Chapter 2

Kagome reached rins camp. Jaken sat by fire with ah and un "rin" his screeching voice rang out. "There you are child, come sit down"

his eyes drifted to Kagome "what are you wearing, you look like a whore."

Kagome stared at the little toad "where is Sesshomaru"

Jaken stood up quickly with his staff "it's lord Sesshomaru to the likes of you"

he started to swing his staff to wack her on top of her head but to his surprise she caught it. He started to cower as she stood above him holding the staff of two heads. Fires shone brightly in the centers of her eyes. "Try it you little imp and it'll be the last time you use this. Got it."

In a small voice he responded "got it. He's off finding food, he should be back shortly"

she nodded, a smile appeared back on her face "now rin. You be good, and if you need any help get on uh un and come find me"

Rin smiled back and nodded, Kagome turned her back and started back to her camp.

Sesshomaru found a tree where the wind blew against him, hiding his scent from his brother. He sat there watching. Waiting for Kagome to return. Sango and Shippo had come into the camp.

"about time you two came back, where is Kagome?" Inuyasha walked up to the slayer, his arms crossed.

Sango let out an annoyed sigh "she'll be here shortly. Knowing Kagome she probably took Rin back to her camp."

Inuyasha's eyes widened. "Rin? You mean Sesshomaru's brat"

Sango stared at Inuyasha "yea, lord Sesshomaru's ward."

Sesshomaru's face turned to one of pure annoyance, he could hear everything that was said down below him and of course his baby brother still has not learned any respect.

Inuysha spent the next half hour pacing around the fire while the others ate until finally Kagome walked into the camp "finally come on pack your stuff we're leaving"

This caught everyone, including Sesshomaru's attention.

"what?" Miroku asked,

Kagome looked confused, "why?"

Inuyasha looked annoyed "because we aren't alone, I know Sesshomaru's near. We can't let him get to the shards first"

a deadly calm graced kagome's voice "Inuyasha. SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT"

Kagome's voice was one filled with rage and malice, as the smoke made of the dust Inuyasha laid in the crater that Kagome had made with his body. She walked past him and joined the rest for dinner, he got up quickly.

"what the hell was that for you stupid bitch"

a dead quiet that had even sent chills down Sesshomaru's spine, Miroku, Sango and Shippo all moved away from the feuding pair. "What did you just call me?"

She didn't even look up from what she was eating. "You heard me. You can't just keep putting me into the ground every time I hurt your fragile little feelings. And you wonder why I never returned your affection? That's right, I said it. I knew. I know how you loved me. I've heard you more than once. But guess what I can never and will never love a copy. You stupid fickle fragile little girl! Always looking for me to protect you"

a smile shone brightly on his face, thinking he finally won an argument with her, Kagome just remained quiet.

"What's wrong, did I hurt your feelings again? Go ahead, start crying and go back to your time. Good riddance!"

Sango started to move toward her sister and best friend, a hand carefully outreached.. Shippo came from the opposite direction both their faces one of worry, sadness and love. "Kagome?"

Kagome leaned into Sango while Shippo stood in front of her angrier then he has been in his entire life "what is wrong with you Inuyasha, why would you speak to her that way? She's never done anything like that to you. Time after time when you've chased kyiko and hurt momma she's forgiven you, how could you still be so cruel to her."

He turned and hugged his mother. Kagome just sat there, her face hidden from everyone, no one could see it or hear it but Sango could feel tiny little tears soaking her shirt, Inuysha and Sesshomaru both could smell the salt from the tears. Just as Sango began to speak, Sesshomaru jumped down from the tree. With his normal stoic face he walked closer to the group "I have heard and seen quite enough. Little brother you disgust me"

without speaking again he walked over to the miko, he crouched down, turned her face towards him and stared at her. "Slayer. Fox. Come'' he picked up Kagome and walked past Inuyasha "if you will not care for the miko then I will" Neither Sango or Shippo said a word but followed him, Inuyasha watched dumbfounded.

"And just where are you guys going? If she wants to leave, let her go on her own. She's just slowing us down. If we're lucky he'll eat her"

They both stared at him in disgust. Shippo walked closely behind Sesshomaru, Sango stopped in front of Inuyasha "this is over Inuyasha, the only reason I put up with your rude, narcissistic, obnoxious behaviors was because of Kagome. You did it, you finally did it, you were so scared of being alone that you belittled and degraded everyone who wanted to be around you. So caught up with protecting yourself you now have no one to turn to. It's a shame too because she loved you. Have a nice life Inuyasha"

without saying anything else she grabbed her own, Shippo and kagome's belongings "kirara come"

and they were all gone. He was truly alone now…..

The new group made their way to camp as Sesshomaru's figure became apparent from the darkness. Rin jumped up "lord Sesshomaru!"

Catching jakens attention he looked up "there you are my lord, I was worried about you where have you been!?"

Before his eyes could catch Kagome, rin who had run over to the lord, saw Kagome her smile had faded. "What happened to Miss Kagome?"

Sesshomaru stayed quiet, he walked over to ah un and sat Kagome down. She sat there staring out to space. Her face had paled, her normally bright and expressive eyes had dulled and darkened. He kneeled down beside her and brushed the hair out of her face. He grabbed a cup "miko drink."

She didn't move nor did she speak. He deepened his voice "miko" he said sternly "drink. Now."

She held the cup in her hands, staring at the mysterious liquid in her cup. Her voice was quiet and broken "what's in it?" She didn't take her eyes off the cup.

"It's just water, now drink" he spoke short and stern, waiting for her to drink the potion that'll help her sleep.

She drank from the glass. It wasn't long before it did it's job and she fell fast asleep. Rin, Shippo and Sango all stood up at the same time to get to their friend. Sesshomaru put his arm out "leave her be, I gave her a potion to help her sleep"

He positioned himself behind her allowing her to lay in his lap, his eyes darted to jaken

"jaken"

the small toad scrambled to his feet "yes my lord"

sesshomaru took his eyes off of the trembling demon that stood in front of him "go find food for rin and our guests, i don't require any nourishment"

the toad bowed "of course my lord, right away"

Jaken scrambled to his feet and left the camp to do his masters bidding.

forgetting about the others sesshomaru concentrated on kagome's features hard, he stared and studied every minuscule detail about her face, the way her bone structure formed the lower his sight got the harder he concentrated. -"not yet, if we force our seed on her now it will not take, we need her trust"-

sesshomaru quickly snapped back at his inner demon -"quiet, i will not degrade myself with a childish act like that. Do you think of me the same as that filthy half breed?"-

As the night continued the others one by one fell asleep, kagome still laid sleepy peacefully in sesshomaru's lap, his arms wrapped around her like he was trying to protect her. He rose before the sun came to the horizon, laying his fur pelt underneath kagome he quickly left to survey the area around them. First to rise shortly after the lord's departure was sango, who got into kagome's bag to get things to make for breakfast. The smell of food surrounded the air, it woke the children whose loud screeches of excitement woke jaken.

"Do you brats have to be so loud so early in the morning?"

they simply ignored the grouchy imp and surrounded sango waiting for her to make their plates. Just as the group was finishing up their breakfast lord sesshomaru walked calmly and coldy back into the camp, rin ran up to her father figure with a fresh plate of food

"Here my lord, lady sango made it, it's really good" her grin was plastered ear to ear as she held up the plate towards him.

he got down on one knee to get eye level with her, his hand laying ontop of his head "no thank you rin, i'm not hungry. But thank you for thinking of me"

she smiled brightly "alright" she turned her back and ran back over to shippo.

"Forgive me lord sesshomaru i don't mean to sound rude but i've never seen this side of you"

his eyes darted to sango and he nodded his head. "Pack up, we'll finish our journey today."

she nodded her head "of course, but what about kagome?"

he looked at the still sleeping miko "i'll carry her, the potion lasts for forty-eight hours"

Sango called for kirara "please don't trouble yourself, kirara can carry her. She doesn't mind"

sesshomaru didn't acknowledge the demon slayer's objections, he picked up the sleeping miko "rin, get on ah un"

she ran over quickly "yes my lord"

she exclaimed while she climbed the two headed dragons back.
