Arizona POV

"I think this would be the perfect spot to get a tan? What do you think?" Teddy says.

"Yes, I think this will do babe." Mark smiled putting down the mat.

I have to say after that little talk with Callie, I can't help but feel good. I mean it shows that she cares right? Like I always knew she cares for me as a friend but after that, I can't help but think maybe she does like me a little more then she lets on.

"Arizona you wanna go in?"

"Sure, let's go Teds."

Callie POV

"Torres you're staring."

I think my favorite color is sky blue. Holy shit, if Arizona wanted to get every person attention on this beach, I have to say she got it.

"TORRES! You there?!" Mark says waving his hand right in front of my face.

"Yes, what's up?"

Passing me a beer, Mark sits on his towel. "I said you're staring."

"I can't help it. Have you seen her?"

"Yes, smoking hot."

"Dude chill."

"I know, I'm just agreeing with you. So what's going on with that?"

Being around Arizona truly makes me happy. I mean she makes every one happy.

"Mark, Arizona she's my best friend. I mean so are you, but she's different. I never had much friends who were girls. I was always around boys. Girls always came with drama. They're very judgmental, and you know once they find out I have dick, they automatically think I like them. But Arizona, she's different than everyone else. She doesn't judge me. She's the sweetest person. She never talks about anyone else."

"Okay that's sweet and all, but..."

"But what?"

"But you like her don't you?"

"You know I do, but I love our friendship. I can't ruin it."

"Torres, what are you scared of?"

"Me, I ain't scared." I scoffed.

"Did you forget I'm a lawyer, I can tell when you're lying."

"I don't think that has anything to do with being a lawyer, but what makes you think I'm scared?"

"Because you like her, everyone with eyes knows you both like each other, you guys hang out 24/7. She looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky. And you look at her like she created slice bread, and yet you still won't ask her out."

I mean I'm not blind. I know we like each other. We agreed that one day we could be more, but it just doesn't feel like the time.

"Okay, I'm gonna ignore all those terminologies, but I get it, I know we could be great together, it's just right now isn't the right time."

"Well when is it gonna be the right time? When she finally starts dating someone else, cause she can't wait for you forever."

"Arizona, she's not waiting for me."

"Okay, if you say so. What are you gonna do if she does?"

I've never really been a jealous person before, but if Arizona started dating someone else, then I'm not sure what I would do.

"Well she's free to do what she wants. I don't control her Mark." I say aloofly.

"If that's the case, then you should tell her." Mark says standing up and dusting the sand off. "I'm gonna go in, you wanna come with?"

"Nah, you go ahead. I'll come in a bit."

I continue, drinking my beer, and watching everyone on the beach. I look at a group of friends and smile, over to the right I see a family, deep in thought I can't help but think maybe one day I might have one of my own. The moment I decided to open my firm, I told myself, nothing would be as important. I knew I was gonna be dedicated, focused, and that everything else would take a back seat, but maybe that could change. Maybe. Bringing me out of my people watching, I hear her voice.

"You planning on drinking on the beach all day or are you gonna swim?" Arizona teased.

"I'm coming in, just hanging out that's all."

Arizona squeezes her hair in a ball and gathers all the water and splashes it in my face.

"Oh you're gonna get it." I laughed.

"Oh yeah what are you gonna do?" She says wetting my face again.

Putting my beer down, I stand up , and Arizona takes off running to the beach.

"Robbins, you better run." I said chasing her down.

Once she gets in the water, she starts swimming for dear life. What she doesn't know is that I'm a great swimmer. I catch up with her instantly and grab her.

"Callie..." she faked whined, getting out of my arms.

I can't help but laugh. We're both splashing each other with no regards who's around. It's just us in this moment.

"Okay, okay, you win." Arizona says with her hands up.

"Good that's what I thought." I laughed.

"That's not fair, I didn't know you could swim so fast." She says pulling while making that cute race I adore so much.

"Hey, life isn't fair sweetie." I teased.

"Yeah, you always say that." Arizona says quietly, looking off.

I wonder what that was about. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yes, just great." She smiled. Not one of her mega smiles just a little grin.

"So what's the plan for tonight?" Arizona says changing the subject.

"Umm probably have dinner and hang out."

"Sounds good."

Finally after three hours of hanging out, swimming, and wedding planning, we head back to my parents house.

Arizona POV

"Arizona you in here?"

"Yes, come in, I'm just braiding my hair. Teds."

Teddy walks in and takes a seat behind me taking over. "Here I'll do it."

"Thank you. I'm so sun burnt my arms hurt." I laughed.

"So you two looked like you were having a good time."

"Yeah." I breathed out.

"What's going on?"

Frustrated because I've been holding my feelings in for so long. I decide to share with Teddy.

"I think, I'm wasting my time."

"What do you mean?"

"I thought she might be unstressed in me but she doesn't do anything. We laugh, we tease, we flirt, but nothing. So now I know Callie, isn't interested in me as much as I'm interested in her."

"Did you talk to her about it?"

"No, and I'm not going to."

"Why not?" Teddy says stopping her actions and turning me to face her.

"Because, it shouldn't be me making the first move all the time. I told her how I felt and we had this talk like about a few months ago. We spend almost every day together, we talk constantly. We kiss, he'll you walked in on us. And If that's not a what couple do then I don't know Teddy."

"I think you should talk to her."

"No, I'm not gonna."

"Arizona, that's not fair."

"Life isn't fair Teddy." I scoffed, thinking those were the exact same words Callie said to me only hours ago.

"You're right, and if you wanna move on or do whatever you said you were gonna do then I support that."

"She's my best friend, and I think that's enough."

"Girls you ready for dinner?!" Lucia says knocking on my door.

"Yes, coming." We said together.

General POV

"Dinner was amazing. Thank you Lucia." Arizona smiles.

Lucia continues to hand out dessert to everyone at the table. "You folks are very welcome. So how's the planning going?"

"It's going great." Teddy smiled looking at Mark.

"Yeah, Arizona is on it. She already scheduled appointments with the florist when we come back. She also rented out the furniture we're gonna need. Also tomorrow we're gonna meet with the bakery." Mark says before taking a bite.

"Wait you ain't gonna make your own cake?" Aria asked.

"No, that is the last thing I wanna do on my wedding." Teddy laughs.

"Honey, Teddy here owns her own bakery. She made the best pastries I ever tasted in my life." Aria says.

"Thank you Aria. That means a lot."

"She's right babe, you're the best." Mark says putting his arm around Teddy.

"So Arizona, you own your own business as well." Carlos asked.

"Yes. I do. Once I graduated with my masters in business, I decided to open my shop."

"Wow, that's amazing. How long have you had your business?"

"Well I'm 24, so about 3 years."

"That's amazing, and your well established already."

"Wait, you're only 24." Aria asked.

"Yes, I just had a birthday."

"When?" Callie asked finally joining in the conversation.

"Last week." Arizona says shyly.

"And you didn't tell me?"

"Birthdays are just like any other days. I don't like them. Don't celebrate them. No big deal." Arizona says honestly. Not realizing how much it bothered Callie that she didn't know she continues eating her dessert.

"Wow, Umm. Okay?" Callie says passively. "Well, I just lost my appetite." Callie stands, walking away from the table.

"Uhh okay?" Arizona says looking at everyone at the table. She looks a Mark and he shrugs his shoulder. Then she looks at Aria.

"I have no idea." Aria whispered.

"I think I'm gonna go talk to her." Arizona says slowly standing.

"No, you sit. I'll go talk to her." Lucia says graciously.

Callie POV

I'm not sure why I'm so bothered that she didn't tell me it was her birthday, but I just know I couldn't sit there any longer. So I go to the one place, i used to hide at when I was younger.

"Calliope..."

"Mom?" I say looking down from the tree.

"Are you gonna make your mother climb up there or are you gonna come down?"

Climbing down from the tree, I walk over to the bench where my mom is now sitting. "How'd you know I was up there?"

"I'm your mother, I know everything."

"Mhmm." I say looking off.

"What's going on? Why are you so mad?"

"Mom..." I say not wanting to have this conversation. "I'm not mad."

"Okay. Then why are you so hurt?"

"I don't know."

"Is it because of Arizona?"

Of course it's because of her.

"No."

"Okay, you should know better than to lie to me."

"Mom, she never told me it was her birthday."

"Okay? And?"

"What do you mean and?"

"Calliope, you wouldn't care if it was anyone else. I'm sure you don't even know your own birthday."

"It's different."

"Is it because you're in love her?"

"Okay, mom lets not get crazy. I'm not in love with Arizona. It's just that I spend almost every day with her, and she never told me. She knows she's Important to me."

"Does she? Have you told her?"

"I haven't told her. But I don't need to she knows."

"I don't think so."

"Mom, you don't know that."

"But I do. Calliope. Mother's know best."

"Mom..."

"Look, take your time. We'll be inside when you're ready."

Walking around the backyard, I make my way to the pool. Taking off my shoes, I sit down and put my feet inside. Reflecting on what my mother just said, she's right I wouldn't care if it was anyone else. Why is this bothering me so much? Why does this women have such a hold on me. The rest of the evening I sit outside, never joining the group.

Arizona POV

After Lucia left the table, we talked a little bit more. Mostly Mark talking about law school days. Stories I already heard from Callie. After a while, we all decided its best to turn in. We all had a long day, and Callie walking away, kinda made it uncomfortable. Why would she get mad at not knowing my birthday? It's not a big deal? Would I get mad if she didn't tell me? I don't think so. Maybe I would.

The next morning, Teddy and I head off to the bakery. Never speaking about Callie. Which I'm glad cause honestly I wouldn't know what to say. But right now, Teddy is in her zone.

"I feel like you already knew what you wanted as your cake from when you came out the womb." I joked.

"That's because I did." She laughed.

"Well, we better head back, the jet leaves in a few hours."

"Sounds good."

Before heading out, we pay for the cake and thank the bakery owner, Becca.

"So last night..."

"Not right now Teddy. I don't know what that was about. I need to talk to her first."

"Okay, okay."

Once, we walked in, I see Callie gathering her luggage. Teddy excuses herself and heads to her room.

"Hey.."

Callie looks up and smiles. "Hey."

"So.."

"Look, Arizona I'm sorry. I didn't mean to storm off. I was just tired and I think the sun got to me."

"Huh?"

"Yeah, I was just exhausted."

Not buying any of that I decide to let it go. If she doesn't wanna talk about it, I'm not gonna make her.

"Yeah, no problem. So we're good right?"

"Of course, we're good." Callie smiled. "You want me to grab your bag?"

"Yeah, it's in my room. Im gonna tell your parents bye."

Walking into their huge living room, I see them sitting on their own chairs, and I can't help but want that. Saturday morning, hanging out and just reading the paper.

"Thank you Carlos and Lucia. I appreciate you folks letting us stay here. Also thank you for agreeing to let Teddy and Mark have their wedding here."

"Of course." Lucia says hugging me. "Give her time."

"Huh?"

"Calliope, she's hard headed. But when she knows what she wants, she does after it. Just give her time."

"Yes, last night. I've never seen her react that way." Carlos adds. "She's just like me. Hard headed to a fault, but we have the biggest hearts."

"Lucia, Carlos, respectfully. Callie. She's gonna do what she wants, and she knows how I feel about her. But honestly I tried to talk to her about last night and she gave me a bogus excuse. And that's okay, she's not ready."

"Ari-"

Just then everyone walks in to say good bye, putting our conversation to an end. Honestly I'm relieved. Mark and Teddy thank them for everything. Callie hugs them and tells them she'll be back for the wedding and that she'll keep in touch.

As we make our way on the private jet, nobody really talks. We must all be tired from this weekend. All I can think about is Callie. And the longer I think about how she's been acting the more I get mad. Before I know it, I fall fast asleep, and the next thing I know we are in Seattle and Teddy is waking me up.

"You still need a ride?" Callie asked.

"No Teddy is gonna take me."

Teddy looks at me confused because we never talked about it. Giving her eyes to just go along with it.

"Yes, yes I am." Teddy says non convincingly.

"Well, I'll text you later."

"Okay." Callie says giving me a hug.

General POV

The next day, Callie and Arizona never text each other. They both miss each other terribly, but both don't know what to do.

Finally after two days of not talking, Arizona decides to text Callie. Playing around with the send button, she finally gives in and sends it.

A: I miss you.

Callie reaches into her pocket and sees the text message. She misses Arizona like crazy and within that moment she realizes Arizona has more control over her than any other person, and with this discovery it frightens her.

So for the next two days, she never responds. Finally having enough Arizona makes her way to Callie's office.

Arizona POV

Knocking on Callie's office door, she's met with a voice that isn't the voice she came for.

"Come, in."

"Arizona, Hey." Erica smiles.

"Oh, Callie isn't here?"

"No, she just left to courthouse."

"Oh, I see. Can you let her know I stopped by."

"Of course." Erica smirked.

As, I start to walk out,

"Wait.." Erica says stopping me.

"You and Callie are best friends right?"

"Yes, I'd like to think so. Why?" I asked confused.

"We'll ever since she got back, we've been spending a lot of time together, and she invited me to this important dinner tonight. So i was just wondering if she talks about me?"

My head starts spinning not believing what I'm hearing. Is this why she doesn't text me back? She's too busy "spending time" with her assistant.

"Arizona?" Erica calls bring me out of my thought.

"Umm. I haven't talk to her much."

"Oh. Never mind. I guess I'll just have to wait and see."

"Yeah..." I say absentmindedly.

"I'm sure I don't need to wait long, I can tell things are different from the way she looks at me. You know Callie, once she wants something she goes after it. She is after all a lawyer. And a lawyer always goes for what they want. Just like sharks do."

"Well I better get going." I say practically running out the door. If Callie wants to fuck her assistant that's fine, but the least she can do is tell me. That's what a friend would do.

With tears in my eyes, I can barely see, that I almost bang someone.

"Arizona?" Mark calls.

Using my sleeves, I whip my tears.

"Hey, Mark. I gotta go."

"Wait." He says trying to stop me.

"Gotta go. Bye Mark."

I'm officially done with her, first she gives me excuses about that night. Then like always I'm the first one to engage in any conversation, and no reply. Now she doesn't have the decency to let me know that she doesn't want anything more than friendship and that she's found someone. Let alone with the one person I told her liked her and she had the nerve to disagree, her fucking assistant.

I've been home laying on the couch bawling my eyes out for the past two hours, with Teddy blowing up my phone. This hurts more than Lauren and I wasn't even dating Callie. I guess I should listen to whatever one says about her. Callie always gets what she wants and now it's clear. She doesn't want me.

Callie POV

The past few days have been exhausting, I'm working on one of the hardest cases in my career. I mean it's not one of those make it or break it cases. It's just very time consuming.

Making my way back to the the office, I see Mark standing by my office, and he doesn't look to happy.

"Hey, what's up?" I say walking inside putting my brief case down.

"What did you do to Arizona?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Torres, your my best friend. So don't bull shit me."

"Mark is Arizona okay?" I say worriedly.

"No, when I was coming back to the office, she was practically running out of here. So I'm asking what did you do?"

"I didn't do anything! I just got here." I say starting to get pissed.

"Torres she was crying?" Mark says folding his arms.

"Okay, I have no clue. I'll go check on her."

"Don't bother. Teddy's been trying to call her ever since I told her that she left here crying. And she has yet to get back to her."

Nobody tells me what to do. And hearing that Arizona is hurt, only adds to my anger. Ignoring whatever Mark is spewing at me, I make my way to my car and drive to her apartment. Parking the car, I notice that she's also here. Ignoring the elevator because that will take up to much time. I run up the stairs and to her door.

"Arizona open up!"

Nothing, but I don't let up. "Arizona open up, now!"

After about a minute of consistent pounding she opens the door half way, and indeed I see that Mark wasn't lying. Arizona was crying. She has tear stained, red eyes.

"What do you want!?" Arizona snapped.

Taken back a moment, I'm not used to seeing her like this, besides the first time she yelled at me.

"Can we talk?"

"No."

"Why not? Why are you so mad!?" I asked confused.

"Why!? Why does it matter to you?"

"Arizona, please let me in for we can talk." I say as calm as possible. Hoping this would help, and it does. Arizona opens the door and walks in. Shutting the door, I turn around and her arms are crossed. I've seen people in court rooms give a stare down and the one she has on, is giving the Torres' glare a run for their money.

"Okay what's going on?"

"Why do you fucking care? I texted you, and no reply and now you show up at my door pounding non stop might I add."

"Arizona I've been extremely busy."

"Well so have I. I have four events in two days, but I've tried haven't I?" She says pacing around her living room.

"Arizona.."

"Callie, leave me alone."

"Look, I didn't mean not answer you. You know you're important to me, but I've been busy."

"I don't wanna hear it Callie, because if I was so called "important" you would've replied. Ever since that night at your parent's house, things have been weird. So I texted you checking on you. Telling you I missed you and no reply. NOTHING."

"Arizona please. Sweetie.."

"No, don't you dare sweetie me, you're probably here because of Mark. If he didn't see me, where would you be? At your office right?"

"Arizona, that's not fair."

"Well what is that you always say? Life isn't fair. Now is it?"

Im at a lost for words, I have no clue what to say. Arizona is beyond pissed. She's just rail roading everything I'm saying. Maybe we should go a different route.

"Arizona, can you please sit down? So we can talk calmly."

Arizona gives me a deadly look, one that I've never seen.

"Or you can stand. But can we talk?"

"Talk? What do you call this? We are talking, right?"

"What happened at my office? Why were you crying?"

"Just leave me alone Callie, I don't ever want to talk to you." She says finally with tears in her eyes.

"You're my best friend Arizona."

"No, no I'm not. If I was, you wouldn't have been ignoring me. So don't fucking give me that bull shit about being busy. No matter how busy you've been, you always replied.."

I can feel me slowly losing her, and with every second, I'm feeling a pain, I never felt before.

"Callie, please. I can't do this." She says walking to her door.

"Do what? Just talk to me."

"Just go back to your busy life. I'm sure Erica is waiting for you."

"Hold on! What did Erica say to you?"

"It doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything." Arizona says exhausted.

"It does fucking matter. You matter." I say frustrated.

"I'm done." She says opening the door. Signaling for me to leave.

"If you won't tell me, that's fine, but I'll find out." I say standing up, walking pass her, I look directly in her eyes. "Arizona, I will be back, and we will talk about this."

"Callie, it doesn't matter. Just please leave me alone.

Driving to my office in record speed, I walk up to Erica desk. "My office now."

Erica walks in and shuts the door.

"What did you say to Arizona? And you better not fucking lie to me."

Erica eyes go wide and I don't care how scared she is.

"I Umm.. I said..."

"You said what?! My patient dwindling.

"That we're getting close and that you invited me to dinner."

"I do not want you! And I did not invite you to dinner. It's your fucking job to be there."

"Callie, I've seen the way you look at me."

"I am not looking at you in any way. I don't want you or anyone."

"But you invited me to dinner."

Is this girl slow? Why is she not getting it?

"Listen good. It's your job, to be there. I mean it was your job. Effective immediately you're fired."

"Callie please."

"No, I know you did that shit on purpose. Now get the fuck out of my office, before I make sure nobody ever hires you again, and don't try me you know I have the power to do so.

Erica walks out angrily, not saying a word.
