Now, as long as she could remember, Luz had a fear of heights. She thought her wings would remove that fear, but she only got to fly a little bit before she lost her ability. Still, the second she saw her mom fall, she didn't waste a second running and jumping off that building after her. Luz went into freefall mode, trying to get speed to catch up to her mom. Raine watched in horror as Their daughter jumped off a fucking Building! Raine ran to try and catch the two of them but was stopped by Emperor Belos.
"No, we aren't done yet." He said.
Raine summoned Their violin and held it menacingly.
"You have hurt my family too many times... prepare to die." Raine said.
Next to Them, Skara stood up and held her staff at Belos.
"You messed with my sister, that is unforgivable." Skara said.
The two ran at Belos, Skara using her staff to make a massive spell circle. She fired a red beam at Belos, which hit him and made him fall backwards. Raine used this opportunity to run at Belos and drag the violin bow across the strings, causing strong and sharp jabs of yellow magic to hit Belos with each swipe across the strings. The two Bards were enraged with Belos, and they would take him down, or die trying. In the air, Luz caught up with her mom.
"Don't worry, mom, we'll... we'll get through this." Luz said, trying to remain calm.
Deep down, she was afraid, but she was more worried about her family than herself.
"I'm sorry." Luz said, "I'm sorry I came here, none of this would be happening if I never entered that damned portal! I... I just wanted to find a place I belong, but I was wrong... I was where I belonged. I was home."
Luz felt tears, no longer feeling fear or anger, but feeling sadness, true sadness, not just bitterness about what happened years ago.
'I just wish I could save the people I love.' Luz thought.
Luz hugged her mom, ignoring the sudden pain in her chest. She felt something come from her back and then she heard a gasp come from her mom and opened her eyes. Luz felt a feeling she hasn't felt in years. On the roof, Raine and Skara landed on the ground in pain. Raine dropped their violin and Skara dropped her staff. Belos smiled under his mask as he walked up to Raine.
"Well... it seems that you've failed." He grabbed Raine by the neck and held Them up, "Time to end this."
Belos applied more pressure to Raine's neck, making Them choke.
"Any last words?" Belos asked.
Belos was suddenly hit from behind by a blast of magic. He dropped Raine and hissed in pain.
"How about this?" A voice said, from behind, "Flock off, bitch."
Belos turned around and saw Luz, holding Raine's Violin, with Camila behind her. Luz's wings were on display and ready to give her help if she needed to gain speed. Luz smiled as she held the bow against the violin strings.
"You triggered my Fight or Flight response... and you turned me into a flightless bird." Luz said.
