General POV
Callie stood in her place, as she waited for Arizona to join her. Callie was Mark's best woman and Arizona was Teddy's maid of Honor. Callie was looking down at her watch, and when she looked up she saw, the most beautiful women she ever laid her eyes on. Arizona literally knocked the wind out of her. Arizona was wearing a dark caramel dress and a deep plunge that shows off her cleavage perfectly, and also brought out her beautiful blue eyes, with her hair in perfect braids.
"You're staring?" Arizona teased.
"That's because your the most beautiful woman I ever seen." Callie said honestly.
"Thank you. You're not so bad yourself." Arizona winked.
"You ready to do this Robbins?" Callie asked as they joined arms to walk down the aisle to join Mark under the wedding arch.
It was now Teddy's turn. She chose to walk down the aisle to "I cross my heart" by George Strait
Everyone stood up, as she made her way to Mark. As the song played Callie kept her eyes on Arizona. Mostly cause every word that was playing made her think of this women who stood across of her.
As Teddy's father handed her off to Mark, everyone took their seats. The ceremony was beautiful. Everyone in the room could feel the love that those two shared.
"You may now kiss the bride." The wedding official said.
Mark and Teddy kiss each other and everyone cheers.
"Let's get this party started!!" Mark cheered.
Arizona POV
Right after the ceremony, I had to walk away, because I could feel the way Callie was staring at me. She made me feel like I was the only one in the room. That only made me want to be with her even more. But I mostly needed to walk away, because I needed to check that every thing was in place for the reception.
The dj was there. The whole entertainment system was in place. The caterers were all set. The bartenders that Mark and Teddy hired for the open bar was here. The cake just arrived, so I had to show them where to set it up at.
"Thank you Becca." I smiled as I handed her an envelope that had an extra tip for making Teddy's cake perfect.
"You're welcome. Teddy has the most eclectic cake I ever made. It was such a joy to bring what she wanted to life.." She smiled and walked away. As I'm putting things away, I hear someone talking.
"So your Callie's girlfriend?"
Assuming who ever is talking is trying to get my attention, I turn around and of course it's Bianca.
"Excuse me?"
"I said, so you're Callie's girlfriend. Aren't you the one she sang to last night?"
"Umm yes she did sing to me. And not that it's any of your business, but no I'm not her girlfriend."
"I figured. You look a little too young for Callie."
"And you look a little too plastic for the sun? What's your point?"
Bianca looks at me shocked that I would say something back to her.
"You know we dated in Law school."
"Okay?"
"And she always said she would come back to me."
"Well I don't see her any where near you? So maybe she changed her mind."
"Wow, you really got a mouth on you? Don't you?"
"Look, I'm not sure what your trying to do if your trying to get a rise out of me, but today is my best friends wedding. So I suggest you watch what your doing?"
"Oh yeah is that a threat?" Bianca says coming up to my face.
"No, it's a promise." I say stepping up even closer, challenging her.
"Arizona, who's your friend?" Aria says walking up behind me.
"She's not my friend. I don't know her at all."
Bianca steps back and gives one of those plastic smiles and in the fakest voice possible, "Hi I'm Bianca. Im a friend of Callie's." She puts her hand out and Aria takes it.
"Are you?" Aria asked.
"Yes, we're actually good friends."
"No, I don't think so." Aria says matter of factly. "Because, I know all of Callie's friends and you aren't one of them. In fact, I never heard of you."
"That's funny, because we actually dated." Bianca said not realizing she's talking to Callie's older sister.
"Listen, what's your name again?"
"Bianca."
"Okay, Bianca, I don't care who you are or who you think you are, but you better watch who you're talking to. I seen and heard the way you were talking to Arizona and I don't like it one bit. And I'm sure if I go over there and tell MY SISTER everything you just said, she would throw you flat on your ass. Or better yet I'll do it myself." Aria says with her arms crossed.
"Umm.. I.. umm..."Bianca stuttered. I can't believe what Im witnessing, you don't ever want to mess with the Torres family.
"You're welcomed to stay, because just like Arizona said, it's Mark and Teddy's wedding. But while you're a guest at my parents house I suggest you stay away from Arizona and you stay the hell away from my sister. You got that?"
"Yes, yes. I got it."
"Good, now you go enjoy the canapés. Arizona found us the best caterers in Miami." Aria faked smiled.
"I actually need to get going. Thank you though." Bianca says as she walks away.
"Good, idea. The exit is that way." Aria says pointing to the exit.
Aria looks at me and starts laughing so hard. "I didn't want to interrupt you, because it sounded like you had it under control, then I seen her step up to, taunting you, and I knew I had to step in."
"Aria.."
"Only because, I knew you'd beat her ass. By the way, those were some good comebacks."
"Thank you." I laughed.
"I didn't think you had it in you." Aria chuckled.
"I grew up with the name Arizona, I had to learn how to fight dirty on the playground."
"Oh you don't need to tell me, I can tell. How about we join everyone else before they come looking for us." She laughed.
"Thanks Aria. It meant a lot."
"Anytime." She smiled as she walked to her table.
I make my way to the wedding table, and sit next to Teddy.
"Everything okay? Are you finished?"
"Yes, I'm done."
"Great, now you can enjoy my wedding."
Callie POV
As the wedding celebration continues, we all start mingling. I'm hanging with my cousins, and I see Arizona across the room. She's laughing with her head thrown back, and I can't help but smile. Arizona turns and she catches me staring at her and she waves at me and I smile back.
"She's great." Camille says.
"Yeah, she is."
"At first, I thought she was too young for you, and then I seen the way she carries herself, and how much of a hard-worker she is, and I knew she was perfect for you."
"Yeah, I know. Everyone tells me that. Which they don't need too. I already knew all those things."
"Torres, let's dance." Arizona laughs pulling me to the dance floor. The last time we were dancing I ended up in bed with her. Now look at us, best friends. As we're dancing the dj puts on a slow song, and Arizona goes to sit down, but I pull her back into my arms.
"Come here, you ain't going anywhere."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yup." I say pulling her closer. Arizona puts her head on my shoulders and we sway to the song.
"It came out beautiful." She whispered.
"Yeah, you did an amazing job Arizona."
"Thank you."
We continue dancing enjoying being in each other arms. Soon the song comes to an end, and we walk back to our table. It's now time to cut the cake.
"Mark, you better not fuck up my dress." Teddy says with their arms intertwined.
"Babe, I promise you I won't."
As they feed each other, everyone is applauding and then out of now where Teddy smashes the cake in Mark's face. Everyone starts laughing and as Teddy tries to make a run for it. Mark grabs her and rubs his face all over her, making her just as messy.
"Sloooan!" Teddy laughed.
Arizona comes around and takes the seat next to me. She hands me a cup of whiskey.
"Thanks."
"You wanna know what's funny?"
"What?"
"The last time we were at a wedding, I just met you, and you know we did our thing."
"Our thing?"
"You know what I'm talking about." She giggled. "I didn't think that night would change my life." She said sincerely. Grabbing her hand I bring it to my lips and kiss it.
"Mine too."
As we dig into our cake, we continue to watch Mark and Teddy's antics.
"So your moms been talking to me."
"Oh yeah, what about?"
"She wants to hire me to do all their events, but that means I would have to fly to Miami."
"Oh she would love that." I laughed. "What did you say?"
"I said, let me talk to Callie first."
"Why? You should do it. Get the exposure. They have many friends who would probably also hire you."
"I'm just not sure if I'm willing to make the trip. I mean I'm already stretched so thin in Seattle. I just don't know how it would be possible?"
"Well I mean you aren't flying everyday. Their events are quarterly. Also you could grow your business to Miami. Maybe open another shop?"
"I never thought of expanding. I thought I wasn't, you know, good enough."
"What are you talking about? Your amazing Arizona. Everyone knows that. You think I'm kidding when I say your the best in Seattle?"
"So you think I should do it?"
"I think you should do whatever makes you happy."
"I guess that means we're gonna be in Miami a lot more."
"We?" I laughed.
"Duhh. You'd be coming with me." She says bumping my shoulder.
"Of course." I agreed.
"Well I better check if everything is okay..." She laughed.
"You're something else Arizona Robbins." I smiled as I watched her walked away.
"Calliope. Can I sit here?"
"Of course, pápi." I say moving down to give him more room.
"How's everything? How's work?"
"It's good, works always busy."
"I'm so proud of you. You and your sister, but mostly you."
"Thanks dad, that means a lot."
"You built your firm all by yourself. You never asked me or your mother for any help. Not a lot of people could do what you did, considering you had all the resources."
I wonder why he chose this time to talk about this. Nevertheless I decide it's best if I keep quiet.
"But you wanna know what's the most important part about running your own business?"
"What?"
"Family." He says looking at the dance floor to where Arizona is dancing her life away with Teddy and Alex. I have no idea how she ended up there, but I'm not surprised, Arizona loves to dance.
"I know I'm not the best example but, I tried. I tried to be there for you and Aria. I wanted to give you two a life that we could only dream of. I wish I tried harder that's all."
"Papi you and Mami were there as much as you could. We understood, and we appreciated every sacrifice that you two made."
"Mija I know you're still young, but you need to realize your work isn't everything. There's so much more to life."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because, I know your having a hard time deciding what to do."
"Hard time? With what?"
He gives me a knowing look.
"Fine, what do you think I should do?"
"Does Arizona accept you for all that you are?"
"Yes, she does. She knows pápi."
"And she accepts that your a busy woman?"
"Yes, pápi."
"If you had to risk your own happiness for hers, would you?"
"Yes of course."
"When you're not with her, do you miss her?"
"Pápi, of course. That's not it. I want to give Arizona everything, I just don't know how."
"Life moves pretty fast mija, if you don't stop and look around every once in awhile, you could miss it. And Calliope, you don't wanna miss this."
He's right. I don't want to miss it. When I'm in the courthouse, all I can think of is fifteen more minutes, and I can see that super magic smile. That smile starts and ends my day.
"Well, I think you have your answer." He says as he stands up and walks to my mother.
As I entered my mid twenties, I put love on the back burner. Having graduated from law school and putting all my hours in, I knew I wouldn't have time. Eventually as I started dating again, I learned that maybe love wasn't in the cards for me. It's not like I didn't believe in it. I grew up with a great example. My parents. Sure they argued, but they always worked as a team. My father always respected my mother, loved her and protected her.
After that talk with my father, a talk that I didn't know I needed, I decide to go for a walk. Maybe it is time. Arizona she's worth it. Hell she didn't want to date either, but she's willing to try.
Arizona POV
The night has pressed forward. Everyone enjoying each other company. Thank goodness the one person who brought drama left. The clean up crew will be here first thing tomorrow, but it doesn't hurt to get a start on it. Considering it's Callie's parents house.
"Arizona, do you ever stop working?" Lucia jokes.
"Sorry, it's just I can't leave it this messy."
"Put it down, they'll clean it up tomorrow, sweetie. Just enjoy."
"Okay."
"Arizona come here." Teddy calls from the dance floor.
"Go, ahead." Lucia smiles.
"Arizona this was the best night ever, thank you so much." She says as she dances.
"Of course, anything for my best friend."
We continue dancing for about three songs and I realize I haven't seen Callie ever since we talked earlier. Scanning the area, I don't see her.
"Hey, Teddy. I'm gonna get a drink. You have fun." I smiled.
Walking through the crowd, scanning for her, I still can't find her.
"She went for a walk." Carlos says popping out of nowhere.
"Huh?"
"Go down by the pool. Take a left and follow the walkway. She should be over there."
"Thank you." I smiled.
General POV
Following the instructions that Carlos gave Arizona, she finds Callie sitting on the bench. Arizona can't help but find Callie miraculous, and breathtakingly stunning. She just can't stop looking at her, especially in her dark brown tux, and fresh new hair cut.
"So, what are you doing here by yourself?" Arizona says taking the seat besides her.
Callie turns and sees the woman who has taking up space in every part of her mind, and soul.
"Just needed some fresh air that's all."
"Seems like more, Torres. What's really bothering you?"
"Nothings bothering me, I'm just thinking."
"Good, or bad?" Arizona teased.
Callie gazes at Arizona then down at her lips "Good of course."
Arizona looks up at the Miami night sky, "Its so beautiful out here, you can actually see all the stars. I can't imagine growing up in such a beautiful home."
"Don't get me wrong, it's a blessing to get to grow up here, but it was very hard at the same time, I had no friends."
Arizona can't believe that, everywhere they go, Callie is so magnetic. People can't help, but want to know her. "Really? I find that hard to believe."
"Well, it wasn't easy being a girl with a dick, not to mention I was a nerd and I might have chewed on my hair, but that's a story for another day." Callie winked. "No seriously though, Aria was my best friend."
This was the first time Callie has opened up about herself to anyone. Arizona couldn't imagine how hard and confusing it must've been to grow up so different. "Yeah, I reckoned that couldn't have been easy."
Callie knew she could trust Arizona in every part of her life, and this was her way of letting Arizona fully in.
"It wasn't, I was mad a lot of the times. I thought life wasn't fair, my parents had me see a therapist, and that helped, but eventually I learned to accept myself."
"You're amazing Callie, you have no idea how much people love you and look up to you. You're perfect just the way you are." Arizona says honestly.
"Thank, you." Callie breathed out.
Arizona sits there deciding if she should do what her heart has been telling her to do. Since Callie was brave enough to be vulnerable with her, she figures it's time to just ask the question that's been bothering her.
"Callie."
Looking down from the sky Callie looks at her.
"Are you ever gonna ask me out?"
Callie sits there and she knows this is the moment she can't let pass. She looks at Arizona then back to the sky.
"Im just waiting for the right moment." She whispered.
Arizona sits there absorbing Callie's answer. Of course she's frustrated and not happy with it, but she knows she cant get mad. Callie has told her multiple times that she's not ready.
"Well, I should be getting back to the party. I'll see you around."
As Arizona stands up and starts walking, Callie whispered her name, loud enough to stop her in her tracks.
"Arizona.."
"Mhmm."
Turning around Arizona looks at her and Callie is still looking at the sky. She takes in Callie's mannerisms. Quiet, meek, and at any moment this woman could run back into her shell and build up those walls. So Arizona doesn't say anything and just looks at her.
"Arizona... I'm waiting for the right moment to ask you out...cause when I ask you out... there will be no turning back for me."
Arizona stands there and listens never interrupting. Callie finally looks at Arizona and gives her a soft grin.
"Arizona once I ask you out... I'm not gonna wanna date anyone else for the rest of my life... I'm not gonna love anyone for the rest of my life... and honestly I'm not gonna care about anything for the rest of my life."
Standing up from the bench, Callie slowly walks towards Arizona.
"I'm waiting for the right moment Arizona, because when I ask you out... it's gonna be the most important moment of my life... and I just want to make sure I get it right." Callie says breathlessly face to face with Arizona.
Arizona can't believe it, she can't find the words to say anything besides.
"Calliope.."
She did it. Callie finally told Arizona everything, she put it all out there that she is in fact, in love with her, and she doesn't want anybody else.
Callie reached for Arizona's hand and pulled her flush against her body, slowly running her right ring finger down the woman she is so deeply in love with cheek. Arizona closes her eyes to Callie's touch. Thumbing her chin, Callie tilts her jaw up and leans in. Arizona can't help but meet her half way. Finally their lips touch, and in this moment, they both know everything has changed. Pulling apart, they never say a word. Just conveying their feelings through their eyes.
"So was that your right moment?" Arizona whispered.
"Yes, yes it was." Callie chuckled pulling her into another hug. "I'm sorry, you had to wait so long." She whispered into Arizona's ear.
"It's okay, I knew eventually you would pull your head out of your ass." Arizona laughed to which Callie laughed just as hard.
Callie POV
Happy, isn't even a suffice enough word to describe how I feel right now. Having the women I love finally know how I feel and for her to feel the same way back is euphoric.
Now that's she mine, I can't stop kissing her. God how I wanted to kiss her so many times. Now I can do it as much as I want. I bend my knees, and pick her up. I walked us to the bench. Arizona wraps her legs around my waist as I sit us down. As we separate for some much needed air, I look at her and her lips are a little bruised.
"I missed your lips so much." Arizona says as our foreheads touched.
"I know. I feel the same way." I whispered against her lips.
Arizona leans in and slowly leaves open mouth kisses along my jaw all the way up to my earlobe. I can feel her grinding on my crotch and soon enough I know my dick will make itself known.
"Fuck, you feel so good baby." I moaned into her touch.
This only turns Arizona on even more. She reaches behind for my hand and she slowly slides it up to her cleavage. Sliding my hand into her dress, palming her heavy soft breast. Brushing my thumb against her already hard, erect nipple. Adding a little pinch. "Callie...that..feels amazing.." Arizona said breathlessly against my earlobe.
Arizona leans back, looking into my eyes. I take notice of her, and her eyes that are normally cerulean blue, are literally black and I know if we continue this, we won't be able to stop. Removing my hand from her dress I place them behind her back, holding her up.
"We should probably head back." I said pecking her lips trying to calm this whirlwind of passion.
"Why, you never snuck away from a wedding and fucked each other brains out?" Arizona asked.
Once those words left her lips.. those exact words I said to her almost a year ago, I couldn't think straight. I tried to, but it was no use. Whatever Arizona wanted she knew I'd give it to her.
