Callie POV
"Torres, you coming in today?" Mark said walking into my living room. He's been checking on me everyday for the past week.
For the past week, Arizona has refused to take any of my phone calls or text messages. She's even banned me from the building. Which I'm sure she can't do, but I'm not gonna question it right now. So I gave her a few days to calm down. I thought I knew pain before, but this.. this is something else. Sitting on my couch, which I've been glued.
"No, I'm not. I'm not sure when I'll be back."
"Torres, this ain't you."
"Don't you think I know that, but I just can't right now."
"Arizona, she'll talk to you when she's ready. She can't be mad at you forever, and if she does you can talk to her at the wedding next month."
"I don't think she's ever gonna talk to me." I say honestly.
"She will. She's just hurt."
"Mark, I fucked up. I knew I should've texted her back. Hell I missed her too. And it doesn't help with that stunt Erica pulled."
Mark takes a seat on the couch, next to me.
"Look, you should go to work. Keep your mind busy. You don't need to do cases. Just delegate."
"You wanna know what hurts the most Mark."
"What?"
"Seeing how much I hurt her. Knowing I caused all that pain. You should've seen her."
"I know." Mark says patting my back. "But how about we get out of the house and we can go to the office."
"Okay."
"But first take a shower, because you stink."
"Whatever Sloan. You're right though maybe going to office will help."
"Everyone will be happy to see you."
Arizona POV
"You gonna go out with us tonight?" Alex asked with his legs on my desk.
Pushing his feet off my desk. He tumbles forward. Making Teddy and I laugh. "I'm surprised your here, I haven't seen you in forever."
"Well, after the honeymoon, jo getting pregnant almost instantly, and the hospital, I'm surprised I'm even standing." Alex said munching on chips.
"But to answer your question, I don't think so. I just want to stay home." I admitted. Lately I haven't had the energy to do anything. All I do is work, and come home.
"Good, cause I don't want to go out either. You folks can come to my house. We can stay in and watch movies." Teddy laughed.
"That works for me, although I might just fall asleep twenty minutes into it. So how's you and your lawyer? You still not talking to her?" Alex asked.
"No."
"Alex leave her alone." Teddy says shooting Alex a look.
"No seriously though? Why not? From what I heard it sounds like she fired the chick who basically lied to you. Callie had no control over that? So why are you blaming her?"
"Because Alex that's not the point, She didn't text me back!"
"And? I never text you back, you don't block me and ban me from your shop."
"Not just the shop, she got her banned from the whole building." Teddy speaks up.
"It's different Alex." Arizona snaps.
"How? You said she's your best friend right? Teddy and I are your best friend and you've never banned us or blocked us."
"Because..."
"Because what?" Alex pushes on.
"Because I love her okay! Is that what you want me to say?"
Just then Alex's pager goes off. "Yes, that's exactly what I want you to say." He laughed. Standing up he grabs his bag," Teddy, you owe fifty bucks."
"Excuse me?"
"Shut it Karev." Teddy says shoving him.
"I bet her that I could get you to say you loved Callie." As he walked out the door, he looks back in, and says "You should tell her."
"You really should, Arizona." Teddy says while going though whatever wedding catalogue is on my desk.
"Why? Why should I? Nothings gonna change. If anything it will make it worse."
"Don't you miss her?"
"Of course I do, but I'm not gonna put myself out there for someone who doesn't feel the same way."
"Are you blind? Of course she feels the same way."
"No she doesn't, she made she think she could, but look nothing happened."
"Well why don't you just see her? I heard she hasn't been in the office for about two weeks."
"What why?" I say suddenly worried. Callie never misses work.
"Geez I wonder?" Teddy deadpanned.
"Is she okay?"
"Yes of course she's okay. You're okay. Im okay. Why wouldn't she be okay?"
"Well then why do I need to talk to her if she's okay."
"Because, you don't want to admit it, but we all know you want to go down there. What happened to all that good man in the storm bullshit?"
"Hey, I am a good man in a storm."
"Right, because right now your best friend has been trying to contact you, and your not replying because you believe she doesn't feel the same way you feel. That's very moronic, if you ask me."
I hate when my best friends have great points.
"Well I guess I'm an idiot then." I say sarcastically.
Teddy looks at me and give me and incredulous look as if she can't believe me. "I know she hurt you Arizona, but she's been trying to call you for a while now, she showed up here and you had the security ban her from the whole entire building."
"Well, I wasn't ready to talk to her yet."
"What I'm saying, is that she's trying, maybe let her explain herself."
"She did explain herself, you already told me what happened."
Teddy puts the magazine down, and stands up.
"I just want you happy, Arizona and I know when you and Callie were together you were happy. Even as just friends. Don't get me wrong, I know that your friendship was complicated from the beginning. You know starting off as one night stand, to friends with benefits to finally best friends. It can't be easy."
"It's not easy." I admit.
"Yeah, it can't be. But it might be worth it."
"I know it could be worth it, but I'm not gonna chase her, not anymore."
"I understand that, so whatever you decide, I'm right here." She says giving me a small smile. "Well I better go check on my shop, I'll see you tonight."
"Thank you. I appreciate that. See you at 7."
Callie POV
Mark had a good point, getting out the house helped, but I couldn't stop thinking of Arizona.
"Torres, come over tonight at 7. Teddy's gonna have her movie night at her place, so she won't be over, and I have nothing planned maybe we can watch the game, just like old times."
"Mark, I'm in no mood to go anywhere. Just coming to the office, was a huge step."
"I know, but please Callie, for me."
"Fine Sloan. Only because I know you won't shut up if don't. Need me to bring anything?"
General POV
What the two didn't know was that Mark and Teddy had a plan. They were gonna make those two talk to each other. Rather it works or blew up in their faces, they knew it was time.
Around five o'clock Arizona got a text that movie night, changed to Mark's because of a leaky faucet. Not really thinking anything of it, Arizona puts her phone in her purse and continues working until it's time to leave.
"Hey Torres, tonight, I'll be a little late, I'm gonna need to help Teddy before her movie night, she has a leaky faucet. Can you set everything up for me. Derek and Jackson are joining us."
"Umm. Okay."
Callie POV
After cleaning up the mess on the table and setting up the food, I finally sit on the couch, waiting for everyone to show up.
Finally there's a knock on the door, that must be Jackson or Derek. Opening the door, I see the one person I wanted to see for the past two weeks.
"Callie?" Arizona says just as shocked as I am.
"Yeah."
I think realization hit her, the same time it hit me. Teddy and Mark set this whole thing up.
"Stupid Teddy." Arizona muttered. "I need to go."
Arizona begins to walk away but I grabbed her hand, and pulled her back.
"Please, Arizona. Don't walk away."
Arizona rips her hand out mine, and I instantly let her go. "I can't."
"Arizona, I'm sorry, just give me ten minutes please." I begged. She doesn't look at me. She stands there looking down.
"Fine. You have five minutes."
"Perfect."
We walked back to Mark's apartment, and I sit on the kitchen table and Arizona stands by the door. Refusing to come close to me.
"Arizona, I truly am I sorry that I never responded."
"Okay."
"And, I should've the moment I seen it."
"Okay."
"You mean a lot to me."
"Okay." She says for the third time. Arizona really isn't making this easy for me.
"And I miss you."
"Okay."
"Okay? Is that all your gonna say to me?"
"What do you want me to say Callie?"
I stand up and walk slowly closer to her, but not to close. Leaning against the refrigerator, I look down to the ground. "Do you miss me?"
Nothing. Arizona doesn't respond, and I slowly begin to believe that she doesn't.
Arizona POV
The moment she opened the door, my heart almost stop. I didn't realize how much I missed her until she followed me, asking me to give her a few minutes. Right now Callie is looking down at the ground, and this is the first time I ever seen her so vulnerable. Finally I answer her.
"Of course, I missed you."
"Arizona, can you forgive me?"
"Forgiving you isn't the problem, Callie. Would you have even responded if I never showed up?"
"Yes, I would've. I'm not sure when, but I would've." She says honestly.
"Why didn't you respond?"
"Because, I was busy."
She still wants to use that excuse, clearly I'm wasting my time. "I need to go."
"Arizona."
"No, you still wanna make excuses, I don't have time for that. Let me know when you're ready to have an adult conversation."
"How can I?" She snapped. "I tried talking to you before, but you had me banned from your building. You blocked my calls, so how am I supposed talk to you?" Callie says frustrated.
"Well I'm right here, and you still giving me those bull shit excuses."
"I didn't respond, because I missed you." She finally says.
"That makes no sense. If you missed me, you should've texted me back."
"Arizona, I know I haven't been the best at showing you my feelings or made it clear, but I do care for you immensely. More than anyone else I ever been with."
"Okay? You're still not answering the question."
"Wait, I'm trying okay. Just give me a moment to figure out what I'm trying to say."
Finally, I decide that maybe I should sit down, and Callie follows suit and takes the seat across of me. I don't say a word, I give her a moment to figure it out.
"That night, in Miami, I was so hurt, that you didn't tell me about your birthday. Probably because we spend everyday together. Including that day, and you never said anything. I would've loved to made that day special for you.."
"Callie-"
"I know you don't celebrate them, but I wanted to. I wanted that for you, but since you didn't tell me, it felt like we weren't as close as I thought we were. Which is stupid cause I know we're close. Then I was trying to come to terms with how I feel about you, because if it was anybody else, I wouldn't have cared."
"Okay and how do you feel about me?"
"Honestly, I still don't know, but I know it's a lot more than a friend. I want to give you more Arizona. I just can't right this minute."
"Callie.."
"I know I can't ask you to wait, that wouldn't be fair for you, but every day since you've been gone. I've been lost. I haven't been to work for about two weeks. Today was the first day I went back. I miss my best friend. I miss you Arizona."
"So what are we gonna do?"
"Well for starters I'll always respond to your messages." Callie joked. And I can't help but giggle a little.
"Arizona, I want things back to normal. I want my best friend back. I want movie nights, I want bowling nights, I want me teasing you and you making that cute upset face back, I want you back."
"And that's it?"
"Yeah, for now." She says honestly.
"You know, I can't wait for you to be ready."
"I know, and if someone comes along who you're interested in, then I have to accept it."
"Why can't you be ready?"
"Because you're so important to me, that I can't ruin this friendship, even though I kinda did." She laughed "Arizona, I want you in my life, and in this moment the only thing I can give you is my friendship."
There she put it all out there, and I can't be mad at her for being honest with me. "Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yes, we're friends."
"And you forgive me?"
"Yes, I forgive you." I smiled.
Callie stands up and hugs me, and finally I hug her back. Breathing in her scent, and letting go of a breath that I've been holding in, I finally feel at home.
General POV
Things have gone back to normal, but within the three weeks, that's been leading up to the wedding, things have slowly become clear to Callie.
She was indeed in love with Arizona. Whenever they hung out, she would take side glances at Arizona, whenever, she would tell a joke, she would check if Arizona was laughing. Callie already knew that when she's with Arizona, she was happier, but lately she feels bigger than life itself. She had no idea how that was possible, but it was. Callie was making sure, that whenever Arizona wanted to hang out, she'd make the time. Which also wasn't something new. She knows that, Mark has pointed it out to her in the past, but she wasn't ready to see it yet, and now it's all become crystal clear to her. That nothing matters, beside Arizona Robbins.
They've been, in Miami for about two days now, and everyone in Teddy's and Mark's family should be flying in. They set up a room block at the Archfield, and Callie's dad gave everyone a discount.
Sitting in the veranda, Arizona goes over all the planning for tomorrow. She told Teddy to get out of here, and she'll take care of it. After all it is her job.
"You look like your studying for a test." Callie says taking the seat across of her.
Arizona sets her iPad to the side and gives Callie her attention. "Well, I'm just trying to get it perfect."
"You have nothing to worry about, it will be awesome."
"Awesome?" Arizona giggled.
"Yeah, tease me all you want, you're rubbing off on me, Robbins."
Arizona looks at Callie, with sincere eyes and smiles. "Well I am awesome, so you have nothing to complain about."
"True." Callie agreed.
"So what brings you here? You don't have any plans for Mark's bachelor party?"
"No, they decided on a dinner, they just wanna hang out with everyone."
"Oh, okay. Yeah, I think I recall Teddy saying the same thing."
"I just wanted to check on you. You almost done?"
"Yeah, I'm done. The decorators just left, everything is set, and all that's left is the food and entertainment. That will all come in tomorrow."
"You did amazing Arizona, everything looks like it came out of a fairy tale book. It's so angelic and just perfect. Teddy is gonna flip when they come back from the beach with Aria."
"You think so?"
Callie just stares at Arizona and can't help how perfect this woman in and there isn't anything she wouldn't do for her.
"Yeah, I know so."
"Thank y-"
"OH MY GOD!" Teddy screamed with a towel wrapped around her.
"This is, wow. I mean wow! I can't even put into words, how beautiful this is." Teddy sniffled.
"You like it?"
"Wow Arizona! You truly know what your doing." Aria says following.
"I hope so." Arizona jokes.
"No, you don't understand. I've been to hundred of weddings, and yet this one is the most beautiful." Lucia says walking behind everyone.
Callie can't help but smile and be proud of this women in front of her. The fact that her own mother is praising her, means so much.
"Thank you Lucia. I appreciate that."
"Dude it looks like angels live here." Alex says walking in with his wife, making everyone laugh.
"So what's the plan for tonight?" Jo asked.
"I think we're just gonna have a nice dinner and hang out with everyone." Mark says.
Everyone has finally gotten used to the new "Mark" so when he says this, it doesn't really surprise anyone anymore. Since being with Teddy, He's really turned into a family guy. Callie always knew that Mark wanted a wife and kid. It was no secret to her. What's new to her, is that she wants the same exact thing and she knows there's only one person she would want that with.
As dinner comes to an end, we all move outside, next to the pool area. There's benches and tables for everyone can hang and sit at. Just then a women walks in. A women that nobody thought would ever show up.
Arizona POV
"Who's that woman?" Arizona asked Teddy.
Teddy and Mark both turn. They see this beautiful exotic looking brunette talking to Callie. "I have no clue."
"That's Bianca."
"Bianca? Who's that?" Arizona says starting to get jealous.
"Umm.." Mark says looking off.
"We went to Law school together. She's really good friends with my family. I'm guessing my aunt told her to come."
"So why is she giving Callie's those looks?" Teddy says
"Ummm.."
"Mark. Please don't tell me that there's gonna be drama at our wedding."
"Whatever it doesn't matter, I'm gonna get me a drink." I say walking away. Clearly my jealousy is coming through.
"Mark.." Teddy says clenching her teeth.
"Don't worry babe" He says unconvincingly. "I'll take care of it."
Callie POV
"Callie..."
I turn around and I see her, the one woman I refused to ever talk to again.
"What are you doing here?"
"It's Mark's wedding and Aunt Carolyn invited me."
Aunt Carolyn is the woman who practically raised Mark. Derek's mother.
"Oh."
"So I heard you have a new girlfriend." Bianca says walking seductively up to me. Maybe a few years ago, I would've fell for it and right now, all I feel is disgusted.
"I'm not talking about this with you."
"Come on Cal. You know that you and I belong together."
"No, we don't. You left me. Just because we disagreed on a case, you packed up and left. Never saying one word, but I don't care. I should actually thank you. You made me stand on my own two feet. I am better for it."
"Cal-"
"This is Mark wedding, so I can't asked you leave."
"You know I was always your weakness." She says grabbing my tie.
Pulling my tie out of her hand, I grab her elbow and pull her to the side.
"Let me make myself clear, you leave me alone and you better leave Arizona alone, or you'll regret it."
"So that's her name, Arizona."
"Yes, I need to go find her." I say walking away.
I know for a fact, that Arizona seen us talking. So when I look where she's at. She's sitting next to my cousins Camille and Tina. Walking up to her, I tap on her shoulder.
"Hey, can we talk?"
"Umm sure."
I take her hand and pull her into the pool house.
"So, I know you seen that."
"Callie, you don't need to explain."
"Yes, I do. Her name is Bianca. We dated my last semester at law school. One day she just left me. Like left school everything. Nobody knew where she went. I was crushed. But eventually I moved on."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"I'm not sure why you're telling me this."
"Because I don't want you to worry."
"Callie, I don't control you. You're free to do what you want." She says walking away.
"Wait." I called out but she's already gone.
Damnit Torres, you should've just told her. "You do control me. Everything I do is controlled by you." I whispered to myself in the empty room. Taking a moment to breathe and relax, I hear a knock on the door.
"Hey Torres, you okay?"
"Mark, what is she doing here?"
"I didn't invite her, I haven't spoken to her in years. I'm sure Derek's mother told her and she showed up. I'll tell her she needs to leave.
"No, don't do that. I'm not worried about her. I'm just worried about Arizona."
"Why?"
"Because, I don't want her to feel any type of way. She says she fine, but I know her. She's not."
"Okay, well you should tell her."
"I tried, but she brushed it off as if it was no big deal, and honestly I don't know how too."
"Come on Torres. I know you'll figure it out. Come let's go outside."
Following Mark outside, I see that the night has officially turned into Karaoke night.
"Now, it's a party." Mark cheered.
An idea pops in my head, of a movie we watched sometime ago. Taking a few shots, for some liquid courage, cause I know I wouldn't be able to do this sober, I make my way up to my cousin who's the DJ and I tell him my plan. As I walk to Arizona who's now chatting my mom, and usually this would deter me from my plan, but I'm to tipsy to care.
Tapping on her shoulder, "Excuse me, Miss Robbins." Arizona looks at me confused. Looking over my shoulder I give him the cue to start the song.
"You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips...
And Arizona eyes go wide, and she can't help but start laughing. I start making a show of it and I know everyone is watching me but I don't care.
And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips
You're trying hard not to show it
But baby, baby I know it
You lost that lovin' feelin'
Whoa, that lovin' feelin'
You lost that lovin' feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh
Arizona covers her eyes, trying not seem so embarrassed, but deep down I know she's loving this.
Now there's no welcome look in your eyes when I reach for you
And now you're starting to criticize little things I do
It makes me just feel like crying
'Cause baby, something beautiful's dyin'
You lost that lovin' feelin'
Whoa, that lovin' feelin'
You lost that lovin' feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh
I get on my knees and belt out this next line, and Arizona starts shaking her head at me. I know she's enjoying.
Baby, baby, I'd get down on my knees for you
If you would only love me like you used to do, yeah
We had a love, a love, a love you don't find everyday
So don't, don't, don't, don't let it slip away
Baby, baby, baby, baby
I beg you please, please, please, please
I need your love, need your love
I need your love, I need your love
So bring it on back, so bring it on back
Bring it on back, bring it on back
Bring back that lovin' feelin'
Whoa, that lovin' feelin'
Bring back that lovin' feelin'
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone
And I can't go on, whoa-oh
Bring back that lovin' feelin'
Whoa, that lovin' feelin'
Bring back that lovin' feelin'
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone
Finally the song ends and everyone is cheering me on.
Arizona POV
I can't believe Callie just did that in front of everyone. It was the funniest, cutest thing ever. She hands her cousins the microphone and takes the seat next to me.
"Really? Calliope? Top Gun?" I laughed.
"Why you didn't like it?" She smiled.
"No, I loved it. I just didn't think you'd do that."
"Well I'm glad I surprised you." She laughed.
Just then Mark and Teddy join us.
"Torres that was a good one. Very classic." Mark laughed.
"Hey, I didn't know you could sing?" Teddy says taking a sip of her drink.
"Well that's our Calliope, doing whatever it takes to get what she wants." Lucia says insinuatingly. "Well we better go check on the guest." Lucia says to Teddy and Mark.
"So why'd you do that?"
"Well I figured, why not put on a show, and I know you love that song."
"I do." I smiled honestly.
"Arizona.."
"Callie let's talk tomorrow."
"Okay."
A/N: Song: You've lost that loving feeling. Sang by the Righteous Brothers.
