" responded Banjo gladly, putting his backpack back on.

"HEY TUBBY!" called out Kazooie.

Robo-K. Rool turned and looked at them menacingly. He then immediately got hit by a high-powered, high-speed Wonderwing, sending him speeding backwards and into a wall.

"You forgot about us" said Banjo triumphantly.

"Yes!" Bottles cheered. "I knew you two could do it! Now beat up so we can go after the witch!"

"You got it!" said Banjo happily and full of adrenaline. "Hey, Kazooie?"

"Hm?"

"Could you give me one of your grenades?"

The breegull pooped out a grenade egg in response, which Banjo promptly picked up.

Meanwhile, Robo-K. Rool picked himself back up and, enraged, roared loudly.

Using this opportunity, Banjo ran forward and stuffed the explosive into the robot's wide-open mouth.

"Dumb bosses" commented Banjo, shaking his head "they always act the same."

Mumbo woke up and noticed that Banjo and Kazooie were fighting the metal creature. He attempted to get up from where he had been thrown against the wall, but he was too sore to move. The shaman instead gave the two a shaky thumbs up in response.

Ryu saw how the bear and bird duo were now the ones clashing with the robot. He nodded solemnly and respectfully. It is your fight now, Banjo and Kazooie. I will not interfere.

Lucario closed his eyes and felt the two's auras. What were once two small and timid kindlings were now roaring fires, which lit up and inspired others'. Bottles', Mumbo's, Ryu's and even his own felt stronger as a result. The Pokemon gave a small smile.

The robot, now stunned from the explosion, fell to the floor stunned. Banjo followed up by jumping high and Beak Bombing straight into the its already-damaged stomach. It shattered on contact, and the duo jumped back to check out what'd happen next.

Without the protective stomach plate, a giant crystal embedded in the robot's stomach was exposed.

"Looks like we found the clanker's weak spot!" laughed Kazooie. "What do you say, Banjo? Rapid egg?"

"Rapid egg!" he said, pulling Kazooie out of his backpack and holding her horizontally, with one hand on her neck and another on her stomach. She began to fire eggs from her mouth at high speed, hitting the giant crystal and damaging it.

The robot, now recovered from its confusion, realized what was happening and stood back up. It immediately activated the thrusters on its back, which had moved and were now aiming upwards, and shot up. It attempted to land on top of the duo, but they deftly moved back and avoided the attack. Now safe, they continued firing eggs.

The machine now tried to swipe at them with its claws, but they avoided each attack with ease, and kept firing more and more eggs as soon as they were safe.

The crystal, having sustained too much damage, was no longer able to power Robo-K. Rool and it deactivated as a result. It immediately began glowing intensely.

"It's going to blow!" cried out Bottles, covering his eyes.

Banjo knew what he needed to do. Grabbing Robo-K. Rool by the legs, he began to spin him around, faster and faster. As soon as it gained enough speed, and, aiming towards the hole it made in the house's entrance, he released his grip. It flew away at a ridiculous speed and, after a few seconds, they heard a loud BOOM in the distance.

With their job now done, Banjo and Kazooie did a happy little dance ending with a bow and a "Guh huh".
