Chapter 2: Ren "Tortura" Kimura

Ren Kimura went straight to Principal Nezu's office. Walking thru the administration floor, Ren was hit with the feeling of nostalgia. Not much had changed since she attended UA a few years before. She knocked on Nezu's door. He was expecting her although he wasn't expecting the two trouble makers. She was a bit disappointed one of them was their top choice for the open spot they had at their agency. Shota Aizawa. Well maybe this run in could be used to Golden Time Agency's benefit she thought.
"Come in!" said a soft, cheerful voice from within. Ren opened the door and entered, the two third years following reluctantly behind her. Principal Nezu was sitting at his desk. He was a small furry white mammal, about 3 feet tall when he was standing. He had large padded paws, white round ears, and a pink nose at the end of his mouse-like snout. He was truly a unique creature. Highly intelligent and shrewd, but he was also kind and cared deeply about his students and faculty. "Ah, Mrs. Kimura! You're early! And also have some unexpected company I see!"

"Hello Principal," she smiled at him. "Yes, these two students were in the midst of a fight on campus right after school ended. They both were using their quirks as well. I thought it would be prudent to bring them to you."

"Well, that's a shame. Especially so close to the School Festival. Fighting on campus with Quirks without proper supervision or approval by faculty is an automatic five day suspension. Seeing as the school cultural festival is in five days…."

The empty space in front of Nezu's desk was suddenly occupied by a man dressed in purple and yellow hero attire. The figure appeared out of thin air and this happened so seamlessly that Ren assumed none of the others fathomed what was going on initially. This was a daily phenomenon for Ren that she had grown accustomed to, however. By the time everyone's shock had worn off and they could process what had happened, the figure spoke out urgently.

"Principal Nezu, my apologies for abruptly warping in."

"What? It's Timeswapper!" Ito bellowed.

"Goro," Ren whispered under her breath, shaking her head with a smile.

"There's a villain attack downtown near the Med School. I thought since the school was on the way I'd let my associate Tortura know," He winked at Ren, "since I knew she was meeting with you. But also wanted to humbly ask if we can get back up from some of your faculty? Most of my team is in a nearby city so are at least forty-five minutes away."

"Of course," Nezu replied calmly.

"It seems to be a new group of villains based on what has been relayed to me. About a dozen of them, one has an earthquake causing quirk, the other has a gigantification quirk. They are destroying buildings and terrorizing citizens. We don't know their motive yet. Other villains' quirks are unknown at this time."

Nezu nodded. He hit a button on a console at his desk and sent out a message that Ren assumed was going to the faculty/heroes at UA about the attack. After Nezu sent out his message, Timeswapper looked about the room and back to Nezu. "Are these students cleared to help? I think Young Aizawa would be most helpful because he has speed on his side and can get to the fight quickly with me." Timeswapper said with a grin. Without missing a beat, Aizawa stood up, removed his school uniform blazer, and tossed it on the chair he had been sitting in. He unzipped his backpack and pulled out a large bundle of cloth. With one deft move of his wrist he lashed it out away from him and it wrapped itself in perfectly even coils loosely around his neck.

"Well, they are both 3rd years with hero licenses…" Nezu had his paw up to his snout deliberating. Timeswapper walked over to Nezu's door and opened it. In fell the obnoxious blonde spectator from earlier. He had obviously been leaning on the door eavesdropping. Aizawa mumbled something under his breath.

Timeswapper extended his hand to help the blonde young man off the floor. "Sorry, couldn't resist, saw you when I was warping in." Timeswapper said laughing. Principal Nezu was now standing on his desk, his tiny arms folded behind his back, smiling.

"He a third year, too?" Timeswapper asked turning towards Nezu.

"Aizawa, you and Timeswapper head up to the roof and discuss your plan. You can leave quickly from there and head downtown immediately." Timeswapper disappeared into thin air. Aizawa quickly ran out of the office. Ren heard the door to the stairway slam open seconds later. "Ito, you and Tortura go to the East side of campus, you'll find emergency vehicles from the nearby police station waiting for you at the entrance to the parking lot." Ito, who minutes before had a sulky look on his face, was now all smiles. "Yamada…." Nezu quickly scampered to Yamada, reached for his belt, and climbed up to his left shoulder and perched there. "You're with me. We will follow behind Tortura! Chop chop!"

The foursome raced across campus and found a handful of emergency vehicles waiting for them. Other faculty started to fill up the cars and they raced away. Ito, Tortura, Nezu, and Yamada hopped into a vehicle, a police officer was waiting in the driver's seat nervously tapping his steering wheel.

"Officer Fujita! Head downtown toward the Medical school!" Nezu exclaimed. The officer nodded and they sped off.

"Okay class, we can make a lesson out of this while we speed to our battle!" Ren grinned broadly. She looked at the two third year boys and they looked absolutely bewildered. Leave it to Nezu to make this operation a teaching moment thought Ren. "Now I sent Aizawa with Timeswapper because through the use of his binding cloths, Aizawa can reach downtown quickly like Timeswapper. But there is another reason they are a good match up. Can anyone tell me why?" Both the boys looked at each other dumbfounded. Ren raised her hand suddenly feeling like she was back at school. "Yes, Mrs. Kimura!"

"They both have a fighting style that is quick paced, has an element of surprise, and leaves less destruction than most quirks."

"Very Good Kimura! Now Ito, why did I pair you up with Tortura?"

"Ummm…." Ito glanced at Ren and he seemed a bit flustered.

Yamada grinned and answered. "Because they are both melee fighters."

"That is correct, Yamada! Can you answer why you and I are teamed up?"

"Well… umm… because….do you have a quirk that makes you squeak like super loud Principal?"

"Incorrect, Yamada!"

Yamada frowned dejectedly while Ito laughed raucously.

"My quirk works better at a distance. I can access the scene and make decisions that will aid to our victory from afar. Your quirk also works best from a distance. And I need someone that can carry me around!" the fuzzy principal gave a jovial laugh.

After a few minutes the officer hit traffic that had backed up due to what they assumed was the villain attack. "Looks like we will be on foot from here on out!" Nezu exclaimed. The foursome left the car and headed deeper into downtown.
