"Well little buddy, I want to say this is Sarasaland but there's no invasive species of racoon to be seen here." Daisy petted Pichu's head. "It's just you." she said lovingly. "Just you and me in a grand city." she said. "Let's go explore it, shall we?" she said, kissing the forehead of the Pokémon and getting a little zap in the process. "Ouch" she mumbled, taking the first steps towards the metro.
Pichu had no idea what Daisy was talking about when she said something about raccoons, but he had explored Goldenrod City, so he knew a little about big city life. When he shocked Daisy, he flinched expecting a scolding, yet other than an "Ouch" that he could barely hear, she bore him no mind.
A bunch of people were already on the metro waiting for their train, mostly wearing business suits and skirts, but what really caught Daisy and Pichu's eyes were the teenagers. The boys' uniforms looked just like the one Joker wore sometimes.
"Hey, I've never seen the likes of you around here," one of the boys said to Daisy. "And I come here the same time every day. You work at the flower shop?"
"Oh, gosh, is it that obvious I'm a bit lost here?" Daisy responded with a nervous smile and a nod. "Could I bother you for directions? I'm a…" Daisy noticed the uniform "…sports coach. I'm supposed to give a guest class at…ahh what was it… Shujin Academy? Ever heard of that?" Daisy was surprised how good she was at detective work.
"Heard of it? I go there! Oh! That's my train, or I guess I should say our train. I'm Yuuki Mishima." The boy appeared to be in such a hurry that he didn't have time to question Daisy or Pichu until after they got on.
"It's a little cramped in here."
"You'll get used to it. That's just how they do things here in Tokyo." He took a moment to really look at them. "Hey, what is that thing you've got in your arms? Is it some kind of cat or mascot?" He got nervous as he clearly wanted to pet it, but was too afraid to ask.
"Pichu?"
"I'm not sure honestly. I found it roaming on the street one night and I'm too much of a softie to let these critters be all alone at night." Daisy chuckled. "My boyfriend hates it when I do that, but I know his heart is in the right place." Daisy looked down, wondering what grand adventure Luigi was up to.
"What would Mario do?" Luigi pondered that question whenever something stressed him out, but he needed an answer now more than ever. Mario had just sacrificed himself for his little bro. One thing he certainly would not do is be hiding under the stands of a field stadium right now. He would get up and live up to his "Superstar" status. Besides, Luigi had a weapon. He would find a way to save his brother and everyone else who was kidnapped by Galeem!
"Aw, what am I thinking? I can't possibly do something like that all by myself!" Luigi's thoughts were interrupted when he heard some students practicing baseball inside the field. The sights and sounds of the game briefly made Luigi forget his troubles. These kids were still managing to have fun, blissfully unaware of the destruction that had just occurred on some faraway island.
"Hey, Mr. Green Shirt!" one of the boys waved to Luigi. "What're you staring at?"
"Huh? I-I... I was just cleaning under the bleachers, and decided I watch the game for for a little while. I'm sure you all are doing your best out there."
"Ah yeah we do, we do. Say, you seem a little…uptight. Wanna play a round with us?"
Realizing that he needed to regain some level of emotional stability, Luigi agreed to the boy's offer. "I guess. I've just got a lot of stuff going on with my personal life and need some cheering up. Maybe a round with you will be the thing I need. After all, can't do your job when..." Luigi started crying again. "Sorry. Sorry. Let me just find a place for this thing and wash my face, and I'll be right there."
"Tis alright man, we all have those days. Out here, all what matters is how well you swing and catch." A boy said, tapping his bat against the grass.
"R-right," Luigi sniffled. He roamed around the field a bit to look for a safe place to set his Poltergust then approached the rest of the students. "Alright, so which one am I doing first?" He guessed catching as the boy he'd been talking to was holding a bat.
"Whatever you feel like, we divvyd up teams already, should be easy to pull a switch on one end." the boy replied. "So…you catch?"
"Yeah. I'm no stranger to baseball."
"Good! Say, what's the li'l gadget you got there? Looks fancy?" One of the boys pointed at the Poltergust.
"It's one of those vacuum cleaners you strap on your back. But be careful; it's not a toy." Luigi got himself into position behind the home plate.
"Alright, forget I asked." the boy replied, bouncing a ball up and down on the plate. "Here it comes. Get into place y'all, let's show the cerulean custodian how we roll here."
"'The Cerulean Custodian'? That's certainly a new one."
"You'll have to let me know your favorite nicknames later, green-screen. I'm sure you got some fabulous ones!" the boy said, throwing the ball.
Another student hit the ball, sending it out far into the center. She even made it to first base before deciding not to take her chances.
Luigi decided to have a little fun and shout, "Safe!"
"Wow, you're suddenly a lot more confident now, eh?" the pitcher replied. "I like it, really shows the value of a li'l competition." he continued. "Speaking of which, I think we're ahead by one."
"Gee, thanks!" Luigi caught the first ball thrown when the batter missed. "Strike 1!"
"Ah. I see." The pitcher mumbled and threw again.
Meanwhile, the train carrying Daisy, Pichu, and Yuuki arrived at their destination. Pichu waved to the student as thanks.
"I've got to head to class. See you around miss coach and cat!"
"Bye!" Daisy waved, before promptly following him, assuming she'd find out more at the school. If anybody knows a city's best spot, it's a bored teen, she figured.
There were students everywhere sorting through lockers, going to classes, or discussing an upcoming exam while doing so. Everyone dropped what they were doing and turned their eyes to the princess, wondering what such an extravagantly dressed woman was doing at a prep school, with her cat no less. Some of the girls commented on how cute Pichu was.
Yuuki explained that she was one of the sports coaches.
"She is? I thought that was your mom for a second there," one of them replied.
Daisy internalized that comment and quickly shook herself back into detective mode. "Nah, he's right, I'm Ms. Azalea and I'm here to fill in for a man named Kamoshida?" Daisy hoped that they space-warped to a time where Kamoshida was outed already for his disgusting behavior.
The entirety of the student body gasped at her mentioning that name. Yuuki leaned to whisper into Daisy's ear. "We don't talk about him here, Ms. Azalea. Don't you know of the horrors that occurred at this school when he was present?"
"No, the school didn't tell me." Daisy whispered back, knowing the story from Joker. "How about a game of baseball then? I can sense you are in the need of some…different experiences."
"Baseball? But miss, I have to head to class soon, and your position is in volleyball; the bell's about to ring. Maybe later." Yuuki's phone buzzed. "Well speak of the devil." He looked at a newly-received text. "Hm. The Cerulean Custodian...looks more like a Viridian if you ask me, but I guess can see where they're coming from." He played a video showing the man in question in action. Pichu and Daisy recognized the voice as Luigi's.
"I'll promise to catch up with you later. Bye!" Yuuki and the other students left for their classes.
"Well Pichu, I say we are going to play baseball." Daisy said, petting Pichu. "Does anyone know where we can play baseball?" Daisy asked a student passing by. "I have some preparations to make for the class."
"Just outside the school in the east courtyard. There's a stadium there."
"Thanks, cheerio!" Daisy quickly stepped out and went to the baseball court.
