Mario stared at the beams in bewilderment. What are those...lasers?" He witnessed one of them vaporize Samus, "We can't fight them. Luigi, run."
Luigi looked back at his brother in the same way. Mario retreating from an attack? "What?"
"We have to get out of here!" The duo dodged a series of beams, but they knew they couldn't keep it up forever.
"Mario, look! Portals! We can escape!" But one of the beams had destroyed part of the island, briefly separating them. They jumped over the collapsing landscape and back onto stable ground. By the time the brothers reunited, they were close to the portals. Even with two beams homing in on them, it seemed like they would make it. They knew better than that, however. At the speed those beams were traveling, they'd be lucky if they weren't burned in half halfway through.
"Luigi, listen to me. Whatever you do, keep running and don't look back!"
"Why's that?" Luigi asked urgently. The elder Mario brother started running toward the projectiles. Against Mario's wishes, Luigi looked back at him. The elder brother long-jumped straight into both beams, disintegrating him in a matter of nanoseconds. "Mario! Please, no! No!"
The attack left him no time to mourn. With tears in his eyes, he dove inside the portal, landing inside the sports field of a rather large school. Without thinking, he hid under the bleachers, uncertain whether or not the beams were still after him. It was his instinct to hide...bundled up and all alone with nothing to defend himself beside his fists and a weaponized vacuum cleaner. He looked at his own gloved hands before burying his face, asking himself what he, his brother, and everyone else did to deserve such a terrible fate.
Meanwhile, back at the mansion, all Pichu wanted was for someone who was still there to play with to take his mind off this whole business that he admittedly still didn't fully understand, and now he was running for his life from a half-dozen Crazy Hands all trying to get him. He climbed up into some trees in a gap too small for the Hands to get through. Finally, a moment of peace. But then one of the Hands punched the top of one of the surrounding Pichu off, sending the little electric mouse into a panicking frenzy.
"Pichu!"
One of the Hands looked ready to grab him, but a Quick Attack took him out of the fist just as it was about to close. This happened multiple times, leaving poor little Pichu to wonder if they were ever going to stop.
That fateful day, chaos ruled as always in the Echo fighter wing of the manor; Game Night had been postponed ever since Master Hand sent out that eerie message and Daisy tried to take her mind of things by jogging through the castle's courtyard. It didn't especially work, not when her friends and personal heroes were out there fighting the good fight. Suddenly, she intensified her sprint: the clouds blackened, no, whitened, with the army of hands floating above the sky. One in particular dived down, locking onto the princess' red head like a bull. Daisy gulped "I suppose this is the sort of thing a Bob-Omb doesn't solve" she panted, sticking close to the hedges of the garden in the hopes the Hand would break off its trail when interrupted by a thorny bush.
The Crazy Hand mercilessly tore through the garden looking for her, and when it could no longer see her, fired lasers from its fingers to set the obstacles on fire. The Hand clearly did not care if it caught the princess dead or alive. All that mattered to it was having her in its grasp.
Daisy has never been in a situation like this before, but she wasn't just going to lay down and die either. She took a Bob-Omb from her dress pocket and tossed it in the bush in front of her. Meanwhile, her assailant kept firing lasers at her and any obstacle she crossed.
The Bob-Omb hit, injuring the Hand and stunning it for a bit. That bought Daisy some time. "Yes!"
She took out her golf club, but decided that running was the best option now, in light of the skies being filled with these gloves now. The mansion was not too far, but something in her told her that Smash Mansion was no longer the safe haven it used to be.
The Hand backed out of the garden to get a wider scope of where she had gone. Once it found Daisy, it lunged toward her with its fingers stretched out ready to grab her.
Daisy ran out of options. The mansion was close, but too far to reach and she doubted her aerobatic tricks or senseless violence could solve this. Toad sure wasn't ready to be used as bait either. "Well, I guess this is going to be my second time I'm getting kidnapped" she said to herself as she looked over her shoulders. "Not a bad score, all things considered."
Pichu had seen the Hand pull itself out of the blaze at the garden, and go for something. He ran in the direction it was facing and was able to save Daisy just in time with a Skull Bash against the Hand, pushing it out of the way while Pichu grabbed on and rubbed the pink cheeks on his face on it. This move shocked both Pichu and the Hand. The two fell to the ground. While Pichu was able to get back up quickly, Daisy had come to a realization that the giant glove was paralyzed, as indicated by the several electric currents running around it. Pichu, however, continued running away knowing that the Crazy Hand would get back up eventually.
"When life gives you lemons…." Daisy said to herself and followed the little mouse through the gardens. Daisy didn't like the fact that her survival chances more than doubled with even the presence of a baby Pokémon a good deal smaller than her, but Daisy's extravert personality and innate talent for being a royal ambassador for Sarasaland was simply unfitting now that the skies came crashing down; Thunder however, was always a good choice.
Pichu kept running until he tripped on the ground tumbling. This setback finally allowed Daisy to catch up with him. He had no idea she was following him, and they were both pretty far from the mansion at this point. He simply called out his name in response to her mostly relaxed until he suddenly realized that all that running made the little guy exhausted and hungry.
"Pichu."
Daisy caught up with Pichu, bending over to catch her breath. She saw the little lad was tired and tried to communicate with it. "Hey, li'l fella." she started "You want to piggyback on my back here for a while. I'll promise I'll run real fast."
"Pichu."
He jumped into her arms. The two then noticed a strange portal as the Crazy Hands that were chasing after Pichu earlier saw him again. Without a second thought, the duo escaped into the vortex.
"Pichu, I don't think we're in Smash Mansion anymore…" Daisy looked in awe at what was at the other side of the looking glass.
They were instead now in a courtyard just outside of a big city-probably the biggest city either of them had ever seen in their lives. On the other side were what appeared to be some sort of metro, mall, and geometric building.
