It was a short trip from the shop they were talking in to Geese Tower. They found the ground floor surrounded by armed guards.
"If we want to get to Geese, we'll have to get past those guards first. We either need to sneak past them or take them out quick. Otherwise, they'll alert Geese to our presence. That'll only make things complicated." Andy explained.
"I've got an idea." Link took out a few elixirs and showed them to Andy and Mary. "These are sleeping elixirs. Just toss them near the guards, they'll break open… and all of the guards should be asleep for a few hours."
The two nodded at the plan and split up to put it in action. Mary and Link went around the back of the building to sneak up on the guards. Once Andy saw them, he approached the guards from the front.
"Pardon me, gentlemen."
All the guards pointed their guns at Andy when he spoke, prompting him to put his arms up in surrender.
"Easy there! I just wanted to ask a question. How do I go about making an appointment with Mr. Howard?"
"Mr. Howard doesn't take appointments. Now if you want to live with all your blood still inside, then turn around and-"
Before the guard could get another word out, he and all the others began having violent coughing fits. They looked down to see bottles of elixirs at their feet releasing some sort of gas. This gas put all the guards to sleep in a matter of moments.
Once the gas cleared, Link stepped out of the shadows while Andy stole one of the guard's badges to get them access to the building. Meanwhile, Mary disabled all the security cameras to keep those inside the tower from getting wise to them before meeting up with Andy and Link.
Link picked up the empty glass elixir bottles, then dragged each guard so they would be in a pile when they all woke up. "How do we get to the upper floors?"
"We take the elevator of course." Andy remarked.
As he spoke, he pushed a button that began glowing. Before long, two sliding doors open, revealing a small room, which all three stepped into. Link remembered seeing something similar in the Smash Mansion, but never used them, preferring to walk up and down the stairs.
Link noted the "floatiness" of the thing he was in. It was a small box, with the dual sliding doors, lights, openings in the ceiling, and buttons on the wall to the right of the doors that lit up when pressed.
He felt somewhat unsafe, which was a rare occurrence for him. Link trusted that Mary and Andy knew how to use this strange traveling device as he choose to lean against a wall (it was cold, probably because it was metal) and waited for the box to start moving.
Mary pressed one of the buttons near the top and it began glowing. Immediately thereafter, the doors closed and the box began moving. There was even a pleasant melody playing in the background.
"So, what is this 'Geese Howard' like? What should I expect when we confront him?" Link asked.
"Geese is a proud man. Very proud. He sees himself as one of the mightiest warriors in the world, and he has the skills to back up that claim. He's not one to hold back in a fight either. So you better give it your all when we face him, or else he will kill you." Andy answered.
Before long, the button Mary pushed let out a little ding, and the doors slowly slid open.
"…Very unlike the shrines I've been in." Link looked around the moving musical lit up box once more before he stepped from it onto solid ground.
He then waited for Andy and Mary to join him in the hallway.
When they did, the trio walked forward, towards Geese's main office. But before they could make their way inside, they found their path blocked by four large burly men. Geese's bodyguards.
Andy and Mary quickly got into fighting poses while Link drew his sword and shield.
"Hah, get a load of this, this guy thinks he's from some sort of renaissance convention." joked the lead guard.
He quickly shut up and fell to the ground once Link slammed the shield into his face.
Andy swept a leg at another one, causing him to fall, punching him in the back of the head before he hit the ground. Mary got behind the third one and put him in a chokehold before one hard blow to the head knocked him out cold. The three then stared down the last guard.
"Uh… Nope, I'd rather live." The guard threw a set of keys on a nearby desk and ran towards the three, but then passed them and vanished around a corner.
"Hmph. Coward." Andy sneered.
Mary took the keys and used them to open up the doors. Inside, they saw a large office with a desk at the far end. Sitting behind that desk was a blonde man wearing a white gi and red pants. This was Geese Howard.
Link looked around the room for a moment before walking inside said room.
He, of course, got Geese's attention.
Link decided to start off formal. "Greetings, mister Howard, my name's Link Ailison. I happened to wander into your tower, and your guards escorted me up here. I've heard a lot about you, and as such, I would like to ask you some questions."
'Did I over do it? Maybe not, he seems the type that likes to entertain people.'
—- (meanwhile….) —-
Greg was happy. He had a well paying job, good food, nice housing -
- being a designer was actually pretty nice.
He looked back at a blueprint for Mr. Howard's new botanical garden. He was rather pleased with how it looked. He was just about ready to show his new boss the plans. But just as he got up, the elevator doors opened.
"Ah, Mr. Howard. I was just about to show you...wait, Ivysuar?" Greg asked.
Indeed it was Ivysaur approaching Greg. The Pokémon followed Link and the others inside the tower and entered a separate elevator, hoping to catch up to them. Instead, he ended up on the floor below them and ran into Greg.
"Ivy!"
Greg looked back at the blueprints again, then bent down and picked up the Pokemon. "Wonder how you got here. No matter, here, I want to show you all of these blueprints I've made for my new boss."
Greg took Ivysaur on a tour of the blueprints in the room on the opposite side of the elevator location.
"And lastly, the fountain will go here, in the center of the garden. Well, what do you think?" Greg asked.
"Ivy!" The Pokémon said excitedly. He rather liked the look of the garden.
"Well, I'm glad you like it. Let's hope Mr. Howard likes them too." Greg replied.
This made Ivysaur stop in his tracks. He remembered Link and the others talking about Geese Howard back at the shop. They made him sound like a very bad man. This made Ivysuar put on a look of discomfort, which did not go unnoticed by Greg.
"Is something wrong, Ivysaur?"
Ivysaur pointed with vines towards the ceiling.
"…You want to go see Mr Howard? That's great, because I was going to go up there myself and ask him about these blueprints." Greg grinned. "Let's go."
The villager and the Pokémon entered the elevator and took it to the next floor up. When they got there, they saw three unconscious guards on the floor. They ran in the office to see Mr. Howard.
Only to see him in a three-on-one fight with Link and two other individuals. And winning, by the looks of it.
Greg stood there slack jawed while Ivy launched himself from Greg's arms into the fray.
He quickly tied up Geese by using Vine Whip.
Geese tried to run towards his opponents but couldn't. He looked down to see his feet tied together with some vines coming from a strange looking plant lizard creature.
While Geese was distracted, Andy jumped up and delivered a punch to the mob boss's face, sending him to the ground. Geese quickly recovered and proceeded to grab Ivysaur's vines. After pulling them off his legs, he used his strength to light the Pokémon in the air and swing him around. He then released the vines, sending Ivysaur flying right into Andy, knocking them both down.
Link then came in and tried swinging the Master Sword at his opponent, but Geese dodged. The mafia man then tried to throw a punch at Link, but the Hylian held up his shield for defense, blocking the blow. Not to be deterred, Geese used his other hand to throw another punch. This one landed, hitting Link in the chest and sending him flying back, coming to a stop right at Greg's feet.
"Link! What is going on?!" Greg screamed.
"Oh, hi Greg." Link found himself looking up at the strange gardening kid.
Ivy got up and launched himself at Geese.
"Um… we're fighting that guy. Want to help?"
Greg blinked. "He's my boss."
"…What?"
"Yeah. After what happened at the mansion, I came here and he saw some of my designs for flora, furniture, and clothes and hired me. I've done pretty well so far, despite how little time has passed. I was just about to show my boss my latest designs." Greg said.
"Did your boss tell you that he runs the mafia here?" Link replied.
Greg went silent for a second. "No. I'm surprised you even know what that word means, with you being from some backwater ancient realm."
Link ignored Greg as he slowly got up, then turned to face him. "Andy and Mary caught me up to speed on a few things."
"Such as?" Greg pressed.
"Look, we don't have time for this. Either stay here, or help, I don't care." With that, Link turned and ran back over to rejoin the fight.
Geese had his back to Link, focusing on Andy and Mary. But the crime lord was still able to see Link through his peripheral vision. Just as the Hylian got close, readying a sword swing, Geese turned around and grabbed Link's wrist, keeping him from moving his sword any further. Link responded by smacking Geese in the face with his shield. However, this did not have nearly as much impact as it did on the last tow people Link did this to.
Ivy leapt to defend Link and used Razor Leaf to distract Geese.
Geese put his arms up for defense. The move went across his left arm, leaving a cut. As Geese was looking at his wound, Mary came forward and swung a leg at the mob leader, knocking him to the ground again. She attempted to follow up by kicking him in the face, but the blonde man managed to catch her ankle before it could hit him and throw her to the ground herself.
Greg finally acted then. He walked towards Geese, then at the last second, he took out one of his rockets. "You know, I always thought there was something off about you."
Greg them primed the rocket and fired it at Geese.
The unexpected attack knocked Geese out of his massive bay window, sending him falling over 1000 feet down to the cold hard street below. He impacted the road in front of his tower with a great hard THUD!
Link, wanting to make sure the job was done, jumped out the window himself and put his shield under his feet, using it to surf his way down until he he came to a vertical edge. After that, he used his trusty paraglider to lower himself to the ground. Everyone else simply took the elevator back towards ground level.
Ivy and Greg were the first ones over to the large impact crater.
"Is he dead? Then again he could be one of those people who always survive insane falls." Greg commented.
"He has survived falls like this before. But even if he has, he probably won't be back on his feet for a long time." Andy commented.
"And in the meantime, we can probably look through his office for evidence of his criminal activities. With luck, he'll be locked up for a long, long, time." Said Mary.
"What will you three do?" And asked Link, Greg, and Ivysaur.
The three looked at each other.
"The mansion's nearby, right? We should head there, check the place out, see if anyone is still around." Said Greg.
Link nodded, then picked up Ivysaur, shifted the Pokémon to one arm, then shook Andy and Mary's hands. "Good luck, you two. With… everything."
"You as well, my friend. If you ever return to South Town, please do drop by. It would be an honor to see you again." Andy said as he shook Link's hand.
The three Brotherhood members then began their trek out of South Town and towards the Smash Mansion.
